Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

Morning all, ouch ouch, i think i may have pulled something in my shoulder. So no gym for me but since i have already paid for creche i was thinking of dropping off the boy and having a gentle swim, a wallow in the hot tub and then i might nip to the cafe and drink coffee and read the paper - bliss.

Its our last night of students tonight and then the great big packing mission starts for our holiday. Yay.

Mac how was the hen do?

Off for a BPC and then get my stuff together.

Good luck everyone sbc.

LetMeBeLight · 29/04/2015 11:25

Wow, blessed I am very, very impressed with the circuits and how organised you sound!

Definitely take it easy with the hot tub/coffee - rest is important too and it'd be a shame to waste that creche fee!

I'm feeling a bit better today thankfully, still have hayfever, but hopefully the fact it's currently pissing it down will lessen those soon.

Just discovered I have to get up approx 4.30am tomorrow to be able to make a 6am work meeting (very unique circumstances thankfully). Oh and we're out tonight in Regents Park for a meal with friends - I'll be lucky if I make it home much before midnight. Still, will make it easy not to drink!!

Have to get a lengthy legal document finished by tomorrow as well which I haven't even started yet, waaaah!

blessedenough · 29/04/2015 13:26

Just back from gym - had a quick swim - 20 mins max! then wallowed in hot tub and sat and read the paper in cafe until i felt guilty and collected the boy early. He was so pleased to see me (read hungry!) that he crawled over and started yelling at me to pick him up - he is only 13 mo. I do feel better as do my poor muscles.

Letme - have fun out tonight - you will need the weekend to recover by the sounds of it, loads of work, early starts and going out. Hope the hay fever eases up. Good luck with all the work.

Macloveswill · 29/04/2015 21:46

Hi all, sorry I've been a bit AWOL for the last few days, I've not been online. Mainly due to a family friend being terribly ill after an op and we thought we might lose him, but he's started to pull through now thank goodness!

Sounds like the old wine has been scuppering all of our progress Shock but it feels soooo gooood! I've not lost any more, but on the hen night I must've drank enough calories to last me at least a week....eek!! It was fantastic though (I did have to leave a little earlier than planned due to distinct wobbliness Blush)

Good news about DD's school....we were offered a place at the best primary in our area, so really delighted. It means leaving her fab infants school 6 weeks from the end of Y1 instead of at the end of Y2, which I'm sad about, but moving means she's sorted at a great school until she's 11 now and if we left it to fate for next year when everyone else will be applying, she almost certainly wouldn't have got in.

I have my birthday celebrations this Sunday, so still can't reduce my vino intake! We're due to have a house and garden full of people, so trying to get the house looking its best and praying for decent weather. Oh and I'm out on Fri night too with some old pals celebrating mine and one of their birthdays. Lots of wine is inevitable I'm afraid.

Amazing on the exercise Blessed and fantastic news on the house sale. You see, all that cleaning was worth it Wink

My exercise has been very hit and miss this week. One BB class, one swim, one walk....really need to do better, but after the weekend surely?!Grin

I'm off for an Ayurvedic massage tomorrow. Meant to be great for digestive problems (my constipation still occurs too regularly for my liking) and getting a sluggish lymphatic system going. Apparently it's 90 mins consultation (sounds a lot?) followed by 90 mins treatment, so looking forward to finding out what it actually entails! A bit of relaxation should do me good.

What's everyone up to this bank holiday weekend?

Good to see you on here again Mac and great news about the school.

I'm currently mainlining coffee, didn't get in til gone 1am last night - issues with the trains - typical! I'm tempted to curl about under my desk for a snooze. I'm aiming for an early finish as soon as I get the most important bits done (so it would help if I got off here!)

I'm not expecting great things today, probably a dog walk later but certainly no shredding. I'm aiming to be reasonably good over the weekend and pick up properly (with shredding!!) next week.

On the plus side, I didn't drink at all last night and am motivated to keep up a dry spell until the bank holiday weekend at the end of the month.

Bank Holiday weekend for me will probably be a quiet one. Catching up on house jobs, sorting out the garden, wedding planning etc. And if I'm not drinking, I actually have a chance of getting it all done! OH and I will probably go out for a meal/have people over at some point, but it'll be very low key. I must be terribly middle aged as I'm looking forward to it!

blessedenough · 30/04/2015 08:10

Mac so sorry to hear about your friend, i hope they are on the mend and get better son.

Fab news about your daughters school.

Def need to knock the wine on the head but i have a holiday next week so unlikley. Have a fab birthday -wine will def be needed to celebrate. There is 500kcals in 2 glasses of red apparently, disgraceful!! That might explain a few things in regards to my weightloss or lack of!!

