So, I'm changing my life on Monday...

Well, that's what I hope. Am currently overweight. I am tall so can carry it quite well, but I always feel very flabby and am uncomfortable with my size. I have lost weight successfully before so I know I can do it, but have lacked a bit of motivation and willpower in the last year. Gradually my weight has crept up and trying on clothes yesterday was not fun!!

My plan is this:
Food diary - am a mindless eater
Drink more water - tend to eat when I am actually thirsty
Move more - this will be the biggest change. I work FT now and move much less within my everyday life. I now need to factor in exercise as it is no longer part of my day to day life.

I would like to lose 14 pounds in total, but am going to start with 7 pounds as my first goal!

So, anyone care to join me?

That's great First!

I've been feeling rather hungover today. Didn't have much to drink but obviously can't handle it anymore! Had MacDonald's for dinner as felt so rough. I've logged it on MFP, only 800 calories over my usual daily intake!! Shock

DakotaFanny · 10/05/2015 21:36

Hi all, well done on successes. Sts for me last week.

nsrnewyou79 · 11/05/2015 12:59

can so relate to everyones struggles, I know how much bad food affects my body/mood/ weight, but crave it all the time! I am eating healthily and exercising but struggle with wanting to snack, and even though ive really curbed my eating I just cant seem to loose weight, im exercising too !! Any ideas?

YerTiz · 11/05/2015 13:41

Well done on losses. Half a pound for me this week, does that count?! Have had pizza and crisps for lunch, fatty fatty fat fat. Blush I'm very tired (excuses excuses).

Hi nsrnewyou79. Are you recording food via anything like myfitnesspal? How much are you eating/exercising?

LetMeDriveTheBus · 11/05/2015 16:42

Yer 1/2 pound loss definitely counts! Well done Smile.

Dakota, keep with it. You'll probably have a big whoosh of weight off next week again.

nsr, I've found accurate logging key. I use mfp and weigh foods using an electronic scale. Exercise is great for you in loads of ways but doesn't have much impact on weight loss.

DakotaFanny · 13/05/2015 16:00

Enjoy looking good for a woosh this week either, although am sticking with it.

How many calories do you all aim for, if you don't mind telling me? I'm wondering whether to cut down a bit...current on 1300-1400 but considering going to 1200 and seeing if that helps- it's only 12 weeks till I'm in a swimming costume- yikes!!!

DakotaFanny · 13/05/2015 16:55

NOT looking good....!

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 13/05/2015 17:27

I'm on 1270... But often go over by about 50.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 13/05/2015 19:26

I cut down to about 1200 as I was getting frustrated the weight wasn't coming off quickly enough. I usually manage that in the week and then have a more relaxed day at the weekend after my weigh in!

DakotaFanny · 13/05/2015 19:53

And do you eat back any calories 'earned'? In principle, I know most people will argue that you shouldn't but, on a good day, I might burn 400 calories, therefore only netting 800....

LetMeDriveTheBus · 13/05/2015 20:39

I don't Dakota but it's a personal choice.

I reckon I probably under-estimate calories eaten, as I don't log all veg (except starchy ones), don't count sugar free squash etc. So I figure if I aim for 1200 I'm probably a bit over that.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 13/05/2015 21:06

No I don't eat back calories earned either.

DakotaFanny · 13/05/2015 21:31

Cool. Thank you both.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 14/05/2015 19:19

God I have had an awful day. I've eaten like my pre-duet days. I had a BLT, 2 packs of crisps, peanut butter on toast, a ripple, and a whole bag of walnuts. That's hardly healthy eating is it. Not one piece of fruit or veg. Sad

LetMeDriveTheBus · 14/05/2015 19:30

Any reason things went off track First? Just put it behind you and crack back on with the plan tomorrow

really want a ripple now

DakotaFanny · 14/05/2015 20:49

Walnuts are pretty much fruit though....

Back on the game tomorrow First. You'll be fine.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 14/05/2015 20:56

I think it's because I've had a really really crap week at work. People not doing their jobs properly leaving me to pick up the mess. I've spent most of this week angry and today I ate angry! :(

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 16/05/2015 07:37

Week 1 - ? No scales
Week 2 - 11stone11lb
Week 3 - 11stone7lb (-4)

Week 6 - 11stone2lb (0)
Week 7 - 10stone12lb (-4)
Week 8 - 10stone11lb (-1)
Week 9 - 10stone11lb (0)
Week 10 - 10stone12lb (+1)
Week 11 - 10stone7lb (-5)
Week 12 - 10stone7lb (0)
Week 13 - 10stone7lb (0)
Total loss 18lb

I'm not really surprised. Time to get back into C25K I think. It's been a few weeks in not sure what week to go back to.

DakotaFanny · 16/05/2015 08:58

I have also stayed the same again (well, actually lost 0.2 of a pound, but trying not to feel too excited about that!!) BUT....

I have done a LOT of reading this week around the idea of eating more, not less. Basically, a colleague looked at my food intake/ calorie burn tracker and said something like "if you're not losing with numbers like that (roughly 1400 in, 300 out every day) then your body MUST be holding on to it in panic" and suggested I eat more...but healthy more. I then looked into EM2WL (eat more to weigh less) and have had a bit of an halleluljah moment. So, from Wednesday on, I have eaten between 1600-1900 calories. Was kind of dreading a gain (happens to a lot of seasoned dieters before they level out and start dropping) so am happy with my STS. Hopefully won't see a big gain next week either. Have a read if you've got a spare few hours minutes. I'd be interested to know your opinions.

I do feel a bit of an idiot, in that I have basically spent the last 5 months trying every weight loss method going (WW, 5:2, low calories and now this). I'm not usually so indecisive or changeable. However, the bigger picture is, I am undoubtedly eating the most healthily I ever have in my life, I am definitely slimmer, I might be beginning to tone up a bit - still doing the 30 day challenges on legs, bum, belly and arms- and I'm down 15lbs since January. Slow progress but progress all the same.

Have a good weekend all. Xxxx

LetMeDriveTheBus · 16/05/2015 12:35

I've stayed the same too. In good company! Am fine with it as had such a big loss last week was expecting it. Plus had a nice dinner out last night with a few drinks.

At a food festival today so relaxing the plan. Back on track tomorrow.

Dakota I've found it useful to look into TDEE etc and see what calories I'd have to eat to maintain/lose a bit/lose a lot. Every individual is different in what approach suits them and they find they can stick with Flowers.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 16/05/2015 14:01

Dakota it's worth a try... But it seems a strange concept to eat more. At least as you said it's healthy and you're eating healthier than you normally do. Let's see what happens next week. :)

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 16/05/2015 14:03

BTW I ran today. I decided to go back to week 3, but it was too easy. I'll do one week 4 run and then one week 5 run and take it from there.

YerTiz · 17/05/2015 19:16

Ooof I've had a rubbish day. Had a cheeky weigh in this morning and saw I was on track to sts, so very carefully completed mfp with the intention of getting back on it.

But then we went to m&s to buy a treat dinner - just worked it out as 947 cals, FOR ONE MEAL Shock.

It was lovely though Grin

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 18/05/2015 06:58

Determined to loose 3lb this week, to make up for 3 weeks where I STS. Wish me luck!

LetMeDriveTheBus · 18/05/2015 07:20

Good luck First!
