Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

ProfYaffle · 08/04/2015 07:08

Well it does seem to be essential to weight loss Grin

ProfYaffle · 08/04/2015 07:31

Just remembered, after telling dh I'd lost the weight this week his reaction was to soothingly say "Well, I'm sure you won't lose next week" in sympathetic tones Confused Cheers dh!

Macloveswill · 08/04/2015 08:46

Haha....a bit like my DH, as subtle as a brick Grin

TOM started for me, so I can prob wave goodbye to losing anything this week, but feeling positive.

Just ordered that eat, nourish, glow (or something like that?) book that everyone seems to be talking about after Sam Smith went from pig to twig using the diet. Author is Amelia something. I don't really want to change my diet much, just hoping for some recipe inspiration. I'll let you know if it's any good.

Have a day trying to get house ship shape after doing a million wash loads yesterday. The place is a tip and we have visitors tomorrow. Luckily DD has a ballet workshop, so child free until this afternoon's performance.

Have a good day all! SBC!!!

Morning all.

Well done Mac and Prof on your losses! Excellent news that you can still both indulge a bit with booze etc and still have a loss.
We were supposed to have a quiet Easter, and catch up on lots of jobs in the house/garden, but ended up having everyone over to us, which was nice, but fairly full on. Work is still incredibly busy, so feeling a bit frazzled and like I haven't had the break I needed. Ah well.

Need to get back into a routine and get back on track with eating/exercise (not been awful but haven't been great). Will need to weigh tomorrow and start afresh. I've not weighed in a while, but will be astonished if I've lost any more, think the best I can hope for is maintaining (with further loss for here on in).

Have to leave for a meeting shortly where they will be serving sandwiches, hmmm!

Macloveswill · 08/04/2015 13:23

Thanks Letme. I'm sure you'll be back on track in no time. Sounds like you need to plan a quiet weekend sometime soon for some real relaxing! Bloody irritating when the only food they serve is sandwiches at meetings isn't it?!! Buffet food generally is almost always super carby.

I have a girly catch up tonight...taking charcuterie nibbles to keep me on track and I think the prosecco may be flowing again Shock

LetMeBeLight · 08/04/2015 20:42

Managed to avoid the sandwiches at lunch, which was good, but it meant I didn't have anything which wasn't so good. 3 mile power walk with the dog this evening, plus at least 40 mins walk for the meeting. Other half cooked a 'spring one pot chicken' which was a chicken breast, peas, broccoli, green beens, asparagus and new pots in a watery pesto sauce - was lovely.

Knackered now, early night for me.

Hope you have a great evening mac

ProfYaffle · 09/04/2015 06:56

Is there something you could keep in your bag for emergencies like that letme? Eg, this weekend I'm taking a stash of Atkins bars and pepperamis with me to pil in case they don't feed me (Hmm) Not ideal but better than going hungry.

rumgy · 09/04/2015 14:26

Look !

ProfYaffle · 09/04/2015 15:10

And it's a doozy - love that.

Macloveswill · 09/04/2015 19:54

Great mantra Rumgy! Grin

Morning all.
I weighed yesterday morning and was exactly the same, which I'm taking as a victory after drinking far too much and not watching what I eat for at least a week.

Duck breast with stir fry veg for supper last night. Think I might do a rack of lamb tonight, with spinach, peas and maybe celeriac. Nom.

Dog walk this morning and lots of housework this evening, so that'll do me for exercise today.

My only pitfall over the last few days has been skipping lunch, prof is right, I need to put something in my bag for emergencies.

Hope all is going well for everyone else. SBC!

Still very busy at work, so best crack on. Have good days to all, and hope get to enjoy the sunshine!

ProfYaffle · 10/04/2015 12:39

Victory indeed Letme!

Macloveswill · 10/04/2015 13:39

That's great and probably says that you're eating reasonably well even when you take your eye off the ball for a few days. Learning to live life whilst on this WOE is half the battle I think. Well done!

Mani/pedi at the nail salon at the mo. I like my nails natural, but just chosen a gorgeous hot pink for my toes Smile then we're off to the park to enjoy the sunshine.

My new book has arrived, so will report back once I've taken a look.

I'm back from my weekend at the in laws. It all went surprisingly smoothly Shock Fil was very supportive, had researched it before I arrived and produced a little crib sheet for Mil listing what I can and can't eat (yes to 'meat', no to 'fishcakes') Mil I think struggled to get her head round it but I got the impression she'd been warned not to say anything. A few times she made a Confused face all big eyes and bitten lip. And the odd 'What's wrong with fruit?!' type comment slipped out but on the whole it was much, much better than I anticipated.

LetMeBeLight · 13/04/2015 13:01

Afternoon all.

Glad your weekend with the in laws went better than expected Prof, sounds like FIL had your corner! I guess it must be difficult to get your head round low carb for some people, certainly I still struggle with the concept of high fat sometimes, even though I know the science.

I had a reasonably good weekend food wise, and was also fairly active (doing jobs like painting the decking, gardening, cleaning the house etc etc - nothing fun unfortunately).

