Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

I've been in that situation a few times and have been very grateful for my mayo sachets. I got mine off Amazon, they weren't expensive.

I'm sure you must be due a woosh soon, just keep at it.

blessedenough · 16/04/2015 18:23

Hi all.... i am back! Real life got in the way somewhat and a few days on and off of terrible carby eating. So drawing a massive line under the past few weeks and starting again. I havent weighed yet as it would just send me off of the edge with the f*ck it mentality.

I have been strict a couple of days now and def feeling better for it, weeing like a horse and tummy def flatter, so its all going in the right direction.

Weather here is blissful and had first day at beach so i am more motivated than ever and just over 2.5 weeks until my little family holiday.

My friend had the mad idea of making us all sign up for a race for life 5k charity muddy obstacle course and without thinking i said yes. However i tried running and managed a grand total of 1min 16 secs! So i have a long way to go and aprox 100 days to get there!! Wish me luck.

Just had a quick skim through the thread, everyone seems to be doing well - sbc indeed.

Macloveswill · 16/04/2015 22:56

Aww....welcome back Blessed xxx I've missed you! Well done on clambering back on the wagon. You can do this!

Yes Prof, surely I'm due a whoosh (love that wordGrin) soon?!!

I'm beginning to think my walking isn't meant to be! My walking buddy cancelled by text at the last minute (which secretly quite suited me as I'd got back late from DDs swimming class and was therefore shovelling dinner down 20 mins before walking when the text arrived...it meant lovely relief when I found out I wasn't going to have to go and I could enjoy eating my celeriac dauphinoise, pork steak and green beans and then put my feet up Blush). Tazy Lart!

Just had a yummy breakfast streaky bacon and grilled tomato with mayo washed down with a BPC, yummy.

I have a mental day today and DN over for a sleepover my DD is so excited. My mum is here at the mo and she is looking after them whilst i go out this evening - i am going to a steak place and plan on drinking red wine, so that should be ok for the diet. Cant wait as i have had a horrible few weeks and could do with a drink and a gossip! Plus i dont have to do the bad cop bit to get the kiddies to bed.

I need to start the couch to 5k but argh its hard, so i am starting 30 day shred first. I will keep on with the swimming and doing more walking with the kids.

Shall we have a 30 day shred thread challenge - it gives great results in just one week and is only 20 mins - am i selling it??? I swear i could see a little arm definition and tummy muscles after a week, wont lie first few days are super hard but after about day 3 it magically gets easier even if you do have to use the bannister to pull yourself up the stairs as your legs are so sore!!!
I did it before my wedding and it was easy to fit into the day....go on!!!

SBC everyone x

Macloveswill · 17/04/2015 11:52

Enjoy your night out Blessed! I would love to to the 30 day shred challenge, but just taken a look on you tube and I know it would be too much at the moment...especially the press-ups!! Let me get a couple more stones off and I will probably give it a go Grin

OP posts:
blessedenough · 17/04/2015 15:30

I have done 30 day shred about 3 times and i still cant do a full push up, i do the easy lady ones! I have been thinking about doing it since xmas, i just need to start - but not tonight or prob tomorrow!

Just been looking at menu for tonight and i could lick the computer screen, all looks lovely. I might have a sirloin steak and a caesar salad. Whats less carby red wine or fizzy wine??? I cant remember where we got to on our little alcohol experiment.

Too many coffees with cream today and not enough proper food.

Have a fab weekend everyone

ProfYaffle · 17/04/2015 15:35

I've had a dreadful day. Set off for the school run and discovered our beloved cat dead by the side of the road. Kids absolutely devastated, even dh came home from work when I told him.

On the plus side, I've got no urge to go and bury my head in a load of carbs or anything. I've even made creme egg chocolate brownie cake for dd1's birthday tomorrow and not wanted a bit of it.

I did 30 day shred a while ago but it buggered my knees. Kettlebells seem to be working for me at the moment.

Macloveswill · 17/04/2015 18:03

Aww Prof, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. Our old cat had to be put down aged 13 with kidney failure and it was like losing one of the family.

Blessed...it was sparkling Prosecco or Champagne that I found the best, but I know one or two of us found Sauvignon Blanc ok too. Not sure if anyone has tried red wine and been ok?

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 17/04/2015 18:11

We had our 18 year old cat put down after she had a stroke about 18 months ago. We got our new cat a few months later - well, he barged his way through the cat flap and refused to leave. We've only had him a year and he was in his prime so it's a real shock.

