Here we go again!

Ok it's the magic thread where we find inspiration, motivation and actually see the results we want and manage to hold on to them once we get them.

No more excuses (unless they are hilarious or necessary).

Welcome all!

We eat tons of carbs here too Beyond, they're just so bloody nice and filling. I weaned myself off pasta by repeating "It's basically boiled bread" every time I ate it. Not aloud obviously. I discovered I loved the sauces more than the pasta itself, so I just use them on veg that I slowly cook , it tastes just as good.

Weigh in was STS. I wasn't too bothered though. I knew there was no way I was going to keep up 3lbs per day. Missing my glass of wine tonight but have genuinely not been hungry today at all. I kind of want to quit because it's boring and I did the grocery shop today, but I know I will be kicking myself on Tuesday at my final weigh in thinking of all the weight I could have lost.

Goal loss for tomorrow is 1lb. Fingers crossed.

Oh, I feel I should point out that I know pasta isn't boiled bread but I hate soggy bread so it was a training thing for me.

Weighed in today and lost another 1.8lbs. So that's a total of 7.8lb in four days. Heading in to Day 5 feeling very happy. It isn't the most exciting plan in the world but at least it's working.

DS2 now has the virus that DS1 had so in for a long day of him being a scream monster - he's currently flaked out in front of Peppa Pig. Told DH not to bring me home my usual Friday night wine, as I want to see if I can stick this out. I would love to be 10lbs down when it comes to my weigh in on Monday (I said Tuesday above, but it turns out I just can't count).

Hope everyone is having a good day. Anyone doing any Black Friday sales? I'm staying well away, I can't bear crowded shopping centres.

Fantastic Sol, you must be so pleased. Do you feel better for it?
Weekends are so difficult. I feel like I'm programmed to stuff my face or have really special meals. No idea why.

Well done on your losses too Beyond and Rachey. We'll all be looking good for Christmas. Only 4 weeks to go !

I've bought a few things online Sol, but I couldn't face the shops. It's mainly things I wanted to buy anyway so I'm pleased with that. I don't think I could face real shops, they are bad enough normally anyway. Have you bought anything?

DD1 was off school poorly yesterday. DD2 was with my parents so DD1 and I had a lazy day in bed watching cartoons. I didn't eat much, then was starving and ate some of their left overs. I felt quite bloated this morning.
I'm determined that the next 4 weeks are going to be healthy. I've made some nice soup this morning and I've carefully planned meals for the weekend. I'm going to make quite big meals and use the left overs to make other tasty but healthy meals.
I'll join you in shunning wine Sol, although I ordered loads with my shopping that arrived this morning. I'll have to hide it.

I am aiming to lose 4lb by Christmas, so 1lb per week. Half a stone would be even better.

Greenrabbit · 27/11/2015 21:35

I didn't shun wine. I embraced it with open arms. I'll never be thin.

I also bought new hair straighteners. But my GHDs died tonight after the purchase. Maybe in protest at being replaced, or maybe just because they are 8 years old and felt that they'd gave their all.

BeyondTheSea · 28/11/2015 18:38

You are getting thin though Green, you are doing so well and aren;t diets meant to be 80%?

What straighteners did you get?
I went christmas shopping this morning

DD has an Anna doll, Elsa dress and a minnie mouse bag.
DS has a lightsaber and Rex & woody from Toy story

I also picked a few presents for myself from DH :)

I had a planned non diet day, fasting tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having nice weekends

Racheyg · 28/11/2015 19:50

I am so disappointed with myself, I cant seem to stick to a diet. I have been eating so badly since I weighed myself.

sol thats amazing loss, I may do the diet in the run up to xmas so I dont feel so bad about eating too much over xmas. hope your boys feeling better?
both my boys have stinking colds at the mo :( I avoided all black friday sales I to hate shopping centres

green glad you enjoyed your "lazy" day, I would love to have a day like that. 4lb is great goal.

beyond looks like you had a great day xmas shopping

SolitudeSometimesIs · 29/11/2015 03:23

Hi all,

I didn't really stick to the plan at all yesterday as DS2 is pretty sick with the virus and has been constantly attached to me since Friday morning. I got very little sleep last night and DH and I are taking tonight in shifts as DS isn't sleeping - hence the 3am post. If I am less exhausted tomorrow I will probably go back to it, but if I have the same exhaustion, dizziness and feeling like I need to throw up like I had on Saturday, then I might just leave it. I genuinely felt like I would pass out yesterday as DS2 needed to be carried everywhere, he's not very heavy, maybe 30lbs, but my arms, shoulders and back are so sore. He's currently in his cot doing fake snores but is wide awake, it's going to be a long night.

