...but I don't know what.

I am sick of being on a diet, off a diet, on another diet, off that diet to, ad infinitum.

I desperately need to lose the two stone I put on while pregnant four years ago, but I can't seem to stick to anything. I am currently falling off the slimming world wagon, having previously tried most things out there - WW, low carb in various guises, hypno, cal counting...

Not sure what I hope to gain from posting this. I am just so fed up of it all and so fed up of being fat and needed somewhere to rant.

As you were.

Am I too late to join in? I weigh 14st12 and 5'8 so that's way too fat. 2 stone by Xmas would be brilliant boost.

So that's the run done. 4.5k in 25 mins, happy with that. Now to build some good eating habits - waaay harder'

I'm 5ft 0 and 10st 2lb that's in the 'overweight' category. I have made some progress since last year and managed to lose a few pounds. Because of my height I should weigh a lot less that I do and need to be 9st 2lb to scrape into the 'healthy weight' category.

Can I possibly join in?
13 and a half stone atm. Two stone by Xmas would be utterly amazing. But for me the main thing is just to regain control of my body and not feel so bunged up and 'dirty' all the time because of the bad foods I'm eating, and the booze as well. It's like some kind of self abuse in a way, I need to practice valuing my body rather than abusing it. I've had a very stressful year and I've reacted by making food and drink my only source of pleasure, consolation and relaxation. I need to develop better coping strategies.

I'm no good with specific diets but I like the motto 'eat clean'. I did 5:2 last year and I loved the way it made me feel - really in control of what I was putting into my body. So I'll try to get back to that.

Morning all
for those who have not crossed paths with me before, I'm one of the "drill sergeants" on the 5:2 threads

have a look at my profile pics to see what 3 stone of weight loss - and keeping it off for years and years looks like

Another tip for breaking the yoyo diet cycle
Go for as few ingredients in a food as possible
ideally less than five
and if there are any you do not understand, put it back on the shelf.

Filling up low calorie - vegetables are your friend
pots of soup, stir fries, vegetable stews and curries
you can eat masses of healthy stuff, low cost, high nutrition, minimal excess calories
and DRINK MORE WATER
90% of the time you are not hungry, you are thirsty
if tempted to snack, drink a whole pint of water and wait 20 minutes Grin
bingo, you last through to the next meal time

Great advice Talkin, especially the one about going for items with few ingredients, I will take that one on board.

Day one is going well for me so far, just had a lovely salmon salad with olive oil. Now going to have a decaff coffee to set me up for the afternoon.

How did everyone get on today? I've stuck to the plan but have a bad headache now - sugar withdrawal, lack of caffeine or plain old carb flu Sad

Nice tea of belly pork slices, roasted brocolli and courgetti spaghetti fried in garlic butter after my kettle bell class. Feeling picky so might have a decaff coffee with cream and an early night.

Can I join in too? 5'6" and 14st, used to be 10 st once but would be very happy to start with loosing 2 by Christmas. I completely agree with the diet confusion. Can't see the wood for the trees.
Off for a quick pint of water now!

I love the comment about feeling bungled up and dirty as that's how I feel. I'm on holiday so eating way too much bread/carbs and cake and choc. But I can't seem to stop. Sad Sad
My only saving grace is that I've been out for three runs of 9, 6 and 10 miles. I have a half marathon on 7 Sept so am in training.
I'm going to lurk on here until next Tues am when I will post my stats. Then it's all systems go. Clean eating and no junk. Plus upping the exercise.

Are you doing the Great North Run Crunchies? I did it last year and loved it.

I got injured training for it though so haven't done much since, hence the fact I am now a stone heavier.

Would love to do it again but fear my legs aren't up for that distance any more.

Ok, am fessing up. Had a jacket potato with salad, beans and cheese for lunch, all imputed into my fitness pal. Had plain pasta, carrot from the garden and roasted salmon for tea. All good.
Then my two best friends came round with their children and we drank too much wine.... And then I ate some pineapple upsidedown cake with custard.

