Anyone up for a 'eat a bit less, do a bit more' thread?

Just got a new work skirt in a size 20 and it's too tight!! I am gutted. I got down to a lovely size 12 after dc4 and I've slowly gained and gained and here I am :(

While I was in hospital after DC4, I was moaning about how much weight I had to lose and a lovely midwife said, 'all you have to do, is eat a bit less and do a bit more, and you will lose weight', so that's what I did. I lost 4 stone ! I didn't follow any diet, just ate less and did more.

Well since then, I have lost my way and have obviously reversed the idea and have been eating a bit more and doing a bit less Blush but I know I can do it this way so I'm going to try again. Anyone want to join me?

I was going to start after Easter but, inspired by the tight skirt, I have started today! So, I've weighed myself and have written it in my diary and :

Eat less: I had a small bowl of porridge and an apple for breakfast instead of my usual 2 slices of buttery toast, I had one biscuit instead of, erm, 6 mid morning, I had a sandwich and a satsuma instead of a sandwich and a bag of crisps at lunch and for dinner, I had spag bol like the rest of the family but had a much smaller portion instead of matching my DH and teenage DC portion size and one small piece of garlic bread instead of three Blush. Evenings are my absolute danger time but tonight I've had nothing :)

Do more: I took the dog for a half hour walk instead of a 10 minute 'round the block'.

So, that's how I'm going to try and drop 4 dress sizes....anyone want to join me? :)

I'd like to join pls with the aim of losing my last 11lb of baby weight! My daughter is one tomorrow and I swore it would be gone by now. I want to get back to 11st. I'm strangely back in pre-pregnancy size 12 jeans, albeit with a muffin top. My size 12 dresses also fit but I want them to hang better. I swore I woudnt balloon after having kids and I'm determined to stick to that rule. Good luck everyone!

Playthegameout · 16/04/2015 18:00

Can I join up too please. Dh and I started this in Jan and did really well, then I totally fell off the wagon when ds was ill and wasn't sleeping very well. Unfortunately that was the start of March so I've totally undone all my good work. I stopped c25k too even though I was on week 8. I'm a total flake, but I do really want to try again and hope this will keep me motivated.

Flingingmelon · 16/04/2015 18:18

Talking about flake, I'm still running and still overeating. I'm not getting any bigger but I need to escape the fridge.

I just need to get my shit together :s

Didnt do much walking today, I was knackered . I took the dog to the park after the school run and it was horrible . There had been a very heavy dew and my trainers are mesh. I squelshed around for 2500 steps then gave up.
Was rearranging my bedroom and had no energy for anything else except a nap
Still managing not to over eat.
I didnt weight myself but a pair of trousers that wouldn't meet last week, do today. Though I do have to breath in Grin

Cocolepew · 16/04/2015 19:16

Oops thought this was the walking thread Blush

MamOfTwo · 19/04/2015 09:29

I have lost another 4lb! I am going to do a weigh-in every Sunday and post here as it makes me accountable. Now x.3 having started at x.13. I am pleased but I normally do well on week 1 and 2 of a diet/health kick, but it is the upcoming week 3 when things start to go pear-shaped (quite literally!). I have been trying hard to move more and have even been out on my rusty bike a few times - I love cycling as it doesn't really feel like exercise. Hope I can keep this up. How are you all doing? May all your clothes be feeling looser!

Cocolepew · 19/04/2015 10:20

Well done mam!
I lost 2lbs according to my scales . Thought it would have been more so Im a bit disappointed.

MamOfTwo · 19/04/2015 11:07

Don't be disappointed, Cocolepew - that's great! It's not always about the weight either - sometimes clothes feeling looser are a better indicator as lots of factors can affect the number the scales show. Keep going!

Cocolepew · 19/04/2015 15:48

Thanks mam I know I shouldn't moan. If I can do 1-2lb a week it has more chance of staying off.
I definitely have lost it around my stomach and the fat bit under my bra

didireallysaythat · 19/04/2015 19:14

16000 steps today. With my luck, I'll put on 6 lbs..... Feeling decidely tubby at the moment so I might try cutting out bread and seeing if that helps me feel a little less enormous around the waist. I always thought women of a certain age were being lazy when they started to have a bit of a paunch, but now I'm at the certain age I'm wondering if it's just a sudden slow down of your metabolism plus the build up to the menopause that makes losing lbs, relatively easy in your mid 30's, so much harder in your mid 40's...

nicknamenonsense · 19/04/2015 23:45

Dh birthday on Thurs has meant a weekend of over eating but back on the wagon tomorrow. Friday is normally my weigh in day so hopefully will compensate for the eating out by then!!
Keep at it didireally it will come off eventually! Well done mam & coco on your losses :)

Zeldie · 20/04/2015 07:32

Avoid junk and processed food, eat healthy(a little less obviously), exercise regularly always works for me. Hopefully, you'll lose weight in no time.

