New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Solo · 01/01/2015 13:03

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

Hi achoo and welcome!

The thread is really aimed at the I Can Make You Thin, but a few of us have also used the Hypnotic Gastric Band and Free From Emotional Eating. I think most of us have gone for the ICMYT first though; so the choice is yours. I am personally considering going back to the ICMYT as I found the HGB has stopped working for me.
The prices for the books (including the cd's and dvd's) aren't too bad in terms of cost, so try the original and see how you go with it first :)

Hi achoo I always do the rules from I Can Make You thin. Even if you read the other books/cds you still have to apply the simple golden rules which Solo has included in the intro.

achoo · 31/03/2015 09:28

Thank you both for the advice. I will get myself a copy today and get started Smile

bubulix · 31/03/2015 18:36

Well four days in now and I don't want to jinx it but it's going amazingly. I've done the system 2 or 3 times for really short periods of time (it worked each time - we really are our own worst enemies!) but it still felt like a battle each day, all day.

This time I've brought Emotional Eating in to see if it helps. I'm not sure if it is this or not but this time it's just different. Food has just gone from my mind except when I'm really hungry and even then it's not a panic, desperate thought - it's a calm affair of eating a little of what I want

I've been using the Listen While You Eat CD and it's too fast for me - I find I'm taking a mouthful every second prompt and finishing before its half way through.

Persist with this system and have faith in it and yourself. Hoping this isn't just a phase but the start of my final journey down the stones

bubulix · 01/04/2015 13:12

A bit of a TMI post but since starting again on Saturday I havne't done a number 2.... Does anyone else experience less frequency?

Solo · 02/04/2015 14:10

Hi achoo how are you doing?

bu :) you are sounding fabulous!! well done! as for the toileting habits; it's probably your body adjusting to your new small amounts of food and if you aren't uncomfortable, I would not be too concerned personally. Drink plenty of water as that should help in case you aren't hydrated enough.

Happy Easter everyone!! Thanks

OP posts:
bubulix · 02/04/2015 14:33

It's not uncomfortable so not worried - I'm sure it will happen when it needs to happen!

I'm heading to the in-laws over Easter and then all-inclusive holiday in Turkey so let's see how that goes.

I was there in November (having been on SW for 6 months and losing 3 stone) and put on nearly a stone. That was the final nail in the coffin for diets.

I'd worked so hard all that time before the holiday, saying no to things I wanted, picking things at restaurants because they 'were on plan' just for it all to be undone so easily once I went off plan.

I'm excited this time - keen to enjoy all the delicious foods and be in control (hopefully)!

Solo · 02/04/2015 15:21

Good for you! :) enjoy!!

Hi I'm doing well thanks. I've read the book and listened to the cd a couple of times. I've managed to stop eating when I'm full and leave some which is quite unusual for me! I'm a bit wary about having a drink over the weekend. I know I'm not really supposed to but since it's Easter I'll be having a rare night out.

bubulix · 02/04/2015 17:30

Sounds like it's going well achoo You should be fine drinking - it's mainly the extra eating while drunk or hangover feasts that you need to watch for.

How are you getting on Solo?

Solo · 02/04/2015 19:53

:) I'm still 6lbs down thanks! but I want to be a bit smaller for Dd's First Communion in a months time! If I can lose another 7 or 8lbs, I'll feel more comfy. Plus I'll be able to wear something I already own rather than go and buy new!

OP posts:
bubulix · 03/04/2015 09:07

Solo I'm sure you'll lose those extra pounds you want to, but if not you'll look stunning just the way you are too.

I've lost 7.5 pounds this week and feeling ready to tackle my time away with my new mindset

Hope everyone has a great Easter and enjoys some guilt free chocolate (if you are hungry and it's want you want lol)

Milllli · 03/04/2015 20:18

Brilliant that you have kept the 6lbs off Solo :)

Solo · 06/04/2015 01:11

Bet it's all back on after Easter Sunday lunch though :(

OP posts:
bubulix · 06/04/2015 07:10

solo I'm sure it's not! As Paul says, you will slip up, just use the system the next time you are hungry.

I'm doing surprisingly well as my in laws. Usually being away somewhere flicks a switch in my to go wild with food but this time I've been pretty mindful and only had one bite of chocolate yesterday.

Milllli · 06/04/2015 10:01

Well done BubGrin

Solo · 07/04/2015 00:36

Yes, well done bub :)

How are you Milli :)

Fairygen · 07/04/2015 20:17

Hi all, I have used the gastric band system sccessfully a few years ago, but fell off the wagon and eventually joined a slimming club.

After losing 2 stone....surprise surprise, I've put just over a stone back on!! I reinstalled the band this morning, although I was interrupted twice, and have been following the rules. ( they are the same as ICMYT)

I know it is only day one, but the freedom I feel is amazing. For the first time in longer than I can remember, I haven't spent all day weighing, measuring, calculating or obsessing over whether to have cereal or bread!!!

long may it last!!

Milllli · 07/04/2015 23:45

Hi Fairygen. It is freeing, isn't it! My band still works since I installed it in the beginning but I do refresh it often.

Milllli · 08/04/2015 13:31

Hi Solo. I'm doing OK thank you Smile

Solo · 11/04/2015 13:50

Hi all! do the digital weighing scales ever lie? would they start telling fibs if say the battery needed renewing? mine is telling me that I've gained weight, my raincoat is telling me I haven't! very odd!

OP posts:
Bluecarrot · 12/04/2015 09:06

My scales did this but replacing batteries didn't work. I had to buy new ones :(

( lurking as starting PMK today once dd naps!)

Solo · 12/04/2015 13:43

Hi Bluecarrot welcome. Don't lurk! join in :) we are friendly, just a bit quiet at the moment.
Thanks for answering re scales :) My Dd stood on an old set of mechanical scales and then the digital ones and they read the same. I didn't try the mechanical ones at that time.

EggInABap · 12/04/2015 19:36

Another lurker here, can I join you please? I started the 4 rules last Wednesday and will be weighing this Weds, I'm feeling great so far.

I know this works as I did it for my wedding 3 years ago- I got to 10 stone in a size 10 dress. For some crazy reason after the wedding it all went completely wrong. In the past 3 years I have tried every diet under the sun and have put on more and more weight. I am now 14 stone Hmm, more than I weighed at 9 months pregnant with my 6 year old DS.

I KNOW this works, because normal thin people follow it every day without realising!!! I can't stay on the diet merry go round anymore. I realised last week at a Slimming World meeting (where the leaders were actually bigger than me- not a great advert for SW) that it's all a load of shit.

I have also recently purchased a fitbit and will be aiming for 10k steps a day starting tomorrow.

I am going to try to check in with you all every day to keep myself on the straight and narrow. Have a great week of amazing food people!

Milllli · 12/04/2015 23:08

Solo scales don't lie.....sorry. You did say last week that you had eaten sooo much that you reckon you put the 6lb back on :)

Welcome Egg
