Well then, before wine I reckon you would have had approx 900-1000 ish, with the red wine I would say a total of 1250-1350 ish. Approx 700 cals in a bottle of red wine. So, still a good day

costababe · 28/11/2006 13:14

Struggling at the moment and the weddings this sat, oh bugger.
Yesteray, no brekkie, chicken and lowfat mayo sandwich on white, dinner 2 enchilidas(made with mince beef and masses of salad, one glass of wine, three coffees and two glasses of grapefruit juice.
Today so far, handful of raisins for brekkie, 2 weetabix with s s milk and cup coffee, just had two chocy digestives as fed up, just had a meeting with ds1 teacher, hes doing really bad at school, and has changed his gang of friends and his behaviour has gone downhill rapidly. Sorry to bore you all

MrsFish · 28/11/2006 18:48

Don't worry, if it helps get it off your chest

Sounds like you have been very good the last two days, don't despair

MrsFish · 28/11/2006 19:31

Today

Brekkie - kiwi fruit, small banana, 4 slices peach, 2 cups of tea

11am-12noon walk to local villiage (3 miles round trip)

Lunch - 6oz jacket spud and bolognaise

2pm - 3.30pm Gym

Tea - Breaded Hake fillet with roasted veg, 6 oven chips and ketchup. 1 glass of red wine.

Steps to now - 14,160 - 6.7miles - 765 cals burned

costababe · 28/11/2006 20:27

Well, I gave in to one more chocy digestive! but had 1 slice of homemade quiche and masses of salad for dinner. We are sharing a bottle of red tonight, as we are off on our trip tomorrow morning first break we have all had together as a family in nearly two years, first proper time off dp has had in six months.
I will resolve to be good for brekkie and lunches and then have a bit of what I fancy in the evenings, will try to check in on Friday with weight, if not, back on Tuesday with confessions!!
Have a good week everyone, and stay positive.

loopity · 28/11/2006 20:33

Hi everyone

Today's food
Breakfast - toast and tea (one slice)

Lunch - half of pkt chicken and bacon sandwich, special k bar

Dinner - was meant to be making proper dinner but was busy all afternoon, then realised I had forgotten to take chicken out of freezer - doh! So ended up with a takeaway - shared a thai curry and boiled rice with dh (I had about one-quarter!) and a few chips (couldn't resist)

PS Enjoy your trip costababe

BTW Mrs fish - Just wondering, how do you work out calorie counts - do you use a book?

OP posts:
MrsFish · 28/11/2006 20:37

A lot of it comes from years of dieting

Also my mum ran slimming clubs for 30 years so I just picked it up along the way by asking her. The times I am not sure, I will look in my calorie book. Needs updating though as it is a few years old. Every now and then they have one as a supplement in the Slimming Magazine mag. I must start looking out for it

loopity · 28/11/2006 20:43

Thanks! Must look out for one myself. I know the WW points value for most foods as I used to go there. Got fed up using points system because I started to underestimate or "forget" to point. Think I'll stick to cal counting instead - how many cals should we aiming for each day?

Plus, wine is my downfall - if I cut it out I would probably lose the lbs very quickly

Enjoy your break costababe. Sorry to hear your ds is having problems at school. It's good that you are aware of it though, you can keep an eye on him.

Todays food.
Breakfast 2 satsumas and an apple.
Lunch some left over chickpeas casserole with a small slice of brown bread and a rivita with low fat flora.
Dinner the rest of the chickpea casserole with 2 slices of brown bread with nothing on and some humous on the side.
Snacks a few grapes and 2 apples.

Loopity, do you like sparkling water? I try and just drink lots of water during the day then in the evening I enjoy having a glass of sparkling water. I used to drink diet coke in the eves but am trying not to have it everyday anymore. I used to go through liters and liters a week. I just have it when I'm out in a resturant or something.
A bottle of wine has 700cals init. It's quite alot. If you didn't have those extra cals each evening you would lose weight faster.
Maybe you could cut back to half a glass an evening, just drink it slow and saver it .

Steps today 9226.
Yesturday 10038.

MrsFish · 28/11/2006 21:02

If you have about a stone to lose, you need to be aiming for 1250 a day, the closer you get to your target if it isn't dropping, drop cals to 1000. The plan once you get to target is to start upping your calories by 100 calories a week until you get to your plateau. I've never reached this goal

lornaloo · 28/11/2006 21:02

Thats ment to say 700 cals in it not init....lol

lornaloo · 28/11/2006 21:05

Just to clarify, I'm not implying that you have a whole bottle each night. I know you dont. Post sounded as though I thought you were having an extra 700 cals a day in wine sorry didn't word it very well.

loopity · 28/11/2006 22:49

Don't worry lornaloo - didn't take it that way at all

But that's a scary amount of cals in a bottle of wine and I would have a glass or two of red some evenings. Think I might stock up on some nice flavoured waters or similar instead.

Mrs fish - thanks for cal information - think I'm probably taking in too many cals each day at the moment and hence the plateau - no weight loss for a few weeks now. Will need to cut down to around 1000 a day I think. Anyone any menu ideas for this?