What hair straighteners did you get Green? I've tried every brand but am loyal to GHD, there's no bad hair day those bad boys can't tame (I have quite frizzy hair, it used to be wavy/curly but it never recovered after having the kids). 4lbs per week sounds like a good goal, that's my plan when I finish James Duncan diet.

You sound organised Beyond, were the shops crazy busy? What did you buy for yourself? There was a black Friday sale in my local supermarket on all their alcohol, I must confess I went and bought quite a bit Blush, saved around 100 euro though.

Rachey could you set aside one day per week as a day off from you diet, that way you could eat what you want and then not feel guilty? I always find it easier to stick to a plan if I know I can have the food I want at some stage. Don't feel bad about yourself, it's bloody tough going when you have kids and you're trying to diet.

BeyondTheSea · 29/11/2015 13:48

Rachy, I agree with Sol, the only thing that keeps me going is thinking about my off day. I think we should all try and be as good as we can inn the run up to Christmas, but maybe in January we could really go for it?!

Sol- sorry to hear your DS is unwell. You must be so exhausted. Definitely need carbs when dizzy and exhausted. I am thinking of trying your diet next week. Weigh in tomorrow, I hope to have lost at least a lb (also TOM though and so bit bloated).

The shops were crazy, I got there for 0900 and it was ok then, by 1030 it was rammed. I have done quite bit of internet ordering as well though. I said we wouldn't go mad buying stuff this year for DC, but it's hard to resist getting them stuff....

I got:
www.johnlewis.com/clarins-extra-firming-kit-skincare-gift-set/p2115064
www.clarks.co.uk/p/26113100
and some Dior perfume.

I agree about GHD's. Wondering about investing in a new hairdryer, people rave re Parlux. But worried will frazzle hair though.

Greenrabbit · 29/11/2015 21:45

Hope you've all had a good day.

After the wine on Friday (don't drink and diet). I found myself nursing a hangover yesterday. I did okay till dinner time, then I persuaded DH to get Chinese Blush. So I was bloated and felt rubbish this morning.
I've tried to have a better day and I've made lots of healthy meals that should last for the next 2 days. That way I don't have any excuses to eat rubbish.

I've bought far too much for the children too Beyond. Mainly stuff I know that I would have loved as a child!
I like your new boots. I love Clarins stuff too, the Blue Orchid oil is my face saviour in this weather. I'm also a big fan of Dior perfume, although I've asked for some Shay and Blue perfume this year. Have you tried it? M&S are stockists, it's really unusual. Worth a sniff (it's posh, not M&S own brand)

I bought these straighteners

I had a gift voucher so they were only £15. The reviews elsewhere seemed good and Sali Hughes recommends that make too. My GHDs seem to be working again, but they don't run through my hair very smoothly anymore. I keeping hearing mixed reviews about the newer ones so I was reluctant to buy more. Although my others have been great value.

I have a Parlux Beyond, they are good. My hairdresser warned me about frying my hair, but she wanted to sell me a GHD dryer. It is much more powerful than anything else I've had. It really reduces drying time. I use a heat protected and don't over dry. I also don't have tostraighten it as much as it dries more smoothly now. I don't really like my hair very straight, but it sounds similar to yours Sol. I like doing curls and waves with straighteners but there's usually a small child hanging about so I don't get the chance as much.

Hope your DS is feeling better sol and that you eventually got some sleep.

Greenrabbit · 29/11/2015 21:58

I also hope your children are getting better too Rachey.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 30/11/2015 09:23

I like those boots Beyond, I never shop in Clarks, I must start having a look in there. I too have been buying lots of stuff for the kids, I absolutely love Christmas and I'm very excited to see their faces when they see what Santa has left. I buy no filler presents though, it has to be stuff they will play with, piles of unused tat gets charity shopped here.

Was your chinese nice Green? It's hard to resist nice food if you feel rough. Good plan with the healthy meals, at last one little blip didn't throw you off healthy eating all together.

