Alevere / Alizonne

dm2ooo · 23/03/2015 11:46

For reasons unknown, the name of the Alizonne diet has changed to Alevere. I have only known it as Alevere and wanted to start a new thread so people can find it under the new name.

I am nearing the end of week 1 and have lost 8lbs so far. I don't count this much as I lose 7lbs in the first week of any diet. I'll see how I go over the next few weeks.

It's a lot of work to follow but I'm getting used to it. Would be happy to swap tips with anyone - particularly on recipes.

Also very happy as I won £500 today which covers a lot of the 1st month costs!!! :)

Well folks, brilliant news for me, I have now lost 2 stone in 4 weeks and 2 days. I am so happy! I really don't think this rate of weight loss will continue, but it has really helped with my confidence and I am in some of my old clothes in a size smaller.

I hope everyone else is done by well.

BexxG · 19/08/2015 10:48

Hi everyone, this is Day 7 for me and my first weigh in is this afternoon! I am so inspired reading all your stories, its nice to know I am not alone.

I am so scared for this afternoon. I dont "feel" like I have lost weight and I am terrified that after all this effort I am going to get on those scales and nothing happens! This has been a tough week. My headache started at the end of day 2 and only stopped yesterday evening. I feel so much better today, but my family have had to put up with me being weepy, angry, whiney and all sorts. LOL! I've had to take myself out the house when they are eating some stuff and only return once everything is cleared away. Thankfully though they are all supportive.

I have 7st to lose to get to my healthy BMI weight. Does anyone else have that much to lose? Or has anyone lost that much?

The direct is "simple" but not easy. The first day everything tasted so bad but I have gradually got used to most of it. The oriental chicken soup is the only thing I actually "enjoy" having. The cheese omlette tastes and smells like feet, peach and mango .... hmmm undecided, but the one that I cannot abide is the cappucino blurgh. Looking forward to my new set of boxes and being able swap a couple of sachets later!

Sugar free bubblegum flavoured gum saved my life on Day 4 lol I cant stand chewing gum, its the bain of my life, but my husband bought me some while he was out and I have to say it tasted like heaven! I usually have a piece or two a day just to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Let me know how you are all doing!

Bexx

BexxG · 19/08/2015 10:49

Well done! That is amazing!

BexxG · 19/08/2015 10:50

Meant to have put "wantstogetslimmer" after that well done lol

Wanttogetslimmer · 19/08/2015 20:52

Hey BexxG - how did you get on? I hope it went well for you.

It will get easier - I can even sit with my husband and son whilst the eat normal meals and am not tempted at all.

I didn't like the capachino either! I like the cheese soufflé, smoke bacon omelette with as much veg as I can get in there, and I have just had the fruits of the forest for the first time and it was nice with strawberries. The strawberry milkshake and caramel drinks are ok. I tend to stick to drinks at work and have a hot evening meal with loads of veg.

The curry idea from essy28 is good, and I liked my mushroom soup recipie. There is also an Alevere Facebook page that has some good recipes - I like the chocolate bun idea with is a mix of pizza base and chocolate desert.

There are some people in this thread that have lost around 7 stone - I have 5 to lose. I Just take it one stone at a time - each one lost will be around a dress size, and your health will greatly benefit from each stone lost.

I really look forward to hearing your result.

BexxG · 20/08/2015 10:48

Hi there, I lost 8lbs!!!!!! I was so shocked! I was hoping and hoping it would be good, but as I didnt feel any different I was also nervous.

I have found it much easier this last couple of days, and with the 8lb loss to spur me on I am super-motivated.

Ordered hot chocolate this week after hearing all the reviews, and was pleasantly surprised by how nice it is, especially seeing as I dont drink hot chocolate normally. Its nice having a hot drink to enjoy as I cant get away with drinking tea without milk.

I've got a smokey bacon omlette to try out of the swap box, and also some chicken nuggets to try (but forgot to pick up the instructions so if you know how much water to put in let me know).

I've also got mash potatoes with herbs to try as I thought that would be nice with lots of veg :-)

I feel much more positive going into week 2 and for the journey ahead now.

How's everyone else getting on?

Olive63 · 20/08/2015 11:21

Hi - I'm in week 7 and this blog is great, thanks to everyone on it!

Getting used to sachets and wanted to share with BexxG ( great first week by the way! ). Chicken Nuggets - always best to put in less water and then add to get the right consistency. start with 90mls. I also add tarragon or some kind of herb to give it a bit more flavour. Put three blobs on a bit of greaseproof paper and in the oven at 200c for 10 mins. Also the mashed potato is a bit weird on it's own but I get two large mushrooms, make up the mash ( you can add herds/spring onions ) and then stuff the mushrooms and put it in the oven for 10 mins. Otherwise don't add too much water and then make into little patties and fry in olive oil from allowance.