Re alcohol, I've stuck to wine, mainly dry white with the very odd glass of red every now and then. I've not had a massive problem with it interfering with weight loss. I am strict on food and exercise regularly though.

Macloveswill · 17/04/2015 18:31

It's so sad to lose a pet like that and I I can only imagine how upset your children are, Prof.

OP posts:
blessedenough · 17/04/2015 19:42

Ah prof, so sorry for your loss, i cried buckets when our cat died. Just waiting fr my taxi, will try some fizz, thanks all.

Macloveswill · 18/04/2015 08:01

Morning all

No weight loss again this morning...grr! However I'm feeling a bit slimmer, so thought I'd dig the tape measure out.

I forgot to measure right at the beginning, so first measured exactly 2 months ago. Here are my results so far:

Bust.....was 47", now 45"
Waist...was 40", now 38"
Hips.....was 48", now 46"
Thigh...was 29", now 26.5"
Arm......was 16.5, now 14.5"

That's at least 2 inches off each measurement. I'm pretty pleased with that!

Is anyone else measuring?

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 18/04/2015 08:31

Thanks for the sympathy. Had a lonely morning without my furry friend on my lap. We went out for tea last night, poor old dd2 sat in front of her lasagne with tears rolling down her face and couldn't eat it. I can't believe how upset we all are.

Completely forgot to weigh myself this week with everything that's been going on.

Dd1's birthday today though so we have to put it behind us. At least the budgies are no longer in fear of their lives!

I've not been measuring, I just didn't think of it. Does anyone else get irrationally nervous when weighing/measuring? I hate it.

blessedenough · 18/04/2015 08:44

Amazing Mac thats an inch a month. I did measure but i havent done it again for a while, i was doing it too soon and i wasnt seeing a difference but it hard to measure inexactly the same place every time, must dig out the tape measure again.

I had lush pork scratchings for a nibble at the restaurant, followed by a sirloin steak and caesar salad and a couple of red wines. Feeling a little bit heady today but had a great evening and not too bad diet wise.

I love weighing day but it can totally ruin my day if i dont see a loss, i have to sulk for an hr or so. I still havent weighed but i think i may have had a whoosh as i feel slimmer but prob still not back to where i was - big sigh.

We have viewings on our house today so off to hoover.

Macloveswill · 18/04/2015 16:14

Aww your heartbroken kids Prof. Would talk of a new kitten help? I remember thinking i'd seen our old cat out of the corner of my eye around the house for months afterwards. I'm sure you're all feeling the absence.

Agree the tape measure and the scales can be irrationally scary things Prof, but I do get a real boost when they give me good news. An inch a month feels pretty good in the absence of actual lost pounds right now.

Pleased you had a lovely evening Blessed and well done for sticking to it! Good luck with the viewings.

Busy day today, DD's ballet class (where I got 3..yes 3! compliments from separate people about my weight lossBlush), then plant and fence panel shopping at B&Q, then helping DH to tart up the garden and then cleaned all the downstairs rooms inside the house. Trying to get the garden looking good as planning a garden party/BBQ for my birthday in a couple of weeks.

I need to go shopping for tomorrow's picnic soon too. Meeting old mates and their DHs and kids at a country park for a picnic. Please all keep your fingers crossed for fab weather, it always seems to rain when we arrange this sort of thing!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and the sunshine (hopefully) xx

ProfYaffle · 18/04/2015 17:12

We're not making any decisions for a few weeks yet. Have to admit my instinct is to just get another cat asap but that's a bit knee jerk so we'll wait and re-consider in summer.

Went to TGI Fridays for lunch, quite a few lc friendly options on the menu though I asked for no cheesy mash and they gave me chips instead Grin Luckily dh stepped up to the mark and ate them for me.

blessedenough · 18/04/2015 18:24

Prof what a selfless DH you have... thats exactly what mine would do!

I am sorry but i vote for another kitten, maybe(?) you should allow time for grieving but i would prob get one from the rspca.

Mac - hope the sun shone, its been glorious here and we had a trip to the beach with my niece and they had ice cream and i just ordered myself a bottle of water - i wasnt even tempted - shocked face!!

No idea what dinner is yet - my head is still not in the zone yet but there is chicken, cheese and deli meats in the fridge, so plenty of options. Kids having pizza, again not bothered, i think i am def in ketosis.

DH back tomorrow and i cant wait, so need a bit of beautifying to make myself look less "tired mum". Then he can set up the Wii and i can see what my weight is. Also will dig out the tape measure. Last year when i started my first bootcamp i took some scary pics in my undies and i can certainly see the difference - even though i still have miles to go.