DS2 is still sick here. I finally got to sleep at 5.30 this morning and feel like I've been hit by a truck. I'm going to take my weight on Friday as my total loss - so 7.5lbs in 5 days on the James Duncan diet. I can't weigh in this morning as I have to drag the scales out from under the presses in the bathroom and I'm too afraid of waking DS.

I'm going to low carb and eat healthily this week and weigh in on Friday to see how I'm doing. Then next week I'll try to do JD diet again. That depends on how DS2 is though. No sleep and no carbs are just too draining.

Diet tip of the day #1: When out shopping, only buy snack food that you don't like.
There's a ton of biscuits in our house covered in coconut (vom!) and lots of panettone (double vom!). I was desperate for a sugar hit yesterday and couldn't eat any of it.

Diet tip of the day #2: Have 2 children that do not let you sleep so you have to go to bed really early - no evening snacking. And have you up and out of bed all night so you are burning calories while you should be asleep.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 01/12/2015 12:14

I'm liking tip #1, #2 not so much.

The Chinese was nice, but not worth it for the guilt after! I had a healthy day yesterday and so far today. Doubt I've lost anything though, I'll probably be heavier tomorrow. Serves me right really.

Racheyg · 01/12/2015 18:49

What a crazy few days, ds1 is finally over his cold but ds2 is suffering and keeps throwing up when coughing. I have put a hold on the weaning now until he is better.

Had my friends round on Saturday for lunch and made soup (lentil, chorizo and butternut) bread, cupcakes and cookies so I proceeded to stuff my face all weekend. Not sure if the scales at the gym were broken but said I'd lost 2lbs so I'm down to 11st 12lb. I'm very shocked Xmas Shock

Sol, how is ds? I too have curly hair but have straighten it for many years (used to have Brazilian blow dry but made my hair to flat) loving the diet tips Smile

Green, Chinese sounds amazing, God I'm hungry Grin I need a new hairdryer my hair looks very frazzled at the moment.......just how I feel Smile

Beyond, have you nearly competed your Xmas shopping? I haven't gone that crazy on the kids (yet) how's the healthy eating going, I agree I'm going to relax a bit now and work hard in January

BeyondTheSea · 01/12/2015 20:04

Sol and rachy - hoping your DS are better soon. It;s so exhausting, lots of sympathy from me.
Green I really want a chinese now. Good luck for your weigh in tomorrow.

Well done one you 2lbs Rachy - super exciting to be in the 11's :)
I lost a lb this week. I think that makes 23 lbs to go.
Sol hope you get more sleep tonight.

I am planning to finish the shopping this weekend. I am going to get some lego/playmobil for DS. Also need something for DH and a close friend. How's everyone else getting on?

Greenrabbit · 07/12/2015 21:25

I STS at WW last week, which was miraculous. I've had a terrible week with food (well I enjoyed it really). I've been out for two meals with DH!

WW is changing the programme completely this week. We get to swop our Pro points scales, shopping and eating out guides for new ones. Wooo! So it will be interesting to find out about the new plan. Hopefully it will motivate me enough to lose 7lb before Christmas too!

I've almost done all the Christmas shopping, just need to wrap it up. God knows when I'll get that done.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 08/12/2015 09:18

Still a house of illness and misery here. DS1 is feeling much better but DS2 and DH are feeling rubbish. Thankfully the sleep problems are all sorted so we've been catching up.

I haven't stepped on the scales but plan to start JD diet again on Sunday.

Congrats on being in the 11's Rachey, you must be thrilled. Your weekend sounds lovely.

What are weight watchers doing to their plan Green? Is it going to be tough to get used to?

You sound very organised for Christmas Beyond, we have loads of Play Mobil here, it's brilliant stuff.

Is everyone set for Christmas? DH and I are sneaking out for Christmas lunch without the kids today. Can't wait. The last time we got any time together was in July.

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 08/12/2015 14:39

Enjoy your lunch Sol. Sorry to hear still illness in your house.

I'll be interested in the new WW programme Green. That;s great to stay the same if you had lots of treats.

I lost another lb this week.
How are you rachy?

Racheyg · 09/12/2015 14:33

Afternoon all, hope you are all well?

