So, I'm changing my life on Monday...

Well, that's what I hope. Am currently overweight. I am tall so can carry it quite well, but I always feel very flabby and am uncomfortable with my size. I have lost weight successfully before so I know I can do it, but have lacked a bit of motivation and willpower in the last year. Gradually my weight has crept up and trying on clothes yesterday was not fun!!

My plan is this:
Food diary - am a mindless eater
Drink more water - tend to eat when I am actually thirsty
Move more - this will be the biggest change. I work FT now and move much less within my everyday life. I now need to factor in exercise as it is no longer part of my day to day life.

I would like to lose 14 pounds in total, but am going to start with 7 pounds as my first goal!

So, anyone care to join me?

Brilliant dakota I'm chuffed to bits so know you must be too. My goal is 10 stone. I'm now on desperate need of new clothes because I've dropped a dress size and everything looks stupidly baggy on me. :)

headoverheels · 11/04/2015 15:00

Well done everyone - some brilliant losses! I've been on holiday so haven't weighed in this week and expecting next week to be bad! Feeling v motivated though to get back on it after reading all your posts Smile

LetMeDriveTheBus · 11/04/2015 18:35

Yes Dakota, we're away for a week in June but that won't be a beachy event. The August one I'm aiming for, I want to feel comfortable in the pool and on the beach with the kiddies. Not a self-conscious heffalump! Grin

DakotaFanny · 11/04/2015 21:01

I need to do some SERIOUS toning before I'm getting these thighs out in a costume. Bleurrghh she said through a mouthful of popcorn

YerTiz · 11/04/2015 21:30

Well done on the losses (and the negligible gains)! A stone - wow - that's a great milestone! Our scales have run out of battery and we don't have any replacements, feeling a bit panicky!

Have ordered myself some new summer clothes today in a slightly optimistic size, hmmm.

RunningKatie · 13/04/2015 12:56

Wow to the losses, great going everyone.

I weighed in same as last week, which is lucky given how I've eaten since the pox arrived and i ate all the creme eggs

Today I've done a huge walk with ds in the buggy, I reckon it was about 6 miles and I am exhausted. Pleased I did it but am also scared at how unfit i am. I used to run that far most days before work Sad

DakotaFanny · 13/04/2015 13:25

But did you do the walk last week or the week before Running? No? So that's progress then. Well done.

I know what you mean though- having started using MFP again I was shocked to discover that only three years ago I almost weighed what I am aiming to weigh now (154lbs). Why oh why oh why did I let myself put on those three stone again? Why didn't I realise or acknowledge that it was going on? And why did I not get to that weight and stay there?? Gggrrrrrrr!!!

Anyway, I came on to say day five of the plank was a killer....the jump to 40secs nearly killed me. Thank God tomorrow's rest day!!!

LetMeDriveTheBus · 13/04/2015 17:17

Oh Dakota I feel your pain on the weight gain front (not the plank, I've been really slack). I'm so cross with myself for putting weight on after losing it in the autumn. I would love to break the cycle of yo yo dieting. Am hoping the fasting (I'm doing 16:8) might be a lifelong habit for maintenance. Maybe wishful thinking. But I do know I'll always need to careful and aware of how quickly I can pile it back on.

DakotaFanny · 13/04/2015 18:49

Yes to breaking the cycle! I've realised that I am a fully fledged member of the lose weight for Summer club. A stone and a half off, a stone and a half on every single year. Last year we didn't go away, hence the even bigger gain. What a fool!!!!

And how brilliant to find a way out of the cycle. This time!!!!

chocoshopoholic · 13/04/2015 19:40

Week 0 - 11st9
Week 1 - 11st8 - -1lb
week 2 - 11st7 - -1lb (total 2lbs)
week 3 - 11st6 - -1lb (total 3lbs)
Week 4 - 11st5 - -1lb (total 4lbs)
Week 5 - oops, in pre holiday excitement I forgot to weight in!
Week 6 - 11st3 - -2lb (total 6lbs)
week 7 -11st2 --1lb

plus day 6 of the plank challenge-rest day!

