Hi
Just catching up on the weeks posts which are great - it's lovely to see new people joining this forum. Very big supportive hug to Anna50, Spacecumber (love the name!) Carrielynn and Alphachick.
Cupcake - on all the stages you eat 5 times a day but as you go through them you swap sachets for other food. At stage 2 you reduce to 4 sachets and don't have one at teatime but instead have meat, fish or dairy. I mostly went for dairy as you get to have an egg and 200g of fat free plain yoghurt so I now have the yoghurt with rhubarb every day. You then stay on 4 sachets until you almost reach target when you go on to stage 3. At stage 3 you don't have a sachet for breakfast any more but instead have porridge, Special K or bran flakes or a piece of toast. As well as going down to 3 sachets you get increased types of fruit including plums and nectarines. It's bliss! I decided not to go there with toast as I was worried I wouldn't be able to stick to just one piece and didn't think it would fill me up. The porridge is great though.
You get the ultrasound at stage 2 and 3. It just stops when you reach target and move onto stage 4 onwards. I miss it though but am very pleased to be at target!
Alphachick007 - please tell me how you make the sugar free meringues! I am desperate to try them successfully! Such a great idea!
SarahRose88 - I started off being ahead of the doctors schedule for the couple of stone but then it really slowed down despite me doing everything exactly the same. I had the same view as you have that as long as I was getting thinner and losing weight I didn't care. Every week as long as I lost some weight even if it was only 0.2 kilos I have been relieved! The one week I had put on was awful as I was so scared that it was a slippery slope and the diet wasn't going to work any more but the next week was fine- massive relief. In fact looking back on it that probably helped keep me motivated in ensuring I was sticking to absolutely by the book. Not good at the time though! gh. You still have to take all the supplements until stage 4 when you start reducing as part of the stabilisation process. You are on stabilisation for 4 weeks and then have a post therapy consultation where you get your after photos taken! Not sure when kerosine stops??
Slimslimslim- well done on the first stone and getting the bike trainer. It is interesting as I also started cycling as part of being on the diet but probably not until I had lost 3-4 stone. I started cycling everyday after work building up how far I went each day from about 15 mins to 45 mins over a couple of month so. I have stopped now though because of the winter and need to fine a replacement. However I must tell you that my legs look amazing as a result of the cycling. The clinic told me that I don't really need treatment on them as there is not really excess skin on them! I am sure it's the cycling that did it.
space cucumber - totally agree with all the comments that you should start when you are mentally ready - there will always be Christmas or Birthdays or weddings or parties or holidays etc that you could wait until after but I think you need to just start and learn how to cope with these situations while eating and drinking healthily.
Alphachick - I also have a low metabolic rate - but not as low as yours! Mine was around 1300 when I started and I am intrigued to see if it has changed at the end when they take it again! I notice that you have 2 to 2 and a half stone to lose. As I said above when I was down to my last couple of stone to lose the weight loss really slowed down. It seemed to come off a lot faster when I had more to lose.
Bexx - can't believe you lost 3 and a half stone in 13 weeks that's amazing! Well done you!!! Glad you got straight back on track after your trip and are now fully motivated. One of my therapists told me about another person on the diet who had a holiday prebooked in America before she started the diet. Apparently she decided she would come off the diet for the couple of weeks holiday. As soon as she arrived in the USA she went into a restaurant and ordered a burger and chips. Apparently though after months on Alevere it didn't taste very nice to her anymore and her body reacted badly to the burger in that it made her I'll. I thought this was very interesting and keep remembering it when I crave chocolate etc as it actually probably won't taste as nice as I remember it being!
Bexx- I also found buying smaller size clothes kept me very motivated all the way through- the first time I bought a size 20 then 18 and so on down to a size 10 that I am now. Each size change just feels amazing. I also can't believe how much cheaper smaller clothes are and the fact you can shop in H&M, Primark and many others is also really exciting. It's great not going to the plus size section any more too!
Anna50 - I have just read your last post where you said you aren't sure if you can carry on for 13 weeks - you can! Honestly if I can anyone can! The first week is definitely the hardest as your body starts to adjust and is expecting more food and wine etc. You do get used to it after a couple of weeks though and the weight loss really does spur you on as cupcake says.
Slimslimslim- what is the resistance band? Sounds intriguing - I want one!! I also plan my food for the next day the night before and get it all ready in plastic tubs in the fridge. I also used to write everything I had down for the first 4- 6 weeks. It really helped.
I moved from Canderel to Truvia as my sweetener a couple of months ago. It's more expensive but has no calories in it and no aspartame. Seems to be working for me.
I notice how many of you are not telling people what you are doing. I totally understand this but I went the opposite way and told everyone as I had to explain why I wasn't eating or drinking with them at various things. At times the fact everyone knows what I am doing makes me a bit nervous. I suspect some people are just waiting for me to fall off the wagon and put the weight back on as soon as I come off this fad diet etc.! Well I will show them they are wrong is all I can say. There is no way I have invested £10,000 not to stay looking this fabulous! People have mostly been very supportive though and ask me all about it etc. as it's such a big part of my life anyway I am very happy to talk about it.
Would be interested to hear how everyone is planning dealing with Christmas Day and New Year's Eve?
Phew mammoth post over!!! Good luck everyone have a great week.
