Needing to lose 4st+ - support thread!

Since I want somewhere to track my progress I'm gonna do it here and have it act as a support thread for anyone else who wants to join me - because it certainly feels daunting and we can use all the help we can get!

I am 5 foot nothing and post DS (almost 6 months) I weigh (as of this morning) 95.2kg which I believe is around 14.5stone, but I avoid using st and lbs as I find it triggering. I would like to be back down to my pre-baby weight of circa 80kg by BiL's wedding in June. So...

HippyJess
SW: 95.2kg
GW1: 80kg (June)
GW2: 68kg (September)
UGW: 58kg (March 2016)

Short Term Goal: Do Davina's 15 Minute Fit every day for a week, starting today. I did it, and some of the easy versions were hard :( which is why I need to keep going.

Hope someone out there will want to join me! Hoping to post once a day to keep myself on track :) now off I go to make myself an omelette and veggies for lunch!

I properly lolled at fat angry cat! That's how I feel most of the time. It's been an up and down week for me but I have done lots of walking. 140,078 steps. 123.3km

If I haven't lost more weight I will EAT a fat angry cat. With a side order of labrador.

LondonHuffyPuffy · 12/07/2015 23:28

PS thanks, Vicki xx

vickibee · 13/07/2015 09:47

BMI is a crude measure,My BMI is about 34.5 and still need to lose 2 stone to get down to 30 (overweight category) but I would be happy with this as I don't want to be Barbie - I would be a size 14 ish and that is fine by me. Every time I see my GP he inists on weighing me and I get the lecture about being fat. I don't smoke, rarely drink so I can;'t be that bad surely...There seems to be lots of support to quit smoking and drinking but very little for weight loss?

slithytove · 13/07/2015 09:57

Well I didn't have the best week last week, but I cut out a lot of snacks and tried to implement some form of portion control, and I lost 3lbs!

Now 12.12
I'm looking forward to getting to 12.6 which is the lowest id got to before I cracked.

So 13 lbs to lose in 7 weeks. I reckon that's doable with a bit of exercise. I'm going to bite the bullet and start 30 day shred today - I'm liable to try and get out of this so when I come back and confess I haven't yet, please, give me some tough love!

I really don't want to look old and flabby and saggy for this wedding.

Vicki - am nodding vigorously.

It's almost impossible to get good, evidence based information. I don't understand what a portion is, whether to avoid carbs or fats or both and why my weight fluctuates so much.

I've done a lot of googling. Nothing but conflicting advice.

8 weeks until I have to present a Big Work Thing. To a room full of fitness professionals.

No carbs at all from now on.

I had a NSV today...

I comfortably fit into my size 14 jeans! Ok, they're from Next so it's vanity sizing, but I'm still chuffed. My goal was to fit into these by the end of July.

I celebrated by buying 3 new bras Blush

Thanks for the articles, brains. I totally agree with you, siiiiiiigh that the information out there is conflicting. Even on some of the weight loss chat threads there is confusing and conflicting info... there's one in chat where a woman the same height and weight as me says she doesn't feel fat. The majority of the thread told her she is fat. I left the thread.

pippistrelle · 15/07/2015 19:41

Well, I'd like to send a hearty 'fuck you' to people who can sense someone else is fat over the internet, and not only that, but they must be told so. It's for their own good, and deciding someone you've never seen is fat makes one morally superior, don't you know? Oh no, wait, it doesn't.

This guy's BMI makes him obese, but I won't be telling him any time soon.

That is a brilliant NSV, Huffy! (I've forgotten what NSV means. Well, I remember the concept, but can't remember what the V stands for.

You might well be there in the morning anyway, Downtown. Fingers crossed for you.

Five pounds, mumslife - that's brilliant!

LondonHuffyPuffy · 15/07/2015 21:45

Nice work, mumslife!

Well, quite, pippi.

Yep, Non Scales Victory.

Downtown, I hope you get to that first stone soon

Yep grand total of one stone and quarter of a pound off as of this morning.

DowntownFunk · 16/07/2015 10:39

Shite, I hovered just above the 13 for aaaaages, I'm feeling your frustration.

Excellent, Downtown! I hope to emulate you tomorrow (Fridays are my 'official' weigh in day) as I was 0.4 lbs away from my next stone barrier this morning.

Brains - my resolve deserts me regularly, as a read back through this thread would no doubt demonstrate. When it's happened I've tried (sometimes more successfully than others) to focus on the overall downward trajectory. Blips happen, but they're not the big picture.

Posting here has also helped me, because I'd hate to have to tell you all that I've given up.

Yep, I know that feeling too and I couldn't quite bring myself to do it right at the start of the process either. But you only have to endure the shock to the system that it is once. I did find it quite upsetting initially too, but I'm glad I did it now. Next time, you do it, you'll be seeing progress.

siiiiiiiiigh · 16/07/2015 12:47

shite - resolve is a funny thing. Mine wanes too - I find I'm great for a maximum of 6 weeks and then something will get in the way. So, kids are sick, holidays, harassed, squabble with husband, whatever it takes to use as an excuse to eat a box of tunnocks teacakes and pretend they make me feel better.

Oh, and, being on target for predicted loss and not being on target. Those both count too.

I think I just have to stop kidding myself. I am too fat because I eat too much and don't move enough. Just like everyone else.

And, if I continue to do what I've always done, then, I'll be fat, like I always have.

It's not rocket science, but, jeez. It's hard.

One day at a time. If today's rubbish and wonky, well, there's tomorrow. Not impossible to fix, just needs some attention.

Am craving wine. Ugh. I anyone has spare resolve, then, send it my way, please. x
