morriszapp does it have the mg of caffeine?

Brewed tea

Black tea 8 oz. (237 mL) 14-70 mg
Black tea, decaffeinated 8 oz. (237 mL) 0-12 mg
Green tea 8 oz. (237 mL) 24-45 mg
Iced tea

Instant, prepared with water 8 oz. (237 mL) 11-47 mg
Ready-to-drink, bottled 8 oz. (237 mL) 5-40 mg

I'd say, as it's only an ingredient, it's going to be much lower but it does also contain other stuff if caffeine causes you to have anxiety -

Green tea contains two other stimulants in addition to caffeine. These substances, theobromine and theophylline, may affect heart rate and the central nervous system in a way somewhat similar to caffeine. These substances are also found in chocolate.

However -

The combined stimulant effects of caffeine, theobromine and theophylline in green tea may be balanced by another substance in the tea, the amino acid L-Theanine which simultaneously calms the nervous system and enhances concentration abilities.

MorrisZapp · 01/09/2014 13:12

Thanks laconic. There's no mg listed. I think I will have one tomorrow morning, then I have all day to get it out of my system.

I do suffer from anxiety so have to be super careful about caffeine intake.

Oh. God.

I think I'm in. (Such commitment!)

Have been humming and hawing about this all last week. Inspired by last weeks antics I bought grapefruit, and discovered that I really like them! There was half of one left so had that for my breakfast, as I intended to "Do the Blue". Then I forgot and got a coffee on the way to work - A WHOLE HOUR LATER. FFS! THEN I get to work and read on my printed off sheet in readiness for Slimtember that Day 1 breakfast doesn't even involve grapefruit. FFS x 2.
So despite these hurdles of my own creation, I'm going to proceed. Have just come out of a very stressy meeting in a freezing room, I must've been burning calories like a ninja.
Im so hungry now its unreal so off to Tesco for some fruit. Not sure how the afternoon is going to go, I need to find some all encompassing work to keep my mind off the rumbles! AND double whammy - I cant come on here for cheering on - I've vowed to myself that I'm going to work more diligently...
GOOD LUCK everyone!

GlaceCherries · 01/09/2014 13:48

Ok I'm coming out of lurking, been holding myself together physically, actually, to stop peeing with laughter since the beginning of the great 10lb thread. I find it impossible to eat "sensibly" during the school holidays (can't skip meals or sneak a secret ciggie with kids and OH around).

But... kids back to school tomorrow and will be back to some form of less-gorging.

I'm 5ft 2" but weighing in at 10st 3lb. Twin pregnancy and saggy knockers does not a pretty body make...

Fantasise about being 8.5st, but don't think I've been that weight since I was 12. A more reasonable 9.5 or 9!! stones would be fantastic. Crash dieting, here I come.

Whats why oh why isn't zoloft better known? Why is this magic pill being kept from me??

Love you all, you mad dieters Wink

Lucked · 01/09/2014 14:13

Fava thanks for the link. Are we doing protein bread, is there an alternative? There is no way I will bake anything.

Just been to the library they didn't have the Scarsdale diet but got the Duncan diet and lots of books on being apple shaped and quitting comfort eating. The woman at the desk sympathised with me, it's day one of her diet too and she is going for a rigid regime. Any librarians on here?

FavadiCacao · 01/09/2014 14:58

Lucked I can't do the bread as I react to gluten (definitely not neighbourhood friendly!). I plan to substitute the bread for an egg in the morning, more protein and veg at the other meals and if my blood sugar goes too low I'll have a piece of fruit.
You can get the book on amazon for 1p +delivery but I didn't have the book the first time and I still haven't ordered one this time (might do just out of curiosity reading).
My mum's original poster had a few instructions (others that have the book, please add/correct-perimenopausal memory here!):
Lunches are more flexible and swappable to an extent. Cold meats are cooked (plain) ham/parma ham with fat removed; braseola; any left over meat from other meals; and failing that you can have chicken breast. On days of higher fat you can swap tuna, cheese, eggs, smoked salmon.
Dinners are best to stick to but unlimited green veg means any green veg is game.
Celery can be substituted for fennel.
In the link there is a page for a shopping and a budget version which give you a better idea of substitutions can be made.
The original version suggested (dictated!) to do 2 weeks of fast weight loss, followed by 2 weeks of slower/maintainance (same menu but with extra bread, a potato or two, and a dribble of oil)

PrimalLass · 01/09/2014 15:00

I had a slice of Genius (GF) seeded bread this morning.

