Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

I'm still here.

I've lost 1lb this week.

Starting weight 172.8lb
Week One 167.2lb
Week Two 166.2lb
Week Three 165.2lb

Total loss 7.6lb

I don't think I could do 5:2 as I get migraines if I don't eat regularly.

achieve6 · 10/08/2015 12:12

gosh, well done on losing with a bad back as well.

I have to be honest, I feel quite despairing about this. This is like my millionth attempt.

Sigh.

RoosterCogburn · 10/08/2015 12:22

Thanks. I'm sorry you are feeling so low.
It is hard, I keep reminding myself the weight didn't appear overnight so it isn't going to disappear immediately.
My mantra is i don't like having to lose weight because it is no fun, but it's no fun being fat

I have found after three weeks I'm less hungry. I'm eating one 'normal' meal and adjusting my calories around that.
DH has just suggested a trip to the beach and fish and chips this evening so I shall have a green smoothie for lunch so I have enough calories left.

achieve6 · 10/08/2015 12:36

Rooster, I hope I'm not about to self sabotage but I haven't found the extra weight makes much difference. I'm still fit and strong and work out. I know I could have joint problems later but it seems I'm in better physical shape, in many ways, than others the same age as me. All blood indicators are good, aerobic capacity great despite asthma, lifting heavier weights and all that sort of thing. Very energetic - too much possibly as I have trouble sleeping.

one of my major motivations is that the doctor will want to change my Pill if I don't get the weight off.

also have a big holiday in winter. When I'm just bobbing along to work in a suit, I don't think much about what I look like.

so I know part of this is that I don't really care about it myself, on a deep meaningful level. But I'm not sure how to address that. I can't face changing pills.

Lucked · 10/08/2015 13:56

Hi I didn't post last week as I didn't lose anything. I was hoping to come back this week with impressive results but it is just a pound. Annoying as I have another half a pound to lose before I drop below 12 stone. I feel I have been hovering just above it for ages!!

RoosterCogburn · 10/08/2015 14:05

achieve. good luck whatever you decide.

A fairly big motivation for me was realising that while my work clothes fitted (I think they have just stretched with me) when the summer arrived I couldn't fit comfortably into clothes that I was wearing 12 months ago.

My biggest issue will be when I go back to work - I will have less time to organise sensible eating, I'll probably be hungrier and I have a colleague who I swear tends to try and sabotage anyone who is trying to lose weight by buying them crisps/chocolate etc.

If I manage to lose 10lb by September (so that's at a rate of 1lb per week) I hope I will be so close to the stone loss that I will remain motivated.

Trying to look at the bigger picture and think long term I'm imagining myself at a healthier weight by February. Theoretically I could have lost 2.5 stone by Feb half term, that would put me at a fraction under 10 stone which would nudge me into the 'healthy' BMI range for the first time in years.

RoosterCogburn · 10/08/2015 14:05

Lucked better to lose a pound then gain one!

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 10/08/2015 14:15

Well done for the loses.
Rooster - you are flying! I like the one meal a day idea and then working around that.
I haven't weighed myself yet, I know I ate too much last week, had a great time though. It is annoying to be 3 weeks in without having made any progress...but all my own doing.

Lucked · 10/08/2015 15:16

Rooster you are right and two people have commented on my weight loss over the last two days, my MIL and a colleague at work. I just have no patience!!

achieve6 · 10/08/2015 19:10

Well done Lucked!

Onwards and downwards for us all, I hope.

RoosterCogburn · 13/08/2015 18:23

How's everyone doing?

I'm fine until I set foot in M&S and then I'm hugely tempted. I haven't given in so far but I was very tempted today by their shortbread biscuits.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 13/08/2015 18:43

Well restrained Rooster!

I'm doing all right this week, am clinging onto the wagon for dear life!

Lucked · 13/08/2015 21:43

Well Rooster I don't have your will power. Today was meant to be a fast day but I met people for dinner and had a foot long hot dog with pulled pork and Cajun fries Shock also Wine.

