Trying to lose 1 lb per week

Undefined · 23/04/2015 14:02

I'm currently 15 st 10 lb at 5'7" and want to lose a pound each week until I get down to my goal weight of 10 st. I know I have a long, long journey but I want to do it slowly because I have a history a yo-yo dieting. I have previously gained and lost 5 stone in a year (not the same year) and I don't want to be doing that for the rest of my life. I'm quite happy to lose a pound a week and be a couple of stone lighter in 6 months time.

My stats are:

Starting Weight: 15 st 11 lb
Current Weight: 15 st 10 lb
Short term goal: 15 st 7 lb
Long term goal: 10 st 0 lb

Weigh in day is Tuesday.

Anyone want to join me?

Welcome to the gang Pained1, best of luck for your first week.
Meadow if you were to eat similar to what you eat on a 1000 day but just more of what you fancy, would that help keep you within your 2000? Do you enjoy the 1000 day foods? What struck me about your list of food for yesterday is there was quite a lot of sugar - I find sugar makes me crave sugar if you know what I mean.
Hmm, how am I doing? Ok until I snaffled a bag of velvet crunch, not bad at 86cals but followed swiftly by a bar of chocolateBlush My problem is it's a quiet day in work, too much time to think about food! I should still be under 1500 but the goal of a 1000 isn't doable. Oh well, it wasn't that realistic. I'm very bunged up, more tmi guys sorry, and it's making me feel yuck. Poor me, wahhhWink Bootcamp in the morning, still in pain from yesterday. Need to bathe in nurofen, never mind Epsom salts!

meadowquark · 09/07/2015 09:33

Hello is everyone alive? Welcome Pained! Few changes in you rdiet and you will achieve your GW in no time!

Not2 I hope your work is not too quiet today. Boredom can cause eating.

I checked my food diary since the start of my diet 10 days ago. 1000kcal days - all done well. Normal day record - within 2100 - 31000 kcal range. I think I start to realize taht my normals days is my problem, and I have to clean up my normal day eating. Probably far too much sugar, hence cravings, and too much of snacking.

Today is my 1000kcal. This one is becoming easy peasy :)
Almost dreading the normal day tomorrow..

Not2bObvious · 09/07/2015 10:07

Meadow just a suggestion but could you put the care and effort that do put in your 1000 days into your 2000? I think you have to be able to adjust what you eat so you can do it consistently, build a taste for better foods with the odd treat. So allow yourself chocolate etc but at the end of the day when you've all your cals allocated. If you regularly go to 3000, you'll cancel out the good of the 1000's. For me, if I eat 2000 a day I gain, I absolutely hate the way that figure is flouted as the amount of calories you need to not gain weight, it's not true for lots of people.
More to do today thankfully which is good as I'm tired and a tad hungover (shameful Wednesday night wineBlush) Had whole grain toast, 1.5 slice, with a small amount of butter for brekkie, I was craving carbs! Just had a few almonds with an apple, small portion of spag Bol with Wholewheat pasta for lunch, omelette for dinner. Weigh in tomorrow, oh pls let me still be under 12 stone Sad

Not2bObvious · 10/07/2015 07:46

Back down to 11.13.4, so a little further under 12 but still .2 of a pound up on my lowest weight from 2 weeks ago. But I have NSV's to report! I did a run this morning and it was definately closer to a run than my normal jog so I believe my fitness is improving. Arms feel more toned, middle a little leaner. I'll just keep chugging on. I've a busy weekend ahead and hope to squeeze in another run before Monday. How's everyone doing?

Not2bObvious · 12/07/2015 04:00

Anyone else sharing are we on a dying thread? I'd love to keep it going, I know it's the weekend but if you can continute

Not2bObvious · 12/07/2015 04:00

Damn I mean contribute

meadowquark · 12/07/2015 07:58

Not2 why are you awake at 4am? Good to hear that you achieved your goal to be under 12st, you should easily reach that .2 below the 2 weeks ago within the coming week. And well done for running and feeling fitter!

I am ok, really loving my alternate day diet. I don't feel like I am missing out because there is always tomorrow. In addition I walked 6 miles last Friday, very proud of myself. (don't feel like running yet).

My lovely aupair is leaving next week after one year and I am shattered. I know I will miss him loads.

cawoo2 · 12/07/2015 11:19

Still here Not2bObvious. Well done on the trek meadowquark. I think running is overrated anyway. All the science points to walking being better for you, your joints and state of mind.

Now for the figures:

Starting weight: 10' 0"
Last week's weight: 9' 10"
Today: 9' 9.75"

It's like watching paint dry. Hanging on to the 1lb a week target by a whisker - thanks to a good first week. Being positve, at least it's a change in the right direction.

meadowquark · 13/07/2015 08:36

Well done cawoo!

My weigh in today. Lost 3lbs. Now 230lbs. It is obvious how the weight loss slows down after a first week, but I am ok with that.

cawoo2 · 13/07/2015 08:48

Well done to you too, meadowquark. Your weekly weight loss makes me envious and your total weight loss is absolutely amazing.

Pained1 · 13/07/2015 09:13

Well it's weigh in day tomorrow but I had a sneaky peak this morning and as long as I can keep it off by tomorrow, I've lost another pound which will make me 11st 8lbs :-)

meadowquark · 13/07/2015 10:31

Oh Pained1, it is great news.

In fact I lost 4lbs (calculated wrong previously - I weigh in kg). Total 10lbs loss in 2 weeks. cawoo don't envy I am sure mine will slow down to mere 1lbs in few weeks time; also my starting weight was very height (I bet you don't envy that :) ) and I do believe in calorie cycling.

meadowquark · 13/07/2015 10:31

*starting weight was very high

Not2bObvious · 13/07/2015 18:46

Well done Meadow! That's an amazing start, at my rate of loss it would take me 3-4 months to lose that. I've had a ridiculously indulgent weekend and feel dreadful, exhausted and like a barrel. I did enjoy it at the time but I doubt I'll have good news when I weigh in on Friday, I need to toe the line very seriously this week - only just within cals today but did my bootcamp and close to 12,000 steps so it's a start. Well done Pained and cawoo, I'm getting all encouraged hearing of all the losses.

hambo · 17/07/2015 10:19