FavadiCacao · 01/09/2014 15:03

*braseola=bresaola.

FavadiCacao · 01/09/2014 15:07

I spotted Genius on the shelves this weekend, PrimalLass. Is it nice?
I also bought a couple of GF baking books for ds and there are a couple of primal(ish) recipes I am tempted.

PrimalLass · 01/09/2014 15:09

The seeded one is lovely. Not so bothered about the others, but better than nothing.

frankie5 · 01/09/2014 15:10

Great, I've found the crazy crash diet thread!

Lost weight the "proper" way for my holiday this summer but I've now put on half a stone in a few weeks!! Too many biscuits and cakes with my DCs..

Got a smart wedding in 2 weeks and i really need to shift a few pounds to look decent in my tight dress. Can I get from 10s8 to 10s3 in 13 days?!

I've drawn up a weight loss chart for myself and I'm going to start running too, so I'll see what I can do...

Cocolepew · 01/09/2014 15:12

I think Im allergic to salads, you should see the size of my belly Shock

Following on from my nutritious and delicious grape, I've had an apple , a hard boiled egg, an orange , teeny salad with chicken, a hard boiled egg, an apple, and grapes

It sounds like I'm doing the very hungry caterpiller diet. Omelette for dinner then bed at 5.30 so I'm not tempted to eat.

Victrix · 01/09/2014 15:17

Course you can lose it frankie - in Slimtember all things are possible.

Genius seeded bread is the nicest of the gf breads

PrimalLass · 01/09/2014 15:20

Yay, course you can Frankie.

PrimalLass · 01/09/2014 15:21

Looking forward to my other slice of bread. Everyone else is getting mash sob

FavadiCacao · 01/09/2014 15:23

Good to know about the Genius bread. :)

Deux · 01/09/2014 15:24

This is a live broadcast.

I've failed already. But this is all I've eaten so far today. If I just eat salad till bed time it won't be too detrimental will it?

I had thought I'd just ask for a plain burger, no bun, no nothing but, well, I didn't.

I think I'm going to end up having a really haphazard Slimtember at this rate.

I've been wondering for a while if I'm sensitive to gluten and good grief has my belly bloated since eating.

Hey ho.

SLIMTEMBER: Duncan from blue and tea that makes you poo
PrimalLass · 01/09/2014 15:24

I have two ordered for tomorrow. No doubt Tesco will substitute it with something like chocolate cake instead.

PrimalLass · 01/09/2014 15:25

The only way is up Deux.

Matildasmam22 · 01/09/2014 15:30

I want a happy meal

WhatsGoingOnEh · 01/09/2014 15:32

morriszapp HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO GET 21 F&S FOR A FIVER??! OMG I want to do that! Did you use your Advantage points, or shoplift, or are they still on 3 for 2?

I'd say the caffeine content was minimal. Like, trace-minimal. Just try one and see if it makes you feel weird. (If it does, I'll happily relieve you of your stash! I love them!)

Victrix · 01/09/2014 15:33

Holy hell. 10 minutes of my pilates dvd and my arms are like wet, flabby noodles. Hopefully by the end of the month they will wobble less!

My best-ever gf substitution offer was when I ordered a pizza from dominos. Got a phone call about a minute later "sorry we've sold out of gluten free bases but we can make your pizza on a normal base"

Er, no.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 01/09/2014 15:34

Yes we need a team song! Let's write the lyrics ourselves to fill up the time between pitiful, tiny meals!

I'll start:

Food glorious food,
Slimtember has started
Tea, laxative tea,
Oops no, I just sharted...