I put on 1lb this week as I have been very relax in my diet (not dieting at all Grin) and I'm fine with that. I'm off out with my sister on Friday night for cocktails so on Sunday (I don't drink much so I'm more than like going to have a hangover on Saturday and eat crap) I am going to follow sol and do the jd diet for 6 days.

Any helpful tips sol with the jd diet? Hope your dc's are feeling better? Did you and dh have a good meal?

green I though ww had already had a huge change up? Hope it's a change for the better for you and is easy to follow.

beyond congratulations on the weight loss. I am pretty much all finished with my spending just waiting for most of it to be delivered. I'm off to buy Xmas cards now and wrapping paper. We have had a budget of £50.00 pp (obv we have spent more of our ds's) this year which is good as stops overspending although me and oh have done £100.00. I bet your relieved most of yours is done

Greenrabbit · 10/12/2015 10:56

Hi everyone, I STS again this week. I'm happy with that as I've drank my body weight in wine thanks to constant tantrums from DD2. I'm marketing it as the soup and wine diet.

Well done on your loss this week Beyond, it's such a difficult time of year to be dieting.

Don't worry about the 1lb Rachey. You've still lost overall this month and it will soon fall off if you follow Sols diet next week. Good luck to both of you doing that.

Got the new WW plan yesterday. It's still points but now they are called 'Smart points'. 55% of foods haven't changed in value.
The new points are based more on protein, calories, saturated fat and sugar. A lot of high protein foods low in fat have gone down in points. Sugary foods have gone up. Most fruit and veg is still free.

I've went from 29 daily points to 30. My Mums have gone from 26 to 30.
My weekly points have gone from 49 to 42. My mums have gone to 39.

You also have exercise targets that you can increase as you meet them. You aren't supposed to eat any points you gain from exercise.

I think it seems good. I'm trying to get back on track today and even after inputting my breakfast and the chicken I am having tonight with free vegetables I have 20 points left for lunch and other'snacks'.
I need to charge my Fitbit up so I can track activity.

Greenrabbit · 10/12/2015 10:58

Oh and WW swapped my old scales (pro points) and shopping and eating out guides for free. So I'm glad that I went back to meetings when I did.
I imagine that they will have a big relaunch in the new year and it will be easier to find more information about it all.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 12/12/2015 07:45

That sounds interesting Green, they'll probably do a big thing in the New Year, I'll have a look at it then. I love that they swapped all your stuff too, it makes it less hassle having to buy new ones.

Yay on your 1 lb loss Beyond, any loss should be celebrated I feel. Are you following a particular plan?

Rachey my only advice on JD is to watch your portions. Toast means 1 slice of toast, unlimited fruit really just means a regular bowl sized portion, chicken/lamb means a chicken breast or lamb chop. There were blogs/threads about people following it and they were eating massive amounts and wondering why it wasn't working. One woman ate an entire chicken and then moaned that she hadn't dropped any weight and seemed pretty baffled as to why.

I'm starting tomorrow to give me a god run up to Christmas. I find Days 3 and 4 quite tough and I didn't really lose weight on those days, but then would drop quite a bit the next few days. Part of me wants to keep it going up until Christmas Eve but I think that might be quite hard.

There were also days where I was suddenly starving, just have something high protein (half a packet of ham, boiled egg etc) to get you through. I would rather eat a bit more protein and be capable of minding the kids than be ravenous and headache-y. It's not really eating off plan either so don't worry about it.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 12/12/2015 17:01

I have really let myself go this week and put 4lbs on Shock but I'm looking forward to starting the jd diet tomorrow.

Thanks for the tips sol, what kind of fruit or does it not matter? I have mango, strawberries, raspberries, apples and bananas is that ok?

Green, how is the new ww going?

Beyond, how is ur diet going?

BeyondTheSea · 12/12/2015 19:52

Very badly because I had a work tea Thursday and drinks last week, I think I probably had almost 2 bottles of prosecco. Felt pretty rough today, just about to have a curry, will delay weigh in!
Good luck on the JD diet, I am going to be very good Sun-Wed. Work meal Thursday and then I think it will probably be all bets off until after Christmas although, I am going to try to be good ish.

Your albs are probably water Rachy?
Think of doing ww in new year too....
Might have to have a hair of the dog in a mo.
