Here we go again!

Ok it's the magic thread where we find inspiration, motivation and actually see the results we want and manage to hold on to them once we get them.

No more excuses (unless they are hilarious or necessary).

Welcome all!

Oooh where are you going on your holiday Rachey? How was the gym?

How was the batch cooking Green? Is your house full of gorgeous food?

My diet is going well. I did a meal plan and bought no junky crap when I was out shopping. I am starving at the moment and really want to eat hot meals instead of salad and crudites and hummous. So lots of soups and veggie currys, quorn chilli and stir fries. I have a recipe for chickpea soup which is lovely and a chickpea curry, I'll post them later.

I got the rage when I was listening to the radio yesterday and a nutritionist was saying that she gets the same chocolate "hit" from eating dates as she would from having a piece of chocolate. She was insinuating that people who can't eat this way are somehow fat and lazy. I started ranting at the radio, thankfully I was in the car alone. I trained as a nutritionist and I couldn't believe she was not taking in to account peoples emotional connection/dependence with food. It made me so mad!

Have you seen the thread in Chat about the weighted Hula Hoops (that you swizzle around you midriff not the salt and vinegar kind)? It was interesting, I'm tempted to see if I can hunt one down, it might help me get rid of the trifle tummy my pregnancies have left me with.

Hi Sol,
We are going to Costa del sol, sounds pretty chavy but the hotel is excellent for kids and good transfers ect. Quite excited as our first family holiday abroad and I cant wait to have some sun :) The gym was good although had to cut it short to bf ds2 (silly me forgot emb)

Ohh I cant wait for you to post the chickpea soup. oh loves that kind of thing for lunch.

hummmm dates or chocolate? I know what I prefer.........:)

I have tried a normal hula hoop and i used to be so good as a kid but wow I really sucked. It is meant to be amazing for toning up.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 22/09/2015 21:50

Costa del Sol sounds lovely, anywhere that is sunny, nice hotel and facilities for the kids sounds good to me. We've been to Spain when DS1 was 2 and a half and I was pregnant with DS2, it was gorgeous. Being able to go to the beach and not have to sit with coats and jumpers on was very pleasant.

Made a quorn curry for dinner, I had plans to marinade veggies all afternoon and slow cook it to perfection but I had to do a ton of running around so just bunged a ton of quorn in the sauce instead. It was lovely and I have a ton of it left for tomorrow, I'll post the recipe for that too. My cookbook is in the office so I'll get it tomorrow.

Hi, been too busy batch cooking to catch up.
Tips for batch preparing meals:

  1. Make sure you have lots of room in the freezer (I've ate lots of random freezer food over the last few days)
  2. Clear 3 hours. (DH decided that we should go out on Sunday so I haven't had a chance to finish making meals)
  3. Check that you have all of the ingredients (I ran out of spices, waiting on Asda bringing some today so I can finish off)

You both sound like you're doing really well. Very healthy.

When do you go on holiday Rachey? I like the Costa del Sol. It will be ideal for children.

I have a weighted Hula hoop (actually 2). One is rotting under the decking and the other is at my parents house. I might rescue it tomorrow and try again.

The diet is going very badly this week. Im just so lazy. It's probably Weight Watchers for me next week I'm afraid. I need the humiliation of public weigh ins and someone telling me that 1lb per week is good.Sad

Racheyg · 23/09/2015 21:50

glad we made the right decision with costa del sol, we dont go till may so it gives me just under 8 months to lose 3 stone wow thats means i have to lose just over 1lb a week.

green, 1lb is a good loss. I have heard that ww has had a revamp do you know what plan you are going to choose?

Greenrabbit · 29/09/2015 22:02

Going to an actual Weight Watchers meeting tomorrow Shock. Time to get serious.

How is everyone?

Greenrabbit · 29/09/2015 22:03

Not sure about plans yet Rachey. I think I'll try Filling and Healthy to start with.

Racheyg · 30/09/2015 08:05

morning all,

Good luck with today green.

Hasnt been a great week been dipping in and out of the diet. Im very sleep deprived so havent been so strict. Im off to the gym today and tomorrow.

me and the fam are off to coombs haven on monday so diet is out the window again. I just have no will power :)

hope you are all well?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 30/09/2015 13:56

Hi all,

we're under quarantine here - the kids have chicken pox. It's been a long week and I've done ok diet wise (although just had some crisps so what do I know). Very sleep deprived due to the kids being awake a lot at night.

How did you get on at weight watchers Green? You must fill us in on your eating plan.

I sympathise with the sleep deprivation and bad eating habits Rachey, it's very hard. Enjoy your holiday and maybe get back on track when you come back.

Racheyg · 30/09/2015 16:03

Hi sol,
Wishing you and your family a quick recovery Flowers

Ds2 isn't sleeping well I think he is teething so needs lots of cuddles and fusses a lot (lots of tears) so I'm finding it hard eating well.

Hope all went well green at Ww

Greenrabbit · 05/10/2015 10:46

Morning everyone,

How is the pox going Sol? Are you all out of quarantine yet? I hope they are feeling better now.

Hope the baby is improving Rachey, it's hard to eat well when you're tired.

