Here we go again!

Ok it's the magic thread where we find inspiration, motivation and actually see the results we want and manage to hold on to them once we get them.

No more excuses (unless they are hilarious or necessary).

Welcome all!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Christmas.

Diet out of the window here too Sol. I am just tucking into so party food and prosecco (over ordered and trying to clear out the freezer - any excuse). I dread to think how much I weigh. I suspect I will start the new year heavier than last year - great.

I am starting diet on Monday 4th and kicking off with a few days off exante. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Well, I have done 4 jog/runs now and they are really hard so I am not moving on to week 2 until next week. I think my body is in complete shock. I also think I look a right state am sure a car tooted me the over day Blush and not in a complimentary way...

Does anyone have nice new year plans?

We are having party food and staying in with a bottle of champagne (although I prefer prosecco!)
How are you Green and Rachy?

BeyondTheSea · 29/12/2015 19:46

ps Green, found some mini beef wellingtons in Waitrose and they are delicious.

Greenrabbit · 29/12/2015 21:07

Waddles in

Merry Christmas everyone!

I've been having a lovely time, hope you all have as well.
My diet has completely gone out the window too. I ordered far too much as well Beyond. I have so much cheese in the fridge, it's unreal.

We are staying in for new year. My parents are watching the girls during the day on NYE. So we are probably going to Newcastle for a look round the shops and a nice lunch. We'll be having party food and prosecco later on too!

The beef Wellington was okay Beyond. I don't think I'll be ordering so much again. We ended up over cooking it as PIL turned up as we were cooking it (I like it rare). But they stayed for dinner so helped us clear some of the vast mountain of food. So overall a win.
I went to M&S today for some fresh stuff and ended up buying their dine in for New Year. Guess what I picked for the main? More beef Wellington! Yay!

Well done on the running Beyond. Very brave to go out in public too. I will join you with the Exante. I am going back to WW next week, but will cheat and use Exante to lose these Christmas pounds (stones?).

Have you sorted your tablet yet Sol? I hate setting up new gadgets and having to remember passwords etc.
I got double presents from DH as he forgot that I'd made him order mine when the shops had discount at the end of November. So he panic bought from my Amazon list just before Christmas too. Silly man Xmas Wink

I have to go now, there is cheese reaching room temperature.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 29/12/2015 21:44

That's brilliant that you have done so much running Beyond, how are you finding it? Can I give you some advice about Exante? Feel free to ignore if you want. But if you go from eating lots of salty, high fat food and alcohol to suddenly switching to Exante you are going to suffer dreadful side effects. Your body will release all the toxins in to your system as it detoxes and you will have quite bad nausea and headaches. If I were you I would have 3 or 4 days of eating healthily and then going on Exante, just to lessen the pain.

Ooooh what's the M&S meal like Green? We normally go take away but I could be tempted by M&S. DH has a small mountain of cheese in the fridge, DS1 has developed a taste for brie and crackers as a snack so there's a bit of turf war over the cheese. I don't think you over ordered, it sounds just the right amount to get you through til the New Year. What pressies did you end up with?

The tablet is a not compatible with MN, it's infuriating but it works great with other sites so it can stay. We have no plans for New Years, it will be very quiet as usual, I kind of hate it to be honest, it's such an anticlimax.
Definitely dieting in the New Year, I'm doing a healthy, nutritionally packed week for the first week and then I'm looking in to swallowing a tapeworm (possibly joking).

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 29/12/2015 22:08

The meal is £20 Sol (no idea about Euros). Starter, main, side dish, desert and wine/cava. Some nice things, didn't notice any good vegetarian things though but our M&S is small. I think we'll have it on NYD.

I think New Year is boring too. Although I like the fireworks on the BBC.

I'm not looking forward to the Exante detox. I just really need to use up the stash I bought in the summer.
I got a bracelet and makeup bag in my original present. Then a spiraliser, books, Moomins mugs (I collect them!), trainers, a Guinea pig pride and prejudice book and some other books from the Amazon list!

When I was at work we had a great video about parasites. A man swallowed a tapeworm before his wedding in it. He did lose weight. It's rank though.

Try to find out some WW smart points stuff. Should be lots in the weekend papers. It's good? I'm also tempted by Davina's new book.

Racheyg · 30/12/2015 07:27

Morning all. Hope you had great Christmas?

I have had so much fun stuffing my face, although I can no longer fit in my spray on super skinny jeans. Grin I have also drunk more these past few days than I have in nearly two years Shock

I went to the gym for an hour spin class on Xmas eve and then my first day back was yesterday and I really felt it.

