Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

When I was 12 stone 8 I was easily a size 14. It is funny how we are all different. I am 5'7" so more of me to spread the fat over!

I have been good today - long, good paced dog walk first thing, ran a few errands, into the office and just got back from walking to the supermarket where I bought vegetable soup for lunch and risotto stuff for dinner (first time I have bothered to get lunch in about 2 weeksBlush

Organisation!

I meant to ask you all, how do you fit in exercise classes/dvds/swimming in with work/childcare? - Basically the kind of 'stand alone' exercise that can't be incorporated into daily life, like stairs instead of lift, walk/bike instead of car etc.

Are you resigned to doing it at the crack of dawn or in the evening? Just want to make sure I'm not missing a trick here!

ProfYaffle · 22/04/2015 14:25

Well, I measured myself properly after this thread, I was right I am 5' 3"!

Re fitting exercise in, I'm a sahm and do my kettlebell DVDs while the kids are at school though sometimes I do it at the weekend when dh is around. It's the flexibility to do it when it suits me that's kept me at it really.

ProfYaffle · 22/04/2015 14:28

Oh, also meant to say, has anyone else found their sensitivity to sweetener massively increased on this woe? Before I went on this plan I had a major diet coke habit but I stopped just before Xmas. Never had any tummy issues with it at all though.

Now, I find that some Atkins endulge bars are awful for giving me stomach cramps all day. I've just drunk my first Diet Coke since Xmas and, dear God! I'll spare you all the details but I won't be having any more in a hurry!

blessedenough · 22/04/2015 18:08

My gym has a creche and i put my two in there once a week but it costs a tenner a time! I have recently created a new plan and its mostly evenings but with me training and hubby training it means that we will never see each other. I did used to do the couch to 5k a 6.30 am but i have had another child since then and i cant give up 30 mins extra sleep!

I dont have the willpower to do DVDs at home unfortunately but my gym has brought out a new timetable and they have a kettlebells class at a time i can make so i am really keen to try it out.

Not had an issue with sweeteners but i dont tend to have them very often, the odd d-coke in a bacardi but thats a rare treat.

LetMeBeLight · 23/04/2015 12:39

Jeez that works out to be an expensive gym session blessed. But it goes to show your determination - working out is important to you so you're prepared to spend over and above the cost of the class etc.

I think I need to take a similar view. Be prepared to lose money from leaving work early to make more time for exercising.

Can't think of any sweetener issues here either. But I can't think of what I'd eat/drink that has them. I'm not really a fan of sweet things in general.

I have developed an intolerance to prosecco and cava which I'm gutted about! Assume that doesn't have sweeteners, but maybe it does? I can still drink champagne that christ - I would be devastated if I couldn't have any fizz at all!

blessedenough · 23/04/2015 13:31

Oh yea creche makes the gym expensive and i feel guilty putting them in as i am supposed to stay at home with them as i dont work - cant win really. Most of sessions are now evenings but that means not seeing my hubby - so that might get rethought if it doesnt work. Expense vs hubby uumm.

Hubby does say if i dont look after myself than i cant look after everyone else - i have had some bad back issues and loosing weight and exercise def improve it, i cant go back to being bed ridden and unable to stand.

Just back from my first proper session in the gym, i did my little weights circuit - when you have to move the weight thing from like 75kg to my poxy 10kg i realise how far i have to go!! My arms are killing me now. I did have a little swim as well but i got bored after about 10 laps so got out. I feel great but hungry!

I am training for a 5k and managed to run for 2.30min which is admittedly is rubbish but double the time i last managed! I have almost 100 days to increase that to 30 mins.

It must be very decadent to only drink champers, i do love a glass of cold fizz.

I have started 5:2 again, it works really well with LC and massively increased my weight loss last time around but today is the first fast so struggling a bit.

I jumped on the scales at the gym and they said i was 14st lying wotsits! Then i decided that the important bit was where they finish not start - did kind of ruin my smug exercise buzz however!

Off to drink more water.

LetMeBeLight · 23/04/2015 14:04

I didn't mean anything negative by you spending money on the creche - quite the opposite in fact! I think it's great you make the effort/spend the money to enable you to go, as you're clearly making exercise a priority.

I think my problem is I don't make it enough of a priority, there's always something to be done in the house, or a bit of extra work in the office etc etc, When I just need to be a bit more disciplined and think exercise is important to me too, so I need to make time for it.

