Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?

I need to lose at least 2 stone by June.

Tbh I haven't done too bad over Christmas and haven't gained afaik? avoided scales.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh just over 13 stone. Am a size 14. My stomach is my worst area, legs and arms are fine as are boobs.

I only want to get to a size 12 as don't look so good as a 10. I used to be really skinny when younger and hated it.

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding? I'm not even looking at dresses yet until I lose some.

I do bootcamp three times a week, spinning once a week, I swim and run when I get the chance. I haven't done much this week because I've been working late and I also go to college 6-9pm twice a week so I'm out the house for 13 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays Sad

FreakinScaryCaaw · 12/01/2015 17:43

Well I wouldn't be worrying about your calories too much Soon.

How old are your dcs?

Me? No DCs as yet and no plans to have any for a few years - DP and I are both only 24. We want to travel as much as we can before we have kids, all of our disposable income goes on travel (and now the wedding!)

I was directed to Mumsnet to have a laugh at a total bunfight of a thread a few months ago and I just never left! I really like it here and it's comforting to know that other people without kids post, I'm not the only one Grin

FreakinScaryCaaw · 12/01/2015 19:15

Exdh did that too, lots of travel first (mainly US) We still travelled once we had them but you're much freer when just a couple.

I recommend MN to everyone. It's full of good chat and lots of info Smile

So my pending period blow out consisted of beans on 2 slices toast with grated cheese (as opposed to vegetable soup), a mini pot of custard and a packet of Jaffa cakes. The good news is I am feeling very full so may skip dinner. I am also feeling a lot more normal.
FSC - I have tried dark chocolate but to no avail. I am in awe of my incredibly restrained friend who is incredibly thin & gorgeous but never eats anything and allows herself 2 squares of Green & Black's 70% when she is on. A bar lasts her 4 months as that is all the chocolate she eats. EVER.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 13/01/2015 07:59

I've just realised how little time I have. I need to exercise more and be conscious of those little treats that you don't realise you're eating.

I watched an interesting programme last night, did anyone see it? BBC What's the right diet for you? I'm not sure which one is but the keytones one looks interesting. Ther's a test you can take here. I'm going to take it see what it says?

dancing it's a shame the dark chocolate doesn't work for you. Your friend has amazing resolve! Is she a foodie though? I find some people aren't that interested in food??? Confused I am

I just did the BBC test and I am a constant craver! I do tend to snack, often only eating dinner as s meal and snacking instead of having bfast and lunch. It recommended I have two days a week where I fast and only have 500-800 calories. A couple of my friends do that diet. Isn't it the 5-2 diet?

SantasFavouriteHo · 13/01/2015 08:15

I don't even want to think about yesterday demolished both kids selection boxes
New day today right?!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 13/01/2015 09:23

Yes 5mad and you lose a lot of fat doing it! I'm a Feaster Grin I don't think about food much and don't eat if upset but do like big portions. Having said that I'm filling up more on veg and soup atm.

Yes Santa new day today.

It suggested that I do 5:2 as well, which will never happen! I once tried it and I made it to around 3pm before I almost ran to the vending machine Blush

Dowser · 13/01/2015 09:46

Well I'm just plodding on. Sticking to 1200 cals or thereabouts.

Apart from my usual. Won't bother writing it out again we had grilled salmon, mixed steamed veg for dinner with some wild rice. Four choccies ( a whopping 240 cals ) were my only snacks. This would have been more and a flapjack pre my wedding dress diet.

Those ketone sticks arrived yesterday and mine didn't change from the base colour. So not in ketosis after my morning omelette. Not sure if they are a good or bad thing.

Have a good day everyone. Your exercising wears me out just thinking about it. With all your activity mrs b do you really need to cut calories lol . I'm already imagining you whippet thin.

SoonToBeMrsB · 13/01/2015 10:22

Haha whippet thin would be a nice change, I currently look like a potato in a dress! Grin

I'm following Weight Watchers at the moment as it has really worked for me in the past, I have weigh in tomorrow morning and it's looking like half a pound down which I'm okay about considering I've been about 70% on plan this week and I haven't done much exercise.

