How can I lose 10lbs before my holiday on, er, Monday?

In a panic. Was meant to start diet in May but one thing (or rather, one pizza) led to another and now I've got less than a week.

I'm 5'6" and look great at 9st 7. This morning I was 10st 11! Shiiiiiiiit!

What can I do? I really REALLY need to crash some of this off. I don't care if it's unhealthy, it's only for a few days and I can do it properly when I get home.

Any and all ideas MASSIVELY gratefully received. What are your tried and tested tricks? Thank you!

WyrdBird - Scarsdale is a diet from the 1970s, so it could well be your mum's! I love it. It's a very modern diet - low-carb, protein-heavy. He says you should eat protein bread, but I've never found a good UK source. There is a recipe to make your own though.

5madthings - losing half a stone is great! How did you do that?

I'm sitting here with a very rumbly belly. I feel your pain. Watching the Bake Off for vicarious gorging didn't really help though.

Bad Bake Off. Evil biscuits!

I just weighed in.... 10st 10! That's 3lbs better than yesterday.

Well I know I mentioned it upthread but I am on day 6 of Almased and down 8lb so far, without starving. I am doing it for a wedding at the bank holiday weekend and whilst I expect the weight loss to slow now (I am on phase 2 now which is eating 1 meal and 2 shakes a day) it really hasn't been hard. Not sure I could do it for a long term plan but as an emergency plan I would recommend it. Most reviews talk about the taste as vile but it isn't really, sort of slightly grassy and a little sweet, but not massively so. If you add vanilla it tastes like icecream, kind of. I like it with decaff coffee and cocoa as a kind of mocha.

clairewitchproject · 14/08/2014 08:08

Oh sorry - so busy doing me me me that I forgot to say - congrats on that 3 lb gone!!

WyrdByrd · 14/08/2014 08:09

Well done!

I have a very underactive thyroid so unless I do something hardcore to kickstart it, it takes forever to get moving.

I think my mum used Ryvita instead of protein bread (boak) - I will probably go for something wholemeal with lots of seeds.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 14/08/2014 08:35

Clairewitch -- 8lbs in 6 days is amazing!! How much more do you want to lose?

I had tomatoes on 1 slice of dry toast for breakfast at 7am. That's too early to eat - never again. Now all I'm allowed is fruit till I get my two eggs - woohoo - tonight.

I've woken up with a rather... Active, shall we say, tummy. I think it might be the Slimming Tea. That's renowned for turning your guts to custard. My cousin once drank a herbal SlimmaTea all day, and kept doing completely unexpected poos every time she went for a pee. They just sort of slithered out.

Just breathe in for the total duration of your holiday. Job done.

trikken · 14/08/2014 09:06

Thats really good.

Ive lost 8lbs in my weigh in this morning so pretty pleased with myself. Thats been in two weeks.

curiousgeorgie · 14/08/2014 11:12

I ate under 500 calories a day for four days, weighed myself and had gained 3lbs.

So I gave the diet up, and now here I am, 5 weeks till my holiday fatter than when I started...

I love this thread... Wink

clairewitchproject · 14/08/2014 11:28

Whatgoingon to my horror, i ought to lose 4 stone to be mid range of ideal bmi, but I have always been tits and arse and so I think 2 stone would do. I want to try to lose 1 stone by the wedding, have 10 days to go so I doubt it will happen, but 10 lb would be better than none!*whats

Zucker · 14/08/2014 12:04

I'm right there with you OP, only I'm a damned stone heavier than you are ....almost 12 bloody stone ffs.

SallyMcgally · 14/08/2014 12:07

OP your cousin over shares!

NickNackNooToYou · 14/08/2014 13:59

Before my DH weighs himself he has a good nose blow so damn attractiveWink

Finally I've lost my 'baby weight' and I'm at the weight I want to be Grin my youngest has just turned 8. Just need to tone up my wobbly bits & keep the weight off.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 14/08/2014 15:31

Update: Full & Slim is brilliant! I found it in Boots this morning and chugged one instead of lunch. BLOODY BRILLIANT. Didn't get hungry at all! Until now. Now I'm so hungry I could eat my own hand.

