The OPT-ions are endless. We are all charged to go! Grin If negativity is not for you...

Why not try the OPTism diet. Here is a little reminder for the fridge door. After all a woman can't live on bread alone at all.

For those in a hurry...OPT-I-fast
In an emergency rush: OPT1cal -the eyes have it 'cause the mouth can't. it shed stones

The Chocolate diet allows all OPTIONS flavour. :)

Erratic scales and unven floor sounds indeed a balancing act, Byrd! Grin

Indeed, Vic. Shall we call you Flower, for delicate is she and of a sunny disposition? Grin

OP posts:
Victrix · 04/10/2014 13:09

That seems appropriate, Fav Grin

FavadiCacao · 04/10/2014 21:32

That's settled, Flower Grin

What a busy busy bee day! My loft feels happier for the weight off its Shoulders but the car doesn't look that happy to have gained a sudden weight gain on its Derrier! Wink
On the other hand I have gained a full new wardrobe...Vintage: OPTimal comes with age. Halo is hanging dangerously low, might need to wrap it for safe keeping until Monday! :/

Tesco vanilla chai tea is delicious as a snack btw.

WyrdByrd · 05/10/2014 21:46

Are we all ready for another week then?

Did a huge shop today ready to embrace my pseudo Scarsdale eating plan for the week.

Have prepped a container full of grapefruit & orange segments for breakfast, which I'll have with a slice of toasted sunflower and chia seed bread with a scraping of light olive spread and marmite for breakfast.

Lunch either fruit salad (grapes, strawberries, mango, kiwi, nectarine, blueberries) or 'proper' salad with ham, chicken, prawns, tuna or low fat mozzarella.

Dinner - steamed veg or salad with marinated tuna, salmon or basa fillets, steak, chicken, pork or jalapeño burgers.

Have bought carrot & celery sticks & made half a dozen sugar free jellies in case I get desperate for something sweet.

At least the evening meals are straightforward - will just add carbs for DH & DH.

I'm not weighing but will take measurements at some point. Last night I got into my old favourite 'going out jeans' and a top, neither of which I've felt comfortable wearing for a good 18 months. Not only do they fit and look OK, I could get the jeans on and off without undoing them Grin !

WyrdByrd · 05/10/2014 21:47

DH & DD - I only have the one husband but if Richard Armitage starts beating my door down I may consider bigamyWink

FavadiCacao · 06/10/2014 08:51

Well done Byrd, it sounds you might have to go clothes shopping very soon you'll need a new outfit for when the door falls. Grin

Anniversary celebrations over!
I'm stepping back on the wagon, having duly cleared all evidence that is not already sitting on my hips. Wink I'm up 1.3kg. Shocking but hardly surprising.

WyrdByrd · 06/10/2014 12:54

Happy belated Anniversary Fava.

Sticking to my guns so far...bored already & cold so really craving something hot & stodgy.

Also bought slim-a-soups (40cals) so will have one of those when I get home. Have to make do with a coffee for now.

FavadiCacao · 06/10/2014 19:59

Thank you. :)

It's freezing today! Tomatoes were on today's menu, I could have made soup.
Dinner has winter warming feel: I'm cooking salmon fillets in fresh tomatoes and mushrooms with garlic, ginger, chilli, garam masala and coriander. Served with steamed cauliflower [and fragant rice (onion, ginger, cloves, cardammon, stock) for dh & ds.] :)

OP posts:
WyrdByrd · 06/10/2014 20:25

I had basa fillet in a sweet chilli marinade with green beans, baby corn, broccoli & carrots.

DH had new potatoes with his, but still looked like Hmm

Had sugar free jelly afterwards.

Really struggling at the moment though - tummy's rumbling & a friend has just had some bad news which has made me furious on her behalf & I'm desperate to reach for the biscuit tin Sad .

FavadiCacao · 06/10/2014 21:58

Flowers For your friend.
No biscuits tins! Have some Fruit: It was on the menu for dinner. :)

Your dinner sounds delicious: I feel insipred for Wednesday lunch. Flowers

I have to confess my fish was this although I'm sure it would be just as easy and much tastier to make your own.

I didn't have my slice of bread with dinner so had it toasted with a scrape of olive spread/drizzle of honey and a coffee.

I think this is going to be haaaard!

Thanks for the Thanks . Friend is OK and I'm seeing her at the weekend. She has been let down very badly by sometime she should have been able to trust and in upsetting circumstances so Angry & Sad fit her and frustrated that there's absolutely nothing I can do to help apart from plying her with wine & pizza on Friday

FavadiCacao · 07/10/2014 08:02

I was hungry the first couple of days, I couldn't sleep and I had vivid dreams of wrestling crocodiles for dinner. Grin
I started logging what I ate into MFP and found shocking how few calories I had consumed (< 500!). I was also struggling to meet the 40+% protein and 22.5% fat.
I now try to log the food before I eat it so I know how much fat (olive oil, as SDM doesn't allow coconut oil) I need to add.

It takes a little time to adjust to proportions and portions by eye, especially the proteins. :)

To put it into perspective, yesterday I had (just me not shared):
500g Honey dew melon
300g mixed salad + rocket
250g cucumber
700g fresh tomatoes (some for salad, some for cooking)
500g cauliflower
150g mushrooms
170g cold roast beef (with a little fat on)
250g salmon
~10mls olive oil
Despite being super full each meal, I barely scraped 1000cal and just about made the macros.