RunningKatie · 13/04/2015 20:33

Thanks Dakota, that was what i needed to hear. I've been out to buy some cushioned insoles to help my heel in case the poxy one wants another epic walk tomorrow.

I'm definitely in the yo-yo mindset too, I need to keep the motivation going.

RunningKatie · 14/04/2015 12:20

Morning all
Just been logging on mfp, I've booked in with dh that my exercise for today is 30 mins on the bike turbo when he gets in. Hula hoop classes are temporarily the other side of the city so I'm missing another week.

I have a friend coming over tomorrow so this afternoon I will be burning calories by blitzing the house.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 14/04/2015 13:46

I am currently in soft play hell. On a happy note though I fitted quite easily through the rollers!

LollipopViolet · 14/04/2015 17:05

Can I join? Overall I need to lose about 5 stone, but I'm potentially going away to America in about 8 weeks, for 3 months, so if I can get a stone or 2 off before I go that'd be nice :)

DakotaFanny · 14/04/2015 17:21

Hello Lollipop- I'm aiming for about another stone and a half by Summer. We can do this!

RunningKatie · 14/04/2015 17:30

There is one softplay we go to that is very snug on the slide. Thankfully the dc's don't always need rescuing.

Welcome Lollipop, I need to have something to aim at again. We are supposed to be going away in June but nothing booked yet.

Dh is running late again, he's going to be grumpy that i want to exercise before the dc's go to sleep.

frownyface · 14/04/2015 18:06

Hi all, im on mfp and have been tracking now for 35 days ish :)

Im in a wheelchair, and have steadily put on a lot of weight :(

I weighed back in mid Jan-18st9lbs, as of last friday I am down 1st 2lbs. I havent been tracking religiously since Jan but have been very much 'on it' the last month or so. Its so hard! :0

Im on 1450 cals p/day.

Im 5'11 and I need to get down to around 13 stone to be within my healthy BMI. However im not thinking about the million stone I still need to lose as I know I will lose faith, this month im hoping to see 16 stone and will be pleased with that :)

I cant do any upright excercises but I can do excercises on a mat, so am using fitness blender on youtube and lifting very light weights every other day.

Today is a cheat day. I have saved up my cals for pizza hut tonight :)

Please add me! mrsjb1984 , will keep an eye on this thread too :)

financialwizard · 14/04/2015 18:25

I'll join you if ok. Started running to train for a 5k R4L race in July and have lost 1st 12lb since. Am going for another 2st loss before the end of the year. Am using MFP and am thinking that I am going to have to keep using it forever more just to make sure I keep the weight off.

financialwizard · 14/04/2015 18:30

frownyface I am soooo scared of having a cheat day. I cannot bring myself to do it. I couldn't even have a small piece of chocolate at Easter. Am dreading Christmas.

YerTiz · 14/04/2015 19:35

Hello newcomers Smile

Tesco man delivered new batteries for my scales so I can weigh myself tomorrow. Have a horrible virus now though and feeling very run down - so frustrating when I want to feel fit and healthy!

Means I haven't got past day 4 of the plank challenge.

On the plus side I haven't felt like eating much.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 14/04/2015 19:38

Well I'm pooped after today. :(. And I've just indulged in a Big Mac meal ... All 890 calories of it! :(

LetMeDriveTheBus · 14/04/2015 21:03

Nice to see some new faces here. Welcome all Smile.

First, I've been in soft play purgatory today as your post made me smile. No rollers though......phew!

I'm back at work tomorrow after maternity leave. I've made myself a nice salad for lunch and hoping I can stay away from the biscuits. Am hoping I'll busy which will keep my mind off FOOD!!

LetMeDriveTheBus · 14/04/2015 21:05

I hope you savoured and enjoyed the Big Mac First. I'm drooling on your behalf! There's no shame in having a fast food indulgence from time to time.

RunningKatie · 14/04/2015 21:23

I have spent over an hour cleaning the house and i am now drinking a pint of home brew Grin

The dc will not recognise the place when they get up!
