So, I'm changing my life on Monday...

Well, that's what I hope. Am currently overweight. I am tall so can carry it quite well, but I always feel very flabby and am uncomfortable with my size. I have lost weight successfully before so I know I can do it, but have lacked a bit of motivation and willpower in the last year. Gradually my weight has crept up and trying on clothes yesterday was not fun!!

My plan is this:
Food diary - am a mindless eater
Drink more water - tend to eat when I am actually thirsty
Move more - this will be the biggest change. I work FT now and move much less within my everyday life. I now need to factor in exercise as it is no longer part of my day to day life.

I would like to lose 14 pounds in total, but am going to start with 7 pounds as my first goal!

So, anyone care to join me?

I've created a new conversation in general weight loss chat. It is basically just a copy of my last post. Will let you know if anyone comes up with any clever ideas. Please feel free to post here, there or everywhere. X

dakota :(
I have also gained 1lb this week. My first weight gain since we started.

I blame the fact that it was my birthday on Thursday and I went out for a nice lunch and did zero exercise last week.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 25/04/2015 17:04

Sorry about the gain First but I hope you had a lovely birthday.

Dakota I know the calories burnt through exercise are massively over-estimated on mfp etc. But that doesn't seem to account for things as you're obviously tracking religiously. Hopefully someone might suggest something more helpful. Do you use a food scale and weigh everything?

DakotaFanny · 25/04/2015 20:28

Ah, First, boo!! But happy birthday- you're definitely allowed to ignore your weight on birthday week. X

I'm vaguely wondering about having a totally precooked food week, so I know how many calories I've had. Ready meal city!!!

LetMeDriveTheBus · 25/04/2015 21:30

M&S ready meals are lovely, the fuller for longer range.

DakotaFanny · 26/04/2015 09:15

Well, I've learned that everyone has a different opinion!!

My plan for this week is continued exercise and 1400 calories in....every day, unless I have had a crazy exercisey day, in which case I may have an extra glass of wine, but will make sure my net stays above 1200.

Loads of people contributed, but I'm not sure I'm any the wiser really!

Perserverance may be key!

LollipopViolet · 26/04/2015 11:26

Sorry I dropped off the thread, life got a bit crazy. I am confirmed as going to the US this summer, and while I was at my GP's surgery getting some medical forms filled out, he did a basic health check and weighed me.

I'm about pounds lighter than my Slimming World starting weight of 2 years ago :( but I am doing OK with eating healthier, so that's good.

Want to get down to around 165 pounds before I go at the end of June, which is about 10lbs to lose - that's doable in 7 weeks, if I'm good.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 26/04/2015 21:06

What week are we on? 9 or 10??

Dakota it was an interesting thread. But I agree, it just goes to show that no one way is the "right" way. Your plan for this week sounds sensible.

I have tried on some old jeans. They are still too muffin-toppy to wear out but I can get them on, do them up and breathe Grin. Am very pleased.

DakotaFanny · 26/04/2015 22:09

Wooo!! Well done Bus! Non scale victory! X

LetMeDriveTheBus · 28/04/2015 12:59

Thanks Dakota Grin.

How's everyone getting on this week?

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 28/04/2015 18:11

I feel like I'm having a good week. Back at work and busy so eating less. It is only Tuesday though! :)

DakotaFanny · 28/04/2015 19:38

I don't know!! Doing all the usual (being a bit stricter with weighing etc) but don't trust my own body right now! Ah well

YerTiz · 28/04/2015 22:20

I'm late with my weigh in this week. DH is away so I'm with the dc on my own for a couple of nights (sounds pathetic I know but it's the longest I've had to do it on my own and bedtimes are a real juggling act!).

I'll try and weigh in tomorrow but not expecting much. Still feeling very run down so exercise in non existent.

On another note I've been altering my skincare and taking some supplements based on an s&b thread and my skin looks a bit better, so that's something Grin

DakotaFanny · 29/04/2015 07:33

Was it the thread about double cleansing and being complimented on skin for the first time ever Yertiz?

BadNavyWife · 29/04/2015 07:36

Marking my place - I've got a wedding dress to fit into! 7lb would be a huge help, 14lb would get me over the moon. I'm on holiday until Tuesday so I'll be a late-comer...

YerTiz · 29/04/2015 08:26

It was Dakota Grin some of it was a bit scary but some made sense.

Welcome BadNavyWife.

YerTiz · 29/04/2015 08:27

Oh and I did weigh myself today - lost the pound I'd gained so, onwards and upwards.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 29/04/2015 13:39

Shoot me now. I've just had a Big Mac meal. :(
Oh dear. I gained a lb last week and now I'm eating Big Mac meals.

yertiz my skin is looking good too... I read thee same thread about double cleansing. I've been really good at removing my make up at night and using a serum. I've also just invested in an eye cream now I'm 38.

DakotaFanny · 29/04/2015 15:07

Haha! Me too. The same night I read it I spent £50 on Superdrug website...my skin DEFINITELY looks better. I especially like my hot cloth cleanser, but cannot yet afford liquid gold!

Welcome BadNavyWife, well done YerTiz and First, panic not! Don't let one (scrumptious) Big Mac ruin your whole week. You'll be fine if you can just pick it up again (not the Big Mac, the positivity!) x

LetMeDriveTheBus · 29/04/2015 19:29

Yer well done. Sounds like you're back on track.

Hi Bad.

Ooh First I was having a little fantasy about scoffing a Maccy D's while I was driving home from work. Now I REALLY want one!!

I bought some new clothes yesterday and I'm pleased with them. But I felt a bit crap in the changing room and haven't managed to shake it off since. In the 3 way mirrors, I could see all my bulges and back fat. I've lost a chunk of weight but it just makes me realise I have a way to go. I have another stone and a few pounds to get to a healthy BMI.

Whinge over.

Runnaway · 29/04/2015 19:54

Hi all, glad to see you are doing well. I am really impressed with the progress. Just to say I realised a few weeks ago that I find this hard without a real class so I started going to WW two weeks ago and am doing better. The leader is really strict and I am quite scared of her. I obviously need that as I have lost five pounds since I started.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 29/04/2015 20:13

That's great Runnaway.

DakotaFanny · 30/04/2015 16:12

Well done Runnaway- that's brill!

LollipopViolet · 30/04/2015 22:45

So pleased with myself today - skipped breakfast (OK, not good, but I wasn't hungry) and had a biiiig bottle of juice before work, then had pasta and a Nature Valley bar for lunch, with another, smaller bottle of juice, followed by a roast dinner this evening, that I couldn't finish.

So, I think I've figured out that drinking juice, although probably not great in terms of sugar, helps me not eat so much. So, I'll take that for now. Will weigh in tomorrow, not done one since docs last Friday but had a couple of shocking days. Then will plod on with juice-as-a-snack diet and see how I go :)

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 01/05/2015 05:54

I've done okay. I think I'm getting back on track. It's a bank holiday weekend though and we have lots of plans and a party to attend, but so long as I weigh in on Saturday morning like usual it shouldn't effect me! ;)