I quite agree with your hubby - you do need to look after yourself. I imagine your little 'uns take a lot of energy, and the fitter you are, the more they will reap the benefits.

Sounds like you've had a great session in the gym. I'm sure I only did 5kg dumbbells when I was at the peak of fitness so I'm really impressed with 10kg!

And re the scales, I think to be accurate on recording losses you have to be pretty strict on same scales, same time of day, wearing same clothes etc etc. Scales can vary massively and that's not even taking account how our weight can vary over the course of the day with water retention etc.

blessedenough · 23/04/2015 14:39

No offence taken, i knew what you meant. On the biggest loser (love that programme) the dr said if you had chemo you wouldnt begrudge taking so many hrs a week out for treatment to improve your health and i guess its the same with weight.

After giving up fags (i vape now) the best thing i can do for my long term health is to loose the weight. I had gestational diabetes so i am at a higher risk of developing it later on.
It is a bit depressing that when i first started watching that programme my weight was a million miles away from the contestants weight and now its much closer!

I feel much better for exercising, hubby started first and kept on at me to do something and i am glad i listened. Its hard to make time but i am glad i do, housework etc is still there when you get back! I also find the more i actually do the more i want to do and it makes me more organised and aware of what time i do have - MN-ing aside! this is my down time. Hoover is giving me the use me look however!

Thats what i was telling myself - i am keen to see what i can accomplish in the next 100 days, so i will use their scales and use that as my starting point - but in my head i am still 13st 8lbs as i like that figure better!! I took some photos in my gym clothes today so i have a record to compare it against.

Cant wait for today to be over, fasting is great when you get in the swing of it but first couple of times are hard! woe is me!

Macloveswill · 23/04/2015 17:39

Ooh lots to catch up on the thread as has a busy couple of days.

Well done on the exercise Blessed! And for going in the scary bit at the gym Wink it's a pain having to pay at the crèche, but needs must eh?!

I work from home, so manage to fit in exercise when I have the time, generally straight after the school run. I'm 5'7" and around a size 18 in the generous shops (monsoon, next) but prob still a size 20 in most shops. But yes it helps being taller to distribute the lard a bit! I was in a size 16 at about 15st last time I lost the weight....size 14 at just under 13 stone and getting into a 12 once I was into the 11s.

Having a bit of a nightmare over school admissions and have another 10 days to wait to hear if DD got in our fave school (moving a year early to try to beat the rush next year after her last year at infants school. Apparently they've suddenly had lots of applications and we don't come up well with any of the criteria. So finding it all a bit stressful. Please keep everything crossed for me Thanks

Off out for my walk in a bit, only the second this week, but I did the gym class and my swim on my usual tues and weds this week. And I've continued to walk DD to school.

Expecting DH and DD back from swimming, so better get some dinner on.

Onwards and downwards everyone! SBC!

How are we all doing today?

I for one am so glad it's Friday - it's felt like a very long week! Still, just have to get next week out the way, then we have another bank holiday! Can you tell I'm ready for a holiday? Other half and I aren't very good at getting away as we're both self employed, so don't get set leave allowances or anything, which means we are prone to just ploughing on with it.

Mac, I think we're similar on what sort of weight we are as we drop down the sizes, although you're currently ahead of me as I am still a firm 20. Hoping to be a easy 18/some 16s by the time summer hits.

I wish you all the best with the school place. I know several people who've had issues, it seems like a bloody nightmare.

Very mixed bag from me last night - I SHREDDED!!!!!!! (boy was I stiff on the dog walk this morning). But then, for reasons not quite known, bought and ate a big bag of crisps (not one of the huge ones but nearly 500 cals worth still). I did have a smaller dinner to compensate, but I'm still a bit annoyed with myself. Never mind eh, onwards and downwards, we can't expect to be perfect all the time.

Macloveswill · 24/04/2015 14:14

Hey Letme...I take my hat off to ypu for doing the shred!! Amazing, well done! Sod the crisps after that sort of workout...you probably burned a gazillion calories with all those starjumps Grin I'm sure we'll easily be in a 16 by the summer!

I have a hip hop dance class tomorrow as part of a hen day/night, so not bad on a weekend. But then it's followed cocktail making class, so I may partake in one or three Smile then out into town and who knows what else. Should be fun, but may not be great for the diet!

Have a brilliant weekend everyone!

blessedenough · 24/04/2015 15:29

Mac - crossing everything for you on the school front - we are just having to think about this too - it has snuck up on us so quickly, my DD still feels like a baby and too young.