MegBusset · 20/04/2015 12:56

Had quite a wine-y weekend (and chips at the seaside yesterday) but did get up early to Shred and also put my caravan awning up so that definitely counts as moving more :)

I am under 9 and a half stone for the first time in aaaages. Feels good :)

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 20/04/2015 13:33

can I join? Have put on a stone and need to lose it. Have just joined a gym and am going to first session today. I can't run at the moment (partly reason for weight gain) due to a big operation I had in November but have been OKed to cross-train and cycle, or swim. So off to try the exercise bikes today!

Sukebind · 21/04/2015 13:25

Sigh Another less than perfect weekend but probably better than the one before. Back in with the running shoes today and walked the school run yesterday and today. Just tried to have an omelette for lunch - dh is working really late so we are eating late and so I was aiming for a filling, protein-y lunch to keep me going and not snacking too much, and found dh had eaten them all. I had already cooked up the veg so had to shove them on a slice of seedy bread with a sprinkling of cheese...

MamOfTwo · 21/04/2015 15:21

As predicted, I am finding week 3 tricky... keep thinking about Cake!

Cocolepew · 21/04/2015 17:04

Thanks nickname and well done Meg!
Im stopping bread, spuds and crackers until friday to see how I go. They all bloat me up something shocking the moment.

Oly4 · 22/04/2015 07:29

Hello all! I've lost 3lb since I joined so really happy. Mostly due to massively cutting down on wine and trying not to snack as much. I do a lot of mindless eating... Finishing the kids' tea,- chocolate or half biscuit here and there. Just 8lb to go to get to pre-pregnancy weight now. Well done everyone, think how much better you'll feel in your summer clothes!!!

shitebag · 22/04/2015 11:00

Can I join in?

I've lost 4st 8.5lbs since having DC2 in March 2013, most of that with Slimming World but recently I've been getting fed up counting syns and trying to cram in extra fruit/veg even when I'm not hungry just to meet the daily quota which obviously defeats the purpose!

My target is 10st 11.5lbs just so I can say I've lost bang on 7st and I still have 2st 5.5lbs to lose bit I'll get there, hopefully just by being sensible and eating less/moving more! :o

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 22/04/2015 12:53

Had to put 4 work skirts in spare room as they won't fit or are so tight I can't walk Sad

I need to cut back on wine and snacks - no wine except on Fri/Sat nights and try to avoid snacking if at all possible.

Have joined a gym and done 40 min work out yesterday, hoping to get 40-60 mins 3-4 times per week in.

MegBusset · 22/04/2015 13:03

I had half a bottle of wine last night followed inevitably by a chocolate craving and fell into my leftover Easter egg (luckily it was high-quality Hotel Chocolat so doesn't make me feel quite so dirty)

I felt rubbish this morning though, not used to drinking so much! Definitely need to remember that the rubbish feeling afterwards isn't worth it!

MamOfTwo · 26/04/2015 09:46

Just 1lb off this week but better than nothing, I guess. Haven't been very well this week and totally eating the wrong things. Oh well, hope to do better next week. Now x.2 and 11lb off in total. Hope everyone doing well.

MamOfTwo · 26/04/2015 11:00

Meant to add - what an amazing achievement shitebag! Do you feel like a different woman after such a big loss? Trying to remind myself of all the health benefits being lighter will bring to keep myself going.

Cocolepew · 26/04/2015 11:11

Ive managed to lose my scales Confused Im rearranging my bedroom and can't find them under the mess Blush. Im not sure Im losing much which is pissing me off.
Though I do feel much better so I will get at it.

midnight1983 · 29/04/2015 08:16

Can I join? I have a one year old, and have struggled to lose the 2 stone I put on. I actually want to lose 3 stone, as had been planning to lose some before pregnancy. I'm going to carry on with vcouch to 5k once my knees heal and try to eat smaller portions/more veg. What I really struggle with is migraines - I get them regularly and crave carbs to keep headache/nausea at bay and end up having to eat large amounts. Hoping I can break this cycle somehow...