I think that is my TDEE in one meal but I suppose as I fasted all day I may get away with it if I squeeze in another fast day tomorrow.

RoosterCogburn · 14/08/2015 13:43

I don't have the ability to fast, but I admire those who do.

I did have baked brie last night but I had allowed for it in my calorie count. It was delicious and I enjoyed every fat-laden mouthful. I did eat half the amount I would have done pre-diet though.

I'm finding having a large glass of sparkling water every time I think I am hungry helps.

My problem is I can't do moderation very well - if I wanted a doughnut I would buy the bag of 5 because it's better value and then I'd share it with DH and eat 2.5.

achieve6 · 14/08/2015 16:11

dare I say it...I think I might have got a flow going....that usually only means a 1lb a week loss for me but better than nothing.

Wednesday I was out for dinner and tomorrow is a friend's birthday lunch, but one thing about fasting - though I did it on Weds and still hated it - it does make missing one meal easier, so I don't have to worry about eating breakfast tomorrow morning as I know that will be fine. Previously I have been the sort of person who had to have 3 meals and 2 snacks, or thought they did.

Rooster, you mention a colleague who tries to sabotage you. I don't tell colleagues I'm trying to lose weight. I just say "no thanks" when offered stuff. If they are nosey enough to ask, just shrug and say you don't fancy whatever it is right now. It's usually easier to shut down that whole conversation.

RoosterCogburn · 14/08/2015 16:36

achieve - that's an excellent idea re my colleague. When I type it it sounds a bit mad but I swear that if anyone is successfully losing weight she does her best to prevent it. She's quite overweight herself and she seems to take it as a personal affront if someone is making an effort to feel better about themselves.
She also self-sabotages. She will eat a really healthy lunch and say she is making an effort to eat well, then a few hours later she will eat three quarters of a packet of biscuits or an enormous slice of cake.
I shall try the 'no thanks' without making any reference to weight loss and she will just have to accept it!

achieve6 · 14/08/2015 16:42

that doesn't sound mad at all

I used to have a colleague who would say to us "I want you to be fat like me". It was an office full of junk food - well they are all like that I think though my current one is much better - and she brought in yet more food!
One day she questioned me when I said I wasn't in the mood for cake.

So gird yourself, if this woman is that kind, she might also ask what is wrong with your mood (!) but if you just shrug, there's a limit to how far they can go with it.

Luckily my current place is nice but I've had a few offices where there have been people who hate others eating well. I don't know why people feel the need to butt in to other people's lives that way, it puzzles me.

achieve6 · 14/08/2015 16:44

PS One of my pet hates in previous offices was people saying "Have some, it's a treat". Offices - and modern life - are just one treat after another. It isn't a treat if it's there all the time, surely? Well, maybe it is but I didn't even get fat treating myself every day. I shudder to think how large I'd be if I ate cakes and biscuits every day.

RoosterCogburn · 14/08/2015 16:57

I think you are right - we have become conditioned to see food as a treat, but a daily treat isn't a treat it's a lifestyle.

I'm saying that I will be strong but when faced with temptation ... who knows!

I need to have back up food for that 4pm dip! I'm alright while the children ar around (am a teacher) but after school it's very easy to snack.

achieve6 · 17/08/2015 10:43

lost no weight. Pathetic.

I did end up eating more than I should have on Saturday, but still a bit annoyed.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 17/08/2015 12:38

Sympathies Achieve.
It's annoying how one day can upset a weeks worth of dieting.
Stick with it, you'll get there, albeit frustratingly slowly.

Achieved I think we all just have to accept the no loss weeks when we are in it for the long haul. It's tough because it is such a slow process. Just keep at it.

I surprisingly lost a pound which I am not sure I deserve! Anyway that makes me 11st13 which is 1 stone weight loss since starting 5:2 and the first time I have been under 12 stone since my first pregnancy.

It's normally my fast day today but I have shifted it to tomorrow as it is fils birthday and there is steak and cake. I may forgo my chips so I can relax a bit about the cake.

Next goal for me is 11st7 which was my fat weight in my twenties Grin
