...but I don't know what.

I am sick of being on a diet, off a diet, on another diet, off that diet to, ad infinitum.

I desperately need to lose the two stone I put on while pregnant four years ago, but I can't seem to stick to anything. I am currently falling off the slimming world wagon, having previously tried most things out there - WW, low carb in various guises, hypno, cal counting...

Not sure what I hope to gain from posting this. I am just so fed up of it all and so fed up of being fat and needed somewhere to rant.

As you were.

Shady good luck with the baby. Please come and join us when you are ready.

Mint - I can't open the spreadsheet on my phone but thank you for doing it. I'm much too embarrassed to post my weight. 12.8. There I've said it. On line for the first time ever. So embarrassed. Can you add me to the sheet? I weigh on a sat so will report my weigh in then if that's ok.

My reasons - well I had a difficult childhood and the last few years I have tried to undo lots of the damage done. I always floated around 10-11 Strone but bad pnd left me not looking after myself and I put weight on. I'm better now (took years as I did it through sheer willpower and not medication) but feel I comfort ate to prove to myself I will never be worth anything. But I am! And I deserve to feel and look good. Aim to get to 11 stone to really get rid of the last few demons from childhood.

Sorry for the self indulgent post.

Stillstarving · 28/08/2014 11:56

Rachel my body does that too! It's water I think and it's not worth paying attention to For me it can happen after too much salty food, alcohol, weirdly tiredness- I really have to concentrate on longer term losses but I find it really bites into motivation. I'm trying to increase the water intake to get onto a more even keel Alternatively maybe your scales are wonky!

MillyMollyMandy78 · 28/08/2014 12:36

Did 20 mins of pilates dvd - first exercise I've done in an embarrassingly long time! Having beans on wholemeal toast for lunch and dinner will be pasta with lots of roast veg

sassytheFIRST · 28/08/2014 12:47

Today's the first day I haven't run at all - might go this evening but currently have 5 tween girls squawking in my living room (2 are mine, the others visitors) and can't leave them alone. I have eaten pretty carefully and drunk LOADS! of water during the last few days so hoping that keeping it up will show some happy results next tues.

So far today I've had some greek yog and fresh pineapple, plus an apple. I'll have poached eggs on toast in a bit and jacket pot with beans later. MFP reckons this is just under 900 cals (allowed 1490) so a bit of flexilbility there. I hve got to make some lemon curd shortbread later (practise for a Bake-Off style comp at a party in 2 weeks) so will have to try one - just need to stick at one!

Keep going, all.

EmpressOfBedlam · 28/08/2014 14:07

Wow that is a MEGA spreadsheet!!!

Mainly ate vegetables in one form or another yesterday and my DH is threatening to divorce me today....... So am having a less vegetably day today. Grin and we have just been to IKEA and we had meatballs but I was pleasantly surprised to see that I still have about 400 calories for tea tonight so might do a chicken tandori!

I have two bin bags full of size 16 clothes lurking somewhere in my house (only DH knows where) so I am very much hoping to be squeezing into them by crimble.

TalkinPeace · 28/08/2014 15:09

rachelagnes
weight can fluctuate quite amazingly
depending on before and after meals, before and after a poo, before and after a wee, before and after exercise

that is why it is much much better to avoid weighing yourself every day
once a week is more than enough
think about Non Scales victories
eg doing up a skirt or a top or a day without joint pain

at the moment I feel really flabby, but my weight has not gone up much - I've just not been doing my gym classes over the summer ....
toned muscle is denser than flabby muscle and they are both denser than fat
so as you get fitter you will shrink for the same scales number ITSWIM

Is it too late for me to join? I could have written the original post totally. Dd is 3 and I'm still the same weight as just after she was born! What's that all about eh?

I am pretty food obsessed and although don't snack, I do eat big meals and enjoy food.

I need to lose 2 stones too.

I have decided to start as soon as the kids are back (next week) I'm going to drop pasta and bread but still have some rice and potatoes, lots of fruit and veg and re join the gym.

I've promised myself I'll shred, or run or cycle more or walk more but the reality is I do none of that for longer than a few days and in the past I have stuck at the gym for long periods.
My confidence is pretty low and I'm avoiding social situations and hate getting dressed as nothing looks nice and I have to wear stuff I'd not normally choose to wear.

Just want to do it this time.

I do crave sweets in the evening which is an overhang from stopping smoking years ago, anyone got any tips to stop that?

