All methods of weight loss welcome, simply weigh yourself at the beginning and the end of the month and the winner gets to feel all skinny and proud!

Anyone?

Wreey, I was worried this thread would fail miserably but it hasn't!!

I'm not even thinking about tomorrow I'm just battling each day as it comes. I've really wanted to cheat today but remembered this thread and didn't, that's exactly why I started it!

Me, I'm in please!
I've been on another thread for 2 months but I want to join this one too. I've lost 1st 2 lbs over the past 2 months, but I have further to go. My biggest thing is not snacking late at night, and now I need to start toning up too.

Today I am 10st10, waist is 31, tummy 37, hips 41 (inches, obvs).

IHeartLockhart · 01/10/2014 16:57

Wow well done Spotted, that's tons to lose over 2 months! You must be doing a better job than you thought

twobambinos · 01/10/2014 17:34

iheartlockheart ill be exercising too. 7km run today. and tomorrow is my busy day i do two classes on a thurday (but none the rest of the week) i did a good cycle on the exercise bike i have gathering dust last night but that was still september.

so far so good today food wise but everything else on my list dry body brush cream etc big jiggly nope.

i too am on the short side. there seems to be a few of us on this thread. im 5ft 2 and feel that any few pounds i put on really really shows on me. so hopefully the reverse will be true too that it will only take a few pounds to start noticing a difference.

TheSpottedZebra · 01/10/2014 18:07

Is it, IHeart ? I've no idea! Tbh I've never dieted before, and I was living in a little bubble where I still thought of myself as slim when I have not been for years. I have also been reading the Slimtember thread where the crazy peeps do crazy diets and lose about a stone in a week, so I don't really know what's lots what's sustainable etc etc. I'm pleased though.

twobambinos hello from other thread! I like your list, and might copy some of it -for eg the dry body brushing (I have a brush that has languished unused for years) and the nip fab cream thing.

GirlsonFilm · 01/10/2014 18:16

Joining in a little late, I'll be starting with mfp tomorrow morning and hope to lose 1stone by 7th Nov. I need to get in gear as I've a reunion on 7th Nov and haven't seen them for twenty years (and I weigh 3st more than then ??)

Pompompompom · 01/10/2014 19:22

I'm 8 days into an 8 week sugar plan. I'm a huge fan of cake but actually only get really strong cravings in the evenings.

Weeks 1 & 2 - eat less sugar and more cheese. Sweetex and stevia is fine to use.
Weeks 3 to 6 - no sugar including no fruit sugar and no sweetex
Week 7 & 8 - start eating fruit again

ToeFluff · 01/10/2014 19:46

So then day 1 is almost out..how have we all got on?

Feel like I should share as everyone else is, I'm 5ft3 and 11st8 measured around my belly button and 41inches

My biggest was 12st11 and I got down to 10st7 about 8 months ago..then went back up to 12st3 and have been working it slowly slowly off

I'm using mfp to count cals and joined a gym today. Am a bridesmaid in May and want to be at target by then...just don't know how to work out what target should be! Grin

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 02/10/2014 01:05

How was everyone else's first day? I'll be honest. Mine was terrible. no planned meals, lead to eating what i could grab as I ran out of the door etc. Not a calorie counted. I will now log on to MFP and log as much as I can remember eating!!

Not at work tomorrow. Will try and plan a few meals. Will start the day with a cup of tea or tea instead of having nothing to eat or drink for hours....

Kleptronic · 02/10/2014 01:23

Me too if that's ok. I've got a bmi of 23, I'm 5ft 9 so get away with it, and want to lose a stone. I used to be 2 stone lighter (divorce diet! That was too thin) and I'm really feeling it. I'm at the edge of my clothes size wise and I'm not happy.

I've started Pilates twice a week and Yoga once. Not much but I've got a glass back so have to be careful. I walk my dogs too.

My waist size is ridiculous, 36 inches, but I've never had a waist. Although now I've written it down I think I've done that wrong because my bra size is 34. Hmm. Although maybe not, I do have a belly after all!

I seem to lose 4 pounds then put it on again, then go up 4 pounds then back again, and repeat. I need to stop putting so much energy in, clearly!

I'm not going to drink cider or wine but stick to vodka and diet pop. That's a low carb diet, yes? Grin

pregnantpause · 02/10/2014 07:14

Cold- I fell down to under planning yesterday too- ended up with a cone of chips for dinner- thankfully I got home early and have batch cooked a tagine for the next few work days.

As everyone seems to use mfp too my username is hayleymawr if anyone wants to add me Smile

glacierchick · 02/10/2014 08:18

Can I join too? Just had healthcheck at work. Mostly ok but weight, BMI and waist measurements all a bit too high.
My youngest is 2 years old now so can no longer use the "babyweight" excuse.

Weight: 74kg
Waist 86cm
BMI: 26

twobambinos · 02/10/2014 09:21

Day one went ok for me. I had my one treat drank my water and did my exercise.