Glad you all have had a great Xmas, and got lots of nice stuff.

I have to say I won't be following the tapeworm diet Grin
Sol, that's great advice for any detox diet I guess as I was going to do jd but I think I might pick up the body coach again. Oh brought me his cook book lean in 15

Green that's sounds like great presents. Oh also brought me an apron...,,,,,,is he trying to tell me something?

Beyond how are you getting on?

I am really knuckling down on 2nd jan as my holiday is in 4 1/2 months

SolitudeSometimesIs · 31/12/2015 08:36

Your presents sound lovely Green. DH bought me some slippers from M&S as part of my present, they have secret foot support in the sole and they are the comfiest things ever - surely a sign that I am getting old, but I don't care.

Fair play to you for getting to the gym Rachey. I couldn't imagine hauling my tremendous girth to a public place to work out, I'd be mortified. It's on the cards for when I lose about a stone though. Are there any particular classes you would recommend?

I won't really go the tapeworm route, even the thought of it makes me shudder. I'm going to make changes to my diet every week to try and retrain my eating habits, so my plan is:

Week 1: Cut out processed food.
Eat nutritious meals, lots of protein, wholegrain carbs and good fats.
Cut down on alcohol.

Week 2: All of the above.
Cut down on carbs and replace with veg and lower carb options.
Cut down on artificial sweeteners and sugar.

Week 3: All of the above.
Try to reduce calories to 1500 per day.
Do 30 mins of exercise per day (going to check out a few dvd's)

Week 4: All of the above.
Weigh self, see the boring plan is working.
Celebrate with wine, end up opening pack of cheesy puffs, order a pizza at 10pm and stuff my face like a cave woman.

Actually have a proper sticky out belly now due to over indulgence. I look about 5 months pregnant. Ugh! Off out for dinner tonight but I don't know if any of my clothes will look nice. Trying to decide whether to go out and buy a bigger pair of trousers I will be comfortable in. They'd only cost a tenner and would mean I could sit comfortably all night. It's my totm too so I'm super bloated. Double ugh!

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 02/01/2016 09:30

Eek quick message from me, Am 6 lbs over last years starting weight - which is obviously marvellous.

Sol, have you a tunic top or dress that would be skimming/slimming?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 02/01/2016 09:46

Don't fret Beyond, you'll have that 6 lbs gone gone in no time at all. I haven't braved the scales yet, bloody dreading it. I have no tunic tops but I have a decent black topI wear with a multicolored wrap thing that's really nice. I'm afraid my trousers won't close though.

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 02/01/2016 11:00

Does your top come over your trousers? Use a hair bobble as a temporary measure to close.

Racheyg · 02/01/2016 20:44

Evening all,
Ok......I have put on nearly 12lbs Shock
I cannot believe how easy that was to put on.

Sol, how was ur meal out?

Beyond, is that 6lbs you have put on over Xmas? If so I'm sure you will drop it pretty quickly

Green, how are you getting on?

BeyondTheSea · 02/01/2016 22:13

It must be fluid Rachey. I am sure it will come off quickly. I hope you had a fabulous time.
Yes 6lbs over 2 weeks.....

Have upped my fruit and veg and started to reduce carbs in readiness for Monday.

Hope your dinner out was good Sol.
How are you Green?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 03/01/2016 09:39

My meal out was lovely. I had stuffed vine leaves and salad for my starter and Syrian moussaka for my main course, the flavours were incredible. So pretty healthy food, but any health benefits were undone by all the wine I had. I ended up just buying a bigger size of trousers, I wanted to look nice and I can wear them until I drop the weight so they won't be a total waste.

12lbs must be water Rachey, I bet once you start eating healthily and flushing out your system with lots of water you will be back to normal again. I imagine it's just the collective over consumption that leads to us all freaking out a bit when we step on the scales. My weigh in is tomorrow so I will update you on my fat stats then. Try not to freak out or guilt yourself too much, we're all in the same boat here.

I love that you're prepping yourself for Monday Beyond, have you decided what plan you are doing? 6 lbs will be gone in a week, I'm interested to see how much I've put on. Slightly hungover today so no healthy eating for me, in fact I see takeaway in my future.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 04/01/2016 09:42

Post Of Shame Alert

So I have my New Year fat stats. I am 205 lbs.

