ThanksThanksThanks It'sfab, I am sorry you didn't get more time with your friend. Could dh not have taken the kids off to a park or something and come back to get you later?

Victrix · 07/09/2014 15:24

Fav I'll swap you a halo for your cooking services Grin

itsfab that's pants Flowers can you slip the kids a shittertea to teach them a lesson?

Itsfab · 07/09/2014 15:49

The boys are 9 and 13 and my daughter is eleven. They have been horrible for about 3 years now.

I need to find a way to deal with them differently as everyone says this is what kids do. When I try ignoring they snap I am favouring the other child Hmm.

Good idea to get dh to take the kids and I wish I had thought of that but it would only have worked if my friend could then have spoken to me. We left while the food was still being eaten - kids ate, dh and I didn't have any buffet as we had had a big breakfast, - so she wasn't going to talk then which is fine. I apologised for being so rude as to leave so soon and the whole way home I wish we had stayed longer. DH really wanted me to see a lady who had befriended me as a child, and me for him to meet her, and it was an hour in the wrong direction and I think he felt if we stayed for the afternoon and still didn't get any time with her I would miss out on seeing my other friend.

Itsfab · 07/09/2014 15:53

And I have been emotionally eating all day Sad.

WaitingForMe · 07/09/2014 16:52

Well I think I was one of the fatter runners but I've completed my first half-marathon Grin

I wanted to do it in under three hours and did it in 2hrs 44mins and 29secs so I'm pretty damn happy even if I feel utterly trashed. I'm expecting a weight gain but today has been very positive body confidence wise.

So, Duncan diet starts tomorrow. If I can go couch to 13.1 miles in six months, I can lose three stone before the end of 2014.

I'd fist pump but I can't life my arms.

TheHoundsBitch · 07/09/2014 16:53

Well done waiting! Flowers

Victrix · 07/09/2014 17:03

I'll punch the air for you, waiting Grin

FavadiCacao · 07/09/2014 17:15

Victrix, I'm just waiting for skates to arrive and I'll be doing meals on wheels.Grin

Go Waiting! Wine Flowers

Fab. Kids sure know how to put us and I regularly have to ask ds if he wishes to be Stayin' alive but a good dose of Monty Phython and They might be giants, generally delivers us from evil! always makes me smile. :)
Can you go and visit your friend on your own? I too have no family nearby, so I have always left dh to look after the children when I go to visit friends (6+hrs away).

coffeeinbed · 07/09/2014 18:18

Well dome Waiting!

Fab, step away from the fridge.
Sit the little buggers down and explain to them how they make you feel and how unacceptable their behaviour was.
Tell then you're disappointed and tell them exactly why. They are old enough for a serious chat.

I did it with mine and it does help.

I was down two lbs this morning, but have taken the conscious decision to bugger the diet today.

On the eggs and grapefruit again tomorrow morning.

Itsfab · 07/09/2014 18:33

Well done Waiting. [calorie freeCake]

coffee - had the chat so many times. Nothing. They are more annoyed about no phone/computer than the fact I am angry and upset. Dismissive of the fact I won't talk to them. I think ds1 thinks I am having a tantrum Hmm.

I am one of extremes. I love them so much I can't explain it or else I can't even look at them. I have really been thinking today I shouldn't have had children. I have too many issues. Too late now though.

flightywoman · 07/09/2014 18:33

I have done the first day and I am a little hungry but resolute! When it says 'salad' I am assuming varied salad vegetables rather than just lettuce.

And I did put a little smear of marmite on my dry toast and some vinegar on my salad. But it's been ok, so far.

TwoTonTessie · 07/09/2014 20:20

Well done waiting
I start the Duncan diet tomorrow too Smile.
itsfab I only have 1 dc that drives me mad so I imagine 3 is very hard work.

FavadiCacao · 07/09/2014 20:24

I think ds1 thinks I am having a tantrum That's the unfortunate side effects of us getting upset and one of the reason we adopted humour and distraction to deflect their arguements (yes! Mine still argue and one has left home!). Our music full volume used to be funny because they hate it; now they appreciate it, well most of it. Stonewalling them until they can be civil is an effective method. We have even bought a giant cuddly duck once and put it in the middle and said the best behaved could win it (bought a second on the way back!). Bribery Rewards generally work, especially if you get them to agree to a 'then' rather than an 'if';. "Would you like TV, minecraft when we get home...then best behaviour, please".
Of course you were meant to be a mum and you are a lovely one! They are at an age I'd describe the 'ungreatful' age, it will get better. Wink

Yes, Flighty you can have mixed salad and vinegar/lemon as dressing. :) It will tell you if it needs to be green or lettuce and even then we have such a great variety, today, within the green range too. The hunger starts going away by the end of the second day.