Garden party sounds great for your birthday - good luck with all the gardening. I will keep everything crossed for nice weather for you. You will have to practice your gracious face for when you get all your "have you lost weight" and" you look so slim" comments.

So glad the house has sold mainly because i can step down the housework a notch or two! I just need the people who own the house we love to pull their finger out and find a sodding house and offer a realistic price! They keep offering silly money and then not getting it yet expect the full asking price and a bit for theirs.

I have been inspired by everyones exercise but my word i can feel it, i am so unfit, everything aches esp in my arms so i am expecting michelle obama arms any day now!!

The massage sounds amazing, report back and let us know if its as great as it sounds.

This bank holiday i shall be mostly packing for butlins, we head off monday for 4 nights, the kids are going to love it. My poor hubby has worked abroad for 3 weeks out of the last 7 so he is looking forwards to spending some time with the kids, having a break and catching up on some sleep -not sure how relaxing it will be mind!!

I am still an odd size and whilst the scales arent really moving my shape is changing, i am getting my waist back. The worst bit is my massive spare tyres around my tummy have deflated somewhat ( which is good) but during circuits i was jumping up and down and i could feel it wobbling really badly as its not firm any more and i def have a c sec overhang - uurrggh. Hoping that bit goes next as its really not attractive -i need some pull in pants as i can tuck my tummy into my pants now.

With that in mind, off for a BPC and a pint of water.

SBC x

blessedenough · 30/04/2015 08:16

Morning Letme - sending your best wishes for getting through the day. Good luck with getting everything finished quickly. Well done for avoiding the booze and good luck for a dry May, i think i will have to join you on that one as summer is coming.

blessedenough · 30/04/2015 20:09

So bought some pull in pants and what a difference they make, def give me a smoother silhouette. Have been fasting again today but it was a struggle, had to bite my tongue with the kids, we went to town - big mistake. Tired children, short tempered mummy and annoying pedestrians - aarrghh.

Bought some more gym gear in a size 16 -since i wear that a lot at the moment and my 18s keep working there way down when running and its hard to run with one hand holding up your waist band! Will have to take back one of the tops as the 14-16 is too skin tight but i blame primark and their weird sizes not my big belly.

I had 2 BPCs by 11am and then nothing until dinner which was chicken wings and salad - possibly my fav dinner.

No exercise today but tomorrow i am running again, i want to see if i can beat my max time of 5 mins.

Only 4 more sleeps until our holiday -yay

Macloveswill · 30/04/2015 22:18

Thanks for your kind words about my friend, he's made even more improvement today, so we're all very relieved and very grateful!

Well Letme....you know you've got your priorities all wrong when getting in at 1am isn't down to a raging night out! Wink hope the day didn't drag too much. And enjoy your nice quiet weekend....how are the wedding plans coming along?

Yes Blessed, definitely need to practice my 'who me?' face for the compliments on Sunday...haha! Good to hear you've discovered Bridget Jones pants, I've been known to wear those ones that come right up to my bra when wearing posh frock! Your holiday sounds like fun, your children will be in heaven!

The Ayurvedic massage was amazing!! I came out this afternoon floating on a cloud. The consultation lasted 2 hours (!) well I do talk a lot Smile and really went through all aspects of my health, weightloss goals and visualisation techniques for improving the overall direction in my life. Basically a prescription for positive thinking. All done in a very non-fluffy way. I was impressed. Then followed a lovely, deep massage with herb oil, followed by a steam tunnel treatment (tent tube placed over me on the massage bed with my head sticking out the top and filled with steam). They also sent me home with a herbal tea that's meant to improve my metabolism (but tastes like sh*t!) We'll see! I've booked again for about 5 weeks time, even if all that it does is help with relaxation, it would be worth it. I've had that lovely glow for the rest of the day...my walking buddy said you look like you've either had a great massage or fantastic sex Blush unfortunately it was only the former!

OP posts:
Macloveswill · 01/05/2015 07:30

Tiny weightloss this morning of 0.4lbs.....better than nothing I suppose, but still 0.9lb to get into the fabulous fifteens. Maybe the massage and shitty tea are working their magic Wink

So I am now 16st 0.9 lbs. I measured again and have lost another 1/2 an inch each off my waist, hips and arms in the fortnight since I last measured, which is encouraging despite my sluggish weightloss.

Happy Friday everyone!!

blessedenough · 01/05/2015 08:26

Mac - massage sounds lush and maybe all the visualisation stuff works i am sceptical so let us know if it works for you - its worth a shot. I am not really a fan of body massages but would walk over hot coals for a foot massage - might be a good idea for a treat after my 5k or hitting a weight loss goal.