I have put on 13 lbs since the last time I weighed myself at the end of November, that's quite a lot. I've decided to do Veganuary to kick start it. I was vegan before so I won't find it too hard. I had the "joy" of seeing myself in the wrap around mirror when I was buying my trousers the other day, it was a bit humiliating if I'm honest. I have officially tipped in to obese territory.

We have a holiday booked for June and I will not be embarrassed to be seen on the beach in my swimsuit (I'm not aiming for a bikini, just a decent one piece). I was pregnant the last time we went on a sun holiday and I look like a porker in the pictures.

So the consequences of my very indulgent over eating and fuck it attitude to nutrition is that I am going to be a low carbing vegan for the next few weeks. That'll teach me Grin.

The house has no snacks or junk food in it and I intend on keeping it that way. I'm going to root out my vegan cookbooks and get myself organised. I think I'll need to put some stuff in the freezer for when I go back to work on Wednesday. I sent DH to work with all the leftover chocolate for the guys he works with to have with their coffee - they all do very physical jobs so they burn off all the junk they eat. I have given DH strict instructions to sort his weight out too, he has been putting on weight alongside me and usually wants me to organise his eating plan, but not this time. He's going to look in to a men only weight watchers group in the area.

So here I go, off to lose some weight.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 04/01/2016 16:33

Happy New Year everyone.

Good luck Sol. You're well organised, the meal out sounded lovely. I want to cook more vegetarian meals this year. I don't think I'd manage Veganuary though.

I agree that the 12lb will mainly be water Rachey. I got on the scales last week and was 10lb heavier! I was looking at the Body Coach book, but I'm trying to reduce the clutter and my spending for the moment. So I think I'll wait till I can have a look through it properly.

How are you doing Beyond? Have you started again today? What plan are you doing?

I weighed myself this morning and was 6lb heavier than my weigh in before Christmas. I'll see what the official damage is on Wednesday.

I've started WW again today. I did try yesterday, but found some stuff in the fridge that I fancied!
I was going to do Exante but couldn't face it. I figured that I lost 18lb in 12 weeks before Christmas, so if I put my mind to it I can do it again. Plus I'd lost 6lb in the first week, so maybe I could lose most of the Christmas weight by the end of next week?

When I joined WW I set my target at 12stone. I'm 14stone today. I need to lose the 2stone by July. After that I think I have to lose another 14-21lb.

I figure that if I lose 1lb a week, I'll get there by the end of the year. I'm going to do it this time.

One I've sorted myself out with food this week I'm going to start exercise properly next week. Which is scary but it's going to help.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 04/01/2016 20:45

I'm quite looking forward to a month of veganism, I was a vegan for about 4 years until I was pregnant with DS1 but I was so ill all I could manage was cheesy puffs dissolved on my tongue. But hopefully I will manage it.

6 lbs is really nothing Green, at least you lot it in single figures unlike me Grin. I'm 6 lbs heavier than you,I know we can do it this year. What sort of exercise are you thinking of doing? 18 lbs in 12 weeks is an incredible loss, I think you're really determined and you'll achieve your goal.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 04/01/2016 21:02

sol glad you had a great meal out sounds yummy. I take my hat of to you for going vegan. I eat too many eggs and I hate coffee without milk.

beyond Have you started running again? im sure that 6lb will fall off once you start eating healthy and running.

green well done for diving back into WW 2 stone by july is very doable and im sure that 6lb will be gone soon.

I signed up to do the body coach 90 day sss. I had to send them pictures of me in my underwear and wow I looked awful, I even have fat knees :( I have to wait to receive the plan then I am sticking to it i have just eaten a huge wedge of blue cheese and half a layer of milk tray. I am ridding my house of junk. If I am to do well I need all temptation removed.

I weighed myself today and I am 12 stone. I am determined that this will be my last year of being overweight

Greenrabbit · 04/01/2016 21:23

You'll easily manage it Sol. Especially if you already have the cookbooks. I'm like Rachey, I would find eggs and dairy really difficult to give up too. Maybe one day I should try it, it might be surprising.

I think you've been really brave to sign up to that programme Rachey. Just think of how amazing you'll look after the 90 days. I think you mentioned it before? I looked it up at the time and thought it looked great, but was put of at sending pictures in! Do they send you a personalised plan?

If it's any consolation I've also succumbed to blue cheese and chocolate tonight. Although the rest of the day was probably healthier than the rest of last week combined.

We'll all be looking amazing by the summer.

