Orgasmic! Ahem, probably - with sour cream and chive dip. Yum yum!

Ahem, and a bit of salad or something

Crotchety · 20/10/2006 22:41

I have to say I'd rather look at the pics of emotional's little girl, strawb...She's lovely.

But that's a very odd thing to do with cheese.

emotionalwreck · 20/10/2006 23:20

Thanks Crotchety! She's got my double chin!

Tortington · 21/10/2006 01:09

recovered sat and today - means just tomoz to go then back in ketosis.

FrannyandZooey · 22/10/2006 17:27

Can I just check I have got this straight - you are all deliberately avoiding carbohydrates with the aim of going into ketosis?

caffeinequeen · 22/10/2006 20:18

Ooh like the sound of a tomato muffin. What's that then custy?

Tortington · 22/10/2006 22:08

a muffin ( roll, bap?) with tomato on!!

you thought i baked sommat didnt you?!

yes F&Z you have got it right

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/10/2006 22:09

I misread this as Catholics Anonymous....

caffeinequeen · 22/10/2006 22:23

i did indeed think you'd baked though an English Muffin with tomatoes on does sound yummy and I'm now wishing that's what I'd had instead of fried egg on toast for dinner.
But I'm going over to Recipes. I bet someone there's got a recipe for tomato muffins.

What have you done to your hand then Strawb? Is it time to start a new thread tomorrow? Week 2?
Who'll start it?

Crotchety · 22/10/2006 23:53

OK - I've read the other threads about your hand now. Ouch! Hope you feel better soon. Eat all the lemon drizzle cake you like I say. There are times that a tin of mackerel just won't do the trick...

sanchpanch · 23/10/2006 08:28

i am seriously thinkin of doing this .........

do you find it more expensive to fund this kind of diet?

what veg is low carbs, as i just noticed someone posted that carrots were high carb?

would i still have porridge or weetabix for brekie?
thanks

FrannyandZooey · 23/10/2006 08:53

I am really surprised

Is this a common thing to do? How do you feel while you are doing it?

Crotchety · 23/10/2006 09:14

F&Z it's basically for a couple of weeks in the induction phase of Atkins to get your body fat burning instead of relying on the sugary stuff you had for breakfast etc. We are not planning on giving ourselves kidney/liver damage etc. Previous posts on this thread may (or may not )convince that it is a healthy diet but it suffers from bad press and people imagining that you chuff down plates of lard for dinner and never look at a vegetable. You do need to read the book - whether Atkins or Clarke plan or whatever to get the full picture. Lots of people do low carb diets - it's low carb, not no carb. Suits some people better than others I'd say.

emotionalwreck · 23/10/2006 09:31

Ok guys - I'll start week 2 thread.....

Go there now to find out how much weight I've managed to lose this week!

joelallie · 23/10/2006 10:27

f&z - I agree that you need to read some books to get the full picture. But with regard to ketosis - we're all in ketosis at least some of the time unless. Ketosis often happens at night. It's not an unnatural state for the human metabolism. If we never burned stored fat we'd all get hugely overweight as almost everyone in the western world eats more calories than they require for their current energy needs. The excess is stored.

FrannyandZooey · 23/10/2006 12:38

Blimey. Thanks for the replies. No it wasn't the vegetable thing that bothered me, just that when I have been in ketosis I have found it an unpleasant experience and I thought it was a state to be avoided rather than embraced. I will go and do some reading. (must admit am v sceptical but thank you for your polite responses )

oxocube · 27/10/2006 10:01

May I join please? Am not overweight particularly but have gained 3 kg in last year and have a tendency to bloat which can only be carbs I think. I seem to live on bread and similar products so will be interested to see if low carb makes a big difference. Not a big meat eater but eat fish, cheese, eggs. Weighed in today and am going to resist the urge to weigh every day. Friday will be weigh in day

Interested in the Clark diet as find it v hard to start my day without a slice of wholemeal bread. Potatoes, pasta and rice, I can avoid much more easily.

Frogdelalune · 27/10/2006 11:08

Oxocube, you're welcome to join us but this is the old thread
I haven't got time to do a link now but look for Carboholics Anonymous week 2
