Here we go again!

Ok it's the magic thread where we find inspiration, motivation and actually see the results we want and manage to hold on to them once we get them.

No more excuses (unless they are hilarious or necessary).

Welcome all!

Oh God, bit of a hangover here. I had a left over curry for breakfast Blush

Currently wrapping pressies and eating Ferrero Rocher. Will be starting JD tomorrow though I promise. I cleaned the house this morning though in preparation for Christmas - it's a process that means I do one big clean and then lots of top up ones so I'm not running around like a loon Christmas week.

That fruit sounds fine Rachey, just watch the size of the portion and it is basically a big bowl of sugar so expect a bit of a crash afterwards. I always have a mid afternoon coffee to keep me going.

Good thinking with the curry Beyond, great minds think alike Grin. If you have a work meal on Thurs can you eat well right up until the meal? I made a few batches of point free soup to have over Christmas. I chucked them in the freezer and I know if I have them for lunch/dinner a few times per week it will lessen the damage of the Christmas period.

DH bought bottles of Bucks Fizz and we had a bottle last night, it was gorgeous. We always have it opening presents on Christmas morning so we decided to sample it. I know it's got feck all alcohol in it but I think it was my downfall as I had it on an empty stomach (I then was a bit tipsy and needed a curry). I think I'll hide the rest of the bottles until Christmas morning, when I will have had a Terrys Chocolate Orange before I drink it.

I went out with my sister on Friday night and drank an awful lot (considering I dont drink much any more) and ate mexican food. Got home at 4am (long story) and ds1 had me up at 5.30 :( so yesterday I ate a huge amount of carbs.

beyond sounds like you had a great week :) yummy I love a curry, I made OH a curry while I had egg salad with a grapefruit ala james duncan. After doing this diet I am going to lay off dieting until new year and just keep going to the gym.

sol cold curry is awesome sounds like you had a very productive day, I need to do a good old clean of my house, but ds2 has been very unsettled in the evening so I havent had the energy.

Thanks for the tips. I had a large bowl of fruit but shared with ds1 (he is a fruit monster) and dinner I really struggled with no salt esp when eating eggs.

green how is the new WW working out?

hope you all have a good week.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 13/12/2015 23:41

Jesus Rachey could you not have got your DH up with your DS1? You poor thing, you must be exhausted. I don't blame you for having mexican food, it is AMAZING. I love burrito's. And chimichanga's. And stuffed Jalepeno's. And nacho's. God I'm hungry.

If you need a pinch of salt, go for it. It's not the worst in the world. JD diet is hardcore, but it's worth it. I'm on board for tomorrow, I need to trim down before Christmas. And by trim down I mean that I want to be able to shut my trousers without them causing me pain.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 14/12/2015 13:17

He was up half the night with a unsettled ds2 so that was the "deal".

The Mexican was delish and totally worth it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Grin

I weighed myself today (I know it's not good weighing every day but was interested) and I've lost 3lbs since yesterday I'm guessing it's water but I'm pretty chuffed. I'm hoping seeing this diet through till Saturday afternoon (have a takeaway planned sat night) will see me lose enough to feel good for Xmas.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 14/12/2015 20:37

3 lbs is fantastic Rachey! Bloody brilliant. You'll do really well. I weigh myself every day on this diet, it keeps me motivated.

I was doing well until I got home from work and my DH had made me dinner. I couldn't say no so I ate it. It was really nice and he had made such an effort as he had a manic afternoon, I really wasn't expecting it. I also didn't weigh myself as I really couldn't face the fat facts.

Tomorrow I'll start again. I might even weigh myself.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 16/12/2015 09:07

sol thanks for the encouragement, I'm not weighing till tomorrow so I'm really hoping for a good result.

That was nice of ur dh to make dinner. Glad you enjoyed it. Have you started the jd diet? I'm not finding it as hard as I thought, although I miss milk in coffee.

beyond green how are you both getting on?

Have you all started wrapping presents yet? We have to put most of ds1 together (wooden kitchen and work bench) so won't wrap them till Xmas eve. I can't wait to see his face. Xmas Grin

Off shopping today to by Xmas jumpers and my own Xmas present. Oh has brought me little stocking gifts but is struggling with my main gift. I'm desperate for some new clothes as I'm the awful inbetween size at the mo, they really should create a 15 size Wink but I don't want to spend too much as I'm hoping to get down to a 12 for my holiday. I think h&m will be a good place to go for cheap clothes.

