Alevere / Alizonne

dm2ooo · 23/03/2015 11:46

For reasons unknown, the name of the Alizonne diet has changed to Alevere. I have only known it as Alevere and wanted to start a new thread so people can find it under the new name.

I am nearing the end of week 1 and have lost 8lbs so far. I don't count this much as I lose 7lbs in the first week of any diet. I'll see how I go over the next few weeks.

It's a lot of work to follow but I'm getting used to it. Would be happy to swap tips with anyone - particularly on recipes.

Also very happy as I won £500 today which covers a lot of the 1st month costs!!! :)

Sorry, i meant real onions savoy cabbage....
Broccoli soup is becoming a fave.... Im trying not to dip into the restrictive list.... Hotchocolate with a sweetner helps when im feeling low too x

Rose62 · 01/08/2015 07:42

Day 6 for me, and my first weigh-in on Monday. I, too, am nervous about that. Very slow metabolism here too - I was told it is 990 which I find very hard to believe and am wondering whether I misheard or if not whether it might have been a mistake. I seem to have got into a routine with the diet now, and have found a few sachets I don't mind too much. Gemsta, is the broccoli soup a sachet, or one you make yourself? If you make it yourself, do you use stock or just water?

Wanttogetslimmer · 01/08/2015 22:07

Hi all, I attended my 2 week weigh in today and have lost 16lb - I couldn't believe it, but know the weight loss will slow down a bit now.

I'm off to carfest tomorrow so am hoping I will resist any food temptations, I plan to take cold drink sachets and just mix with bottled water throughout the day.

Good luck to you all, everyone is doing so well - I can't wait to catch up with you dm2000!

Xxx

gemsta26 · 02/08/2015 09:03

Make it myself, with just whole broccoli and water, dont need stock , but use the stalk and everything... I just add salt and pepper afterwards

dm2ooo · 02/08/2015 18:31

Hi everyone. Stuck on a work trip and it's a hard week. Always tough to keep regular meals between meetings. Haven't seen the people in this office for a year and people keep asking me if I changed my hair! Hahahahaha.

Just dropping in to say that your BMR is only the amount of calories your body would burn up if you did nothing all day - if you were at rest. Assuming you are even moderately active that would take most people close to 2000 calories burnt. However, if you don't do much apart from drive around and sit at a desk, the total calories you burn might not be too much higher. :)

The lower your BMR the less you can eat without putting on weight and it's useful to know so you can control your food and add more exercise. We discussed earlier in the thread that your BMR will also drop as you lose weight.

This formula was pretty accurate for me:

BMR = 10 x weight (kg) + 6.25 x height (cm) – 5 x age (years) – 161

Hi All,

That sounds a great recipe gemsta26 - I will try that tomorrow.

Did you guys to a breathing test thing that told you your resting BMR? But dm2000 is right that you can increase your BMR with exercise - I've been trying to keep up walking 10000 steps a day, but do feel much weaker since starting the diet and nearly died on a bike ride with family!

Carfest was brilliant today - really sad with the pilot dying yesterday, but Chirs Evans done a lovely minute's silence that 20000 stood still and silent for. I managed not to be tempted although it did seem to be as much a food festival as about cars. I kept to the drinks, through family having ice cream, hot dogs and pies - I think Hubby's getting a bit bored of me not joining in!

I tried using coconut oil (thought it would ok as a substitute for oil allowance) today to spread on baking paper whilst cooking the pizza base - seemed to work in terms of giving it a bit of crunch and making it easy to remove. I also tried the oats with Apple - it looked horrible but actually tasted ok.

Have a great week everyone and do please keep posting recipes and tips x

wolfie100 · 03/08/2015 11:47

Hi All, it's great to read all the comments and stories. I am so impressed at the large early weight losses some of you have had. For me I had a big weight loss in week 1 but that was it and from then on its normally been 2 to 3 lbs.

I am now at 5 stone 5.5 lbs weight loss. I am so chuffed, yes it's taken 6 months and thousands of pounds but I never thought I would be under 11 stone in my lifetime. I just can't believe it. To me it's been very well worth it.

I am aiming for 9 stone but I might stop at 10 stone - will see how I feel when I get there!

One tip I have for those with a sweet tooth is to try the caramel drink but only add half the water and make it a mousse which you leave to set in the fridge. I think it's like having a sweet creme caramel. You can do the same with the hot chocolate which is ok but not as nice as the chocolate dessert which is still my favourite sachet after all these months.

The clinic were telling me about one of their patients who only buy hot chocolate and she has that sachet 5 times a day,7 days a week!

