...but I don't know what.

I am sick of being on a diet, off a diet, on another diet, off that diet to, ad infinitum.

I desperately need to lose the two stone I put on while pregnant four years ago, but I can't seem to stick to anything. I am currently falling off the slimming world wagon, having previously tried most things out there - WW, low carb in various guises, hypno, cal counting...

Not sure what I hope to gain from posting this. I am just so fed up of it all and so fed up of being fat and needed somewhere to rant.

As you were.

I haven't lost again, sorry I am letting the side down. The weekend difficult as went to a party and overindulged followed by big roast on Sunday. I was pleased first week with 1lb as thought if I do that every week for a year but this has showed me I need more focus. I have lots if reasons to lose but how I'm going to do it?
Well done you guys that have lost .

ChesterDrawers · 16/09/2014 08:19

Hi everyone,

Well despite my OP, nothing has changed - sorry I've not been around for a while but glad to see you are all doing so well on the back on my original moan :)

I was on holiday last week and all dieting went out of the window. Started back LCing yesterday and have signed up for the next bootcamp which starts in two weeks.

Not been near the scales for about two weeks now, too scared to, but might brave it tomorrow.

Well done to all the losers!
1lb off for me, so I'm now 13 stone 2.
Given the amount of bad stuff I ate last week I'm pretty happy with that. This week:am focusing on doing my 10k steps and gym 3x a week. Also having more low calorie days to
balance out my weekend indulgences. Would love to hit the 12s next week.

CrumblyMumbly · 16/09/2014 13:12

1lb off for me - slow and steady but I'll get there one day! Managed 20 k on my exercise bike for 1st time and lived to tell the tale!

nutribullet · 16/09/2014 16:43

2lbs off for me but that is two weeks worth as didn't post last week. Thought I had but can't see any sign if it here. Is it that I am dreaming about dieting and entering weight loss!
Thought I might have done little better as I have been quite good. Can't deny the odd cheat so maybe they have to go. Going to really try to be snack free. Don't think I have had a snack free day for 10 years!
Well done everyone.
Exactly 100 days to Christmas today!! Whoop whoop! X

Wishfulmakeupping · 16/09/2014 17:10

Hi well done on the weight losses everyone. I've lost 1/2 pound in the last week which is better than I'd hoped as I've not been walking much or exercising as much- hopefully I get a pound off this week

Stillstarving · 16/09/2014 19:01

I have rather spectacularly gained 4 lbs which I think shows rather impressive weight gaining abilities. I'm not overly surprised as I was away for the weekend and at least some of that is fluid retention after too much alcohol and salty food. I really enjoyed the weekend so no regrets there though I could have prepared better for it. Still - 100 days left to undo the damage!

RadioMusicola · 16/09/2014 19:22

Another lb off for me! Going in the right direction and like crumbly slowly but surely...... Grin

MillyCariad · 16/09/2014 21:21

Well done on your loses. I have started back in my gym and am focusing on doing weights and power walking and hoping to tighten up, build muscle, burn fat and lose a few dress sizes. I am therefore going to avoid the scales abut concentrate on the tape measure.

Ledkr · 16/09/2014 21:56

I've forgotten my starting weight but I'm now less than I've been since I had dd who is now 3. I feel a bit fraudulent cos I obviously don't need the willpower as much because agonising pain is acting as a good deterrent lol.
I did Zumba tonight which was really good and I sweated a lot.

MillyMollyMandy78 · 16/09/2014 22:37

Stayed the same again. Just can't seem to focus. Really fed up and down on myself

MillyCariad · 17/09/2014 00:03

MillyMolly tomorrow is another day. Just start again. What are you actually doing to achieve your goal Smile

pixiespride · 17/09/2014 07:56

Starting again today ! nutribullet I am aiming to go snack free today for first time in years, the evening will be tricky Any suggestions for evenings ?

MillyMollyMandy78 · 17/09/2014 10:23

Milly - i was trying to do Slimming World again as has worked for me in past. But I have been very busy/ tired etc and have been snacking on huge amounts of junk food which is why i am not losing. I also need to start exercising regularly but find it hard to get the energy/ motivation to get going.