Hope you all have a good day

SolitudeSometimesIs · 17/12/2015 20:28

I haven't started but I have been low-carbing all week, I haven't weighed in yet. I've been working a lot this week so my schedule has been all over the place. We're having people over tomorrow night so I think Saturday will be the start day. Everything revolves around eating around this time of year, so difficult.

We have wrapped all the stocking stuff, but we don't wrap the big gifts, we set them all up. I can't wait to see their faces either. We're really lucky in that they are in to things that don't cost a fortune and they don't ask for anything very expensive (Santa brings one big present and two surprises here, it was the way my parent's did it so I want to keep that going. DH was supremely spoiled as a child got piles of really expensive stuff - not something I want to do, he freely admits that it was insanely indulgent).

Could your DH get you a voucher for your present Rachey and maybe just get you a top or perfume so you have something to unwrap? It's a pain being in between sizes.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 18/12/2015 16:20

That's excellent Rachey. How have the last couple of days gone?
I haven't got too much left to wrap. I did most of the presents in a mad wrapping frenzy on Monday as MIL was watching DD2. I used to like wrapping, so I'll try and enjoy doing the last few bits at leisure!

I like H&M for clothes, it's where I bought most of my 'fat' clothes from. Wish I'd discovered it sooner. Plus I never mind having to throw stuff out when it gets to big/tatty.
I also quite like Sainsburys Tu stuff, which sounds quite sad. But the website has good pictures of the clothes so it's easier to shop than in the actual shop. The clothes from there are quite good quality and fit well.

How is the low carving going today Sol? What are you planning to have to eat tonight? It is really difficult to diet at the moment. I've not had anything remotely Christmassy to eat yet Xmas Sad

I think I've been doing quite well on the diet. Lost 2.5lb this week.
I do have to confess to having a stomach bug this week? So have the children, the lingering smell of vomit puts you off eating. Maybe I should develop it as a body spray diet aid. I did follow the plan for most of the week, so I think some of the loss was down to dieting!

The WW new plan seems good. I'm determined to stick to it again this week.

BeyondTheSea · 18/12/2015 22:17

Hello,

Well done on your 2.5 lbs Green.
Have you weighed in yet Rachy?
I've been eating and drinking and socialising +++ not going anywhere near the scales.
I am thinking of starting couch to 5k tomorrow!

Sol - I ike you way of doing presents - may adopt it. I had said we were going to do, 1present from use 1 father Christmas present and a stocking but I haven't stuck to that....

SolitudeSometimesIs · 18/12/2015 23:00

That's a fantastic loss Green. I hope everyone is feeling better after the bug. At least you got it this week and not over Christmas. Are you planning any time off the diet over Christmas. I'd definitely buy your vom spray - we need a catchy title though.

Oh Beyond I've eaten so much food tonight I feel like I'm in the same boat as you, I'm hiding the scales. We had masses of pizza, chocolate and crisps tonight. It was delicious. Lots of wine too. The present idea is all down to my Mum, she made us choose one big present and that way she knew we really wanted it. Then she'd get us bits that she knew we'd like. It's never too late to start Christmas "rules", it's certainly made our present buying much better.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 18/12/2015 23:07

And also we don't buy the kids presents from us. DS1 asked why not and I explained that Santa brings kids presents at Christmas, we do birthday presents. He was happy enough with that. I get the boys gifts to give each other, I spend about 15-20 euros each on those gifts, but when the boys get older I will just hand them the 20 euros and tell them to pick something for each other themselves.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 19/12/2015 09:09

We are all much better now thanks Sol. It was one of those 12 hour things thankfully. The children where much better by the next morning, they were just sick. I've just been really tired, I've caught up with sleep now.

I'm going to get weighed on Wednesday morning and then relax for the next 4 days. I'm not planning on going completely mad, but I've ordered some nice cheese and nibblEs and some stuff for main meals.

I'll try to calm it down again from the Monday till NYE. I'm going to re start dieting properly on the 3rd. I might even do Exante for a week or so, mainly to use it up.

Of course it may all go tits up. But I have absolutely no social plans apart from seeing family over the holidays. So unless I suddenly get an influx of invites I should manage to stick to it all.