ProfYaffle · 18/04/2015 19:41

Trouble is we live on a main road so lots of rescue centres wouldn't approve us. I'm wondering about an older house cat rather than a kitten. I've always thought cats are happier going outside though, our two previous cats have been real stop out all night hunters. This is why we need time to mull it over.

In the meantime, the budgies are manfully trying to fill the 'cute creature antics' hole in our lives by flying around us and perching in unexpected places.

ProfYaffle · 20/04/2015 07:47

Well this is interesting. The last few weeks I've not been as strict as usual. Carbs 90% under 20g a day but the odd day I've got as high as 30g. Calories I used to go no higher than 1500 but would aim to stay around 1300. The last few weeks it's been more like 1600/1700. All this due to having a few weekends away/social occasions etc. Plus I've drunk more wine than normal.

Got on the scales today, have lost 4lbs in the last 2 weeks! Shock So I am now 12st 8lbs.

Is anyone here in the low carb groups on MFP? There's a discussion in the Low Carb Daily Forum where someone's saying they upped their calories and started to lose more weight. I've always been sceptical of these kinds of claims but the last 3 weeks of being a bit more relaxed have actually accelerated my weight loss. I've gone from 1lb per week to 2lbs per week.

I have changed to a new kettlebells dvd, that may have something to do with it.

Macloveswill · 20/04/2015 07:59

Wow Prof, well done you! Not on the other forums, but do hear eating more helps.

I on the other hand, normally losing 2lb per week, have lost literally zilch again. Aagh! Difficult to know where I'm going wrong as I don't count anything and don't really want to start. C'mon whoosh where are you?!

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 20/04/2015 08:06

Have to admit I've always strictly counted everything. At the start of this journey my appetite was quite disordered and I'm also rubbish at judging portion sizes by eye so I forced myself to weigh everything so I could learn reasonable portion sizes.

I feel more relaxed about knowing how much to eat now but I still weigh/measure/count everything. I think I'd find it too easy to overeat if I didn't.

blessedenough · 20/04/2015 09:55

On the bootcamp thread they say the nearer you get to target to keep losing weight, you need to up your fat to get losses - not sure if this is right as i am a long way from where i needing to worry about this!

I have to be careful of my portion sizes as i have a tendency to overeat as well, so i work on the 2 palm sized portions. I read it somewhere that you should aim for two palm sized portions of food, i also eat off of a side plate so my plate looks fuller.

Well done with the weightloss prof, 4lbs is great. I still need to hop on the scales but i def feel slimmer. Today is the day i start my exercise regime, probably lol.

Mac - more water and fat? Remember on a lc diet weight tends to come off in chunks and you must be due a whoosh any day now. Might be time to up your exercise or do a 3 day dairy free stint? On the bootcamp thread they swear by this for getting the scales moving in the right direction. If only it was as easy to write about it as to do it!! I would be slim by now.

Off to take my own advice and drink more water.

LetMeBeLight · 20/04/2015 11:10

Morning all.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat Prof, I can only imagine how devastated you must be (I've been known to tear up at the mere thought of losing my dog).

On to more positive things, well done on your further losses Prof and I've lost another 3 pounds, so that's a total of 11lbs off. Think the next goal has to be the full stone.

I am quite surprised with the loss as I haven't been strict, but then I suppose I haven't been 'bad'. No snacks or junk, just indulging with some meals and wine. And I have been making a concerted effort to walk further and faster with old muttley. I do need to step up more with the exercise and I'm game for doing a shred challenge with you Blessed.

Shall we start on 1st May? Gives us a little time to pysch ourselves up and get a few more pounds off. But for me, it's more about waiting for this bugger of a hayfever season (tree pollen) to finish. Woke up at 3am with streaming eyes and nose which didn't stop til 6.30am. I'm expecting to crash and burn some time after lunch and have already warned people I'm likely to leave the office early today!

Fingers crossed for a whoosh soon for you Mac, I'm sure it will come when you least expect it like after a night of indulgence!

ProfYaffle · 20/04/2015 12:13

Thanks LetMe.

I've been similar with food, although I've gone over on cals and carbs it's been with 'clean' food, no junk etc. Not sure the wine counts as 'clean' though Grin

LetMeBeLight · 20/04/2015 12:37

It's reassuring to know we don't have to be super strict as long as we're sensible in the main, isn't it? All fits in nicely with doing this for life and being maintainable.

Is it bedtime yet??? I'm already starting to lag!