Ledkr · 28/08/2014 16:16

Echo being "always on a diet and losing nothing"
I'm the only one who doesn't have a biscuit or slice of cake at work or baby group,I sit in mcds with a coffee while the kids eat burgers and it's all a waste of my time.

TalkinPeace · 28/08/2014 16:26

It is never, EVER too late to make the right decision.

Brush your teeth after supper.
If you feel the need for sweets, brush them again.

If you really think you need to eat in the evening but actually you just don't, drink a pint of water
and then eat a whole carrot - munch on it a la bugs bunny
should take a while, be good for you and not rot your teeth

but more to the point, get up and do something in the evening
turn off the telly and go read a book

if you have to eat, eat mindfully
^look at each and every bite before you put it in your mouth - no scoffing straight from the pack

AddictedtoCrunchies · 28/08/2014 18:18

Another thing I forgot to mention, I'm going to do a 100 day challenge starting on Monday, 1st September.

As well as watching my intake, I plan to do 30 minutes of exercise a day. That exercise can be:

  • walking (school run is 1m round trip)
  • running
  • swimming
  • team sport match or training

100 days takes me to 7 December which is the day of my ball, hereafter known as "2 stone d-day".

Anyone care to join me?

Greenrememberedhills · 28/08/2014 18:31

Please can I squeeze in?

I've been doing slimming world too and just can't get on with it this second time. I lost 3 st with it on my first ever diet in 2007.

Ideally I need to lose that again, as I had a stressful few years till last year and put it all on again.

Only this morning I lugged all my size 10 and 12s out of the wardrobe to actually make space for the 14s and 16s.

Greenrememberedhills · 28/08/2014 18:32

For me 1st is a good start date

ChesterDrawers · 28/08/2014 18:57

Eugggghhh, feeling rubbish again. Not sure if this is carb flu or I am genuinely ill but, euggghhh is all I can say .

Stuck with it today. Tea is in the oven so that's sorted and not felt tempted to cheat at all.

Just want to go to bed!

Chester I suggest tea, paracetamol and bed. Thanks

Clarabum · 28/08/2014 19:37

I'm currently munching on a carrot. It's not bad actually.

Greenrememberedhills · 28/08/2014 19:56

Thank you Chester. Sharing the bad cold- day three for me. The sore thrust lasted 24 hours.

Justwhateverreally · 28/08/2014 20:03

Welcome everyone the more the merrier! I need epic peer pressure...
Like the carrots idea. Will stock up. I also find red pepper slices nicely crunchy.

Ledkr · 28/08/2014 20:11

Thanks for suggestions.
I'm hoping a couple of gym trips or swimming in the evenings will bypass the sweet cravings, it's a bad habit I've developed.
Sw is no good for me, I'm too greedy and scoff way too much "free food"
Does anyone else get the 3 o clock cravings at work?
I have a great breakfast and lunch then around 3 I crave a biscuit or similar and fruit doesn't cut it.
If I eat dinner around 7 I rarely eat again but I do get the urge to eAt sweets which I don't akways but if it's in the house I do.
I just weighed myself for the first time since I got back from holiday and it's not good!!

TalkinPeace · 28/08/2014 20:12

Ledkr
What happens if you skip breakfast and just eat later in the day?

Its just that having been doing 5:2 for nearly 2 years its very clear to me that the later in the day you start eating, the less you actually need

Ledkr · 28/08/2014 20:16

Funnily enough, if I don't eAt breakfast I don't feel like eating at all for ages.
I do enjoy breakfast tho, only fruit and yogurt or porrige so not hugely fattening.
Have you lost on the 5/2?

TalkinPeace · 28/08/2014 20:18

Ledkr
I lost the stone I needed in a term and have then used it to stay at my happy weight.
THis thread is of use ....

EmpressOfBedlam · 28/08/2014 21:28

Hiya led am old DTer!

Talkin great idea re carrots, I have a few mahoosive ones left in the garden!
I turned down biscuits today because I had you in my head saying 'cakes are for birthdays' and biscuits!

Get well soon Chester
crunchies good plan! I got up and made up a reason to walk with dd for half an hour and back to the shops! then she lost all leg power so I had to push her all the way home on her scooter so that must have counted for more!!!

TalkinPeace · 28/08/2014 21:32

empress
the REAL trick to avoid cakes and stuff at work is to ask yourself
how well did all of my colleagues wash their hands before touching that plate?

Can I be a late joiner ? I'll weigh in tomorrow x
