Trying to lose 1 lb per week

Undefined · 23/04/2015 14:02

I'm currently 15 st 10 lb at 5'7" and want to lose a pound each week until I get down to my goal weight of 10 st. I know I have a long, long journey but I want to do it slowly because I have a history a yo-yo dieting. I have previously gained and lost 5 stone in a year (not the same year) and I don't want to be doing that for the rest of my life. I'm quite happy to lose a pound a week and be a couple of stone lighter in 6 months time.

My stats are:

Starting Weight: 15 st 11 lb
Current Weight: 15 st 10 lb
Short term goal: 15 st 7 lb
Long term goal: 10 st 0 lb

Weigh in day is Tuesday.

Anyone want to join me?

how is everyone getting on? I feel like I'm doing ok, I'm not really snacking and I've been having so many fruits and veggies. not sure what to have for tea tonight x

OctopusArmEnvy · 30/04/2015 16:06

Can I join too? I've slowly put on weight since having my first DS - 3DCs later it's time to sort it out!
I've always been very snacking and an emotional eater - in the past this was covered up by doing triathlons, running and cycling to work!! I now don't work or have the time for all that exercise!!
Starting weight : 11st 7
Current weight : 11st 6
Short term goal : 11st
Long terms goal : 9st 7

Method - my fitness pal and running 3 days a week
Good luck everyone!! Xx

ToastMakesMeHappy · 30/04/2015 18:13

Well done themumfairy for not snacking.
I've had 6, yes, 6 bags of crisps today amongst other crappy food. This is where I would hide the rubbish from DH and get a takeaway for dinner as id already messed up, and then stuff my face for a week or so as I had failed. But instead I am on here telling the truth to any of you who are reading. I shall have a cuppa soup for my dinner tonight and start a fresh tomorrow. Blush

OctopusArmEnvy · 30/04/2015 23:05

Hey toastmakesmehappy I'm impressed with you not heading on down that spiral. I've done the whole packs of biscuits or whole multipacks of crisps too in the past. So easy to just say well today is stuffed so may as well keep going. Go to bed tonight thinking of today as a win not feeling bad about the crisps xx

The allotment is lovely Toast and Fox. We only got it 2 weeks ago and it's a new plot. If only I could stop FIL from scouring skips for old rubbish to 'help us' build up our plot. I know he's trying to be helpful but yesterday was the third time I arrived at the site to find another pile of rotten wood and rusty metal. It's a headache trying to get rid of it without offending him.

Kraggle and Octopus great to have you here.

Since a few of us have 'confessed' about our bad eating habits I'll be honest about what has got me as big as I am. I drink too much. I get lonely and bored in the evening and I drink lager.

Something good to counter my drinking is that I've given up smoking. It's been almost 16 weeks since I last smoked and I've probably put on a stone or so since then. I don't mind that though. I hated being a smoker.

octopus I'm laughing at myself for eating that much junk yesterday, it's so stupid and I felt so bad for it. Hopefully I won't do that again for a while.

How is everyone feeling today? We are facing a 3 day weekend, so lots of food obstacles for us to face and hard but healthy choices to make.

undefined well done you for giving up smoking. I gained 3 stone when I quit.. Although I was pregnant too. I don't have any advice on cutting bank or giving up drinking but hopefully someone wise will be along soon.

OctopusArmEnvy · 01/05/2015 10:03

I have non alcoholic beer at the mo such as Becks Blue as I am breast feeding. Taste is ok and I think it's less calories???
Bank holiday will definately be a struggle especially as DH has helped out by doing the supermarket shop - lots of fruit and veggies as he knows I'm dieting (yeah) but planned meals are things like pulled pork sandwiches for lunch and croissants for breakfast! Delisous but I will have to exercise sooo much self control (yeah right ;-)
Good luck everyone!!

Foxongiraffe · 01/05/2015 16:15

Hi everyone - hope you are all well. Don't worry about the crisps toast - i like your words start fresh tomorrow. Am doing ok - trying to live normally but making better choices - went to pub last night and had a pint - first booze for days but only had carrots and peanut butter for dinner so thought I would be ok. Took kids swimming this morn and just been to gym as going out for dinner - prob pizza express as kids still very young - have checked the carbs and calories of everything, think the caesar salad will be my best bet. Craving a pizza though! I am a but worried that i may just stay the same size and weight as I am not sure if i am 'under' eating enough. We shall see! Happy weekend all - a long one too!

ToastMakesMeHappy · 01/05/2015 17:18

We all sound so similar! Be strong at pizza express, you will feel so much better if you have a nice salad. Pizza will make you bloated and sluggish.. I've already had some tuna pasta for dinner with DD, hopefully I won't snack this evening then my body can really digest what I've eaten today. We can all get through this weekend. Hoping I won't be back on here Monday morning reporting the takeaways and wine.. Fingers crossed we are all sensible!

Foxongiraffe · 01/05/2015 19:29

Am back! We actually ended up at Prezzo - tonight was a bit of a compromise - i had the chicken caesar salad on a flatbread. No pudding, no booze, no kid leftovers. Very proud of myself - i have never ordered a salad before! It was lovely and not too filling - you are right toast i am not bloated as the flatbread was small. Phew! One challenge down....many more to go! Stay strong people!