I am interested to know how people's partners are reacting to their weight loss? For the first four stone my husband was really pleased - it was encouraging him to be healthier and he thought I looked gorgeous etc etc which was all good and what I wanted. However as I am getting slimmer now he is actually feeling a bit insecure. He said the other day that people who meet us will now think he is the fat one as he is a bit overweight (14.5 stone) as he looks big compared to me now. He seems in a real grump! Very interesting! He needs to get over this one!

I heard of one couple where the wife was dieting and the husband kept bringing her treats into the house all the time as he didn't want her to lose the weight because he was so scared he would lose her if she did because she would be able to get someone better looking than him if she was slim. She came off the diet to keep him happy! This is not a good story! What are other people's experiences?

Keep up the good work everyone.
Xx

Nore22 · 03/08/2015 14:02

Hello!
Day 8 here! I lost 3.1k on week 1!!(6lbs) Im very very happy about it :-) so that should keep me motivated for week 2. Today I brought Pizza to work and it was OK actually, I think I may do that often (although it doesnt really taste like Pizza).... I tried the caramel and coconout for the first time this WE and really liked them...not so sure about the orange+grapefruit but we will see. Hope you all have a good week.

Wanttogetslimmer · 03/08/2015 15:13

Well done Nore22 - great weight loss! At least when you have that kind of weight loss in week one it makes a difference to how your clothes feel and that helps with the motivation. I am about 1.5 weeks ahead of you, and I feel it is getting easier and I am in the swing of things now - I have had several temptations (carfest being the biggest) and so far I have not touched a thing that i am not allowed.

Wolfie100 - wow - you have done brilliantly, what a fantastic weight loss! Although you say it has been slow for you, I don't think any other diet would have given you a consistent 2/3lbs every week and to lose almost 5.5 stone in 6 months is still a huge achievement.

I think in terms of partners, it is too early for me to say if he will feel insecure - I don't think he will, but time will tell. I do however think he is getting fed up with me not joining him for a glass of wine or nice food - he says it doesn't taste the same without someone to share it with (and I do understand that, I have felt the same in the past - wine on your own is not the same).

But I do have to stick to it, I no longer want to be ashamed every time I bump into someone I haven't seen for a while, or assume everyone judges me at work based on me being large.

The good news is my current size is already getting lose and I do feel really good. I do feel headachy now and again, but I know I don't drink enough water - I am working on this now.

Keep going everyone - I can't wait until it is me saying I have lost 5 stone! xx

Pipan127 · 03/08/2015 16:46

Well this thread is keeping me going as have had a long gap between appointments due to my work rota. It'll be 13 days between weigh ins! I need that fix now. I accidentally dropped an egg yolk into the bowl of 'whites' today and decided just to have it. Hope that doesn't make any enormous difference. Friday is the big day so hope I have something exciting to report on here! Pizza tonight - have had to force myself as I seem to be living on omelettes and soup. Loving the hot Chocolate though at night time and the caramel drink too. Anyone tried the coconut yet? Some brilliant weight losses so far on here. I can hardly wait to get into the 'exciting zone' of 3 stone plus losses. My original target is to lose 7 stone. 6 still to go then. Just think we could all be 4 stone lighter at Christmas - what a fantastic thought! Stay positive peeps. X

ritzyAish · 04/08/2015 11:02

I'm on my 4th week now. Had some guests from the US for the summer and hence had very little spare time to check in here. It was very interesting to read all the updates today - way to go, people! Smile

Here is my update: I've had a total of 4.7 kilos (10 pounds) lost so far, so I've been averaging 2.5 pounds per week. While it's not as high as others reported here, it is the maximum I've ever lost - period! I guess its true that the rate of weight loss is different from person to person , given I have been so good for the 4 weeks, even with guests here - cooking for them was easy and I was not tempted, even once, to sample! And they were also quite supportive of my diet, so thank God for that.

So, now I hope to be able to check-in here more frequently to feel motivated and energised Smile.

@Pipan127 - I tried the coconut drink today - picked one up from the swap box when I was in the clinic yesterday. I found it a bit too sweet for my taste, but reasonably ok with the floating flakes and all. My favourites are the cold caramel drink and the orange and pineapple, so far. I'm finding it easier with cold drinks than with sachets that need preparation, but that may change in the coming weeks Hmm.

Do keep the posts coming - very motivating!

Pipan127 · 05/08/2015 18:47

Hmmm.. Thanks RitzyAish for the heads up on the coconut drink. I might get a swap box one instead of a whole box. I really like the smoky bacon omelette as it doesn't take long to prepare and it's hot food! I have it with aubergine, courgette, mushrooms, a few tomatoes, celery cooked in lots of garlic salt and spices. It lasts for a few days and is very yummy!

