New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

That's a shame Silver :) sorry you don't feel this is for you, but good luck.

Milllli (how many 'l's' are you going to end up with?! Grinlol), I saw that program a few weeks ago; I also found it interesting. Still don't like her bruskness, and I think if she had stayed fat for 6 months or more, she'd have found it was a lot different losing that amount of weight.

OP posts:
Milllli · 06/02/2015 13:14

BUT.....She did the weight loss with Team Fat as a test cause they had been overweight for years and their losses were hugely significant too so I don't think the length of time of being over weight matters so much as your emotional connection to food.

Milllli · 06/02/2015 13:15

They were all doing mindful eating aka PM ing .

Ah, I see...soon you will have to be Millllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllli Grin.

Yes, I saw them too, but from memory, I wasn't so impressed with their weightlosses really.

Hi, just wanted to check in, sounds as if everyone has done well. I have fallen off the wagon a lot this week tbh, have been in a bit of trouble at work and really stressed about the whole thing so have been comfort eating rather than pauling, just find it so difficult. Have managed to do some exercise but not enough cause of lack of time cause of work crisis, but trying to rectify this, did over 17,000 steps yesterday, whilst have managed between 10,000 and 13,000 on the other days. Need to get myself sorted ad straight all round.

Solo · 08/02/2015 14:07

I had a BIG curry last night. Far far too much. Did leave some rice though and didn't touch the cake offered to me. I just couldn't Blush

Octopus ....Actually others are not doing well, so your not the only one. Smile

Solo · 09/02/2015 00:58

That is true Milllli

I'm not doing well at all.

I've made the mistake of not paying attention for a few days, and although I've eaten less than I usually would, I've eaten more than I should have. Haven't stopped when satisfied/full for most meals.

I'm actually feeling a little discouraged as I look really big today - my stomach looks bigger than before. And I did weigh myself (I know it's advised against) and I've put on a pound or two. Seemed to hit a half-stone loss then bounce back up.

I know it's a case of keep on, start again with the next meal. Just struggling today. Feel like I'll be hideously fat forever Sad

BeautyQueenFromMars · 09/02/2015 09:18

bounced

Milllli · 09/02/2015 15:43

If you have not been consciously eating the last few days then maybe it is just water and will come off once you get back on it Grin

Milllli · 09/02/2015 15:48

This happens to many people, they lose half a stone and then feel good and lose focus/self sabotage.

BeautyQueenFromMars · 09/02/2015 15:55

Oooh, fingers crossed, Millli Grin

It usually happens to me at around 9lb loss, so it's come earlier this time Grin

I'm so tired and low today, I just haven't the energy to do it. I'm going to get an early night, listen to the CD again and try again in the morning.

I hope you're well, by the way, Millli Smile

BeautyQueenFromMars · 09/02/2015 15:56

Please excuse the random extra grinning face in my previous post. Aforementioned tiredness is making me do strange things.

Solo · 10/02/2015 00:30

Yes, yes! I too am guilty of self sabotage! but it will be fine and we will succeed! Flowers

Im doing ok, thank you for asking Beauty. Taking each day as it comes .

Silverjohnleggedit · 10/02/2015 08:15

Well hello again lovelies! Grin

Millli sent me a very encouraging pm, and it seems I was not so far away from Pauling as I thought....so I plunged in a little deeper. I'm loving the mindful eating.

Struggling a bit with the only eat when you're hungry thing - I missed lunch yesterday - was very hungry while driving, got home and the hunger had gone, so had a cup of tea...was ravenous by 6.00pm and then put my dinner out and the hunger had ebbed away again - decided to eat anyway as I felt empty. Managed to leave some dinner and had to sample the dcs produce from cooking class...forgot to leave some, not sure I could have done so anyway without upsetting them....I'd already cut the portion in half. Didn't feel tempted to have anymore which is great for me.

Can't shake the mindset of eating what I think I should eat rather than what I want to eat...maybe they are one in the same. I want to eat a big plate of veg because I know it's good for me and I like the way it tastes but I don't know whether I'd choose the same thing if it wasn't considering the health implications, I don't like processed food, so I'm never tempted in that direction, my achillies is sugar.

So yesterday I ate

Breakfast Cheese on wholemeal soda bread - left a bit of bread

Dinner small portion of pasta, lots of tomato meat sauce, spring cabbage and roast butternut squash - left half of the pasta.
2 halves of cinnamon swirls

Going out for a 15min run this morning with my dog - we're just getting used to running with each other.

Milllli · 10/02/2015 15:25

Hi Silver.Grin So lovely to see you here and that you are enjoying your food. I eat loads of veg and fruit because I love it too. I often prefer it over the meat part. Me yesterday.....

with sweet pot,carrots,peas,cauliflower cheese,toms.

Milllli · 10/02/2015 15:26

Good to see you have come back Silver and well done Milllli for the encouragement! :)

Silverjohnleggedit · 11/02/2015 15:59

Thank you solo and milllli for the warm welcome!

I'm half way through the book millli recommended Overcoming Overeating and it makes a lot of sense, so much so that I could almost weep.

As per book instructions I've just returned from the supermarket, where I have bought an enormous pile of sugary gorgeousness. I avoided my usual supermarket because I was too embarrassed by how hideously junky my shopping list was. Blush

Don't know what the kids are going to say when they get home - cupboards are stuffed with sweet treats, normally only a christmas event.

I have warned them that I may not be eating with them initially as I deal with fixing my sugar binges - poor sods have lost countless sweets to my sugar frenzies, they must be looking forward to being able to confidently leave some chocolate in the cupboard without me scoffing it. Wink

Most of all I'm looking forward to ending my battle with food. I'm not overweight, but I've wanted to be fashion skinny for years and it's that desire that has gotten me into this mess, now I just want to eat normally.

Milllli · 11/02/2015 17:49

I cried to when I read it Silver. It makes you feel sorry for all you have put your self through. Thanks

Milllli · 11/02/2015 18:05

I know it seems strange buying and stocking your kitchen with all the foods you have been not allowed yourself for years but it is part of getting your mind to understand that all food is equal. Eventually and quickly, if you allow yourself to go with it, you will naturally crave fruit veg, nuts etc.
