...but I don't know what.

I am sick of being on a diet, off a diet, on another diet, off that diet to, ad infinitum.

I desperately need to lose the two stone I put on while pregnant four years ago, but I can't seem to stick to anything. I am currently falling off the slimming world wagon, having previously tried most things out there - WW, low carb in various guises, hypno, cal counting...

Not sure what I hope to gain from posting this. I am just so fed up of it all and so fed up of being fat and needed somewhere to rant.

As you were.

Hi all, its the weekend so I am allowed Wine - well cider actually but there is not a smiley for that!

Motivation
My motivation is really simple : PAIN
I nadgered my knees when I was a teenager.
All through my 20's as the weight crept on I had more and more days of pain walking and moving each month.
By the time I was preg with DS I was in agony nearly half the month.
I was threatened with major surgery after he was born.
Simple choice : lose 3 stone or get metal knees
So I lost 3 stone in 6 months
It was effing hard (WW btw)
but the pain went down to less than a day a month
Every pound I put on is a day of pain.
Its a great motivator

TalkinPeace · 12/09/2014 18:52

PS
(now that I have fresh batteries in my keyboard!)
If you really want to motivate yourself ....
go find a rucksack or backpack .... load it up with food tins and packets up to the amount of weight you'd want rid of to get "happy weight"
carry it around the house for 10 minutes, esp up and down the stairs
now put it down
how good does that feel?
Imagine your joints feeling that much better day in day out Wink
You are worth it Smile

MillyCariad · 12/09/2014 19:31

motivation indeed Talk. Have to say my knees hurt when I crouch down and getting up is hellish. I used to do karate but it's not great on the knees.

TalkinPeace · 12/09/2014 20:06

Milly
please, please trust me : if you get the weight lost, the pain will diminish

one of my gym friends loves the fact that since she and her DH each lost several stone
they can go head first down the slide with their grand children
whats NOT to aim for?

MillyCariad · 13/09/2014 00:10

Thanks Talkin. Its not so much pain but inability to get up again. I mean I can get up but if there is something to hold onto to pull myself up then I will use it. It is definitely a very good reason to keep going though. I am finding my way at the moment. Eating less and being much more conscious and keeping my goal of being slimmer and being able to buy clothes in a smaller size or two. Am thinking of doing 14/10 fast as well so that I have a 10 hour eating window. Not sure yet, will see how it goes.

thobblywighs · 13/09/2014 07:19

That's part of my motivation too! My knees, hips and ankles hurt when I walk downstairs in the morning. Enough of that! I'm definitely going to do the rucksack thing Talk in Peace. Then every time I fancy a take away, pick it up and carry it round for a bit. I have started a little visual system too. Two jars. One has the same amount of glass pebbles in as the pounds that I need to lose. The other is empty. As I lose pounds, they move across into the empty jar (which now has 5 pebbles). They are sat on my kitchen windowsill and are less disturbing to visitors than my fat photo in a bikini which used to be on the front of the fridge!!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 13/09/2014 07:25

Went out with some old friends last night and had such a great time. How we laughed. Grin Grin
Went to my favourite restaurant (Italian) where my usual choice is breaded calamari with garlic mayo and spay carbonara. And I had....drum roll please... bruschetta followed by chicken in a tomato-y sauce with spuds and veg. And no dessert.

Feeling very smug this morning. And very hungover as I drank a shit load of wine.

Got a busy day of exercise so drinking pints of water now. Have a great day all Thanks

MillyCariad · 13/09/2014 14:43

Well done Addicted. Its all about being more mindful isn't it? That's what I am finding. Thinking before I eat. Thinking of my goal and how what I eat today will contribute to it. Im eating what I want but instead of 5 squares of chocolate, only having one and letting it melt ever so slowly on my tongue. Mmmmmm. Im also having frozen slices of banana and grapes. They taste like sweeties when frozen and somehow a whole lot nicer too.

TalkinPeace · 13/09/2014 20:33

Well done Addicted
DH and I had take out supper tonight : I had my fave healthy option ...
shish kebab
ie lean lamb grilled with loads of salad .....