TwoTonTessie · 07/09/2014 20:36

fava how much did you lose on the Duncan diet?

Itsfab · 07/09/2014 20:42

Thanks Fav

When DD was crying on Friday as she was severely told off by DH I just wanted to hug her Sad.

I hate not liking my children. I was so upset though. Seems all I do is punish them and moan about them.

FavadiCacao · 07/09/2014 21:23

Sorry, Tessie. Blush I'd assumed you were starting on the Scarsdale (>2.5kg lost since last Sunday). There have been some very good losses on Duncan. :)

I hate not liking my children. I'm sure you like your children, their behaviour on the other hand! Grin Even when they throw at you what feels the worst possible scenario, you still Looooove them! :)
Seems all I do is punish them. I went through a phase (until the children cottoned on) of asking my their opinion on a suitable punishement for whatever they had done- they were way harsher on themselves than I would have been! Grin
and moan We all do. How else are we supposed to keep the reputation that 'all you do is nag, nag, moan, moan'?! Wink

StairsInTheNight · 07/09/2014 21:42

Eggs seen to be the answer. Sad

I can't eat them, so planning on doing slim and save from next Monday- have horrible exam on tues/weds then out at end of week so have to wait till after that. Last time I did s&s I lost a stone in two weeks.

In mean time I shall continue with ww although it's a bit shit tbh.

Anyway, after my panic on Sat at not moving the scales I have spent two days starving (sort of) and hope to have lost a pound tomorrow. So to that end I have just necked two senna tablets.

coffeeinbed · 07/09/2014 21:43

Sorry Stairs, what's s&s?

StairsInTheNight · 07/09/2014 21:48

Slim and save.

You can have three packets a day plus a lean protein and low carb veg meal, or four packets and the veg.

No alcohol, extras or fun. It's like lighter life, but cheaper and with no support group.

Its hell for three days until ketosis kicks in. Then it's still hell but you lose shed loads of weight. You need to be properly psyched up for it, hence planning a good starting date.

I liked it because it was a sort of low carb without the meat overload. And you can still have some veg.

coffeeinbed · 07/09/2014 21:50

Oh.

I think I'll stick to the eggs and grapefruit...

StairsInTheNight · 07/09/2014 21:54

I'll let you all know if it works. I'm thinking a couple of weeks of hell would be worth it at the moment...

Wifezilla · 07/09/2014 22:02

Well the past week has been a total failure diet wise most likely because my only plan was not to eat

Never mind, I like to make things difficult so I now still have 14 days to lose 5lbs Grin

Plan this week - lots of water, maybe some eggs, cut down on diet coke (and stop being a greedy cow!!), and plenty of shitter tea. Difficulty is that we are living in a holiday flat until we move so no routine going whatsoever, and lots of days out planned with the DC, as well as final catch ups with friends.

frankie5 · 07/09/2014 22:39

Wifezilla - I also wanted to lose 5 pounds in 14 days! I am now at day 7 and I have lost 2 pounds! I hope to lose another 2 pounds over the next 7 days. I'm not brave enough to try the tea, so I have been drinking loads of normal tea and diet coke. Eating lots of fruit and veg, and if I snack then I just miss the next meal to compensate.

TwoTonTessie · 08/09/2014 05:47

Day 1 - just had my toast and tomatoes. l have been cutting down a tiny bit in preparation and was pleasantly surprised to see I had lost a 1lb since Thursday already. Onwards and upwards!

TheHoundsBitch · 08/09/2014 07:37

Right! I'm back on the wagon today!
I didn't fall off spectacularly, curry for lunch and a slice of apple cake and then just kind of ate like a normal person (zomg never happened before!) yesterday - ham salad, mackerel salad, galaxy ripple, very small lf cheese wrap + 2 more slices of cheese, peach and plain yogurt with a tiny drizzle of raw honey. And 2/3 of a mini eat natural bar that DS rejected.
If I ate like that ^^ before I wouldn't need to be doing this crazy diet!
