New Year, New Thread #16 For Paul McKenna's Losers!!! He Can Make Us Thin!!!

Solo · 01/01/2015 13:03

Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to thread #16 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.
Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" have a glass of water to see if it's real hunger or just thirst; wait 15 or 20 minutes if you can, before eating something to see if it's 'gone off' after a drink. Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.
Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things! :)

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain; we just need to change how we treat food and ourselves.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose; it's very doable.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2015 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Hypnotic Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is 'there?' We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! Smile 1lb at a time....

Milli Hello you lovely lady Smile I did see your post, thank you. I'm so sorry I didn't reply - I intended to and then was busy and then forgot Blush How are you doing?

I honestly don't know what would help me to stop or slow down the overeating. I do buy the foods I love and I give myself permission to eat them. Unfortunately, I'm allowing myself to overeat. It's for as simple a reason as I like the taste. Even when my belly is telling me it's full, my mouth is saying 'more, more, more'. I do suffer from depression, but it's not severe enough for medication. It's more that I have low days every so often, rather than being down all the time.

Also, I'm bloody bored at work. I know if I didn't bring anything to eat, then I obv wouldn't eat it. But the thought of there not being food available actually scares me a little. How daft is that?! I could last for quite some months on my body fat, and heaven knows that a day with less food would be rather a good thing for me!

Think I'll dig out the Overcoming Overeating book again, and read it along with ICMYT.

Gah! 35 years of conditioning is bloody hard to overcome Angry

Sorry for the rant.

Milllli · 03/03/2015 12:49

Hi Beauty I'm ok thanks. Sorry your struggling. Are you maintaining though? Maybe just aim for maintaining rather than weight loss might be the answer. I think that I am getting frustrated myself as I can't seem to lose anymore BUT I am maintaining so that is good when you eat what you want, isn't it? I have just thought about this now and realised that when I hop on the scales and dont see a weight loss I am guilty of beating myself up when I could see it that at least my weight stays the same. I'm guilty of not moving around enough so need to address that but when it'd sooo cold I sit by the fire with my lovely friend ( the laptop) and veg out.....haha.Grin

Milllli · 03/03/2015 12:50

We have thick snow on the mountains around us so tis very very cold but very pretty.

BeautyQueenFromMars · 04/03/2015 10:36

Milli, I'm glad you're ok. Well done on maintaining - that can be more difficult than losing weight sometimes, I think. It's very easy to give up if you're not losing, and if you give up then you won't maintain.

I don't know if I'm maintaining or not as I'm too scared to get on the scales. Like you, if I don't see a loss then I beat myself up. And I definitely don't move around enough. I don't even have a lovely fire to sit next to, so not sure what my excuse is Grin

Ooh living near snowy mountains sounds brilliant. Whereabouts do you live? I'm only asking generally, and you don't have to answer! I live in East Anglia/South East England. No hills or mountains, no sea near, barely any snow even when the rest of the country is inches deep in it. I think I need to move...

Milllli · 05/03/2015 12:23

Beauty Snowdonia, right by Snowdon but also facing the sea. It's beautiful. Grin

Hi all, thanks for the welcome milli Smile well, I have spent a few days in a reaction to dieting, otherwise known as binging! I a, really quite annoyed with myself but think it is totally a reaction to having restricted certain foods as they are the ones I have been overeating - cheese, bread, crisps and chocolate Shock so last night I played the hgb track, I normally stick to ee and icmyt. Hoping it will help... I weighed myself on Thursday and I had stay from dieting the previous week but I know I have put a bit on over the last few days as I can feel it, so got to take this seriously now. Going to try and make some nice foods over the weekend like soups in my soup maker and may need to mentally remind myself that I actually do like healthier foods as well and not see the mindful eating as just 'treating' myself all the time. What's everyone up to this weekend? I have to go into work for a couple of hours this aft for a special event we are having, and also got some work to do, and so has hubby, so going to be a bit of turn taking between occupying dd and work! Have to say can't wait for warmer weather as I like salads but never fancy them when it's cold weather! We are in cumbria and it is invariably wet - today it's wet and windy Sad. That's reminded me of the other thing that I need to get back into, the gym! Work has been so busy I haven't had chance; might start running outside again when the water weather begins...hope everyone is good!

TooBusyByHalf · 07/03/2015 09:26

Hello, everyone. New here. Have bought the ICMYT book. So far I've managed to start eating what I want but not managed to stop! So I thought I'd drop by for some encouragement... The question I wanted to ask is how do you all cope with the waste? So e.g. If you buy lunch out, pay £6 or more for it, and then have to leave half doesn't that feel awful?

Milllli · 07/03/2015 16:43

yippee that is a perfectly normal reaction when stopping a diet. To overeat on the foods that were previously deemed bad or forbidden is what most people do when stopping a "diet". That's why, in my opinion, diets don't work. You can lose weight on a diet but most people cant stick to the perceived deprevation and will at some point binge. So to get back into PM/mindful eating you generally will find yourself overeating for a week or so until your mind accepts that food is not restricted and you can in fact have anything. Smile
TooBusy Hi and Welcome Grin Have you listened to the CD and read the complete book yet? It explains a lot of what you need to know.
Regarding wasted food. I tend to only eat of a smaller plate or half a sandwich. If the rest of the sandwich goes in the bin then that is fine. You are not a bin so why put it in you just because you don't want to waste money. It makes no difference does it? If I buy lunch in a restaurant then I just eat what I want and stop when "satisfied". I have never really finished a huge plate full anyway and always leave food. Again, it can go in the bin but you are not a bin and putting it in you just because you have paid for it is sort of abusing your body.