Are you okay Beyond?

I joined Weight Watchers. The leader told me to do points first, so I'm doing as I'm told. I avoided alcohol all weekend so I had more points left for food. It's okay really. Just hard getting organised with main meals. DH is away next week so I'm looking forward to hitting M&S and buying a weeks worth of ready meals for myself!

Some ladies at the meeting have lost (and maintained) over 100 lb! Amazing.
It's boring, sensible and slow. But it does seem to have improved a lot since I last gave it a proper try. (I did the online one last year but didn't get my head fully round it)
Anyway, I really want one of those key rings they give out for 'milestones'. So the first is 10%. I'm aiming for that.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 06/10/2015 21:31

Hi all,

sorry for disappearing. The chicken pox has cleared, we are waiting to see if DS2 has it though as there is a 20 day incubation period (thanks bacteria) so we won't know until next week.

I have an abscess and an infection in one of my teeth so I am in utter, unending agony. I literally want to knock myself unconscious until this agony stops. I am also finding it hard to eat so hoping for a drop on the scales (silver linings and all that).

I bought some boots for the winter form mandmdirect, really well worth a browse if you fancy some cut priced clothing and footwear.

How many points do you get per week Green? I am seriously jealous of your M&S dinner plan, their food is heavenly. How come the ladies who have lost 100lbs are still attending meetings? I'd be too bust strutting around in a bikini if that were me Grin

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 07/10/2015 13:03

Hi Sol. Have you got drugs for your mouth? It sounds very nasty, I'd be thinking about weight loss as some sort of compensation too.

DD2 got her first spots 14days after DD1, everyone I'd spoke to said the same. I suppose it's best to get it out of the way. DD2 didn't cope as well though, but she hates taking medicine and she had hundreds of spots. How did your son cope?

Which boots did you buy?
I like the stuff on Mandmdirect but I rarely catch anything in my size, I should check more regularly. I bought some cheap Uggs (leather) last month (from Shoeaholics) and I'm really pleased I did. It's pissing it down today, there's no other way of describing it. Anyway the boots are nice and warm and waterproof. I barely had last year's off my feet, so thought I'd get a similar pair in black too.
I got a waterproof parka last week too. So glad about that purchase as well.
It's hard to believe how hot it was last week.

Anyway back to diet chat.

Greenrabbit · 07/10/2015 13:18

Sorry, got distracted.

Weight Watchers- lost 6.5lb. Hooray! I'm really pleased with that. Especially as I haven't starved and I've had some chocolate (okay 2 bags of cadburys )
I had no alcohol though. It's my downfall, I've bought some half size bottles of wine. I'm going to have one of those one night per week.

I did have 31 points last week, and then the 49 extras, now it's down to 30 per day. It's actually quite a lot to eat. I rarely have breakfast anyway, then I was having a reasonable sized lunch and a nice big dinner.

There were quite a few gold members at the group. I suppose if I'd lost 100lb I would be terrified of putting it back on (as I will be if I ever shift this weight).

the M and S plan is good isn't it? I'm going to try to find out the point values of the meals before I go shopping so I can pick some nice things out.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 08/10/2015 20:23

Jesus Green that's a fantastic loss!!!! You must be thrilled. I'm glad to hear you haven't found it too bad. Booze is my downfall too, I really enjoy a glass of chilled white wine, it's not like years ago when I liked to get drunk and dance the night away (badly!). What sort of meals have you been having?

You sound like you made wise fashion choices, there is nothing better than a comfy pair of boots. I bought Firetrap (not a brand I'd normally go for but they were really cheap) faux uggs and a pair of brown, suede Rocket Dog boots - I know suede is a disaster for the rain but I'll weather proof them and hope for the best.

I'm really hoping DS2 doesn't get the chicken pox, I know he'd get a really bad dose and be a nightmare. He's too young to understand not to scratch and take the revolting medicine. It's 2 weeks tomorrow from when DS got his first spot so I guess I'll know then.

My trip to the dentist was eventful. I need a root canal and possibly a filling. I have an abscess and an infection, I want to pull my jaw clean off my body - but I won't. I'm on painkiller and antibiotics but they aren't really the miracle I had hoped they'd be and I'm still in pain. Apparently having HG in my last pregnancy means my teeth are in a terrible state Sad

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 08/10/2015 22:27

Thanks Sol. Yeah I'm really pleased. I think I'd already resigned myself to the fact it wouldn't work. But doing the points reinforced the fact that I haven't been eating properly for a very long time. Its going to be slow but I need to try. Boring, sensible and I can only blame myself if it goes wrong.

Sorry to hear about the horrible dentist visit. It must be really painful. I've only had fillings so far and that fills me with fear. I hate to think about how painful it must be. I hope the antibiotics start to work soon and it gets sorted.Flowers

Your shopping sounds good too, just wear wellies if it's really wet! (Although I hear that's often in your part of the world?)

My DD would have been a similar age to your youngest (20 months)when she had it in March? She didn't itch too much but it did upset her. The virus gel stuff was quite good, but we had a few upset nights. I hope he is okay, especially if you're so poorly too. Sad

Greenrabbit · 08/10/2015 22:39

Okay just checked my meals, not very interesting.

