Needing to lose 4st+ - support thread!

HippyJess · 12/03/2015 12:23

Since I want somewhere to track my progress I'm gonna do it here and have it act as a support thread for anyone else who wants to join me - because it certainly feels daunting and we can use all the help we can get!

I am 5 foot nothing and post DS (almost 6 months) I weigh (as of this morning) 95.2kg which I believe is around 14.5stone, but I avoid using st and lbs as I find it triggering. I would like to be back down to my pre-baby weight of circa 80kg by BiL's wedding in June. So...

HippyJess
SW: 95.2kg
GW1: 80kg (June)
GW2: 68kg (September)
UGW: 58kg (March 2016)

Short Term Goal: Do Davina's 15 Minute Fit every day for a week, starting today. I did it, and some of the easy versions were hard :( which is why I need to keep going.

Hope someone out there will want to join me! Hoping to post once a day to keep myself on track :) now off I go to make myself an omelette and veggies for lunch!

I would, but I'm calorie counting and would cut back in order to have a yorkie! I don't know about points.

DippyDooDahDay · 23/03/2015 08:10

Morning!
Can I join too please? Am 5 ft 7, weigh 17st 13 (omg). Pre children weight was 12/13 St. Need to at least lose 5 St. Lots of emotional eating/wine and stuck at home single mum sofa eating after hard days at work! Am going to SW but not feeling motivated by it and am hoping a virtual support group may help..just downloaded My Fitness Pal.
Can I ask, what is the best exercise dvd for someone unfit?
Thanks!

squigglehead · 23/03/2015 09:33

Hi Dippy :) I'm massively unfit and doing Davina's 15 Minute Fit DVD. Its good because just when you're dying it stops! Hoping to build up from there but enjoying it so far :)

squigglehead · 23/03/2015 09:36

In other news, though after a lax weekend the scale has stalled at 93ish kg, I have lost an inch each from my neck, waist and hips!

mimiasovitch · 23/03/2015 16:40

Hello Dippy. Motivation and support are key, I think, so keep posting and don't be too hard on yourself. I tend to mix and match dvds. I like the 30 day shred, I have a kettlebell workout one which is really fab, and also some of the 10 minute solutions ones, which are good to get you started. If you want to do something more strength related, this is amazing. If anyone wants to be my friend on myfitnesspal I'm mimiasovitch on there too.

mimiasovitch · 23/03/2015 16:41

I forget to say well done squiggle. Those are the measurements that count.

Smoolett · 24/03/2015 20:20

Iquitelikeapples-my stats are almost the same as you except I am 5'6". My DD is 12mo and we want to start ttc in the next few weeks as well. I've lost about 10lb since Xmas but I have faffed about I'm really struggling atm Confused

Smoolett · 24/03/2015 20:26

Should have said ttc in the next few months

vickibee · 27/03/2015 09:48

it was the dreaded weekly WW Weigh-in last night, good news is another 3 pounds off so 15 in total. I am pleased and my clothes are fitting better so why do I still feel like a beached whale? (I still have 3.5 stone to go)
Mum taking me out for a meal tonight at a Vintage Inn, any ideas what to have from the menu?

squigglehead · 27/03/2015 10:30

Well done Vicki that's fantastic! :) I would choose something you really want from the menu and really savour it, but maybe that's just me.

Finally saw 92.9kg on the scale this morning so I'm back going in the right direction. Have shifted from 16:8 to 5:2 and today is my first fast day (1000 cals as I'm BF DS), going well so far but I'm sure it will be lots harder as the day goes on!

Well done Vicki, I hope you enjoy yourself tonight. I'm just calorie counting, and have lost 5 lb this week, which I'm delighted with. It is the first week though, so I expect it'll slow a bit. I'm trying to go low carb at breakfast and lunch, which has been easier than I thought, as long as I have an idea of what I'm going to eat. I'm waiting for the mad rush morning when I succumb to a slice of buttery toast at work, but I'm feeling really motivated and am not likely to slip (yet). I've also started with a personal trainer, who is a regular customer in work. Good, because I can't avoid him! I am aching dreadfully today though. My poor thighs haven't worked so hard in eons.

vickibee · 28/03/2015 09:43

I was really good I had a chicken salad but what I really wanted was steak and chips followed by choc brownie and ice cream!!! No idea how to count the pro points so I will guess
five pounds really good in one week mimi

squigglehead · 28/03/2015 14:03

Good going guys :) had my first fast day yesterday and today an trying to lower my carb choices - had an extra egg scrambled instead of toast with my usual two! And veg curry leftovers for lunch with a couple of rice cakes instead of rice.

squigglehead · 30/03/2015 07:40

So its not technically a weigh in day for me bur I though I'd see the damage done after a lax weekend and I've still lost :) still having a fast day to reset though!