Fingers cross for a whoosh - the 15s are tantalisingly close and half an inch loss is amazing in 2 weeks.

I had more wine last night, so i tipped the last glass in the bottle away - i cannot be trusted! However lovely students bought us champagne as a gift and thats low carb, so that will be coming on holiday with us!

I bought some bargain size 16 dresses on ebay and they mostly fit -yay but they are all so bloody low cut. Back in the day i was very proud of my cleavage and often had it on show but now i am older it just feels inappropriate - even hubby raised an eyebrow! They are too tight to put a stitch in - so i need weight loss on my boobs next - please whoosh fairy.

I was reading about dairy and LC-ing, butter and cream are supposed to be best for the diet. So i will try and cut down on cheese, i dont eat much yoghurt and no milk, i cant give it all up.

Any suggestions for a nice outfit for a murder mystery dinner at a golf club gratefully accepted, i just feel a bit fat still. I bought some patterned trousers and i liked them but hubby just said not yet and i hate to admit it but he was right! Would love a personal stylist, i am rubbish at putting outfits together and since having kids i have no clue about fashion anymore.

SBC everyone

ProfYaffle · 01/05/2015 08:30

Blessed - have a look at Genie Milana Bra, I've got those for wearing under dresses that are too low cut.

ProfYaffle · 01/05/2015 09:24

I'm back after the school run to post properly!

Glad your friend is improving Mac - best wishes for his continued recovery.

I tried my size 16 jeans on yesterday and they fit! Still a bit snug for my liking though (even though my 18's are literally falling off Confused) they're still at the 'wouldn't go for dinner out wearing these' stage. I'm considering trawling through my wardrobe trying on all the stuff I haven't worn for ages. I've been putting it off because, like weighing, it scares me for some irrational reason.

Aside from weight loss issues, this week we've been mainly excited because me and my Dad did some dna ancestry testing. It turns out that Dad is, in fact, my Dad which is a relief! Grin Not only that but he's 10% viking! So now I'm reading up all about Norse culture seeing as it's in my blood Wink

LetMeBeLight · 01/05/2015 12:55

That massage sounds amazing! Sounds like everyone is doing well at the moment - jealous of those of you making it into the size 16s! (I know my time will come).

Am determined to stay booze free this weekend, which will hopefully make it easier to make good food choices.

Re your outfit mrs - you need to play to your strengths. My legs are ok as is my decolletage. So I would go for black skinny jeans, heels (if my rubbish ankle would allow) and a loose fitting smart top (colour like bright blue) showing my collar bone area (but not boobs), a fitted black blazer and jazz it up a bit with some jewelry.

Possibly a bit boring, but dresses don't seem to suit my body shape (well I'm yet to find one that does). So, depends what bits you're happy to show off and which bits you want to skim over.

LetMeBeLight · 04/05/2015 13:44

Yawn! Trying to motivate myself to get off to sofa and back on to the housework.

Managed to stay dry, some food choices could have been better though. Looking forward (in a weird way) to being stricter on food and exercise from tomorrow.

Hope you're all enjoying the bank holiday!

ProfYaffle · 04/05/2015 14:14

I'm the opposite, food choices fine but still consuming wine! We decided to go the park for a picnic lunch today. Called at Morrisons to grab some food and it turned out to be a great choice for this woe. Salad bar combined with the hot food deli type area which had loads of hot ribs, chicken etc They even had warmed pork crackling - will definitely be doing that again.

LetMeBeLight · 04/05/2015 15:13

That sounds yum and perfect for a low carber. What helps me cut out the wine is having a good alternative - I love tonic water bt don't often have it, so that with ice and a slice instead of wine means I don't feel I'm missing out.

Just having a quick coffee between rooms, honest guv!

Macloveswill · 05/05/2015 19:56

Hi all, hope you all had good long weekends. Birthday celebrations at the weekend and now TOTM means I haven't lost any more weight, but feeling good that we're now over the 4 month mark and still going strong. That's got to be a good thing hasn't it?!

I did get a few compliments on the weightloss, so something's got to be working!

DH bought me an outfit for a wedding on the 23rd that looks good on, but it has a side zip that's about an inch too tight to fasten. So I have two and a half weeks to get into it properly. I'd better try and cut down on the dairy a bit I think (she says after scoffing strawbs and extra thick double cream for pud Smile).

SBC!

ProfYaffle · 06/05/2015 07:02

I've not lost this week either, though I think it's the Old Golden Hen to blame so can't complain.

