The OPT-ions are endless. We are all charged to go! Grin If negativity is not for you...

Why not try the OPTism diet. Here is a little reminder for the fridge door. After all a woman can't live on bread alone at all.

For those in a hurry...OPT-I-fast
In an emergency rush: OPT1cal -the eyes have it 'cause the mouth can't. it shed stones

The Chocolate diet allows all OPTIONS flavour. :)

Today's risotto wasn't green- success!

FavadiCacao · 12/10/2014 12:02

Redhead, sunny disposition, wicked sense of humour... are you my flatmate from uni? Grin

Risotto, I miss risotto even the green ones. Only 3kg and I can have rice, bacon, parmesan and oil (all in one meal).

Victrix · 12/10/2014 14:07

Never had a flatmate so can safely confirm there are at least two of us out there Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 12/10/2014 17:58

Hi all Favadi said maybe I could join you on here please?

Was on a paleo thread but it is a bit tumbleweedy at the mo!

I need to lose 2 or 3 stones in as may months, although any loss will be better than gaining. Am seriously contemplating weird shakes as my discipline seems to get scuppered at the least excuse.

FavadiCacao · 12/10/2014 19:46

Oh brilliant! Two of you out there... I thought I was seeing double -being the weekend and al'!Grin

Yumyum Grin, welcome to the skinny paleo! Grin Byrd and I decided to leave discipline in the corner at the weekend, Flower (Vic) left it hmm to chance to introduce Naughty to the scene... ''All evidence gone by the morning'' Grin

I have yet to get round to doing anything worthwhile with my life today, thanks to Mumsnet! My only exrcise today involved the classics...where I discovered I might up the pelvic floor ones a notch or two! Grin

This had dh and I in stitches for ages!

Have found original "savaged minmin" thread on Google Cache so am reposting for posterity...

By Bewilderedmum, 00:03 29/01/2007

After ds1 was born, I needed stitches. They removed the top half of the bed, and put me at the bottom half, with my feet in stirrups. It was a very small delivery room - in part cos I don't think they thought I was EVER going to give birth

Soo - am there, feet in stirrups, occupying the bottom half of the bed. The doctor was perched on a wheely stool thing, in this tiny delivery room, awaiting the passive arrival of my torn min-min, for his ministrations...

Aaanyway, cos of syntocinon drip, I was still honking like a good 'un, so some bright spark, propped me up on pillows , and raised the bottom part of the bed, so I didn't choke....

Unfortunately, because I am incredibly supple (tae kwon do) and had an epidural, which meant I had no feeling or control (or so I sez )

I SLID down the delivery table, past the end, past the stirrups - my feet stayed where they were in the stiruups, but the rest of me carried on..) and into the face of the waiting doctor.

Cos it was a small delivery room, he was PINNED to the wall, by my savaged min-min - honest to god, it was in his face. he shouted "HELP" in quite a distressed tone of voice, but the midwives and dh were busy with the baby..

After 38 hours of labour, and a severe sense of humour failure throughout - it suddenly returned..

The Doctor looked SO panicked - like I was wielding a sub machine gun, not a savaged min-min.

I remarked to him "I bet you didn't think you'd spend your saturday night like THIS did you!!" Then I LITERALLY pissed myself laughing - in his face...

Dh turned to me, with some irritation, and said "FGS sober up - you're a mother now!" - which made me laugh even more!! and the midwives ran to oik me up the bed - but the doctor looked distinctly nervous - he did a FABULOUS job of my stitches - afterwards, I hardly knew they were there -

mind you - by this point, he was prolly so freaked out by my min-min, that he thought if he didn't do a good job, my min would find out where he lived, and would come and burn his house down....^

Grin Grin Grin at the tale of the savaged minmin!!!

I have had a lovely, and very foody weekend rounded off by some fabulous steak & chips followed by the last of the wine & the coconut cheesecake. Dread to think what the scales would say if I got on them now so back on the case tomorrow.

10 days or so of proper discipline before Chinese nosh up for DH's birthday and then another week of behaving myself before I weigh again by which time I hope to be well under the 16st mark, having started the year at 17st 2lb.

Still have a long way to go. I'd like to eventually get down to 10st or a size 12, whichever comes first but for now I'm working on being a comfortable size 18 in time for my friend's 40th birthday party at the beginning of January.

Victrix · 12/10/2014 23:03

Grin I love a trawl through Classics- much better than being productive!

Back on the wagon today, I'll be in the 9s by Friday I reckon Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 13/10/2014 00:32
Bear

Ha ha min min Grin how is that physically possible? Confused

Ok skinny paleo starts err tomorrow ... as in after I wake up ... not right now even though it is technically monday, because I have finished work work and mumsnetting and now have ironing and shit to do Grin

bad language is ok on this fred? Feels very unpaleo Grin

Victrix · 13/10/2014 13:04

I doubt cavemen were worried about a bit of swearing Wink

10st 1 today. So close to a 9!

FavadiCacao · 13/10/2014 19:53

I'm pretty sure Grok invented bad language! Grin

You'll get there before Friday, Vic.

I braved the scales, Byrd! No Change, Yippee! I'm glad you had a lovely time. I'm going to try best behaviour for the next 10 days before a birthday clebration too Grin

I'm so hungry, having just got back and waiting for dinner to cook. Just basic sole fillet with fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, spring onions served with crispy cabbage (1cabbage, 5 mls olive oil, salt and in the oven until crispy). :)

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 13/10/2014 23:14

clean eating but not clean language - well done on weightloss! Going to have a look back through the thread for some meal ideas

FavadiCacao · 14/10/2014 12:42

What kind of diet are you hoping to follow? I/we'll try to come up for ideas. :) How detailed would you like the ideas/recipes?