I managed quite well at my restaurant job today. Will my body really know the difference between fruit (what I was supposed to have) and - er - two tiny tiny chocolate truffles? I'm sure on some genetic level, they're similar. Like we share 99% of our DNA with fruit flies. Talking of which, I did have a banana too. But it wasn't the non-stop food fest it would've been if I hadn't started this thread.

About to chug another F&S. (This is not a sponsored thread.)

Oh - and I'm officially not a size 10. Went into Primark on my lunch break. Admitted defeat, bought size 12 Capri trousers. A part of me died. Sadly not my appetite.

I was going to ask what Slimming Tea was until you started talking about the slithering poos Confused

Itsfab · 14/08/2014 15:46

Well done on your 3lbs loss!

Some of us would love to be a 12....

I can't understand clothing sizes. I wear 12, 14, 16, 18 and I am not sure any fit me properly. I think I am more a 13 and 15 in some stuff.

Morning wee, weighed myself, same as the other day SadSmile.

Put on a wash load, emptied bowel, weighed myself again. 1lb down ShockGrin.

I nearly fainted when it said 13 as I thought I had gained a stone but it is lovely to be 11 something even though it is still too much.

Went on a two hour walk today, beef chilli pittas for lunch and I am having left over coronation chicken with rice for tea which sounds okay to me.

BoyCat looking skinny so he has had some treats Grin.

LucasNorthCanSpookMeAnytime · 14/08/2014 15:51

OP, you can't properly lose fat in that short a time but if you are happy with a 'fake' weight loss where you feel good about the scales but it isn't actual fat loss then you need to get into ketosis - I would do Dukan attack phase. You won't be hungry at all but, as others have mentioned, you'll lose a lot of water and glycogen, probably about half a stone. But as soon as you come out of ketosis you will prob gain about 4lbs back.

I am doing Slim & Save (like a cheap version of Cambridge Diet) and I am evangelical about it! The first 3 days or so can be tough whilst you get into ketosis but after that you don't get at all hungry and the weight falls off you - a stone per month is average. And the food is delicious and you can have a normal-ish meal in the evenings if you want. I have struggled with my weight since I was about 15 and spent years yo-yo-ing. But since I found this diet I can finally know that I'm going to get to my goal, instead of before where it was 'well it probably won't happen but I'll lose a stone or so and see what happens after that'. I was always one of the there's no such thing as a quick fix brigade - but now I know there is :) I wish I'd discovered it years ago and I can't recommend it highly enough. I used to find it soul-destroying to know that it would take at least a year of sensible eating and exercise to get the weight off but I know I can do this in 3 or 4 months and then it's DONE. I swear I'm not working for them :) The only thing that's reeeeeeally hard for me is no alcohol

5madthings · 14/08/2014 16:36

I have lost the weight by exercising, haven't watched what I have Bern eating that is my plan now though ad I have platued!

I am lucky in that as soon as I up my exercise I lose weight easily. Have lost two inches off my waist. It's def worth watching measurements as well as weight.

I have been running three times a week and doing exercise dvds if it's too wet to run and a bunch of toning exercises, tummy crunches etc.

HappyYoni · 14/08/2014 17:23

This thread is inspiring. Unfortunately I have just read the whole thing whilst eating an entire pack of chocolate fingers. But spiritually I'm right there with you guys!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 14/08/2014 18:06

LOL at losing a pound after a poo! Or maybe it was the laundry? Ariel should use that in a campaign.

TRIKKEN - congrats on your 8lb loss! That's great! Can you feel the difference in clothes? Jeans fitting easier?

LUCASNORTH - I can completely understand why you're preferring a faster weight loss. Bloody WW with its "lose half a gram every 10 years or you'll pile it all back on" philosophy has always made me suspicious. Funny how a subscription-based diet seems to want its members members to lose weight slowly... My beloved Scarsdale diet (hark angels sing) said it encourages fast weightloss because otherwise people get disheartened and give up. I should really do that diet again.

I am watching closely, as need to shit 18lb in 7 weeks.

Have been steadily losing about 1lb a week, but that is nowhere enough to get me into my wedding dress.Shock
