Needing to lose 4st+ - support thread!

HippyJess · 12/03/2015 12:23

Since I want somewhere to track my progress I'm gonna do it here and have it act as a support thread for anyone else who wants to join me - because it certainly feels daunting and we can use all the help we can get!

I am 5 foot nothing and post DS (almost 6 months) I weigh (as of this morning) 95.2kg which I believe is around 14.5stone, but I avoid using st and lbs as I find it triggering. I would like to be back down to my pre-baby weight of circa 80kg by BiL's wedding in June. So...

HippyJess
SW: 95.2kg
GW1: 80kg (June)
GW2: 68kg (September)
UGW: 58kg (March 2016)

Short Term Goal: Do Davina's 15 Minute Fit every day for a week, starting today. I did it, and some of the easy versions were hard :( which is why I need to keep going.

Hope someone out there will want to join me! Hoping to post once a day to keep myself on track :) now off I go to make myself an omelette and veggies for lunch!

Some excellent losses, and non-scale victories. Well done, everyone. I have a loss of a mere half a pound this week, and an NSV of half an inch gone round hips. So progress, but painfully slow. I seem to have got myself in a Catch 22 situation where the slow progress has an impact on my motivation, so I eat a bit more, and my progress slows further.

I bought a book on self-sabotage that I'm going to read this week to see if it has some tricks that might help me get back in the zone. I'm not generally a fan of the self-help genre but I'm desperate enough to try anything at this stage. Plus, I'm likely to have a bit of free time for reading as I'm doing jury service, and past experience tells me there's likely to be a fair bit of hanging around. So maybe the embarrassment of reading a self-help book with keep me away from the sociable clusters near the coffee and cake.

Stellar67 · 12/09/2015 15:16

Well done on the losses!
Yes, jury duty requires reading! I was a witness once for two days sitting with police officers because they kept me away from the "others". I read lots.
So what's the book? I don't like self help either but being nosy. Wink
DS1 had his swimming lesson today so I sat in the steam room and tried to lose the cold. It felt good actually.

This one, stellar. Don't judge me. I just stumbled across it on Amazon, and it might be the most terrible dross for all I know. As I googled its title, I see it has a fairly cheesy looking motivational type website: I'm not ready to explore it yet but if the book isn't too awful, I might.

Hope the cold shifts soon.

Dyrne · 13/09/2015 11:45

Absolutely gutted this morning, weighed in and I'm exactly the same as last week, despite keeping below my calorie limit every day. I know it's normal to get plateaus, but I was really hoping to have gotten below 12st this week. I'll measure my hips and waist in a bit, hopefully I'll be able to scrape a NSV at least this week!

Rubbish about the cold, Stellar and SFB, I'm exactly the same as you with just wanting to eat crap when I'm ill.

Baubles and Pippi, I'm impressed you're managing to stick to 900 calories! I've been having a low calorie lunch (

Stellar67 · 14/09/2015 08:20

Dyrne, don't get down about. At least you didn't put on a 1lb! Honey crisps has a lot to answer for.
It's a new week and I still have this throat lurgy. But I'm off to spin off this 1lb. Hopefully.

Stellar67 · 18/09/2015 07:47

I'm guessing everyone is out being thin. Wink

I still have a cold. It's full blown and I can stop traffic with my nose. All I have done is eat crisps, so I have hidden the scales.

Have a good weekend everyone.

LondonHuffyPuffy · 18/09/2015 14:25

Hi Stellar

it's gone very quiet, hasn;t it?! I was busy just swinging, still, between 78kg and 81kg... sometimes from one day to the next. Sigh. Don't know what is going on with my body at the moment. I have effectively been like this since mid-August. I move enough, I consume few enough calories so I ought to be losing weight. Will you please come and liberate my scales?