Breakfast was 1/2 of honeydew melon -roughly 500g- I needed the carbs to keep up with Tracy. (Really love the body shape I'm achieving with her) :)
I was going to have eggs after the exrcise but got derailed, so the eggs are for lunch. Today SDM has tomatoes (which I view unlimited) on the menu, so I'm poaching my eggs in tomato (tinned tomatoes, onion, parsley, salt and pepper and 2/3mls olive oil to get the onion sweating) and serving them on grilled aubergine slices.

I don't have any mince for burgers, so I'm making beef olives (stuffing:boiled egg, celery, carrot) in part stock, part ragu from the freezer with the last of the runner beans- in the pressure cooker for celerity. :)

OP posts:
FavadiCacao · 15/10/2014 09:41

0.5kg down. :)
I can fit in almost all size 10s bottoms, some more confotably than others, but I can fit in them and go out in them. Grin I'm not sure I'll ever fit back into any of my size 10 dresses, as I just about fit in size 12 tops and I hope the next 2.5kg are going to go from the little tummy I have left and thighs. Wink I might need to buy the next level TA's dvd for that. :)

I really didn't want to start a new Fred and there are at least two of us interested in paleoish (maybe three if we include Scarsdale as low carb). Here I go...
Ds and I have been doing a course about cancer and its genetics and we came across the high dependency of cancer cells upon glucose and the ability of cancer cells to undergo glucogenesis (use of glucose) both with and without oxygen. It got me thinking a rare event these days and off to google I went. In answer to some of my questions, I found this long and tedious relative short and interesting article. I have yet to read it all as I skipped to page 26 (Is there a role for carb restriction...?) through to p31 for the conclusion (the other 20 odd pages are references!), where indeed it turns out that low carb does both helps patients with cancer as well as playing a role in prevention.

OP posts:
Victrix · 15/10/2014 19:22

Dinner was cod in tomato and basil sauce with mixed veg and quinoa. Delicious Grin

FavadiCacao · 16/10/2014 10:16

There is something about fish and tomatoes that meke it almost as moreish as battered fish! Grin

As promised, I fished out this thread in all its naked glory and not a cod piece in sight Grin

The weight is beginning to stabilise but MFP told me I have lost 9kg since 31/8. Grin In theory I would have liked to lose an extra 2.5kg but I'm now just concentrating on toning and fitting in my smallest size 10 with no bulging anywhere not even tiny.

OP posts:
FavadiCacao · 16/10/2014 10:17

meke=makes

well done favadi! I was hoping to try your version of scarsdale but it looks really hard and so much going on right now! Maybe I will just east as healthily as pos until december then try scaryscrasdale in dec Blush will check out your links in a bit!

Victrix · 16/10/2014 14:17

I really miss being Paleo, but due to stupid gallstones I need to be low fat right now Sad

That said, given that I've got so little energy right now (gallstones/anxiety/depression - yay!) I couldn't do my usual amount of meal prep so I have become a lover of frozen vegetables Grin

FavadiCacao · 16/10/2014 14:23

Oh yumyum Flowers, I am mortified if you felt pressured by me, it never was my intention. Blush
The Scarsdale can be a hard diet and I was scared when I first looked at it again, hence the nicknames I gave it: Scarcedale and Scarydale.
[hat off to WhatsgoingonEh for successfully pursuing it for months and thanks to her for mentioning it on her first thread.]

As I mentioned in another thread, I believe losing weight is about a personal journey and the only diet that is right is the one that feels comfortable for the dieter 'right now'. It's a hard enough journey filled with obstacles and emotions, we don't need the pressure to comform to any one or anyone's diet, or exercise for that matter.

The reason a loose version of the Scarsdale is working for me, right now is because I view it to be a combination of Primal and Italian principles (of which I had years of practice). I couldn't follow the sritct menu rota, so I learnt to adapt it to suit me and my family, whilst using MFP to learn how to meet the % of macros: 1 1/2 month in and the diet has evolved to a skinny Primal, where I can enjoy generous amounts of fruit guilt free and not going out of my in adding fats everywhere (nor do I feel guilty when I do). Even this latest journey has been fraught with emotions and a number learning curves.

Thank you to everyone for allowing me to recount my victories and confessions and thus being accountable to myself! Flowers

I love frozen veg, it's so versatile: it molds to sprained, injured body parts; you can learn to juggle; and it's delicious too! Grin

How are you feeling, Vic?

OP posts:
FavadiCacao · 16/10/2014 14:30

I meant are you in pain, or has it subsided? Any news on a date for op?

OP posts:
Victrix · 16/10/2014 14:40

It is extremely versatile, isn't it Grin

I'm doing OK just now Fav , The pain has finally disappeared but I'm still waiting on an op date. I know it will be before Christmas so there isn't that long to go Smile

I've decided I'm going to make a thai prawn curry for dinner tonight Smile

FavadiCacao · 16/10/2014 15:06

I'm really pleased the pain has gone and it sounds you'll be able to put your feet up for Christmas. :)

Yum to Thai curry, we're having chicken Sagwala (chicken and spinach curry) and the boys are getting fruity Pilau with it. :)