Breakfast - don't really bother, but on days I had some oats (30g) with 100g of fat free yogurt and a handful of frozen blueberries (4points)
Kingsmill crumpet thins with marmite (2 for 3 points)

Lunches- half a tin of beans on a Kingsmill wholemeal thin.
Jacket potato with tuna and fat free fromage frais, salad (9 points)
Homemade soup (chicken, veg, broth mix), not sure of the points but I guessed no more than 7?

Dinners - one night I had lots of stir fried veg with a packet of brown rice and 2 eggs (done like egg fried rice) 14points
Homemade curry with nann
Roast dinner (no potato, I had swede instead)
More soup

Snacks- apples, yog and blueberries, WW version of digestives, marmite cheddar, babybels.

I'm bored just reading that

Racheyg · 09/10/2015 21:23

Green, what an amazing loss. I am so happy for you :)

Sol, I am sorry to hear about your tooth ache. how long have you been on the antibiotics? they can take 2 days to start taking effect (sorry if you already know this) When are they starting the root canal treatment?

I have just come back from my caravan haven holiday and I have never eaten sooo much junk. I feel really awful and as I took my pump so mum and dad could feed ds2 I had a few drinks aswell. Im very nervous to even weigh myself. I was doing so well on my diet and going to the gym, I feel its back to square one.

hope you both have great weekends.

Greenrabbit · 10/10/2015 08:09

Thanks Rachey, I feel like I really have to give it my best shot this time.

Did you have a nice time on holiday? You deserve to have some drinks, did you survive the close proximity in the caravan?!

Just give it a couple of days before getting back on the scales. It's probably no where near as bad as you think. You'll lose it quickly when you get back onto your routine. You have been doing really well don't feel down.

Is the weather still good where you are? Go for some extra walks with the pram (easier said than done with a 2 yo in tow)

SolitudeSometimesIs · 10/10/2015 09:17

Those meals sound nice Green, very healthy. Did you roast the swede? I never know what to do with it.

I agree with Green Rachey, give the scales a few days and then check. I hope you had a good holiday.

I'm still in agony with my tooth, sometimes I cannot cope and want to knock myself unconscious until the antibiotics kick in. I had a lot of padding put into the tooth to patch it up until I get my root canal and it just came out. I want to cry.

As you predicted Green, DS2 came up in spots yesterday morning. He is ok but has a temp and just wants to spend his time sitting on my knee. I have him coated in PoxClin and various other medicines.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 13/10/2015 21:19

the holiday was ok, I wont do that haven again. seemed alittle run down. I would consider Butlins esp when ds2 is older.

green The weather is still nice, I have been to the gym twice since we returned and I am going again tomorrow, need to step it up a gear :) No walks for me ds1 hates the pushchair with a passion I struggle to go anywhere with him without help controlling him (poor ds2 is sick of me running with the sling on :) ) When is your weigh day? how is week 2 going?

Sol how is your tooth have you had the RCT yet? has ds2 recovered?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 14/10/2015 15:21

Hi, tooth still not fixed properly, have to go back in 2 weeks. I have to take monster painkillers which have made me pretty sick so I can't take them any more (even though they work really well). DS2 still has chicken pox but he's been really brilliant, they are in his mouth so very hard for him to eat, so it's been lots of mushy stuff.

Rachey sorry to hear your holiday spot was a bit rundown. YOu sound so motivated with all your work outs. You must be getting super fit at this stage.

I've never tried Butlins, they don't really have them here. I went when I was a kid though and remember having great fun at the disco's.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 16/10/2015 13:20

So I have lost 6lbs this week. Well, it's not all what it seems. I put on 6lbs due to the medication I was on for my teeth (thanks painkillers that ruin your digestive system). I am, however, delighted that I have got rid of the puffy faced, swollen stomached monster I was last week.

So on with the losing 1 lb per week. It seems no time to Christmas and I would like to be a minimum of 7 lbs lighter. I want to be a size 14 too. Just need to get some self-control...Can I get that for Christmas???

OP posts:
Racheyg · 16/10/2015 15:39

Wow sol that's great news. I also hope the tooth is healing. What restoration are you having on the tooth after the rct is finished? Just because the tooth is weaker now and is vulnerable to fractures and cracks. It's best to have a crown on the tooth as this will protect the tooth better than a filling. (Sorry I work in a dental practice)

I reckoned size 14 by Xmas is realistic that's also what I'm aiming for. Just need to stop snacking Grin

BeyondTheSea · 19/10/2015 19:47

Hello,

Sorry I have not been on the thread, work has been vile, and finding the nursery & school juggle a bit time consuming.

Well done on the weight losses. Fabulous results.
Sorry to hear you have been in the wars Sol, hope your tooth is sorted soon. Good advice from Racheyg. Glad you had a good break and I am sure your Spain holiday will spur you on :)

I weighted in on Friday and had lost 1 of the 14 Christmasn pre lbs. I suspect it has gone back on due to excess of weekend. I am trying very hard this week and tempted to start ww after reading Greens fab results.
Will weigh in on Saturday...