Milllli · 07/03/2015 16:49

Beauty how are you getting on this week?
Petra, Octopus how are you both doing? Its easy to feel that this wont work because you are eating too much but by reading the book and using the cd and checking in before you eat as to whether you are really hungry and stopping when satisfied, you will gradually be tuning into your body and only eating the calories that your body needs and then weight loss follows. You know you are doing this correctly when you see your clothes getting loser/scales going down.

Milllli · 07/03/2015 16:50

Solo hoping the rebooting was a success. Maybe re read the book too just to get yourself back into it. It is important to read the GB book as well as listening too the CD.

Solo · 08/03/2015 12:48

Hi all! welcome to the new Paulers too!

I am having trouble with the internet again grrr!!! no idea why unless its the weather...Hmm

Milli don't think it's worked and I just don't have time to read right now, but I will try :) how are you doing? :)

OP posts:
Milllli · 08/03/2015 13:08

Solo I would contact your supplier. I have problems with internet dropping a lot but then I'm very rural and technology hasn't reached here yet. Sine areas here can't get broadband at all or phone connection. The most we can get is 2mb. Shame the band doesn't work for you. Just do the cd that you feel works but as you know the main thing is to follow the rules for mindful eating completely. Smile

Milllli · 08/03/2015 13:13

Not that I always do mind Blush Just trying to help.Smile

Solo · 08/03/2015 13:44

I am going to try to upgrade my entire package (tv and internet) once I've sorted the house Milli but I'm not at that stage yet.

I don't understand why the GB worked for me until I did a second listen to it; it seemed to undo it and I can't get it back! will try harder.

OP posts:
yippeekiyay2 · 08/03/2015 18:22

Thanks for the reassurance Milli thought I was over the binging stage but apparently not! Weekend write off and am and sat here drinking wine as I've had a fallout with dh and am generally feeling sorry for myself Sad... Just feeling a bit unappreciated and we both have FT jobs, work to do and whilst he does have more, I don't think he gets how frustrating it is for me to be stuck in with our dd all the time as he goes away for work often at the mo, and we live away from family. I feel like I'm getting cabin fever as Im not even getting chance to go to the gym. Plus I'm dealing with mental health issues a lot at work (not mine!) and I am totally drained emotionally. Just had enough at the moment. Think I need a holiday! Not a good thought to have on a Sunday when a full week at work awaits, and bath and bedtime stuff to sort for Dd. Anyway, sorry to vent. Hoping others have had more success than me.

Milllli · 08/03/2015 22:18

Yippee its perfectly ok to vent. Its hard bringing up kids without any family to help. I had no family to help with my two at all so I understand how you feel. Work sounds hard for you at the moment too. What about planning that holiday, would that maybe help you feel a bit happier? Smile

Milllli · 09/03/2015 17:49

Ah, sorry this didn't work for you Octopus.

TooBusyByHalf · 09/03/2015 20:35

Thanks Milllli. I am not a bin. Will make that my mantra Grin
Day 1 of doing it properly today. So far so good.
I fell asleep within minutes of starting the CD though. Will try again later!

Solo · 10/03/2015 00:07

Have I missed something re Octopus Milli ?

Hi all.

Feeling quite down. I know this system works as I lose weight when ever I do it, the problem for me, however, is that I constantly self-sabotage and have no idea why. I lost 10lbs in two weeks last month. I then go on a stupid binge and back to my old ways. Then back on the system, lose weight, and back to old ways. Repeat over and over again. I just get the urge to eat when I'm not hungry and eat at my normal fast rate. Then the guilt hits you afterwards and you feel like crap and do it again and again. Like I said, I know this system works, I just have major problems staying on it for more than a few weeks without slipping for no reason at all.

Solo · 11/03/2015 10:10

Hi Sharon :) I too have been doing what you are doing. I'm gaining more weight over the past few weeks too. I have got to deal with this; I don't want to be fat any longer.

Solo · 11/03/2015 23:54

I was doing OK until this evening. All went wrong after dinner. :(

OP posts:
TooBusyByHalf · 12/03/2015 11:37

Hi everyone, solo and Sharon. I've only just started so haven't had time to fall off the wagon yet! I'm sure my challenging days will come.

Can anyone advise about the CD? I've listened to it 6 or 7 times this week but each time I've fallen asleep really quickly. I simply don't hear anything much past the counting down from 300 at the beginning. I don't wake up at the end - not until the next track comes on - music playing too loud - which wakes me with a jolt. My partner says there's a bit at the end where you're supposed to come round - I've never heard it. Any tips on how to stay awake?

Solo · 12/03/2015 14:38

Hi Too don't worry about waking up or not iyswim; your subconscious will hear it all and that is all you need :) just keep listening as and when you feel the need :)