I think I've probably lost a bit more, the scales this morning said I was exactly the same as when I last weighed (Thursday?) but I've just started TOTM, so all bets are off with my weight for the next few days.

I can't really be bothered today, it's cold in the office and I want to go home and curl up on the sofa with a blanket, good film and a big plate of roast chicken dinner!! Waaah!

Macloveswill · 13/04/2015 20:25

Chuckling at your MIL Prof Grin but you survived and it'll be even easier next time when they can see how fabuloso you're looking!

Ooh I have days like that Letme....I dream about lolling on the sofa with a duvet and an old film and a big hot chocolate.

I nearly cracked with the old choc yesterday! I went out to celebrate a friend's birthday on Sat night and the champagne flowed a bit too freely. I was so fragile yesterday I considered eating copious amounts of DD's Easter eggs Hmm luckily I kept my resolve, but I was this close to just saying fuck it and scoffing the lot!

Weight appears to be at a standstill too, which is utterly frustrating. I'm just finishing TOTM, plus I have eaten too much dairy and too large portions (not forgetting the booze!) so better try to cut back a bit.

That Eat, Nourish, Glow book is quite good. Nothing really groundbreaking, just backing up the stuff we know already about cleaner eating. Some good staple recipes, but not many. All helps mentally for me, with some good ideas about simple stuff to make and how the author manages her life food-wise. So useful, but best to borrow rather than buy if you can.

It's end of the easter holidays and DD goes back to school tomorrow, so it will be nice to get some routine back into my life. First sesh back at the gym tomorrow and back to my walking in the evening.

Have a good week everyone.

Morning all.

Still feel rather meh today. My hayfever is bad at the moment and of course TOTM, so nothing bad enough to warrant time of work/day in bed, but just enough to make me feel grotty and like I can't be arsed.

Other half has a bad cold and even the dog is sick - was vomiting this morning, but still alert. So the two of them are at home today.

Added to that, I've had a horrendous month invoice wise (am self employed) - probably the worst in two years, which is particularly galling when I've been working so hard lately (it will pay off eventually but I might not see the fruits of my labour for 6 months or so).

Moan moan moan!

Ah, well I can at least have a good day with food. Hope you are all feeling slightly more chipper!

Macloveswill · 14/04/2015 20:29

Poor Letme....you're certainly going through it, hope you're feeling better soon!

I am reasonably chipper, but it was my first day back to the gym in nearly 3 weeks and I found it really hard. I did the body balance class and 30 lengths in the pool. Still no more weight loss though! Perhaps I've hit a bit of a plateau? Oh and not managed to organise myself to get back to walking yet either. Otherwise a good day....nice to get DD back to school so I can actually get some work done.

In a bid to up my veg intake, I bought a cheap spiraliser to try out courgette spaghetti. It was really nice with bolognese sprinkled with Parmesan for tonight's dinner.

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 15/04/2015 06:58

Mac - I've just bought a cheap julienne peeler to do that same thing. I made courgette 'spaghetti' a few days ago. How did you cook yours? I stir fried mine, it was nice but a bit watery on the plate.

Macloveswill · 15/04/2015 15:22

Yes, I fried mine too. I thought I'd used too much olive oil, as was a bit claggy, but maybe watery also. Tasted ok, but might try cooking differently next time. Maybe griddling without oil?

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 15/04/2015 16:07

I'm sure I read somewhere not to bother cooking courgette spaghetti, stirring it into the hot sauce should be enough. I may try that though it doesn't sound particularly appetising.

Macloveswill · 15/04/2015 18:02

Might be worth a try, but yes I wonder whether it would be very tasty.

I managed another body balance and swim today. I'm still yet to walk, though have texted my friend about walking tonight, but not heard back yet and not feeling motivated enough to get out there on my own tonight.

Just made a lovely chicken with creamy mushroom and garlic sauce with chargrilled courgettes (not spaghettied tonight).

ProfYaffle · 15/04/2015 18:20

It's such a lovely day here we decided to have a picnic tea on the park. I took a box of salad for the grown ups, box of kiddy friendly salad, numerous boxes of cooked meat/fish/cheese and some bread and butter. Everyone helped themselves to the bits they wanted and it worked really well for all of us.

One of the best things I've bought so far on this woe is a bag of sachets of full fat mayo. I took a fistful to the picnic today plus I always have a couple in my bag and they've been lifesavers when eating out, really brightening up otherwise dull undressed salads in pubs etc.

Body Balance and swim not to be sniffed at Mac - even without a walk!

Macloveswill · 16/04/2015 10:01

Ooh your picnic sounds lovely Prof! Good idea about the mayo too....I had a dull ham salad having lunch with aunts and uncles yesterday at local nature reserve. It was literally the only thing I could have chosen from their carb heavy menu! Wish I'd had mayo sachets with me then....I passed on their watery looking salad cream sachets and just ate it dry, but it was rank!

Yes any exercise is good exercise I suppose. Whilst the weather's been rubbish I got into the habit of driving DD to school. So I bit the bullet and started walking there again this morning. And arranged with my walking buddy that we'll start properly walking tonight. Back on it...yay!!

Still no movement on the scales...but surely they've got to start going down again soon?!!