Wow well done LET - very impressed, i shamefully still havent actually done shred yet. Was it awful??? I am scared of actually starting it.

Hubby and i had a free afternoon so went for lunch and for a 4 mile walk - my gym session has caught up with me and feeling a bit sore today but atleast that means its working! I think i made good choices, tomato and mozzarella salad followed by the worlds largest bacon and avocado salad - i only managed half of it and coffee and cream for afters. I dont think i want any dinner tonight!!

First fast day EVENTUALLY ended yesterday but it was tough. I am sure it will get easier, i tried and failed at 5:2 a while ago but the appetite suppression bit of LC makes it much easier.

10 days and counting to our holiday - butlins yay, the kids are going to love it, i spent many a happy family holiday there with my gran when i was younger.

LET - thats a good attitude with the crisps - i tend to say f-it i have ruined everything so i may as well eat rubbish for days if not weeks! sigh.

Have a fab weekend everyone. Hen do sounds amazing, have a wicked time MAC. SBC.

blessedenough · 25/04/2015 18:39

Today has been good, we had bacon and cheese with mayo and BPC for breakfast - hubby has decided to do the diet properly. Then a bit of snack of cheese and pepperoni with mayo - so far too much processed meat and cheese!

Dinner tonight will be gok wans ginger crispy beef with cauli rice - its lovely and i always chuck in lightly cooked broccoli - it is coated in cornflour prior to frying but i figure its only a few carbs worth.

In other news i ran for 5 mins, then i had a little walk and ran for another 5 mins - i am very impressed with myself but boy am i going to ache tom!!

I have parents over for lunch tomorrow so will do a low carb roast dinner - planning on roast pork with loads of crackling, broccoli and cauli cheese and swede mash and possible purple sprouting broccoli - so broccoli overload! and i hate to think how many points it is on WW (they are die hard WW-ers)!!

We also sold our house today!! So its been quite a weekend and we will be having a glass of wine tonight!

ProfYaffle · 27/04/2015 10:54

I've just looked up the ginger beef, it looks lovely. I've got a few steaks in the freezer so may try that later this week.

Had a good weekend foodwise but quite a lot of wine again. It seems to have finally caught up with me as I've gained a pound this week. Though (apols if tmi) I'm ovulating at the moment and some months it can get quite sore, my abdomen feels a bit bloated and tender so that may have something to do with it too. (excuses, excuses!)

Can't complain though seeing as I've indulged these past few weeks. Hitting the kettlebells and rooibos hard this week Grin

LetMeBeLight · 27/04/2015 11:14

Morning all.

Hope you all had good weekends. I am really struggling this morning which I suspect is the product of too much wine over the weekend - just feeling a bit hungover and tired.

Food wise I was mostly good. Had a bit too much yesterday (roast dinner), but it's a real rarity for me to have a Sunday dinner at home and I love roasts, even enjoy cooking them! So I was going to have what I wanted and bloody well enjoy it!

I did go on a walk with OH which was about 5 miles so hopefully offset the damage of the big portion of roast dinner!

I have loads to do at the moment - home and work - and I just really cannot be bothered. I definitely will not be shredding tonight!! Ah well, hopefully an early night tonight will make for a more productive day tomorrow....

LetMeBeLight · 27/04/2015 11:25

I think I've also gained Prof. Weighed this morning and it said I was 2lbs up, but I had just had a big mug of coffee, so I'm taking it as a false reading!!

I'll be good today and weigh first thing tomorrow morning and hope for a better result.

I think I really need to lay off the wine for a while. If I stopped after one glass, I'd have no issue with it, but I'm fed up of the after effects and it really can't be helping on weight loss.

I did dry January and didn't find it too difficult, so I might see how I get on with a dry May.

LetMeBeLight · 27/04/2015 11:26

I meant to add my congratulations to blessed on the amazing progress on running and the house sale.

blessedenough · 27/04/2015 11:34

Morning all, i am also suffering from too much wine this weekend - just because red is low carb doesnt make it right - ooppss. The worst bit was the cheesy onion rings i ate - so hungry today. I am supposed to be fasting today but really cant be bothered.

I have already walked 4 miles and i intend to walk to collect my DD from nursery so that will be another 3 miles.

Roast dinner went down well and i managed to skip the roasties.

Prof - My hormones make me hang on to weight/water and i always notice a whoosh after totm, i think hormones have loads to answer for! Goodluck with the kettlebells.