SW: 95.2kg
CW: 92.2kg (-3kg)
GW1: 80kg (June)
GW2: 68kg (September)
UGW: 58kg (March 2016)

squigglehead · 30/03/2015 07:41

*but I thought

squigglehead · 31/03/2015 08:29

91.6 today... Was 88 when I got pregnant! Getting there! :)

banananugget · 01/04/2015 08:54

Hi can I join please? I am 5ft 5 and weighed myself Monday and was 14st 10.8lbs which isn't good! I am currently unable to do too much due to an old back injury flaring up so have decided a new very slow approach is what I need. Whilst I sort myself out I have decided to change one thing a week. This week it is to drink more water. I am rubbish at drinking water so definitely a good place to start. It is going well so far but still need to drink more! Next week my thing to change is to go to pilates. After that I am back at work (currently on holidays) so will work on changing my diet then. I'm thinking of starting with 6:1 as I hope to start more exercise when my back is stronger in a few weeks. Have signed up for a run for motivation. I will be able to run even though my back is bad by taking the c25k plan very slow and repeating where necessary.

I know if I go hardcore at the beginning I will fail by lunchtime so I'm hoping the new slow approach will work! If I lose 1lb a week I will be happy!

squigglehead · 01/04/2015 21:25

Hi banananugget, glad to have you :) 1lb a week does sound a good aim - try to remember that that's 54lbs in a year which seems a lot more impressive! I'm 14st 8ish and only 5 ft if that makes you feel any better Wink

Just had a 5:2 fast day today, shall see how I go tomorrow on my "official" weekly weigh in... Have a busy weekend full of family gatherings ahead!

Tinofroses · 01/04/2015 23:08

Can I join in too? Sorry had a long post typed but deleted it somehow. Had been doing well but have slipped up big time. Have been eating loads of junk and need to cut it out again. Missed a few classes but went back tonight. Am now 13st 9lbs . Would love to be less than 13st by end of May . Is that even achievable. Am in my mid 40s and find it harder now than when I was younger. Your all doing well so keep up the good results

squigglehead · 02/04/2015 09:05

Welcome Tin :) you're back to classes now and that's the main thing. I think its an achievable goal :)

I'm using 5:2, doing 1000 cal fast days due to BF and 1700 on non fast days (goal TDEE). I've just hit the 1 stone mark - that's since Feb, with most of it following the above for the past month. So now I only have 5 stone to lose instead of 6!

IWantToMakePeppaBacon · 02/04/2015 10:27

Hi all, does anyone mind if i join? I actually started losing weight at new year, but I have completely stalled. Need some motivation and you are all doing so well!

I had DC2 in May last year and was 14 stone the day after. Too much on a 5ft 3 frame! Had an extremely unflattering photo taken around Christmas and have been fairly focused since then. However, the last month I have put on 2lbs Sad

So here's my numbers:

SW 14 st
CW 10st 10lbs
GW 9st 7lbs
UGW 9st

squigglehead · 02/04/2015 16:19

IWant welcome! We have similar stats, you've done amazingly so far :) you'll be back on track before you know it!

vickibee · 02/04/2015 19:42

I am feeling disheartened by the ww weigh in, only lost half a pound even though I followed the plan and was really good. I came out feeling I may as well go and get a curry to drown my sorrows in. Will have to try harder I guess.

Tinofroses · 04/04/2015 08:21

Just said I'd do a quick post and keep motivated for Easter. Have had 2 goodish days. Have visitors so eating well but no crap like chocolate or crisps as they are health freaks. Had some nice Ice cream for dessert and 1 glass of wine . Not too bad. Everyone sounds positive so keep it up.
