...but I don't know what.

I am sick of being on a diet, off a diet, on another diet, off that diet to, ad infinitum.

I desperately need to lose the two stone I put on while pregnant four years ago, but I can't seem to stick to anything. I am currently falling off the slimming world wagon, having previously tried most things out there - WW, low carb in various guises, hypno, cal counting...

Not sure what I hope to gain from posting this. I am just so fed up of it all and so fed up of being fat and needed somewhere to rant.

As you were.

ha ha Mint. Funnily enough, since doing mindful eating for years I never really have more than a strip or two of a bar now. But years ago when I used to diet, I could easily polish of a couple of bars. Now I don't diet, chocolate doesn't bother me. Smile

JeniJones · 04/09/2014 00:16

Are you feeling better though Mint?

antarctic · 04/09/2014 07:13

Don't worry mint. Today's a new day!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 04/09/2014 07:54

I know you shouldn't weigh every day. I know. But I do because it's.a.motivator for me.
And, on day 3, the scales are going in the right direction. Grin

After a summer of running and swimming, I went back to my team sport last night. Completely different range of movement meaning I'm walking like an old woman today. Loved it though. Just got to get myself loosened now ready for my half marathon on Sunday!!

Have a great day all Thanks

ChesterDrawers · 04/09/2014 08:56

Ah Mint a girl after my own heart! It's gone though now so don't give it a second thought.

I'm so glad everyone is doing so well on my little thread. Flowers for you all.

I'm having a good week too. Two fasts done and one more planned for tomorrow, to hopefully compensate for a boozy foody Saturday. We've got friends up, which hardly ever happens so I am going to damn well enjoy myself.

Today's plan:

B: Full fat plain greek yogurt
L: Costa sandwich
D: Chicken curry and rice

All comes in at about 1,300 cals so probably need to up it a bit. I'll see how I feel anyway.

Oh and does anyone have a recipe for tomato pasta sauce? Needs to be reasonably straightforward as I'm not much of a cook. Smile

ChesterDrawers · 04/09/2014 09:36

Crunchies, here's mine...

Finely chop red onion and garlic and fry in olive oil (or Frylight) til soft, add tin of tomatoes, black pepper, any kind o herbs (fresh or dried) and half an OXO cube (veggie, chicken or beef is fine). Simmer til thickened, maybe 20 mins, stirring occasionally.

I use this as a base for loads of things and if you really simmer it down it makes a lovely pizza topping. If it gets too thick, add a bit of passata or even a slosh of water to thin it out.

You can also add any veg you fancy...mushrooms, peppers and courgettes are particularly good.

That's great thanks. Will give it a go. You haven't got a meatball recipe up your sleeve I suppose??

ChesterDrawers · 04/09/2014 13:17

For meatballs I just put mince in food processor with garlic, onions, herbs, seasoning and whizz it up (or mix with hands). Then roll into balls, brown and cook in the sauce above sauce. Sometimes I add chilli or fresh herbs.

Most of my cooking is a bit suck it and see but we're still here to tell the tale so it can't be that bad Grin

I will give it a go. Thanks Thanks

RadioMusicola · 04/09/2014 21:37

Can I just say I am loving doing MFP, it doesn't feel like a diet at all. Grin
Now I am back at work, I am very restricted by time so actually can't eat much!

Today I had a (non diet) yoghurt for breakfast, apple and dates for a snack, Amy's kitchen soup for lunch and then at home had a frozen baked potato with a whole tin of tuna in oil with loads of salad and it came in at less than my 1260 daily allowance... Brilliant!!!!!!!

Thanks again chester you are brill!

kaylacrackers · 04/09/2014 21:56

Another fast day complete. Was actually very easy today as I was busy. Starting to explore what meals I can make too.

Hope everyone else's day was ok!

starsinthenight · 04/09/2014 23:07

kayla - glad you had a better day today, and fab work Radio.