Vjh85 · 06/08/2015 17:44

Hey all, so I've just had my free consultation and think I'm gonna bite the bullet and go for it!

Got the blood test and breathing thing asking with the doctors visit booked in for next week and then off I go!

Any tips or advice for my first week?

Thanks!

Wanttogetslimmer · 06/08/2015 21:19

Hi Vjh85,

My advice for the first 2 days is to make sure you are able to rest - it will be odd but maybe start on the Friday or Saturday, so when you get your withdrawal from sugar headache you are not at work or busy.

I have been in on the diet for 3 weeks on Saturday but had my weigh in today as I'm away at the weekend and I have lost 21lb. I know my weight loss is pretty high, but I think everyone is losing weight faster than any other diet they have done so you are making the right decision.

I have had a few social occasions but I haven't been tempted - the fact I am paying so much and losing the weight is keeping me on track, as well as the fact I am not hungry.

I have just tried the chicken nuggets for the first time - they taste quie good but need lots of seasoning, even though they taste nothing like chicken nuggets. I had them with garlic mushrooms and rocket salad which was lovely.

I seem to stick to drinks during the day and have a hot meal in the evening which is working for me.

Good luck to you for starting and to everyone else. X

wolfie100 · 06/08/2015 21:19

Hi vjh85 - go for it, it's well worth it. You will find there may be a couple of pain barriers in the first couple of sed

wolfie100 · 06/08/2015 21:25

Sorry that posted before I finished typing!
I was going to say there may be a couple of difficult bits in the first few weeks but bear them out and you will soon be through the pain barrier and each weigh in will spur you on.
I would also try as many different sachets as you can because it's really good fun finding out what you like and don't like.
My final tip is remove all temptation from the house - get rid of the bread, cheese, wine, chocolate or whatever else that you love. Everyone has weak moments and it's even easier to slip if the tempting things are in the house. Explain to the people you live with and am sure they will understand and support you. Good luck!!!! X

Nore22 · 07/08/2015 11:51

Hi vjh85,
First two days are tough but not because you are hungry, mainly because of the adjustments to the hours, the flavours etc it definitely gets easier though!. Im on day 12 - 2nd weight in today later on. Im going on holidays for 4 days and im a bit worried about temptations outside my rutine...so wish me luck...
Wanttogetslimmer Wow you are such an inspiration...it is a long way to go for me yet but i was panicking slightly after i read somewhere that people put the weight back on once they stop with the satchets...have you heard/seen anything about it?
keep strong and motivated!! :-)

Wanttogetslimmer · 07/08/2015 13:35

Hi Nore22 - I spoke to my therapist about this, and whilst she is likely to be biased, she said as long as you follow all the phases at the end and take note of your finishing BMR you wont put weight on. She said the people she sees that have put the weight back on did not finish the whole diet and are coming back for a second try.

I will be doing my very best not to put the weight back on, but I guess every diet has this risk if you go back to eating badly - I am not planning on doing this.

It is still early days for us, and some of the other people in this thread - but I am sure 'the experts' like Wolfie100 and dm2000 will let us know what is is like at the end long before we get there.

Good luck on Holiday - just stay strong and think about your success to date .
x

wolfie100 · 07/08/2015 23:57

Hi Nore22

I know 5 people who have done Alizonne (before it changed)- 4 men and one woman. All of them finished more than a year ago.

The woman and one of the men have kept all the weight off and are still very slim and healthy.

Another man lost 3 stone and has kept 2 of those stone off. He was actually too skinny when he finished and so now is just right for him.

The other 2 men have put it all back on and potentially more. I am sure it's because they have busy work lives which involve a lot of lunches and dinners and that involves too much temptation. I know they also both like wine!

So I say that's a 60% medium term success rate in my small sample.

Personally I am really worried about finishing and how it will be but I will keep you posted. I keep getting told it only takes a month to break bad habits though so hopefully I have broken all mine after 6 months. I am going to visit the clinic most weeks to start with as part of lifetime maintenance while I get used to having finished.

I wonder whether there is anyone on mumsnet who has finished and could tell us how they are doing?

Enjoy the weekend.

essy28 · 08/08/2015 08:31

Hi, I'm on week 6 now and have lost 2 stone. Was a bit gutted at the weigh in this week when I had neither gained or lost weight - guess us women have to deal with hormones!! Anyone else had this happen to them? Each week I have had different cravings of foods I'm missing but have been amazed by my will power to stick with the diet.
Everybody's stories inspire me knowing other people have positive results keeps me going - well done everyone!!
My favourite sachet is the chicken curry soup, I use it with half the water and mix it with cooked veg and cauliflower rice just like having a curry!!