I agree the Hot Choc is nice.......

audreypatterson · 20/08/2015 15:59

Went really well, thanks. I'm on my last day of my summer holiday today, getting back tomorrow to start on the sachets. Feeling really nervous about it!

audreypatterson · 20/08/2015 16:13

Hey Vjh85

I'm also starting on Monday! Having a nice meal at the weekend before starting on the sachets. I'm curious to see which ones I like. And whether any nice ones ever get left in the swap box :)

audreypatterson · 20/08/2015 16:24

@ritzyAish the consultation went well. Seems like a lifetime ago now. Has been great reading about your progress in the meantime.

@dm2ooo thanks for the tips - especially on workplace explanations/eating. Not sure I'd trust myself with the kids popcorn though :)

@wanttogetslimmer thanks for the courgetti and garlic bread tips. I need to try and find ways to make the food as normal as possible. Saw someone mention cauliflower rice somewhere - do you know how I'd make that too?

My bloods and everything came back fine. The doctor and I discussed how much I'd like to lose and where I'd like the ultrasound. I nearly fainted at the cost of the first week (thank goodness I'd been warned upfront - the "normal" weeks are expensive enough). I'm pretty much set to get going on Monday. Nervous about doing it all for the first time - think because I've been waiting so long to get started. Small things like making my first shake, trying each sachet for the first time, turning down work drinks with colleagues, how to swallow all those morning pills, and how on earth I'm going to drink that much water in a day. Once I've done it all once I'm sure it'll be fine.

Good luck everyone!

BexxG · 20/08/2015 18:30

Thanks Olive63, it's great to have tips and advice from people who are further down the road.

Not sure what to have for my evening meal, I've had a really busy day and didnt plan properly, got all out of sync with timings, and I forgot to order shopping so I have no allowable extras apart from broccoli! Silly really. I might try the smokey bacon omlette I got out of the swap box and stick some broccoli in there.

For anyone just starting, its so important to plan when you're going out! It's easy to take the shaker with your water measured in there and add a packet while you're out, but keep an eye on the time!

BexxG · 20/08/2015 19:11

Big shout out to the Smokey Bacon Omlette! So much nicer than the cheese feet stuff! I actually "enjoyed" that [grin}

ohtryingsohard · 21/08/2015 09:14

BexxG

I have 6st to loose, I am on day 3 and i have to say it feels like an uphill struggle at the moment.

However i have this page open all the time at work, and everytime i feel a bit down, i read about everyone else on the same path as me.

So reading your 20th August Post of losing 8lbs is very encouraging and WELL DONE.

I also noticed that each area has different foods. I don't get Smokey Bacon Omelette! Will ask next week, i have to admit the Pancake mix so far has been the worst. I made a cheese omelette yesterday, and did not enjoy it so much, so thinking i will be making scrambled eggs next time.

Does anyone know if we can have two boiled egg whites instead of the omelette for breakfast?

Kay2000 · 21/08/2015 09:39

Hi, I've been reading this thread for some time now, well done on everyone's weight losses, you're all doing so well.

I'm considering doing the programme, I need to lose at least 7 stone to get down to pre-pregnancy weight (and that's not even an official 'healthy weight' as I'm around 18 and half stone and only 5ft 4. After many, many, many (!) attempts at diets my willpower is almost non existent and I'm worried I won't be able to stick to this. But I am finding I'm starting with health issues that are weight related and know I need to shift the weight if I want to be healthy and live as long as I can. I also don't like the idea of eating 'fake food', do you have to eat fake bacon omelette or are there more simple sachets, drinks, soups etc?

Any help and advice would be welcome to help me make my decision whether to invest the money in this, or go down the gastric balloon/band route.

I have a friend that did this when it was Alizonne, and lost 5 stone. She's put about a stone back on, but stabilised and is keeping it off through exercise and sensible eating. I can't do that much exercise at the moment due to my weight, I swim 2-3 times a week but find walking painful. But 7 stone off and I am hoping that would change.

Thanks for listening to me, and any advice welcomed!

BexxG · 21/08/2015 14:57

@ohtryingsohard - hang in there! A lot of people say the first three days were the worst, for me it lasted 6! There's a lot of withdrawal and a lot of detoxing goes on in the first week I think, but I can honestly say that week 2 has been so much easier.

I would definitely ask about the Smokey Bacon Omlette as it is so much nicer than the cheese. It taste like an actual omlette. Dont forget to put your unlimited veggies in there. I put my olive oil allowance (table spoon) in the pan, fry spring onions, mushrooms, peppers first, then add the mixture. And mine always comes out looking like scrambled eggs anyway lol I definite found frying the veggies first made it taste better, but I did struggle with the cheese one.

I cant imagine that boiled eggs whites are any different from omletting them? Maybe someone further on in the programme knows.