So far today had a quick dry body brush, bit of exercise, lemon in hot water Weetabix and pear for brekkie. But I am going out for lunch later ill try be good as I have a cake date tomorrow.

Zebra I scream? That is a great loss, the max recommended is one to two pounds per week so you are bang on. Now if i lost more than 2 lbs I wouldn't say no either.

Kleptronic I'm the same lose a few pounds put it back on put on a few lose them. Same few pounds all the time.

Toefluff I can never figure out what target weight should be so for now I'm aiming for smack bang in the middle of the bmi range for my height. I don't feel good when I have a bmi of 25 and the lower end 18.5 I don't think I've ever even been that weight. But everyone is so different and it really does depend on ur frame I think.

Good luck to everyone today.

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 02/10/2014 10:51

I had a really good day yesterday...until DH came home with chocolate and crisps. Damn him! clearly my lack of willpower is his fault too I was going to go for a run after dropping the children to creche, but I was starving, so I've had my banana on toast and I'll head out for a run at lunchtime instead. I'm getting really bored running (only managed to force myself to do 20mins yesterday) so I'm going to start the bridge to 10km programme today and I'm going to do a 30 day "little black dress" challenge after each run. Trying a new bootcamp in the morning, although I'm a little scared of it, so I don't know how that will work out.

I'm very torn on the target weight. I initially planned a target bmi of 22-ish, but even 1 stone over 25bmi, I'm a size 10, and I'm a bit worried that if I go below 25 (which will be 9st10 at 5ft2) I'll look like I'm skin and bone. Vanity vs health...

twobambinos · 02/10/2014 14:16

Fruitbased isn't it gas how different people can be the same height and totally different sizes and the same weight. I'm same height as u and I'm 9st 1 and I don't always get into the size 10. I mostly tell people im a 12 but if im honest most size tens fit me now but not all.

Kleptronic · 02/10/2014 15:27

So far today I've had a costco cinnamon and raisin bagel with lurpak lighter and a Nature Valley granola bar. And about 5 cups of coffee with half spoon sugar and semi-skimmed milk.

I did an hour of Pilates with weights at lunch time. Very small weights.

I had put on 2lbs since yesterday morning!

Kleptronic · 02/10/2014 18:04

I've just calculated my BMI, BMR (basal metabolic rate, how many calories my body consumes just being a body) and my TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) on this fasting diet website. Not that I'm going to do that, mind.

Allegedly it take a deficit of 3500 calories on TDEE to burn a pound of fat. So if I drop 500 cals a day, every day, I'll lose a pound of fat a week.

Or if I did 500 cals worth of exercise a day, and stuck to my TDEE, I'd lose a pound of fat a week.

Bugger. I probably eat that many calories over in weekend fry-ups.

twobambinos · 02/10/2014 18:11

well i fell off the wagon on the second day. ate too much junk food. ill be skipping dinner because 1 what i have cooked doesnt appeal to me and 2 because im not hungry coz i ate so much junk. i have no willpower.

Kleptronic · 02/10/2014 19:12

Never mind Two, tomorrow's another day innit!

Haven't fallen off wagon yet. If I stick to soup for tea I'll be winning. Fingers crossed.

Pompompompom · 02/10/2014 19:32

Managed ok today despite being surrounded by sweet things. I will probably find tonight hard going though. It does help eating protein when I feel sugar urges though.

Regrettably I didn't weigh myself before starting my 8 week sugar programme. However my stomach looked huge on starting the diet and already after 9 days, I can see it looks less bloated.

I must admit to putting away quite a lot of sugar daily previously (mostly cake!) and I'm delighted to have managed 9 days with low refined carbs, very low sugar, more protein, more sweeteners. I've always given up previously

Pompompompom · 02/10/2014 19:35

The next step next week is going completely sugar free and cutting out sweetners for a month.

Shockingundercrackers · 02/10/2014 19:49

Someone noticed I'd lost weight today - and I got into a pair of skinny jeans I've not worn since DS2 was born... RESULT!

Still eating tonnes of healthy stuff and don't feel deprived at all after two weeks so come on, October losers, we can do this...

GirlsonFilm · 02/10/2014 19:57

I'm using mfp and although I stuck to the calories today I'm over on carbs and sugar. ..and it was the mango I had for lunch...perhaps that's where I've been going wrong all this time not the chocolate and cakes oh no

I'm currently 16st and 5'7", I've got a big birthday next May and want to have lost at least four stone by then.

Kleptronic · 02/10/2014 22:43

Bugger the mango Girls, mango is good for you! And not cake. You win!

Nice one Pom. Admire your sugar restraint. Epically out of reach for me, sadly. I'll just have to burn it off. Maybe.

Shocking. What can I say, I'm jealous. I can't fit in my jeans yet. I hope you feel good about your achievements! Grr. Grin

ToeFluff · 02/10/2014 22:47

hangs head in shame ...I had burger king today, such a shit day that salad wasn't going to cut it.

Will work extra extra hard in the gym tomorrow afternoon.