BeyondTheSea · 19/12/2015 14:27

Sorry Green I didn't ask how you all were. Glad better now. You have been so good, hope you have a good result on Monday. I am thinking of maybe a week of exact, or a week juicing or the JD diet.
Not been for run yet....

Sol - glad you are keeping me carb company. I have just had quite a few roses as well (someone gave us a tub). That's lovely idea that your DS's get each other presents.
I have a confession - went out for dinner Thursday, and I ate 2 left over puddings Blush

How are you rachy?

Greenrabbit · 22/12/2015 09:20

The Christmas food shop is here. I've ordered so much cheese!
Managed a fast day yesterday. I'm determined to make the illness weight loss permanent. (Well until I get weighed tomorrow)I must stay strong today.

Watch me gain a stone over Christmas week.

Beyond eating 2 puddings is just the sort of thing I'd do! Don't worry about going for a run. We'll all start exercising next year.

I haven't bought any tuns of chocolates. I'm all about the cheese and olives.
I have bought a giant 'Christmas cake' cheesecake though and I've ordered ingredients to make tiramisu. I'm so greedy.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 22/12/2015 09:32

Ooh Green your shopping sounds great. Are you hosting Christmas this year? I'm off to do mine tonight, I have quite a few bits to get, I bought a load of crisps and stuff and I ate it all with DH Blush We're having a family party on Christmas Eve so we need a ton of stuff, well, another ton of stuff after eating the first batch.

I'll be pig out central over Christmas, we have loads of social things on and our anniversary. I'm hoping that the fact that all of these meal based events being squashed in to a few weeks means that I will reign myself in the New Year.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 22/12/2015 09:52

I'm not hosting Sol. I don't even think anyone is coming round!

My original plan was to have Christmas dinner at our house then visit family. I ordered a beef Wellington and prepared veg so I didn't have to do anything. Then DH went in guilt mode thinking his parents would be all alone. So we are going to their house instead.
Because of all this my parents are going to be alone (their suggestion, but I still feel bad about it)
Plus DHs brother and family will be at the PIL anyway.
Christmas is a real pain.

Anyway, I couldn't cancel the food order so I have to fit that meal in somewhere. Maybe Sunday?

I hid lots of snacks in the loft. Although I've ate about 4 boxes of Marmite flatbreads over the last 6 weeks. They are divine. I have to admit that when I shop online I type 'Marmite' into the search box to see if there are any new Marmite products.

Good luck with your shopping. Our town is hell on Earth at the best of times.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 22/12/2015 10:20

More food for you so Grin

Are you staying over in your IL's? We're having everyone over for breakfast but then spending the afternoon as just the four of us. We did it last year and it's very relaxed and means there is no having to make awkward, endless conversation. It also means I can put on my pj's and have a vodka while playing with the kids.

I've never heard of marmite flatbreads, I don't like marmite though. I was having a think about possibly spending Christmas Day just with DH when I'm older and my kids have their own plans. I think I'd be ok with it. Lots of slobbing out, watching telly and eating indulgent food and lots of booze. It doesn't sound so bad. Do you think your parents might be planning a nice day for themselves?

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 22/12/2015 11:00

That sounds like a perfect day.

We only live a mile away from the inlaws, so thankfully can get home. It's just that it is some sort of law that we have to stay for the evening too. It's too far to walk back with children and they won't want to leave their presents behind so I'm normally the one to stay sober (just so I can drag DH away at a decent time).

Greenrabbit · 22/12/2015 11:27

The rest of the food has just been delivered. There's a lot!

As I was saying. Inlaws- it will be fine. The food will be good. At least it's not my house being trashed.

My parents will be fine. They have everything planned so will have a nice day. If they weren' so inflexible about food we probably would have gone for lunch. My Mams food is fine but never quite enough and she doesn't believe in making anything that special for Christmas. We are going round on Boxing Day. I'm cooking a ham and pease pudding and the parents are stocking up on party food at Waitrose and M&S, so that will be better than Christmas dinner!

My brother and fiancé are coming for breakfast on Christmas morning. They've declined lunch at my parents too so I needn't feel that guilty.

Marmite is food of the Gods. I love the cheddar and cashews too.

I need to go and find somewhere to put all this food now Xmas Blush

BeyondTheSea · 22/12/2015 19:41

Great food shopping Green. I really like beef wellington but DH doesn't like mushrooms.
How are you Sol? Enjoy all your celebrations. I feel very motivated for the new year, I think we all will be.