I wore a really nice dress for Christmas Day, it was size 18 (slightly loose). I saw the size 14 on eBay tonight for £10, so I bought it. I will wear the 14 on Christmas Day this year. (And if I don't who cares, it was only £10 Wink)

The exercise I plan to do is the Mutusystem. I've mentioned it before. It helps strengthen your core and close diastasis recti. I bought it when I was last pregnant and have never done it properly. I have all the stuff and you do it barefoot in the house. Plus a 20min walk. I noticed my back and sides were really sore before Christmas as I'd been trying to do loads of housework and rushing round. Hopefully this will improve all of that.
I might join the gym in September when DD2 starts nursery if I'm feeling more confident about everything (which at the minute means leaving the house, I'm dreading having to go out this week. I could become a recluse)

Sol I ordered the new WW recipe book today. It is on offer in a lot of places for £5 (instead of £15). It might be worth looking out for if your husband is joining?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 05/01/2016 11:03

I'm sure you will be in the size 14 dress next Christmas and how great to get such a bargain. It can be your inspiration. I must have a look at the Mutusystem, my belly is revolting.

Day one of veganism went well. I had one sweet from a tin of roses, but that was my only slip up. Today I have had vegan sausages for breakfast, I have homemade veggie soup for lunch and chickpea curry with wraps are for dinner. Weighed myself this morning and I am 2lbs lighter, purely down to not shovelling sweets and wine in my face.

That's not good that your back was so sore just before Christmas, having kids really has such a long term impact on our bodies. Have you ever had physio?

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 05/01/2016 19:41

Hello all,

Good work on the 2lbs Sol.

Think we all sound really positive, I am sure your 6lb will be gone soon Green. Good plan with the dress. And 12 stone is not bad at all Rachey. My weigh in yesterday was horrific, 12.3 which is the heaviest I have been in ages. So I am day 2 of exante. I am having 2 meals and snacking instead of having a 3rd (chicken, ham, few nuts, little cheese). I'll try and do a week as a kick start. After that, not sure whether to do ww or 5:2.

I am still on week 1 of couch to 5 k, it's hard work but I'll plod on, I don;t really care how long I stay at weeks 1, it's better than doing nothing.
Oh and I got a fitbit - bit obsessed with it!

SolitudeSometimesIs · 05/01/2016 20:02

Beyond you are awesome doing couch to 5 k. Take it at your own pace, you don't need to set any unrealistic timetables. How are you finding Exante? Have you many meals left? Can I tempt you with Veganuary?

There is such an air of positivity on this thread and I think we will support each other and we will get to our goal weights.

And Rachey, Beyond is right, 12 stone is not the end of the world, it's just a starting point (and I say this as someone who is 2 and a half stone heavier than you). You will be lighter in 2 weeks time and you will forget how crap you feel now, all you'll feel is proud of all of your hard work.

Really missing chocolate today, but I think that's a lot to do with sugar withdrawl (sp?). I made the kids pasta pesto with garlic bread for dinner, it was a bloody dairy-fest. But I did not eat even a morsel. I made veggie burger wraps for dinner with lots of veg, they were delicious, I couldn't get myself organised to do a curry.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 05/01/2016 20:04

Also, I can't highlight anyone's name when I am on my tablet so don't think I'm being rude by not doing it. Technology is just not my friend.

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 05/01/2016 20:33

Well done on your restraint Sol. Esp with the garlic bread. Veganuary sounds interesting but I think I need to eat chicken if I have any hope of low carbing.

I think I have a week of exact left, I am staving but just want to get into the 11's again and then will be happy with 1-2 lbs a week.

Sorry I just realised I never highlight names, sorry if that's rude, I'll try harder!

Racheyg · 05/01/2016 21:03

green congrats on the bargain buy. The dress will look awesome next year :) Hope your back improves. I agree with sol childbearing really does impact our bodies. Im lucky to have avoided back ache and all that considering I had big babies.

I think the plan is the same for everyone but tweaked for the individual, I am hoping my before's and afters are as impressive as the ones on instagram.

I still have chocolate and cheese in the house which needs eating. I hate to waste food:(

Sol I love veggie burgers what do you put in yours? well done for avoiding eating your dc's food, I am a huge nibbler while cooking. well done on the 2lb loss.

beyond well done for the c25k i loved my fit bit until it broke. I like you became obsessed with meeting my goal of 10,000 steps. Its a great motivator.

I sometime for get to highlight opps :) off to finish off the last of the chocolate I will work extra hard at the gym tomorrow