Down 0.4kg from yesterday! :)

OP posts:
WyrdByrd · 07/10/2014 18:03

Haven't done too badly today.

Toast and grapefruit/orange segments for breakfast

Fruit salad for lunch

Slim a soup & bag of savoury popcorn (approx 125 cals)

Just cooking pork fillet & veg for dinner

I did have a scone at work though as it was someone's birthday and was feeling particularly grumpy & weak willed this morning. Overall I don't think the calorie count will be too bad, but as we're seeing friends on Friday & Saturday & food is involved on both occasions I probably need to be a bit more disciplined.

WyrdByrd · 08/10/2014 08:04

Finally plucked up the courage to get on the scales - am 8lb down since the beginning of September and a stone down since the beginning of the year Grin . Only 3lb to go and I'll break through the next stone barrier.

FavadiCacao · 08/10/2014 09:24

Fantastic, well done! Grin

I have been sooooo Hungry this week and yesterday I couldn't stop eating. Luckily I had self-restraint couldn't be asked to go to the shops and stuck to eating salad and prawns! Down 0.6kg today. :)
Today I've gone totally mad: I can't concentrate for work but I'm all excited about cooking a 'sweet' chilli fish for lunch! Grin

I totally get the healthy food excitement Grin i had a turkey and veg stirfry last night and it was gorgeous Smile

FavadiCacao · 09/10/2014 16:42

Healthy Food Exciment!

Then, come dinner time, I started over analysing food...I counted calories, carbs, protein and spirals Shock I always loved playing with my food! Grin if impatient the cauliflower and broccoli are around the 4 min mark

Harrumph. Ordered some clothes yesterday from Next which I've tried on this evening.

Haven't quite managed to drop another dress size yet sadly Sad .

Have got a friend round for a sleepover Grin tomorrow (we've known each other since we were 4yo so we're planning to recreate the video nights of our teens but with booze!), and another couple coming to dinner & staying over on Sunday.

Tomorrow will be tricky but I'm thinking grapefruit & orange segments for breakfast and crudites & hummus for lunch should minimise any damage done in the evening.

Saturday's menu is Bloody Mary prawns, Mojito chicken with sweet potato wedges & mango and avocado salad and pina colada cheesecake. So sweet potato & pud aside not too diet busting I hope.

I'm aiming to get another half a stone off and into the next dress size by first week of November.

FavadiCacao · 10/10/2014 17:43

You'll get there, Byrd. I love your menu, please post the recipes. Enjoy the weekend. :)

I have to admit this week has been hard with Aunt Flow visiting. I have stuck at eating the right things but I ate soooooo much and -surprise, surprise!- I have only lost a net 0.2kg (plus what I had gained last weekend= minus 1.5kg).
I was also a very good girl today. Ds wanted a treat, so I bought him a gluten free pizza and I wasn't even tempted, despite the cheeky monkey making all the 'yum' noises. Carrot and coriander soup and fish for me instead! As it's Friday, there might be some wine involved :P

WyrdByrd · 10/10/2014 18:25

Hi Fava. Sorry to hear it's been a bit of a struggle this week.

The 'recipes' are really simple.

Bloody Mary prawns - mix passata with vodka, lime juice, Tabasco, Worcester sauce & celery salt to taste & serve on shredded iceberg lettuce.

Mojito Chicken - I have to confess is the product of a Schwartz packet mix, to which you add rum, oil & white wine vinegar. I also chuck in a handful of chopped fresh mint and the zest & juice of a lime. Marinate chicken for a few hours and bake in the oven.

Sweet potato wedges - obvious - wedge, toss in oil, bake until cooked - about 40 minutes.

Salad - big handful of spinach, rocket & watercress leaves topped with sliced mango, avocado, radishes & red onion rings. I don't have a dressing with it - just squeeze over some lime juice and lots of black pepper.

The cheesecake will be interesting. I've adapted a Nigella recipe but as I've been typing this I've realised I've missed out an ingredient Shock Confused , so will let you know how it turns out and the revised recipe after we've tried it... fingers crossed. The mixture tasted delicious before it went into the oven anyway, although I say it myself. Am basically making a coconut cheesecake topped with sliced pineapple soaked in a rum syrup and garnished with maraschino cherries, cocktail umbrellas & mini sparklers.

DH will look at me as if I'm bonkers when I bring that out tomorrow night - he is very much of the old school of cookery, bless him!

Victrix · 10/10/2014 19:46

Ooh, that cheesecake sounds noice!

Been forced to order a takeaway for tonight since the chicken I defrosted turned green Envy While I'm sure food poisoning is an excellent weight loss tool I'm not quite at that stage just yet- although I've still to crack the 10st barrier...

FavadiCacao · 10/10/2014 20:28

The cheese....cake! It's all about the blip cheese cake!!!! Was it soooo nauhty? Grin

Vic, I mean flower Flower, green is a difficult colour to match and co-ordinate...but I agree certain shades of green do nothing for our complexion! Grin

OP posts:
Victrix · 10/10/2014 21:20

As a pale freckled redhead green usually works for me Grin

I did enjoy my takeaway though.