Ahhhhhh!!! I feel so guilty!

Sounds like we've all had good days. I had a shake for breakfast (had a few left over from VLCD), home made soup for lunch, salad with roast veg and halloumi for dinner and snacks of an apple and a peach. I'm doing ok - not too hungry but am missing wine a lot!! Off to bed soon as had a horrific day at work and need to decompress without the aid of food and booze Wink I need to try and fit in some exercise tomorrow....couldn't face going out for a walk at lunchtime as it was pouring here.

Onwards and downwards for tomorrow.....

Empress - don't sweat it too much. In my experience the most difficult bit is starting and I think your first two or three days are about gradually shedding behaviour... If you go in too hard you'll set yourself up to fail.

On that note I had marmite on toast for breakfast (THAT won't be happening again - bread and butter are totally disposable in my 'clean eating' mind), skipped lunch but drank a litre of water, then had a handful of salted almonds and a bag of McVities salt and vinegar baked thingies with a couple of gin and tonics, then chicken stew with a spoonful of mash and a couple of glasses of wine.

I could do a lot better. But I could also do a lot worse.

Just had an orange for pud and am about to have a mint tea before bed.

Onwards and upwards everyone...

Empress
Guilt is a negative emotion and will get you nowhere.
Log today onto MFP, every last bite of cake and sip of wine : admit to the calorie intake, understand why (and on a week night too Wink
and promise yourself not to do it EVER AGAIN

Booze is for weekends / on holiday
Cake is for birthdays
Treats are for when you have genuinely done something to earn it

Once you get that sussed then food becomes a pleasurable thing again

Had a good day today. Loving 5 2 and the feeling of control it gives me. Got a big day out tomorrow at a theme park so expect to be eating badly but I'm going to try eat healthy. Another fast on Thursday.

I am hoping to lose at least 2 lb this week. My tip is that when fasting be very strict with counting your 500 calories. I find it hard to do this so now I buy a ready meal just for those 2 days. That way I k kw exactly how many calories I'm. Having. The meals can be healthy or not. For example yesterday I had marks salmon fillets. Last week it was veggie sausages!

Talkin I did it two years ago for 8 months alongside exercise and lost 4 lb. This time around I'm enjoying it more and trying to focus on sticking to clean eating.

My biggest demotivator is if I stop losing weight. I'm a very slow lower and two to three months in when I haven't lost a pound I tend to let bad habits creep in. This time my focus is on health as well as weight loss. I'm hoping to start running again which I loved, and more walking.

Ooh cool line! I like it.
Thanks, am looking forward to today. Have mint on MFP so no messing!

YY cake is for birthdays. YY wine is for weekends (but it's the school holiday and therefore everyday is a weekend !! Wink )

I feel positive and that's a really good start.

Who knew that a cup of tea is 50 calories Shock

Glad everyone seems to have had a good first day. Empress dust yourself down and get back on it, it's not the one meal a week that keeps us fat, it's the other 20, so make them great and you'll be fine.

Mint would love a spreadsheet, but my Excel skills are non-existent. If anyone has the time or the inclination, that would be great.

I ended up in bed at 9pm yesterday feeling rotten, but feel much perkier today so hoping for a good one.

Foodwise plan is:
B: Scrambled eggs, butter, fried mushrooms
L: Avocado, prawns, salad, olive oil
D: Home made donner kebab (old SW recipe, but using high fat mince for LC), tzatziki, salad

No snacks, although might have a cup of Bovril this aft and a dog walk at lunch for exercise.

Really need to stay off the scales. Have problems with this and today they said the same as yesterday. Surely after a full day on plan they should be down at least half a stone, no????

Morning all.
Skipping breakfast today. Got a restaurant lunch coming up for work so will try and focus on making healthy choices - probably something fishy then! And will try to balance it out with a light dinner - probably a soup, I find the supermarket ones can be v filling but also surprisingly low in calories. I know homemade is better but hey if it stops me from making a vat of pasta then that's got to be better, right?!
