MFP to lose weight

Emz449 · 30/05/2015 18:31

Hello! I'm starting this thread to make myself accountable and as motivation. I've been using MFP for 16 days now and have lost 6lbs, really enjoying it and finding it so easy to use. I'll be posting weigh ins as and when as I am a frequent weigher! Hopefully the loses will continue Grin I started in Janaury as 14 stone 11lbs Shock but I've become complacent

Starting weight - 14 stone 11lbs
Current weight - 12 stone 5lbs
Goal weight - Currently 10 stone 11lbs but I think that I will aim lower once I reach that

On 1,450 a day with an active lifestyle. Would be great to see other peoples loses and experiences with MFP, annoyed I didn't start it sooner!

Leesmum that is a fantastic achievement, well done Smile

Rooting for all those weighing-in tomorrow aiming for a mini target Flowers Keep up the water in this heat and away from the ice cream.

Emz449 · 30/06/2015 09:17

Well done leesmum, that's brilliant!

Ha it was a big piece, it was very rich though so I don't think I could have had more then that, plus the calories wouldn't allow it

I'm still bloody 12 stone!! So that's 9 days at the same weight, it's kind of annoying me now really. Admittedly I did have a meal out on Thursday which wasn't great but I have been good as gold since then. I'll be quite disappointed if I'm not in the 11 stone bracket tomorrow really. Will be drinking lots of water today and hope for the best!

Good luck to anyone else who has a goal for tomorrow!

I meant to say as well I won't be posting as much in the evening, without wifi my data allowance is diminishing rapidly!

Star leesmum woohoo, that's brilliant!

Welcome not, you have come to the right place, good luck

I am back down to 79.9kg today, yippee! Swimming and a long dog walk last night must have done the trick.

Notstayingup · 30/06/2015 10:24

Thanks for the welcome guys - can I ask a quick question - It has given me a goal of 1200 calories a day, as I have a sedentary job - that doesn't seem like a lot of food Sad - is that standard for everyone?

Emz449 · 30/06/2015 11:02

Welcome Not! You can adjust this if you feel it's not realistic, if you click on goals you can change the amount. I personally try and stick to 1200 and eat my exercise calories if I need something else

Well done Dogs!

Welcome aboard Not Smile You have the same daily goal as me. Its not the same for everyone.

I felt like you the first day - how was I going to survive on just 1200 calories. For me the answer is eat in bulk a lot of low calorie food. For example a cod loin baked in the oven with a mixed salad and 3 small new potatoes is a big meal and not a lot more than a cheese and tomato toastie that will leave you still hungry.

Also you can 'earn' yourself some calories. A 20 minute walk at a slow pace burns 73 calories so you can eat those back and still be on target.

HTH

Bathsheba3 · 30/06/2015 11:38

4lbs Lee - amazing! What a boost - and hopefully incentive to keep it up.

And back in the 70's again today Dogs - knew you could do it. 75 the next target ?

I'm on 1200 too Not. As fortified said, it requires careful thinking and planning. Shows you too the empty pitfall foods. For the same cals as one small bag crisps, I can have poached egg on 1/2 slice rye bread and sautéed spinach.

1200 does work though. It made me work out what a "normal" portion of something was. It also helps to reduce size of stomach.

Well Emz & Jonty. I was 12 1 this morning. I had lots of beans for my dinner last night (cannellini beans with tuna & salad) hoping that the extra fibre might help me loose the extra 1lb. But even if it isn't 11 tmw, I really can't believe I have lost a whole 13 lbs since 1st June !!!! Am so chuffed. Couldn't have done it without you guys. FlowersFlowers

leesmum · 30/06/2015 11:54

Thanks everyone I just need to keep going at it! Bath and Dogs well done on your loses and hiya to Not I'll be honest my diet is very boring, every day apart from dinner is pretty much the same, I'm on 1200 cals and morning is 2 weetabix with 100 mls semi skimmed milk, two pieces of fruit at lunch, then I use about 100 cals a day on tea/coffee which leaves me about 500/600 cals for dinner and I have done that for past week, most days I have been about 50 cals under so its working!

Titsalinabumsquash · 30/06/2015 12:00

Can I join? Smile

I'm using MFP to shed my post baby weight, I'm still feeding dd (11 weeks) so I'm on 1600 kcal a day, I'm doing well so far, losing a steady 2lbs a week.

I'm 11st 4 at the moment, I've set lots of little goals, first one is to get into the 10 stone bracket before my sisters wedding in August. Then it will be 10 1/2 stone then into the 9's where I will probably stop.

I'm only 5ft so I'm massively over weight but I'm taking the slow and steady approach with DP joining in too.

He's got a Jawbone that's working well for him so i might get one too Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 30/06/2015 12:40

not you can eat really well even on 1200 a day. I'm on the same and today's menu is as follows:
Breakfast:
One boiled egg, bowl of natural yogurt with raspberries and melon

Lunch: stir fry of courgette ribbons, yellow pepper, some chilli and half a tin of red salmon

Dinner: spaghetti bolognese (home made) with 50g pasta and 175ml glass of wine
Snack: celery stick wit 10g peanut butter

Notstayingup · 30/06/2015 13:49

Thanks for the advice guys - I am planning very carefully. Did a lot of exercise yesterday and ended up with an extra 1000 calories?! Maybe I will eat some of those today

Notstayingup · 30/06/2015 13:49

meant to also say amazing loss Bathsheba!