Hope your cold gets better soon Flowers [lemsip emoticon] Wine

DowntownFunk · 18/09/2015 17:09

I'm pretty much the same weight so nothing to report. I'm up a lb down a lb every other day. I'm happy with my loss so far and now that a family boozy visit is over can get back to concentrating on eating less and moving more Grin

pippistrelle · 18/09/2015 18:33

I've been doing this for 26 weeks now so I was pleased to record a loss of 2lbs this week, taking me to a grand total of 50lbs. So, I gave myself a little fanfare, and then, of course, set about self-sabotaging through the medium of pizza and chocolate. I'm a div. Ah well, back on course tomorrow. (Again...)

vickibee · 18/09/2015 19:17

Pippi I am in my 29 th week and have finally got the 3 stone / 42 lb mark. Feels like a bit of a milestone. I was praised by my ww leader this week and got three stone like pebbles to mark my achievement. It was a tad embarrassing in front of the group when I got a cheesey clap.
Chins up need to keep going......

pippistrelle · 18/09/2015 20:08

^^

Well done us!

I'm planning to lose another stone. I suspect it might be the toughest of the lot, but I'm confident we can do this.

Stellar67 · 18/09/2015 21:52

Hello!
Well done losses!
Right that's my enthusiasm all worn out.
I went to yoga. Snottered my way through. Meant to be doing a half marathon walk on Sunday.
Wine or bed

pippistrelle · 18/09/2015 22:22

Poor snotty stellar and the cold that refused to give up. It has to be over soon surely.

pippistrelle · 18/09/2015 22:24

(Did that sound slightly ominous?)

56lbs in 22 weeks, while cake baking is brilliant, Brains. And only 5lbs to a healthy BMI? That's excellent.

You've inspired me to look at a BMI calculator, and I have 9lbs until I am officially healthy - as far as my weight is concerned anyway. The trapped nerve in my neck/shoulder is another story, but it's nixed weight training.

I met some new people this week somewhere where I felt smarter clothes were required so I'd had to buy new ones (including a size 10 skirt, in what must be the vainest of vanity sizing!), and I said something to one of the women (a very slim person) about it being quite nice to get out of my jeans and be smart for a change. She replied that it was nice to find that our smart clothes still fitted us, and that we hadn't put on weight. I was about to correct her when I realised that, of course, she had no idea that, not so long ago, I was a massive whopper of a person. I also concluded that I doubt whether she would have said such a thing to a person that she thought was fat. So, I kept quiet but quietly basked in the notion that I had 'passed' as a non-fat person. Can't decide if that's a bit bonkers or not.

Thanks, Brains. Ironically, (in the Alanis Morrisette sense of the word) it was from Fat Face...

Stellar67 · 19/09/2015 10:18

Brilliant news you two! You have spurred me on.
Had given up last night and had a bottle glass of wine and a packet of Cadbury Caramel things. Felt a bit bleh after.
So am back on it today. Smile

vickibee · 19/09/2015 14:03

My bmi is still 33, I have to lose another stone just to get into the overweight range. I am 15 stone 10 despite losing three stones. It is embarrassing to admit my start weight (hangs head in shame) I must look a lot better as my neighbour said Vicki have you lost weight? First time this has happened. SFB amazing achievement, your efforts keep me on track and motivated to catch you up!

That's a brilliant cake! Hope you all enjoyed it!
Vicki you have done so well. I know it sometimes feels never ending. I have a long way to go, and I seem to be a very slow loser so I'll be here for the long run. You are full of good advice, which works because you have lost so much.
I'm not sure if I will weigh myself this week. It gets me down. And despite the cold (yes it's still bloody here), I'm feeling quite good.

LollipopViolet · 21/09/2015 07:24

I stayed the same last week - have had a better week so hoping for a good loss :) I made lovely homemade soup yesterday and still have some left for today.

pippistrelle · 21/09/2015 09:01

You ARE doing a great job, vicki. But I totally get what you mean about being embarrassed. I'm still embarrassed too - partly at my weight (and the eagle-eyed amongst you might notice that I still don't say what it is), and partly at the lack of control I feel it demonstrates.

That cake looks amazing, Brains. (And I actually find cake one of the easier things to resist.)

I really hope you shake off the evil cold soon, stellar.

Upwards and onwards, Lollipop. In fact, upwards and onwards, all of us.

Huffy - if you're around - hope you're getting on okay.
