New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

Hi all, feels like I haven't had chance to post recently - can't wait for the Easter holidays!! I should be at work now but my dd had s & d yesterday, some sort of stomach bug, and wasn't well enough to go to school today so at home with her today.
It's fair to say that I have been on some sort of wilful binge for the past week - just eating ridiculous amounts but unable to stop myself. So am using today at home to try and calm my emotions and begin again... thanks for the kind words milli. Solo Thorpe Park sounds fun! We went to Trafford Centre for a shopping/meal out day on Saturday, as we're quite isolated where we live don't get to the 'big shops' much! Glad we went on Saturday as wouldn't have been able to go anywhere yesterday, dd was sick and the other end as soon as she got up! anyway, today is just a recovery day for her, she hasn't been sick since yesterday early afternoon...fingers crossed! hope everything is ok :)

Solo · 16/03/2015 23:23

Hi Yippee hope your Dd is feeling better Thanks.

Don't worry about the binging of last week; you are again at the beginning ~ just like me :) let's keep on going!!

Solo are you truly allowing yourself to eat WHATEVER you want when your truly hungry?

Hattieboomboom · 17/03/2015 23:00

Hi everyone. I'm joining you from tomorrow. Sorry if it's been covered before but is there anyway to get the CD as an mp3 download so I can listen on my phone? If not I'm going to have to buy a CD Walkman. Also, is anyone else thinking of starting this way if eating now and want to partner up?! I've been on and off a low carb diet for the last year and every time I go back to normal eating I find myself trying to make up for all the missed carbs. I don't binge exactly, just eat much more than I need and am about a stone overweight. Too much toast/bread/butter/bowls of cereal, etc. The hardest time of day is 4-5pm, when I haven't eaten since lunch but am busy making the kids supper - whilst also filling my own face with anything I fancy.. But as soon as they're asleep I'm back downstairs making something else delicious for me & DH which I obviously have to eat too.

I feel depressed at my lack of self control and will power. Only need to lose a stone. Why is it so hard?

Solo · 18/03/2015 23:42

Milli no, I'm not doing anything right atm.

Hattie welcome! I do believe that you can get it on MP3.
I am about to get myself back on track and get listening again too!

Solo Im sorry your having a bad time. I know you can do it but its hard when you are under emotional stress isn't it. Hows everything else in your life going?
Hattie Hi. Welcome Smile

Effii · 19/03/2015 01:28

Hattie we all try and eat mindfully every day so each day is a fresh start in a way. There is usually someone around to chat too so feel free. Binging is usually what happens after any "diet". This way you never need miss out on any food so never need to binge.

Milllli · 22/03/2015 00:46

Hope you had a nice Birthday day today Solo x

Solo · 22/03/2015 01:47

Thank you Milli :)

SharonWard · 24/03/2015 16:39

Hi all, Been under quite a bit of stress recently and therefore been eating even when not hungry. Comfort eating is what I've done for years and I've never managed to stop it. Tomorrow is a new day and I am determined to follow the golden rules and not let stuff get to me and stop me making progress. Just got to stay positive :-)

Milllli · 24/03/2015 17:10

Hi Sharon. Do you slip up because in your mind you have decided to go on a diet and then you prepare for the diet and start and end up binging?

SharonWard · 24/03/2015 17:27

It's hard to say the reason why, Milli. I am absolutely spot on from the moment I get up till around 4pm. When I get to that kinda time I start wanting to eat despite not being hungry. I know it sounds stupid - it is lol - but it's what mostly happens and I end up overeating and then hating myself for it afterwards. It's a vicious cycle. I lost 10lbs really quickly using this system and, for some reason, I always end up slipping back into my old habits after a few weeks.

emmief77 · 24/03/2015 19:42

Hi everyone, can I join you?

Downloaded the Gastric Band app at the weekend, have started listening to it, however having a few problems relaxing when I lam listening. My mind keeps wandering and i start thinking about all sorts; can I hear the kids, is that a dog I can hear barking outside, what I need to do at work the following day etc etc .... Also, had a really stressful day yesterday and went to bed upset and didn't listen at all Sad

All in all, don't feel I've had a succesful start, would you recommend going back to day 1 and starting again?

Milllli · 24/03/2015 20:28

Sharon is it that time when the kids are home and eating is a way of dealing with the demand put upon you?

emmie Hi. When you listen to the cds and your mind starts to wander you need to to back to the count down again. You just keep going back to counting and this is what is meant to focus your mind whilst he talks.
I don't have the app but use the bood and cd. I re insert the band every month but I find that it works well for me even if I don't re insert it.

emmief77 · 25/03/2015 17:39

thanks Milllli you are a Star

would you suggest i start from the beginning again?

Milllli · 25/03/2015 22:32

What does start from the beginning entail ? If you mean do the two week phase where you cut out fatty food etc then no. Just reboot the gastric band and if your mind starts to wander just start counting down again from 300. If you drift off that is fine too. From what I understand you should hear the bit at the end which tells you to "Wake up".
With an inserted band my feeling of being satisfied is a little bit of heartburn after a good few mouthfuls. I can over ride it and ignore it but I do feel it. I try and stop then and I can always eat again if I am hungry later.

Milllli · 26/03/2015 14:48

Solo ..... Anyone how you all doing?Smile

Solo · 27/03/2015 01:04

I have been rushing around this afternoon/evening looking for a Communion dress for Dd. We were late, so went to Ikea for our tea. I had a lamb shank, peas and mashed potato. It wasn't a massive meal, but it was gorgeous and enough had 2 cups of tea and refused to join Dd in an ice scream, because I didn't want one! :)

I think I have realised that it's textures that I like with foods. I love nuts, toasted pain au chocolate etc. I have to be careful about this mouth hunger...I drink a lot of tea throughout a day.

How are you Milli ?

Milllli · 27/03/2015 13:17

When is her big day Solo? What will you be wearing? Sounds like your in the zone on the eating front Smile . I'm ok thanks. Eating to the golden rules and seem to be in the right mindset. Smile

Milllli · 27/03/2015 13:19

For me it's all about the flavours. Herbs, spices, sweet, sour, salty and sweet together.......yum!

emmief77 · 27/03/2015 19:26

thanks Millli - i've only just started, should i go back to day one on my app?
