So, I'm changing my life on Monday...

Well, that's what I hope. Am currently overweight. I am tall so can carry it quite well, but I always feel very flabby and am uncomfortable with my size. I have lost weight successfully before so I know I can do it, but have lacked a bit of motivation and willpower in the last year. Gradually my weight has crept up and trying on clothes yesterday was not fun!!

My plan is this:
Food diary - am a mindless eater
Drink more water - tend to eat when I am actually thirsty
Move more - this will be the biggest change. I work FT now and move much less within my everyday life. I now need to factor in exercise as it is no longer part of my day to day life.

I would like to lose 14 pounds in total, but am going to start with 7 pounds as my first goal!

So, anyone care to join me?

Well done on the loss yer

I am had a minor yippee moment today, fitted in a dress that I've not worn since pre-dc. Really pleased it zipped up and I felt smart at the christening and party.

Still think I've probably eaten too much and it's weigh-in tomorrow. I've hurt my neck so not sure how much exercising I'll manage till that eases.

How's your foot First?

LetMeDriveTheBus · 29/03/2015 21:54

What a great achievement Running, to fit in to that dress Grin. Glad you felt good at the christening.

I've been trying on a couple of dresses this evening. I certainly have less of a bloated tummy, but still need to remember good posture to keep it all under control!

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 30/03/2015 07:25

Excellent achievements everyone. Weightloss and fitting into pre dc clothes is awesome. I had quite a naughty weekend but I need to lose some weight this week (it was a bit sad to stay static on Saturday). I'm getting nervous about Easter all the chocolate and the not having work to distract me from food.

On the running front left heel still hurts in the mornings, but not when running or anything so I'm battling through it. In repeating week 5 this week because I think I should take it a bit slower.

RunningKatie · 30/03/2015 08:14

Weigh in misery again Sad

I had a sneaky step on the scales on Friday and all was good, 1lb down in the week. Today I have gained 3lbs.

So, I'm back where I started.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 30/03/2015 13:58

Oh running... It's so hard. Don't give up :) you WILL get there!

RunningKatie · 30/03/2015 15:44

Thank you, am feeling a bit better now as my period has turned up early so hoping that accounts for some of the lbs. Will keep a cool head and not eat all the easter chocolate

DakotaFanny · 30/03/2015 21:39

It's hard this slimming malarkey, innit? Rubbish.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 31/03/2015 08:29

On a positive note can I inform you all that I look ridiculous. I got dressed in a hurry this morning in some of my usual work wardrobe and now I'm stood on the train struggling to keep my trousers up. I may not have lost a lb this week but I have clearly lost an inch. I daren't look in a full length mirror at work in case I look like a clown in giant trousers. :(

LetMeDriveTheBus · 31/03/2015 08:45

First Grin

I had a big clearout of my wardrobe yesterday but now I urgently need more clothes! I've sent so much stuff to the charity shop. I'm sort of between sizes so don't really want to fork out loads of cash on clothes that hopefully will be too big in a few months. But I want a few outfits I feel I look good in.

RunningKatie · 31/03/2015 08:58

Oh First, I feel your pain. I used to work for an IT company and we had cameras on the server room door. It took a photo of everyone going in the room, I used to look at my photos and vow not to wear particular clothes again.

My SAHM wardrobe features a lot of fleece Grin

headoverheels · 31/03/2015 11:14

Don't panic Running, I always put on a couple of pounds when my period is due, so hopefully your gain yesterday is not 'real'.

I haven't managed to weigh myself this week as I keep oversleeping (usually I rely on my DC as an alarm, but they are currently unreliable due to the clock change!) and being in too much of a rush getting reading for work. This is probably a good thing, as the weekend did not go well! (Went to a 40th on Sat, lots of food and drink plus hangover food on Sun!)

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 31/03/2015 19:46

Hmmm I have a pressing question. I work with a lot of doctors (I'm a scientist but not a medic). Anyway they are all noticing my weight loss (yay)... But I told one of them that I didn't lose a single pound last week and they said (I don't know if they're talking rubbish and I stupidly believe them because they're doctors when I probably shouldn't). That weight loss slows down when you have less fat to lose. Is this true? Am I now eating into muscle reserves because everyone always says to me I don't look as heavy as I actually am.