OP posts:
lornaloo · 28/11/2006 23:33

Perhaps you could have someting like porridge for brek with skimmed milk. That is if you like porridge, personally I don't so this week I have been having fruit. Or you could have 2 slices of wholemeal toast with poached egg on and low fat spread.
Baxters soups good for lunch, half a can only has something like 90cals, thats nice with a rivita dipped in or something. Or a whole meal pitta with egg white for lunch. Egg white had hardly any fat or cals in it.
Dinners, meat and veg is always a good one. A stew. Nice chuncky homemade soup. Pasta with a home made tomato sauce. A big salad. Brown rice with roast veg. Get some of that spray light oil for roasting its alot better.
And like I always say loads of water helps flush everything out. Make sure you drink loads of it.

loopity · 28/11/2006 23:39

Thanks lornaloo

Will get back on the porridge for breakfast and try to stick to soup for lunch. I cook most of our meals from scratch so they are healthy but will really check the portions from now on. I also really need to up my water intake as you say, I probably don't drink anywhere near enough.

I normally do a fair bit of exercise - swimming and running, but have lapsed a bit recently (the running in particular, too cold outside ) - so that's another area that needs attention.

OP posts:
lornaloo · 29/11/2006 08:58

Think of it this way. Eat 1300 cals a day which is enough to lose weight without exercise so if you do do some its an added bonus. Thats how I think of it.

I'm going up town today with 2 friends for lunch, then I'm going to see christina aguliara tonight with a friend. I'm quite exited. I'm going with my diet obsessive friend. She hasn't eat bread pizza chocolate or crisps in years. She has porrige with skimmed milk for brek a low fat soup for lunch and a healthy dinner no later than 7pm. She's been like this for years. So this means I will be good ordering lunch and that will prob be all I eat other than what I've just had for brekki.

Had a horrible dream last night. I woke up crying it was so so horrible. It left me feeling really upset for ages.

loopity · 29/11/2006 09:09

hi lornaloo - hope you're feeling wee bit better now.
Just booked ds2 into gym creche so will be going there this morning.

Going to make bowl of porridge now. Think we'll have quick snack at the gym so will probably have bowl of soup. Tonight will be the chicken dinner I was meant to make last night with loads of veggies.

Enjoy the concert

Enjoy the concert Lornaloo, should be fab ;)

I'm off to my SiL's today so no chance of snacking. All this talk of porridge, think I will go and get myself some now

Marls001 · 29/11/2006 11:33

Hi all - Have been v. ill; now on 4th day antibiotic and feeling much better ... tho' up from 4am today, with 3-month old! We were hoping he'd sleep at least 5 hours at a time by this point!!

Kept calorie count yesterday. Have never done it before. Mom blessed me with no food issues so I thought (still think, actually, if I were to keep it up) that if I thought enough about food to keep track of it and/or calories ... maybe I would keep thinking about it too much, and perhaps make an issue for myself where none existed ...
But here it is, and actually quite revealing, as I know most of my days are like this. I really need to add vegetables to my diet!!

1 cup nonfat chocolate milk with Frosted Mini Wheats (500); 1/2 granola bar (90); 1 bowl turkey and rice soup (200); 1 piece pumpkin fudge (250); shake with 2 scoops whey protein, starwberries, raspberries, and whole milk (660) = 1700 calories.

25 minutes uphill treadmill walk (-200); 10 minutes' intense weights (-100).

Basal Metabolic Rate: 1,320 per day. That left 80 calories to burn in the other 23 hours of the day! Plus 40+g protein (don't always get that - this was a good day) and 2L+ water.

Making no apologies for fudge. Will be eating candy and cookies every day for the rest of my life - don't want my body to get any Big Ideas about its future treatment!

Having a weigh-in later today, so we'll see ...

Marls001 · 29/11/2006 11:35

Lornaloo - So sorry about your dream - hope your fun at the concert cancels it out!!

MrsFish · 29/11/2006 19:58

Today

Brekkie - 2 toast and gold
Lunch - Choc Chip Muffin, Banana
Dinner - Multigrain tagliatelle, pesto, philly and smoked salmon

Snacks - 1 choc truffle, 2 Hovis biscuits

Only managed 5160 steps today, aching a little from gym yesterday

Marls001 · 29/11/2006 23:11

Hi Loopity - My new gym has these Reebok balance piers- two sturdy boards connected by a stiff spring - and I was doing "crow" yoga position on one of them for a while - just wanted to see if I could do it on that contraption, so ended up practicing it about 6 times, 10-secs each. Also did isometric chin-up (just holding up my body in the chin-up position on the bar) for 40 seconds, then again for 20. I may be off with the 100-cal burn. Was guessing ... usual 1-hour routine burns about 550.

Weigh-in showed loss of about another pound, but in 2 weeks, probably won't see any improvement (just hoping it doesn't go the other way); illness has really kept me from the gym.

Plus today, cheetos for lunch. I know; disgusting! Couldn't stop myself from eating too many; now not hungry for anything "real."