I actually managed to do the 1st couch to 5k run on Sunday, I say run but more of a waddle. still its a start. Hoping to to fit in another this week and then repeat week 1 next week, just to ease myself into it.

We are going to in laws too. MIL cooking is not great (vv plain and over cooked) but there will be lots of cake, we are staying 2 nights ... but I'm hoping to stay home next year. I wish we didn't have to go really, they are very nice though and so excited, I would just prefer to be at home. DC will love it though. I much prefer when it's just us. After the in laws I have high maintenance sister coming over who normally comments on my weight. Soon looking forward to that.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 22/12/2015 21:22

I would be keen to stay sober too Green if it meant I was in charge of getting home at a reasonable hour. Your shop sounds great. What is pease pudding? I only know it from a nursery rhyme. I went to Lidl and spent the time unpacking turning every press and the fridge in to some sort of Tetris construction, we're all going to have to be careful removing things.

I am in awe of your running Beyond, I think you are right and we will be way more motivated in January. You should definitely try for a year at home, it really is lovely. As for your sister commenting on your weight? Tell her to sod off. You are lovely and that is not measured in pounds and ounces and if she has a problem she can leave (I can give her a bloody good telling off if you want).

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 22/12/2015 22:07

Oh well done on your run Beyond. Was it difficult and could you walk the next day?
I'd save you a piece of Beef Wellington if you were closer. It's bloody massive. I've bought far too much stuff as usual. So much for cutting down next Monday-Thursday!

Do you have many days off work? I'm lucky that everyone is nearby and we can go home at the end of the day. Ignore your sister or follow Sol's suggestion.
Hope you have a lovely time anyway.

I managed to get everything into the fridges. It was like Tetris, I just have to remember what we have and where I put it!
Are you all ready for Christmas now?
It's the first year DD1 has really got into Christmas properly so it's lovely to see her so excited.

Pease pudding is a spread that you have in sandwiches. Usually you boil a gammon joint with veg, traditionally you would put split peas (yellow ones) in a muslin cloth and boil them along side the meat. They go all creamy and you pour it into a dish and it sets as it cools. Then you have it with the ham in a sandwich. Devine. Or you can chop an onion, put it in a pan with the split peas and add stock (ham or veg). Boil till soft then wizz up with a hand blender. It's a North East staple! You can buy it ready made in tubs in every supermarket but homemade is best. I highly recommend it, it's good just on bread on its own.

Racheyg · 23/12/2015 16:41

Hello all, sorry been MIA it's been a busy week. I did the jd diet for 4.5 days and lost 7lbs, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a greater loss but to be fair I didn't do it the full 7 days.

I have since stopped all dieting and just enjoying the holidays although I am still attending the gym 5 times a week. Tomorrow is my last day at the gym till Tuesday so going to make it count Grin

Green, well done on the weight loss. Glad ur all feeling better.

Beyond, how are u finding the c25k?

Sol, how are you getting on?

All of your Xmas plans sound great. We are at in laws for Xmas eve then heading to my parents on Xmas day afternoon. I'm starting to get excited but u think that's more to do with looking forward to eating :)

Have a s**t load of wrapping to do tonight but I might have a glass of wine to help ease the pain.

Hope you all enjoy the build up towards Xmas

Greenrabbit · 23/12/2015 22:22

Hi Rachey. 7lb is amazing. Enjoy the gym tomorrow too.
I hope the wrapping went well, wine definitely helps.

Have a lovely Christmas. I'm excited for the food too!

Took the girls to see a charity train that goes round the area. It's all lit up and plays Christmas music, Santa and his elves are on it. We waited 45min for it to turn up. DD2 was in tears because she couldn't ride on the train. DD1 was crying because it was too big and loud. Took them to McDonald's to shut them up, this was the best part of the day. I'm not going to attempt making any Christmas memories tomorrow. Xmas Grin

Lost 1lb at WW today, so 18lb in total. Looking forward to gaining it all back in the next 10 days.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 28/12/2015 08:19

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope you are all having a lovely time. Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I got a new tablet and it won't let me post on MN so I had to hunt down my laptop.

Diet has gone out the window, lots of booze, food and general inactivity. I am not weighing myself until the day after New Years Day and I will start from there. Having a lovely time hanging out with the kids and playing with all their new stuff.

How is everyone else doing?