I don't want to et into muscle reserves. Is that even possible?

YerTiz · 01/04/2015 11:19

I have heard before First that weight loss slows but I don't know why or whether that means you'd be eating into muscle reserves (but I think if you're exercising as well surely not?).

Sorry I haven't been able to post as much lately. DHs grandfather did pass away last week, funeral tomorrow, so it's been a bit of a sad time. Plus birthday season has started (I've eaten so much rubbish!) and Easter hols, I feel a bit all over the place.

Well done everyone for keeping going despite any setbacks. I'm trying to not get too hung up on enjoying some cake this week and next whilst also reminding myself that I want to treat myself well (in a looking after myself kind of way, not stuffing myself Grin).

I've found if I get up in the morning and make a conscious choice over the first things to put in my body (as simple as choosing hot water with lemon rather than milky tea) it gets me in the right frame of mind.

Still no exercise for me, really need to get on that but realistically it won't be until after Easter break!

RunningKatie · 01/04/2015 14:34

Sorry to hear that YerTiz, hope you're all ok and that the funeral goes as well as these things can.

Not much exercise here either, we went for a 45 min walk this morning and didn't see another child. It's half-term, where are they all?

Yesterday I made myself drink 2 pints of water as I often forget, and it did seem to help. I'm trying to make it part of my April habit.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 01/04/2015 17:53

Oh yertiz I'm sorry for your family's loss. Flowers

DakotaFanny · 01/04/2015 20:44

Flowers Yertiz

Fast day for me today and the hardest one so far....the staffroom was full of hot cross buns and cupcakes and I was starving aaaallllll day. Absolute misery and was so close to caving.

Got some new jeans today- size 14. Too small [sob]....

Runnaway · 02/04/2015 08:19

Morning all!! Keep forgetting to check in. Am losing focus so I need to. The Easter eggs are looming too........

OP posts:
RunningKatie · 02/04/2015 08:26

C'mon Runnaway, you can do it!

I'm wondering if I can bake something with the easter chocolate to save me hoovering it up.

We've only got one egg so far but the ILs are not known for their restraint hence DH has bad teeth

I've started the 30 day plank challenge again for this month. I am determined to uncover some muscles under my wobbly belly.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 02/04/2015 09:36

Flowers Yer. Be kind to yourself.

Well done for sticking to your fast Dakota. Brilliant will power. I bloody love hot cross buns.

I'm feeling frustrated the weight is coming off so slowly. I'm annoyed I sabotaged myself in the autumn and put 1 stone back on of the 2 stone I'd lost. Easter Angry If I'd stayed on track then I'd probably be at my goal weight by now! Argh!!

Right, enough of the moaning!

RunningKatie · 02/04/2015 13:17

It's a gorgeous day here, going to attempt a walk with the dc's. I sold the double buggy this week so will see if dd will walk all the way. I may sneak the sling under the buggy just in case. Carrying a 2+ stone dc will be my exercise for the day or week

I'm going to a crochet class this evening, we are getting hot cross buns Smile

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 02/04/2015 14:07

We can do it - keep posting! :)
I lost nothing last week after a few weeks of really good progress... Fingers crossed for weigh in on Saturday. I'm desperate to be 10stone something!

DakotaFanny · 02/04/2015 21:04

Oooh, I did plank challenge last year- really enjoyed it...

I need to find a 30 day whole body challenge- anyone know one? Anyone want to join me in one?

Step away from the eggs ladies! Wink

LetMeDriveTheBus · 02/04/2015 21:26

I'm up for a challenge Dakota Grin

DakotaFanny · 02/04/2015 21:58

I I've found a "burn 100 calories right now"thing, which looks pretty easy and takes 9 (!) minutes....anyone interested?

Surely we can commit to 9 minutes a day for 30 days?? 4 1/2 hours in a month....3000 calories burned...whaaat?? not even a pound of weight lost....That seems a rubbish payback.

Pass me the egg bus

Runnaway · 03/04/2015 08:09

Thanks katie
Am going away for a few days but the plan is to do lots of walking.......must just avoid the cafes at the end of them!!! Or get soup!!!