Keep going, you're nearly half way through the week. It's worth persevering xxxx

BexxG · 21/08/2015 15:13

@kay2000

I would definitely recommend this weight loss programme and I am only on week 2.

The thing I like about it is the amount of support you get, and all the medical things. At the first appointment they weight, measure, and work out what your BMI is. Everyone is different so its good to get it so personalised.

The other brilliant thing is the treatments. This is what makes it so expensive. Every week you have an ultrasound treatment which helps break up the stubborn fat, and a skin tightening treatment. This is what sold it for me. I have 5' 3" and weighed the same as you. For me, its not about the weight loss itself, its about being healthy, so a healthy BMI for me is between 11st and 11.5st. It might be different for you as you are taller.

It's all very well to have gastric band fitted. But its a huge surgery, with a long recovery time, and I would worry about the post op support you would get. Would it change your eating habits? You still have to eat teeny amounts of food afterwards for ages before you can eat normally?

I have a real problem with food. Despite being so overweight, I never really knew how much of a problem until week one of this programme! I dont think I realised how much I comfort ate, so suddenly taking that comfort away meant that I was very weepy and moody as emotions that I would usually bury came out to the surface. Despite it being quite upsetting at the time, I can only see it as a good thing and I feel better than I have in years.

I feel like I have broken a lifetime of bad eating habits. Having the sachets five times a day, I'm not hungry at all, and most of them are actually nice. Its just trial and error. Make use of the swap box to try stuff before ordering a full box, and if you find something you like always have that.

My taste buds have changed. I used to have sugar on everything but now everything tastes sweet enough!

The two things I miss are my cup of tea (with milk) and bread/toast. I could pretty much live off these for days if so inclined to do so.

I would definitely give it a go. The first week is hard but as you can see, with an 8lbs loss I would definitely say its worth it. I feel so much better this week, and feel super motivated.

Finding these boards has also been a big help. Knowing that you are not alone on your journey is invaluable.

xxxx

essy28 · 22/08/2015 06:47

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well.
I'm now week 8 and have lost 2stone 5lbs, last week was hard had 5 days in a row of events by event 4 I caved and ate badly but still lost a lb so proud I didn't put anything on.
I'm really fussy with the sachets I tend to stick to soups and drinks. Tried vegetable soup this week it was ok still loving the oriental chicken soup. Been roasting veg a lot last few weeks - roasted cauliflower is nice.
I need to loose 6 stone to have a healthy bmi if I could loose 7 I'd be happy.
I was a big milk drinker before I started and feared this would be the thing I missed the most but now I wouldn't even think about having a glass of milk or cup of tea.
Wanttogetslimmer your doing great - try roasting the cauliflower with other veg and spice really nice!
Everybody keep up the good work it will be worth it in the end.

BexxG · 22/08/2015 09:27

Essy28 - that is brilliant! I hope I can sustain that kind of weight loss through my programme.

I am going camping next week for a few days so just filling out my food order. I've chosen two cold drinks, hot chocolate for the evenings, mash potato (I really enjoyed it yesterday) what else do you think I should get?

I was going to get an omlette but you cant have omlette and mash on the same day :-/

I was thinking either chicken nuggets, so I can have that with salad then my mash with veg. Obviously I only have a two ring camping stove so need something easy!

Anyone else been camping/on holiday whilst on the programme?

Kay2000 · 22/08/2015 15:35

Thanks for your advice, BexxG, it sounds like you're getting on really well so far. I have an addiction, definitely. Even though I want to lose weight I find it hard/almost impossible to eat less. So maybe cutting food out and breaking the addictions is the answer. I do want to get healthy, that's my motivation, but it's like someone who knows they need to stop smoking but can't, I'm the same with food (if that makes sense). I inherited some money last year, so I do have the funds available to do it, but I need to be sure it's the right thing for me, and the weight loss is sustainable in the long term, there doesn't seem to many figures yet for people who do the programme and keep the weight off. With Lighter Life, we've seen examples like Pauline Quirke, who are unable to keep it off despite losing the weight. As I said above, my friend is keeping her weight off, but she does exercise every day to do so.

Re tea - are you allowed black tea and/or coffee on the programme or not at all? I'd really miss my morning brew ;)

BexxG · 22/08/2015 18:34

Hi Kay2000, I think it's the same with everything, it doesnt matter how much weight you lose, in what manner, be it through weight loss programmes, diet fads, or surgery, if we dont learn to change our behaviours, of course its going to go back on.

What I like about this is, is they phase normal food back in gradually. You dont just lose a ton of weight, and then are let loose back into the world with the same problems. Its all gradual, and then you get free lifetime support. I think after a while it gets to once every 3 months or something, but its not too long so its easy to reign back in.

I have learnt a lot about myself already, and already know that there are things I wont bring back into my diet. Your taste buds change, so I like things now (many more veggies than I usually eat) that I wouldnt have touched before. I cant wait to have a bit of milk in my tea again but I wont be using sugar any more.