Emz449 · 30/06/2015 14:15

Well done Bath that's brilliant! So happy for you ??

Bathsheba3 · 30/06/2015 22:09

Thanks all. Am rather chuffed. If I can do it, ANYONE can. I have a do this weekend and ordered a pair of size 14 fitted cropped trousers from warehouse. They fit !!!! Am utterly amazed.

Just wondering if you are OK peacoat? You have dropped off the radar. If you're still checking in, come back & join us. We'll get you motivated again.

Good luck with the big weigh-in tomorrow - & sure there will be someone moving into the 11s. You both deserve to Emz & Jonty. Fingers crossed.

imustbepatient · 30/06/2015 22:48

Brilliant work bath, dogs and lees.

And welcome titsalina!

For those with the big weigh in tomorrow try not to be too despondent if it doesn't start with an 11. You have done fantastically well and it will come one day soon! With the heat spike this week, bodies can play up with water retention / salt / hydration issues.

A whoosh of weight loss will be on the way I'm sure.

Love hearing about your size 14 trousers Bath! I went shopping today in an effort to find some more summer clothes that fit . I felt fairly rubbish and fat in the first few things I tried on but ended up finding a couple of nice things even a size 16 (non stretchy) skirt that fitted perfectly. Vanity sizing what vanity sizing But it really has spurred me on to aim for the 16s in everything, then 14s and then the holy grail of being a 12 again.

Plus I bought some nice new running gear, as my current stuff is looking beyond tired. So I am all excited for my next run tomorrow.

must stop shopping now

Good luck for tomorrow / rest of the week everyone Smile

JontyDoggle37 · 01/07/2015 07:03

Morning all! Well, I just missed it, weighing in at 12 St 0 1/4lbs! But I lost 7lbs in June, so I'm really chuffed, and as most of that was in the last two weeks, I'm going with my target of losing ten pounds in July and getting down to 11st 4.
Emz and Bath I hope you manage to skip in under the line!

leesmum · 01/07/2015 07:49

Jonty you've done Fab to lose half a stone in June!!! You'll get there Smile

Emz449 · 01/07/2015 08:38

Well I made it! 11 stone and 13lbs this morning, my body must have been listening to my tantrums and protests Grin Very happy, and to celebrate? We're going to the pub for lunch today, I've planned what I'm going to have and will make it work within my calories. Probably won't weigh tomorrow though just in case ha.

Well done Jonty, that's great Smile I might join you with that 10lbs loss in June goal

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 01/07/2015 08:45

Well done Jonty. Amazing loss in 2 weeks. I will try and aim for 11 4 too to keep you company and spur me on.

Ohh - a new skirt imust !!! Know what you mean about vanity sizing. Small steps, but you will get to straight 16's, then 14's.

I am wearing a dress today. OK, so it is a maxi, but still a dress! The prospect of wearing "summer" clothes is beginning to be less traumatic. I have a whole suitcase of clothes that haven't been warn for 3 + years.

OK Emz? Everyone else OK? Keep drinking water. I don't feel like much food in this heat, which must be a good thing Wink

Bathsheba3 · 01/07/2015 08:47

Fab Emz. Hurray hurray hurray! (Me too !)

Curiousrugbymum · 01/07/2015 09:03

Well done folks / fabulous to see such positive progress Smile

I have been really good all week, went on scales at gym this morning (do not have them at home) and have lost precisely zero Sad. Hoping the magic will kick in next week!

Emz449 · 01/07/2015 11:00

Thank you Smile Very happy

Having problems at the moment with EDF, I'm confused and annoyed really. Last week we were 238 in credit so thought brill, we would get that back and do something nice with it. However we submitted the meter reading and got our final bill last night which was 323! So now we have to pay 85. I don't really understand it tbh and having it looked into.

Our broadband is arriving on the 17th though!

OP posts:
imustbepatient · 01/07/2015 11:10

Woohoo fantastic Emz, Bath and Jonty! Well done to all of you!

Hang in there rugby it will start coming off soon. Crazy as it sounds it really could be just the sudden heat spike (assuming it is happening where you are!) is giving you a false reading because of water retention etc.

Bath I know just what you mean about summer clothes becoming less daunting or at least that is where I want to get to, ie not having to worry about chaffing concerns when choosing outfits, finding tops that hide my arms rather than all the strappy stuff around, and that eternal problem of needing thicker material to hide lumps and bumps but wanting thin material in the heat!

I am going to lose this weight come hell or high water and then summer clothes will be a joy!

Despite all that moaning I still love this heat and wouldn't trade it! Grin

imustbepatient · 01/07/2015 13:23

I have just returned from my run a dripping pool of sweat. Mmmm attractive! Just felt the need to share Grin

Emz449 · 01/07/2015 14:43

Ha well done imust! It is crazy hot today, I am not a hot weather person, burn too easily and sun just gets my eyes even though I wear sunglasses so I'm in awe that you've been able to run in it!

Pub lunch was very good, I had a steak and red onion ciabatta (only had half of the ciabatta) and chips and I'm so glad I did, it was great Grin

I'll be having a very light dinner tonight, more like what I would have for lunch usually for damage limitation purposes. I may weigh myself tomorrow just to see, but will remind myself that if it's gone up it's because I had a more carby meal than usual and I still made my June goal!