I'm going to try doing things a bit different from today and see how i get on. Did a huge healthy food shop last night so no excuses. I'm going to try the six weeks to OMG plan, which is mostly a low carb, high protein way of eating. I also need to commit to no snacking, especially in evenings/ weekends. I struggle most with weekends, when DH is here, and i want to join him in all the yummy stuff he buys for himself

MillyCariad · 17/09/2014 10:53

Well that sounds like a plan Milly. Good for you.
Can I ask though, you say it worked for you in the past so im guessing you lost weight on it before but you regained the weight. For me if I have regained the weight then something is not right with the way I was eating. It has to be sustainable for life so if you can see yourself doing it for the next 30 years and more then fine but if not and you feel you are/will miss out on enjoying food/life because of the limiting choices then maybe its not
for you. Low carb is another. Brilliant if you can do it for life but if you go on and off it then your body seems to become intolerant and getting into ketosis becomes more and more difficult. Diets on the whole don't work as you do it full of enthusiasm and then when you have something off plan you often give up and end up going completely overboard, bingeing and then weeks later find you have gained half a stone/more.
Im not saying that I do have any answers just that this has been my experience so far and what I find works for me now is really tuning in to my hunger signals and only eating when I am genuinely hungry and then stopping. I think a lot of the eating we do is from emotional need rather than physical need but the more you fight against having what you want to eat the more you are likely to binge.

MillyMollyMandy78 · 17/09/2014 12:40

Milly - you're post is full of honest insight! I lost 3 stone on slimming world over five years ago and put half of that back on. In theory, i could se myself as staying with it for life, but my problem is snacking and am a huge emotional eater. If i am to keep the weight off for good this is what i need to tackle. I eat when i am sad, happy, bored, tired and pretty much any other excuse. How do you tackle this? I can recognise that it is not true hungeer but i can't qctually seem to stop doing it/ curb the cravings

AddictedtoCrunchies · 17/09/2014 15:47

I decided to take my measurements last night as, although I'd lost one pound, I felt like it should have been more. So I'm going to take them monthly. I was:

42" bust (ok..ish)
37" waist Shock Shock
47" hips Shock Shock Shock (told you I had a big arse!)

14 stone 3lbs, size 9 feet, 5'11" and a size 16.

That's me Smile

Justwhateverreally · 17/09/2014 19:27

Milly Molly - it's not a diet per se but this book is v helpful at getting to the reasons behind your eating and tackling them... It's a bitlike CBT.

Sorry for brevity of previous post, on desktop site on phone because of awful new mobile site, and it doesn't like me posting much!

Anyway, I've got a copy though I haven't done the whole thing, and I liked what I read - I found it helped me understand my motivations better and develop coping strategies.
Maybe if I'd finished it last year I'd have lost all my weight by now!! Grin

thobblywighs · 17/09/2014 19:37

Hi well done on the weight losses so fat this week. I weighed on Tuesday but haven't been on since the weekend. I have lost 4lb this week although feel a bit fraudulent because it's only due to having the week from hell in work so only eating 1 meal a day in the evening. The next few weeks look like more of the same so I need to get myself sorted in terms of breakfasts and lunches that can be eaten on the run.

MillyCariad · 17/09/2014 19:45

Milly I found the Paul McKenna books totally change the way you view eating. It teaches you how to eat like a slim person who has never had any issue with eating. He tells you to eat whatever you want, anything, with several provisos, that you are genuinely hungry, eat whatever you want, savour and taste food and stop as soon as you are Satisfied. There are a few books he has done on the subject and his latest one is Emotional Eating which came out this year. There is a hypnotic cd to assist with the book. There is no cheating, no feeling bad etc. Just the relief of eating whatever you want (as long as you have no health issues which stop you eating certain foods)

RadioMusicola · 17/09/2014 20:33

Wow thobbly that's good. But YY be healthy with eating a bit more in the day. Jealous of 4lbs though!

Had a training day today, avoided the copious amounts of biscuits at morning and afternoon breaks but had sandwiches and little fried chicken things (only choices) with salad..... Feel bad!

thobblywighs · 17/09/2014 21:54

Thanks. I do need to get my act together but lunchtimes fly by and suddenly it is over and I realise I haven't eaten, or had a wee! I can't seem to update the spreadsheet sorry. Is it because I am on an iPad? I am trying the "would ...... eat that" approach, channelling my very slim friend. So far, it seems to be working!

starsinthenight · 17/09/2014 22:35

Addicted - you are bootylicious, & one fit chick too to be doing a half marathon here, half marathon there. Bet you have abs of steel & fab muscle tone.

Thobbly - wow - well done on weight loss - but sorry to hear work such a nightmare. Hope you get a break soon to rest & refuel

I've had a GREAT day food wise:
B = poached egg on slice rye bread with spinach
L = vegetable & lentil soup (cheated - Covent Gdn in a carton)
D = hot salmon flakes from M&S + big crunchy salad
Snacks - apple in the morning, & nectarine this aftn - don't normally snack, but knew had tubs of flapjacks & chocolate mini rolls in cupboard, so resisted (just !!!)
Just having glass red wine. All about 1300 cals. OK, over my 1200, but I feel v satisfied.

Realised 2 stone is rather an "unrealistic" goal - 1st goal is to get in the 11's (was 12 12, now 12 7). Then 11 1/2.

Keep up the good work everyone else - & resist temptations to snack & undo all hard work during the week Milly !!