It can be the smallest of changes that help us on our way for the long term.

Having said all that, you are absolutely right, you must find a solution that works for you. I know so many people that have been successful on slimming world or weight watchers, but I just cant do it. Its like being able to still have stuff for me was a dangerous game, like wanting to stop smoking but someone saying you can still have one a day, it just didnt work. I've had to go cold turkey LOL

You can have black tea and coffee, and herbal teas Smile xxxx

Dowser · 22/08/2015 19:00

Fruit teas are lovely. I like the twinings ones also if you are near a tiger store I can recommend their loose. Ginger tea. It's not really gingery at all but has some great detoxing herbs and gives you a gentle clear ot iykwim

Wanttogetslimmer · 22/08/2015 19:59

Hi All, had my 5 week weigh in this morning and have lost another 5lbs - it is amazing how the weight loss continues and I have not been hungry at all.

Dower - I am pretty sure we can't have fruit tea. I think it is only normal, green and coffee we're allowed.

I agree with BexxG, I think completely cutting out sugar really helps with the addiction after a week or so. I am just not tempted by any bad food, whereas I think if I was on a diet which allowed some I could cave in, especially with weight losses of a 1lb a week. Great weight loss for your first week!

It is scary to think about putting weight back on after spending so much money, and I worry too. But I hope by going through each stage and having a new BMR reading at the end so I know exactly how much I can eat, I will give myself every chance of keeping the weight off. I know the weight won't stay off if I go back to my old ways - I have always enjoyed being fit, and even as a big girl I have still walked and cycled, and I hope as I get thinner I will be able to get back into doing other fitness such as running and swimming. Ultimately, I will only have myself to blame if I put the weight back on.

I am reassured by the 'veterans' on this diet - you guys are such an inspiration to me and your weight losses are amazing. I look forward to hearing how you all get on after the diet.

Thanks Essy28 for the cauliflower tip - it's amazing how stir frying or baking gives it a much better taste than boiling.

Audrypaterson - Tesco are doing the hard work for us and have ready made cauliflower cous cous (saves lots of chopping and squeezing out water) and goes great with essy28's curry tip. Good luck for Monday.

I would recommend this diet to anyone Kay2000 - it took me a long time to decide, and I only wish I had started sooner.

Keep at it ohtryingsohard, it does get easier - promise! And thank you to everyone else for posting. This thread is invaluable to me, and I love hearing how everyone else is getting on - it is like our very own weekly meeting.

Xxx

BexxG · 22/08/2015 22:31

Wantstogetslimmer - thats amazing! Well done you! What's your total loss now? You must be so pleased.

I tried making the chicken nuggets today but I put too much water in, it ended up more like chicken mash LOL still tasted nice with my salad though lol

Does anyone know how much the boxes are? I have ordered my food for next week, but was thinking about buying a box of smokey bacon omlette just so I could alternate between having mash or omlette in the evenings. Unless I am lucky and there are some in the swap box maybe.

I dont have any cravings either which I find remarkable. I managed to make my daughters boyfriend and chocolate cake today, and apart from having to resist the urge to lick the spoon, more out of habit than anything else, it was fine.

I do sometimes feel hungry but 99% of the time I think "ooo I'm starting to feel hungry" but then I look at the clock and it will be because its time for my next sachet.

The hardest thing I find is turning things down if offered. My neighbour who I usually enjoy a glass of wine with, invited me in, and although I insisted on having water because "I am off wine at the moment" it was difficult to do without having to give a whole explanation to them. Being invited to go out for a meal and saying yes, and then suddenly realising that you cant lol

What do you guys say to people? I feel a bit embarrassed to tell people, but then saying "I'm on a diet" doesnt seem enough somehow.

Keep up the good work guys.

PS does anyone know a nice salad dressing to make out of our allowances?

dm2ooo · 23/08/2015 13:18

Welcome Bexx - great start. So nice to see everyone doing so well.

I lost 4 lbs in the last week (or so) - taking my total loss to over 4 stone! That's after 16 weeks on the plan (not inc the lost summer weeks Smile ) I'm going to lose 7 stone in total - like many of you - and for the first time in many years it feels achievable.

I lost another week due to disruption of yet another work trip but I wasn't paying for treatments or food that week and I kept up exercise and ate well. I've hated being off the plan so don't recommend it. If I hadn't had breaks, I would be almost finished! But that shows how well the diet works - I want to follow it - I'm not trying to avoid it.

Also - due to gym - have kept toning so aiming to try on a size 14 in a couple of weeks.

BexxG · 23/08/2015 14:08

dm2ooo - that is fantastic!!! You have done so well! 4 stone in 4 months is incredible, I hope I can achieve that. You are over half way there! Well done Smile