We saw some friends on Monday and dh (bless him) did a massive announcement about my low carb woe (We were having fish and chips, I was the only one not eating) Cue about a dozen sceptical faces looking at me . Although I've lost 2.5 stone now, I still don't actually look much different. I think that's because I'm mostly wearing the same clothes because I live in fairly forgiving leggings and tunic combos. So I could see people thinking "????" though one lovely friend rushed to my aid and said she thought I'd lost weight. Then dh blundered on with "And she doesn't even feel hungry any more!" which prompted even more Confused faces. So at that point I had to do a tinkly laugh and go "Oh, you're all looking sceptical at that!" while they made polite noises.

God I'm going hot even thinking about it, good job the wine was flowing (let's not talk about the Aspall's though)

Macloveswill · 06/05/2015 12:11

Ah yes Prof, I'm familiar with the old sceptical faces. Like you, I'd really rather not discuss it, but sometimes you can't get away with not saying anything can you?! Why do people always have an opinion when it comes to diets...grr?! I just quietly think "I'll bloody PROVE that it works, just watch me!", but actually say very little as I hate my weight becoming the spectacle that people think it's ok to pass judgement on. I'm sure you must look slimmer after 2.5 stone off though Prof, but you're right, it's definitely more noticeable in more fitted clothes. You'll just have to knock 'em dead in some new fitted outfits when you've lost a bit more and smugly sit there and wait for them to admit their scepticism was completely unfounded! Grin

I've already got well-meaning friends (who've never weighed more then 11 stones in their lives) telling me no way do I have another nearly six stones to lose and I should lose another stone or two and then stop. It makes me want to scream like a petulant teenager "like yeah I'm sure you'd feel great weighing 14 or 15 stones, real tip top condition, I'll definitely stop there....not!!!"
I experienced this last time I lost a lot of weight too. For many different reasons not everyone around you will be comfortable with it. Especially when it's using a WOE that they don't fully understand.

Well I'm just back from the gym. I'm really enjoying my body balance classes now and the swim afterwards. Squeezed in a quick coffee with a school mum I bumped into too. I know twice a week isn't really enough, but I am sticking with it and I'm noticing my suppleness and strength improving slowly. I do fancy doing the shred with you lot soon though, something a bit more intense would do me good I think, but I am still a bit mahoosive to be star- jumping about the place. The underpinning on the house may need redoing Smile

Onwards and very definitely downwards! #SBC!

LetMeBeLight · 06/05/2015 12:16

Oh bless your DH prof, I bet he thought he was being ever so helpful, but I can imagine it being slightly cringey for you.

Going luck with the zip Mac, I bet you'll breeze it in 2 & a half weeks, especially as you're probably a bit bloated at the moment because of TOTM.

I went for an m&s stick in the oven jobby for dinner last night as the hob ignition wall socket gave me a couple of electric shocks on Monday while cleaning, so wanted to have it checked by an electrician before using the hob (been checked, all safe).

Might go for spag bol tonight (spaghetti for OH, veg for me).

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Macloveswill · 06/05/2015 13:34

Thanks Letme, hoping you're right and the zip will be a breeze Grin

I fancy spag bol tonight too, but sadly we are still ploughing through leftover burgers, sausages and kebabs that didn't manage to get BBQd at the weekend (I always buy way too much!). I'm very bored of them now.

Exercise always seems to make me starving, esp swimming. I need a snack now or I'll spend the rest of the day thinking about food!

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 06/05/2015 13:39

To be fair, our friends weren't openly sceptical or unsupportive, just obviously bewildered, didn't think I look like I've lost weight and didn't understand the woe at all. We had the well worn "What's wrong with fruit?" conversation I seem to have twelvety million times since January.

One couple, the dh is type 2 diabetic (not overweight though) and has been struggling to get his blood sugar under control. He's low carbing to see if it helps but this just translates as cutting out bread, he's still eating pasta, rice etc and wondering why it's not helping. His wife just looked at me like this Confused the whole time I was trying to explain my woe.

Had a few "But what do you eat?" comments too. When I mentioned stir fried greens as a pasta alternative with bolognese I just got lots more Confused Confused "Greens??" Confused faces.

Weird how it's just so second nature to our household now, it's odd to remember that there are people out there who don't understand it at all.

Macloveswill · 06/05/2015 13:47

Yes I agree Prof, general bewilderment is how most people view this WOE. My aunt was a bit like that. We started 'dieting' at the same time. Mine LC and hers low fat and low sugar. In Jan she lost quite a bit of weight, in feb stayed about the same, then put the lot back on on March. When she saw that I'd not only lost so much, but was still going, she's decided to give LC a go and loves it Grin

ProfYaffle · 06/05/2015 13:52

Yay! Another recruit! We'll win them over, one dieter at a time .....