All well here, lemon & hot water done the job (relief), plus taken on-board your great advice Talk about sticking to just 3 meals.

Keep up the good work tomorrow everyone Wink Another day towards the 2 stone target!

Ledkr · 04/09/2014 23:08

Good day here too.
I took dd to the pool so plenty if tempting picnic items but I had carrot batons and fruit instead.
V low fat chilli and brown rice for tea.
I did my first Zumba class too which was hard but great fun.

HaroldCopter · 05/09/2014 08:18

Not such a great day for me yesterday, Thursday is my day at home with DS so tend to end up "picking" at things more, I find it much easier to be strict with myself at work! However I was a lot more active yesterday than I would be on a work day - we were out walking around picking blackberries all morning and then walking around the shops, and I did 30 mins jogging on the treadmill in the afternoon so hope that's offset it!

Not going to beat myself up, I want the changes I'm making to be permanent ones and there will always be days where I'm more relaxed than others. Today is a new day!

Started to look at holidays for next and even if the 2 st isn't off by Christmas it WILL be by then so I'll actually be able to feature in some holiday photos prancing around in a bikini Grin Grin

Have a good day today everyone!

Justwhateverreally · 05/09/2014 09:33

Glad the lemon trick worked stars!

Have been super good for the last three days but a little apprehensive about the weekend as that is when I have more time to snack and let my discipline slip.

Have been weighing myself every morning (I know, I know) and am down a bit but am not putting a number on it til our official weigh in on Tues. Hoping that will stop me from being complacent over the weekend...

I think I might make a nice filling tasty soup which will feel indulgent after days of salads but will hopefully keep me off the pasta and suchlike...

Any suggestions for recipes? Tuscan bacon and bean is my default I think.. A bit of meat is luxury now, I'm sticking to virtually totally veggie during the week.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 05/09/2014 10:55

Yesterday was a reasonably good day although saw a slight rise on the scales this morning. Reckon it's cos I went against the guru's advice and had a big breakfast. Sad
Back to just a banana today but I am hungry which isn't good. We have a big corporate mingle buffet lunch today but I have brought mine in and plan to eat beforehand. No curled up sandwiches for me.
Made meatballs and pasta sauce last night for tea tonight - thanks Chester. Hopefully they will taste as good as they smell. Need to carb load today and tomorrow as have a half marathon on Sunday.
Am struggling today though. Feeling meh which usually drives me to food. Just need to keep drinking and get on with my work to take my mind off it.
Have a great day. Sorry for the whine.

starsinthenight · 05/09/2014 13:10

I swear my boobs have shrunk already. Is this possible in 11 days? Hmm (boob shrinkage being a good thing for me!)

TalkinPeace · 05/09/2014 13:43

stars
yes its possible as the fat cells start to shrink

Hi all,
TRICKS FOR THE WEEKEND

  • aim for no more than two meals a day - so lunch and supper or breakfast and supper or breakfast and lunch
  • if going out for a meal, skip the one before it
  • NO SNACKING
  • no booze before Wine o clock and have a pint of water every now and then
  • nibbles before a meal are OK so long as for no more than 1/2 hour and NONE after the meal
JeniJones · 05/09/2014 20:14

Talking are the "tricks for the weekend and no snacking" for people doing fasting? Thing is I am not dieting and as I know that I will end up bingeing.

TalkinPeace · 05/09/2014 20:20

jeni
TBH they are pretty general
they are about thinking about food intake
and learning to eat like a thin person

thin people might binge - but they eat stuff all for a day or two on either side

You know those pics of Cameron Diaz scoffing a huger burger .....
she's done ADF (eating stuff all every other day) since she got into acting ...

it is not possible to be thin and eat loads
unless you are an athlete training for 5 hours a day
not in the gym chatting to friends with a coffee and a bit on the treadmill and 10 mins weights and a chatty swim and a pilates class = 5 hours