MillyCariad · 13/09/2014 21:36

My favorite is Tandoori Prawns with salad.Grin

Justwhateverreally · 14/09/2014 08:53

Morning all! I still haven't really got back to being as good as I'd like. Feel like there's a lot of food clogging up my system now. Amazingly I haven't actually put any weight on - bit worried it might pop out from an alternate dimension and ambush me on Tuesday morning just before I weigh in - so today is definitely gym and healthy eating day.

Nocarbs · 14/09/2014 09:31

Hi all!

Started my new job 2 wks ago and I felt like I had drastically reduced my calorie intake during work hours but (I'm not going to lie !) come straight out and home to a coffee, packet of crisps and a nature valley bar!

I'm then ok and eat my dinner by 6pm.

So as much as I had been doing well in the day, I have never had a bag of crisps per day before!

This week I will swap for fruit and we will see :-)

tipp2chicago · 14/09/2014 09:54

Weighed myself this morning after a week of holidays. 207.6 so, down a little bit, but not a lot. back on the wagon now this week with MFP and whole 30. hopefully a lot better this week. DH is away for work for 2 weeks from Wednesday so the alcohol ban comes in tomorrow morning, thereby saving a bunch of cash and calories! Winner all round I reckon! It will be difficult to exercise though as nobody to watch DD so must acquire a DVD or two. Not the Shred, that woman terrifies me! Grin so I did be delighted with any recommendations to start me off!

Ledkr · 14/09/2014 09:58

Hello all.
I went out last night with my friend and danced al night. It was nice to feel more confident with a less podgy tummy. I even got chatted up a few times.
On the dark side I did have quite a few pints, but I peed most of them out or so it felt.
Must admit I am missing being able to eat hangover food. Dry toast and marmite didn't cut it. Grin

MillyCariad · 14/09/2014 10:02

tipp how about long walks with your daughter, or just playing with her at the park. Ball games, chase etc. will give you a work out too.

kaylacrackers · 14/09/2014 16:34

Hope everyone's weekend is going well. I've spent some time today making some meals (spag bol for the freezer and some vegetable soup) and am trying to organise my food for the week. I am trying to have a selection of meals in my freezer so I can just grab things out. Organisation is key!

If anyone else has any meal ideas that freeze well please share! I'm going to look on the 5:2 threads for ideas too for fasting days. I'm such a fussy eater but am gradually getting better. Small steps! I've noticed a big difference in what foods I'm enjoying now and how some or my favourite foods make me feel really crappy.

RadioMusicola · 14/09/2014 20:01

Hello all!!

I have stuck to my calories all week but I seem to lose it at the weekend and drink wine and eat the wrong stuff. I am still mindful and have stopped snacking but still.

Looking forward to a Tuesday weigh in!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 15/09/2014 07:52

Morning all.
Sneaky weigh in today and I haven't lost HOWEVER I feel loads better as I've been doing loads of exercise. Everything seems tighter if you know what I mean and I've lost a lot of bloat.
So I'm going to carry on as I am and see where the week takes me. Bristol half in Sunday so need to carb up towards the end of the week.
Have a great day all Thanks

Justwhateverreally · 15/09/2014 09:11

Hi all! I need to go to the gym today to meet my 3x this week goal.
No weight off so far. Hoping to have a v g day today and maybe the odd sneaky pound will shift...

kaylacrackers · 15/09/2014 20:28

Good luck tomorrow with WI. Think I may have lost about 1 lb so will see in the morning!

starsinthenight · 15/09/2014 21:03

Power walk this morning with dog and nattering with a friend - but certainly not enough exercise to burn-off my indulgences over the weekend. Tomorrow morning looms!

kaylacrackers · 16/09/2014 07:01

Woo 2.5lbs lost this week! Very happy with that. Will update spreadsheet later today or tomorrow.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 16/09/2014 07:02

Week 2 and 1lb off for me. Feeling good too Thanks

antarctic · 16/09/2014 07:12

1lb on for me this week - bother. It was my DD's birthday on Sat and party on Sun so it's possible I had a tiny bit too much cake!

Still feeling motivated for next week. I've updated the spreadsheet.

starsinthenight · 16/09/2014 07:13

2.5 lbs off for me! Good luck everyone else Smile