Pipan127 · 08/08/2015 14:52

Well finally got weighed yesterday after a 13 day break and I had lost another 8 lbs!!! That makes 1stone 12lbs so far after six weeks! So pleased with myself. Feeling inspired! I haven't weighed this for about ten years as I had lost 1 st 5lbs before I started the Alevere diet. Back to reality I do still have 5 stone to lose.

2petcats · 09/08/2015 15:11

I'm new. Day 1 of what I fear will be a long journey. 9 St to lose, though may stop at 7. I think I'm in the right frame of mind and have found the posts on this site really interesting. Not sure how I'm going to fit it all in but will try..... first weigh in on 21st, they couldn't fit me in before then. Will keep a close eye on this chain. You all seem to be doing so well!

singy · 09/08/2015 21:24

Hi All,
Just thought id drop an update on as i haven't for quite a while.

Progress has slowed somewhat, although that's nothing to do with the diet. I decided to phase off the diet about 3 weeks ago, so immediately started phase 2 and now since Saturday phase 3, i will be moving to 4-7 over the following two weeks with my final doctors appointment on the 28th of August.

To date i have lost 41.20KG or 90.83 LB since February, all but 27LB of that has been while dong the Alevere Diet.

Moving back toward more real food has been ok, i find im not too interested in food anymore though, where it used to be a really enjoyable experience, perhaps my fear of ever regaining the weight has caused this. In 3 weeks i will find out i suppose.

I haven't really lost much on phase 2, probably down to the much shorted period i have followed it for, plus i have had a few cheat days for special occasions. I had a few drinks (Gin) last night which has left me feeling particularly horrendous today, my reduced weight has affected my tolerance levels as well, or maybe im just out of practice.

I expect to continue to lose some weight once ive finished the diet as my habits have changed and i hope to start exercising once finished, which i always found to be very hard carrying the excess weight.

I will update again once ive finished and maybe in a few months to let you know good or bad news with regard to final metabolic rate.

Andy

Vjh85 · 13/08/2015 23:29

Hey all,

Thanks wanttogetslimmer, wolfie100 and Nore22! Thank you for the advice, already got a game plan thinking (as well as the Rocky 4 Final Countdown song in my head!).

Had my Doc consultation today and he reckons 4-5 months to loose the 4 stone I want to loose.

Gonna be starting on the 24th cos I've got a few days away with work and a Hen do this week. After the 24th I haven't really got anything pressing so it should give me plenty of time to get a handle on it all.

It's good to read the stories of how people are getting on with it, especially when you get view points from those who are at different stages.

So, I'll check in with you all in a week or so, let you know how it's all going!

Thanks,
vjh85

Wanttogetslimmer · 14/08/2015 10:03

Hi All,

What awful weather we are having up North - everywhere around here is flooded!

I won't have my 4th week weigh in until Monday as I am away at the weekend - I try not to weigh myself at home as I would hate to see the scales going up and down as happens with us girls at times. Because all of my clothes are starting to feel loose, and I feel so good, I have to constantly remind myself I am still overweight and not yet ready for a bikini!

2petcats - hope the weigh in went well today, do let us all know how you got on.

Pipan27/essy28 - your weight losses are great, I hope I can get to 2 stone in the same timings. Essy28 - I love your idea for the curry and found it very tasty. I thought I would try the same principle with the mushroom soup and it worked very well with fresh mushroom and the cauliflower cous cous/rice - almost like a mushroom risotto, as long as you use good seasoning (I am addicted to the Montreal Seasoning they sell in Costco, it is a mix of salt, garlic powder and chili powder). The only problem was the smell of cooked cauliflower in the house after - not pleasant! Tesco's are selling the cauliflower already done for you and also courgetti ready made.

Wolfie100 - thanks for you post, that is great information on the road after the diet. Quite good odds I thought.

Wow Singy your weight loss is amazing, and as you are going through the final stages your advice will be greatly welcome. You must feel like a completely different person now? I guess with the not being too interested in food, you are now just eating what you need rather than what you think you need - that is great really and what every slim person I know does, it will be easy though for the body to go back to being addicted to sugar/carbs if it gets enough though and it is something we will all need to guard against.

I read this really good book recently called ' a thin woman's brain'. I found it very informative and certainly explained my food addiction. I think my weight loss needed was too great to just use the book for losing weight, but I will definitely read it again to stay on track after the diet.

How is everyone else doing who haven't posted for a while - I would really love to know.

Good luck next week VJH85.

x