Undefined · 02/05/2015 02:04

Thanks Toast. To be fair I have absolutely no idea how much I've gained since I quit. I didn't weigh myself at first because I didn't want to see the pounds piling on and use it as an excuse to start smoking again. How long has it been since you gave up?

Octopus That food sounds marvellous! I could never drink low alcohol beer as I don't really like the taste of alcohol. I just love that ahhh feeling you get when you've had a couple. Not drunk, but just enough to tell the brain that it's time to relax.

Fox well done. I'm going to admit that I read your post earlier (didn't have time to reply then) and thought "Balls to salad, I'd have the pizza". Then, DS started moaning that I wanted him to go for a haircut with his dad, and it's the weekend, and he wants to talk to his mates, and it's not fair, and on and on. So I bribed him by saying I'd treat him to KFC on the way home if he would just bloody well go. So, DP and DS had delicious greasy fried chicken and I had, guess what? A chicken salad! Yay!!

Oh and well done on the exercise as well. You've been a saint today!

Foxongiraffe · 02/05/2015 07:58

Well done! Do.you feel.better for choosing that or do you feel hard done by? I felt better - and wasn't so full that I felt sick. Hopefully never again.

Kraggle · 02/05/2015 09:19

Morning all, I had my take away yesterday (kfc) put everything in to my fitness pal and was only 200 calories over my allowance for the day which evens out over the weeks as I have had 3 or 4 days of being under my calorie allowance.

Going for a walk with dh and ds this afternoon if it's not raining so that will help a little.

Im getting used to measuring and weighing things, 40grams of a sharing bag of crisps instead of the whole bag. 150ml of milk and 2 tsp of sugar on my 2 wheetabix instead of a massive heap of sugar and as much milk as I wanted to fill the bowl.

One boiled egg and one slice of brown seeded toast no butter for lunch instead of 2 eggs and 4 slices of buttered toast. I just keep thinking all these little changes must help in the long run!

Not looking forward to weighing day on Tuesday. If ive not lost anything I might cry!

No plans over the bank holiday and we're skint so no eating out or temptations for us! What plans does everyone else have?

Foxongiraffe · 03/05/2015 08:55

Good plan Kraggle - portion size is my issue too. Am really sure that I won't have lost anything this week - had a scone yesterday and a pint the other day. May not weigh myself on Tues but wait til next Tues as I don't want the disappointment!

ToastMakesMeHappy · 03/05/2015 18:15

Just quickly checking in to say keep up the good work if you have been good. I on the other hand have had Burger King today Blush
Long walk and extra strict tomorrow to make up for it.. Catch up with you all Tuesday.

themumfairy · 04/05/2015 16:43

A big mac accidently fell in my mouth. I'm ashamed, not it tasted so good. I am not looking forward to Tuesday. Shock

Foxongiraffe · 04/05/2015 21:31

Ah nevermind. Wait a week to weigh if you like - I may do this!

Flovblov · 04/05/2015 23:13

Sad Reporting early as I know I won't have lost even that 1 pound by the morning. Had too many sudden stress inducing days this week and so all my plans to walk have failed daily.

Hope everyone has managed and that I can finally join the " losers" next week.

ToastMakesMeHappy · 05/05/2015 07:03

I'm up 2lbs Shock so gutted but knew I wouldn't of lost. I usually weigh on a Friday so might work extra hard and weigh again then.

Flovblov · 05/05/2015 07:46

I thought I would report back properly as I made myself step on the scales this morning. Sadly I have put on a pound. So ridiculously easy to put one on than to take it off at present. Hoping to continue to make small steps towards a loss for next week and not have two massive blow outs instead.

My biggest problem has been being stressed so can't face food then pigging out on fatty foods/snacks as Im too hungry suddenly. Just can't make myself eat and yet I know what inevitably happens next even though I tell myself it wont this time!

OctopusArmEnvy · 05/05/2015 15:47

Sorry to hear that everyone has struggled over the bank holiday :-( I guess the main thing is to keep our chins up and plough on... We can do this!!!
I weighed in with a 2lb loss this morning so feeling pleased - must make sure that I don't think that this means I can snack now!! ;-)
Stats :
Starting weight : 11st 7lb
Current weight : 11st 4lb
Short term goal : 11st
Long term goal : 9st 7lb
Good luck this week everyone!! Xx

Foxongiraffe · 05/05/2015 16:50

Hi guys, don't worry about gains, make it up over the next week! Well done Octopus! I didn't weigh today but will do it in the morn. Fingers crossed

ToastMakesMeHappy · 05/05/2015 16:55

I think we are all kindred spirits on here.. We need to join together and get through those weekends without eating rubbish. I feel bloated and uncomfortable today after eating badly at the weekend. That will teach me (I wish)

Foxongiraffe · 05/05/2015 20:28

I agree Toast - let's never look back and only forward, and never feel guilty if we hop off for a while. Blimey, it's like a pledge!! Will update weight in morning.

Foxongiraffe · 06/05/2015 06:33

My target this week was 84kg as I was 84.5kg last week. My weight today is 83.7kg so i am pleased. Target is 83kg next week. Keep going everyone!