I am much more hungry at the mo but i think its all the extra exercise, i have doubled my running time to a grand total of 5mins!! But i was just so hungry this weekend, i do wonder if when i am keto adapted again i will find this less of an issue - hope so!

My weight has been up and down but no real downwards loss since March as i have been messing about - i need to start doing this properly and stop sabotaging myself, that means no wine, not too much dairy and portion control - arrgghh - still easier than WW though!

Letme - have a good nights sleep, the world always looks better after a decent kip. Well done on all the walking.

Mac - how was the hen do? Sounded fab.

LetMeBeLight · 27/04/2015 12:10

Wow - 7 miles walking is/will be amazing.

I'm feeling quite stiff today just from the 5 miler yesterday, even though I normally walk 4 miles.

I am also extra hungry today, very tempted by a chicken baguette for lunch. Of course, I should walk to sainsburys and get some soup, but will I???

blessedenough · 27/04/2015 14:20

Prob too late now Letme but step away from the baguette, have chicken salad instead!!

I wormed out of my walk to nursery but in my defence my boy was having a mammoth sleep and there wasnt time to get there by the time he woke up. I am stiff from all my exercise, my poor little legs dont know what has hit them!

Need to eat more but i just want carby rubbish, i think i might have to have a green smoothie as its nice and easy and quick.

Just back from the supermarket with both LOs in tow - NEVER AGAIN! They were taking it in turns to play up.

Housework and water beckoning!

LetMeBeLight · 27/04/2015 14:45

I think it's probably a good thing you couldn't do the nursery walk - it's always important to give your muscles a chance to repair. It's great to be doing a lot of exercise, but equally you don't want to over do it and end up being not able to exercise at all.

I managed to avoid the baguette, but didn't bother going to the shops either so haven't had anything.

I don't envy you with two little ones at the supermarket, I find it bad enough just going with OH!!

I'm starting to wonder if there's any point me staying in the office this afternoon, I've done so little work!

blessedenough · 28/04/2015 08:22

Letme - i think you are right, i have a long way to go yet until my run and a lot of training to do and i dont want to injure myself.

I weighed this morning and i havent lost a lb. I think the problem is dairy, i have had a few glasses of red wine, a few handful of nuts and quite a few coffees with cream and nibbles of cheese. So i am going to have a go at cutting out the above. I am the same weight as i was mid march. Also first british strawberries are in the shop and i have had those virtually every night for pudding.

I think its called carb creep and its caught up with me! I need to be strict! This seems to only work when i am very strict.

Today i will have my BPC, lunch will be a green smoothie and dinner (after circuits) will be stir fried beef with spicy cauli rice.

Arrggh i am losing my motivation, i need a massive kick up the bum.

ProfYaffle · 28/04/2015 12:02

It does sound a bit carb creepy Blessed, it's easy for all those little transgressions to add up. At least you're aware of it though so you can do something about it.

I weighed myself again today as my ovulation pain suddenly vanished and I feel fine again - 2lbs lighter than yesterday so 1lb down overall. I'll happily take that thank you very much!

LetMeBeLight · 28/04/2015 12:12

Afternoon all. I think the reason I had a feeling of malaise yesterday was a bit more than just too much wine (not even that much by my standard!) as I still feel grotty today.

Think I will still lay off the booze for a while though as it can only do me good.

I think I also need a kick up the bum blessed, give me a couple of days to get over this lurg then we can harass each other into shredding regularly!!

Congrats on the loss Prof - reassuring to hear that if you stick to it properly, the losses continue.

blessedenough · 28/04/2015 21:40

Oh my word i am going to ache tomorrow - just back from the worlds most evil circuits class! Loved it however! Had to smile as my size 18 gym trousers kept threatening to fall down every time i jumped up and down - small victories. I honestly didnt know it was possible to actually go as red as a beetroot but it is, i was glowing!

Had a great dinner of spicy stirfried rice and steak.

Well done prof on the weightloss.

Letme - alcohol affects me really strongly when i am low carbing so i am def knocking the wine on the head, for a bit but saying that i am on my hols next week!

I am determined to keep on the diet as much as poss whilst away, so will be prepping some low carb food to take with me. Also taking my trainers and PLAN on doing some running - just need to get my head in the game again now.

Earlier i had an additional BPC at 4pm - it kept me going through circuits and stopped me mooching through the kitchen eating cheese, so might try upping my fat and see if that helps.