My day looks like this:

B: Strawberries, blueberries and nectarines with greek yoghurt and granola, coffee

L: Homemade ham and lentil soup, Activia yoghurt, 2x tangerines, grapes

D: Sweet and sour stir fry, boiled rice, WW yoghurt

ALL OF THE YOGHURT. I really didn't plan it like that, whoops! I have college tonight 6-9pm after work so it has to be leftover stuff that I can stick in the microwave for dinner.

gotredonyou · 13/01/2015 11:00

Morning all,

I did the BBC test and it said I was a mix of all three so I can basically do any diet?? lol helpful! I've debated doing the 5:2 as on Cambridge I was only on 600 cals 7 days a week- so I know I could do it! But dairy free, low carb seems to be working for me atm- my stomach is back to being almost flat again :) Went for a 30 min power walk last night so hopefully I can tackle my wobby thighs!

Todays menu-
B 1 WM toast with 2 scrambled eggs
L Tuna Mayo Salad, Soya yoghurt & Grapes
D Chicken, Pepper & Onion Wrap, nakd bar.

Dowser · 13/01/2015 11:06

I'm no nutritionist mrs b so please see this as more of a question.

Just looking at your breakfast which seems very sugar laden ( fruit) and carb laden ( granola) . Little bit of protein in yogurt. It just seems to be very carb laden which I thought gave you an energy spike with your blood sugar but then you come crashing down feeling tired and lethargic. Also doesn't coffee ( caffeine) give you that spike.

What protein is in your stir fry?

Dowser · 13/01/2015 11:09

I would say your menu seems more balanced go red as you have some protein in each meal, not saying that you have too ( I have the dreaded green juice each lunch) and doesn't seem as sugar laden as mrs b.

Again see that as a question ;-)

ethelb · 13/01/2015 11:10

I do. I need to loose a stone by April. Wedding dress shopping in a few weeks though.

Dowser · 13/01/2015 11:13

I can't get the test to load :-(

Dowser · 13/01/2015 11:14

I think you are new Ethel. Are you joining us ;-)

ethelb · 13/01/2015 11:19

Yes! I'm doing ww with quite a lot of exercise. Is anyone doing the 30 day shred?

SoonToBeMrsB · 13/01/2015 11:23

Frankly, I eat things that I enjoy so long as it's within my points allowance. I have tried to follow set plans and I end up eating stuff that doesn't thrill me, which is when I binge. My breakfasts vary - sometimes fruit and yoghurt, sometimes porridge, sometimes shredded wheat with banana, sometimes eggs and bacon medallions, sometimes beans on wholemeal toast. I vary it a lot so one carb/sugar-heavy breakfast doesn't necessarily speak for the entire week.

My stir fry has lean turkey steak in it. I eat plenty of protein, nights when I'm not at college and can actually access a cooker I make much more protein-heavy meals with lots of veg and a small serving of complex carbs.

gotredonyou · 13/01/2015 11:23

Yes I learnt from Cambridge that protein keeps you fuller for longer so I try and have some at every meal...carbs just make me want more food so I try and balance them a little. I deffo need to up the veg though- might try putting some leafy greens in my berry smoothie one morning?? x

FreakinScaryCaaw · 13/01/2015 11:27

Hi Ethelb Smile

On the diet programme last night they showed you what a pound of fat looks like. I'm sure you'll have seen it before but makes you realise even 1 pound is pretty good.

I've lost another pound. It's no wonder really. Was just saying to dp last night, as we were tucking into our light lemon yoghurt, we'd usually be eating a fruit tart or curd tart. 70 cals instead of 320. All the little sacrifices add up.

I'm still having my favourite snack, a bag of crisps. But it's 89 cals of sticks instead of a bag of Walkers or similar.

Good luck everyone. Am off to find something healthy for lunch. Then going to work to do training (maths based...yawn).

Ethelb I can't find my Shred dvd Sad It's brilliant isn't it? Only 20 minutes but you really feel the burn.

OP posts:
ethelb · 13/01/2015 11:38

Freaking you do feel the burn. I did it last night and my abs still hurt though I am a few days in.

5madthings · 13/01/2015 12:13

I may give the 5:2 diet a go, it's quite usual for me to get to midday before eating anything anyway so pretty sure I could stick to say 600 calories. I will have to fast on non running days though, currently running, Mon, Tues, thu and sat. So may fast on wed and Fri or maybe wed and Sunday.

Going to have lunch now, haven't eaten yet today. Just walked 2.5km back from a friends, pushing dd and wil go for a run this afternoon. Did 5.5km run yesterday in the wind and rain, at least it's brighter weather today.
