How can I lose 10lbs before my holiday on, er, Monday?

WhatsGoingOnEh · 12/08/2014 23:47

In a panic. Was meant to start diet in May but one thing (or rather, one pizza) led to another and now I've got less than a week.

I'm 5'6" and look great at 9st 7. This morning I was 10st 11! Shiiiiiiiit!

What can I do? I really REALLY need to crash some of this off. I don't care if it's unhealthy, it's only for a few days and I can do it properly when I get home.

Any and all ideas MASSIVELY gratefully received. What are your tried and tested tricks? Thank you!

This

I did it two weeks ago and lost 7lb. I'm going to do it again in a week or so.

AtSea1979 · 13/08/2014 09:34

Intermittent fast

AtSea1979 · 13/08/2014 09:34

Sorry pressed too soon. Every other day. Lots of water, sleep, exercise.

Floccinaucinihilipilificate · 13/08/2014 09:36

Pah. Just go and buy some new clothes.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 13/08/2014 09:42

I need to lose 14lbs before my holiday on Friday. Grin

I've being doing the No More Trouble Zones DVD and can definitely see a difference. I haven't lost any weight though.

Bingbongbinglybunglyboo · 13/08/2014 10:32

Go to primark, buy some new bigger clothes, have a coffee and cake while you are out, have a great holiday. Buy 'fat is a feminist issue' to read on holiday. ( haven't read it yet but is on my reading list!)

WhatsGoingOnEh · 13/08/2014 10:36

God, you are all wonderful - thank you! Last night I went to bed hungry so I'm going to step on the scales right now to see where I'm starting from... Hold on... This is a live update! I need you to stay here in case it's bad news. Remove all knives from my house! Not cos I'm suicidal, but to stop me cutting another doorstep of bread...

TEN STONE THIRTEEN. How the FUCK did this happen?! It's like I went straight from 9st7 to 11 stone without touching any of the 10-stone bits in-between.

Fuckity fuck fuck.

Those little bands you wear in your ponytail - how much do they weigh? It's the only thing I've got on except last night's mascara (two pounds? It's a waterproof one, quite clumpy) and old fake tan. Could the fake tan have seeped inside my skin over time? Are my organs encrusted with old layers of it? I've even cut my toenails and Footner-ed my feet so it's not even that.

My hair's quite long now - could that be half a stone?

This is AWFUL. I worked so hard to lose 3st a couple of years ago and I've piled half of it back on in 6 months.

I love the look of the diet margaritasbythesea posted. The link's here for anyone else.

It's tomatoes, eggs, chicken and grapefruit. Sadly I'm not allergic to any of those, which is a shame as that'd boost the loss.

10st 13! One big sandwich and I'm back in the 11s! THIS CAN NOT HAPPEN. I feel I'm standing at the doors of my fat stores, desperately trying to hold them shut and prevent the fat EXPLODING through them like a scene from Titanic.

OP posts:
WhatsGoingOnEh · 13/08/2014 10:43

(Not a scene in Titanic where Kate Winslet is lying naked on a bed looking chubby, btw.)

Sorry, magaritas' link is here: www.jaduncan.com/2006/04/how-i-lost-stone-in-week.html

I can't buy new, bigger clothes. That's how the rot really sets in. No new clothes. When my current size 10 clothes stop fitting completely, I'll have to go naked.

It is totally doable. I felt a bit mad for three days but then it got better, although I usually do have a large appetite. I did cheat a bit by sometimes having the grapefruit with a fybogel just before bed. For some reason, even though I was eating a shed load of fruit, the fybogel helped keep my digestion regular. And filled me up a bit.

Floccinaucinihilipilificate · 13/08/2014 11:04

If you're really bulging over your jeans like playdoh they are not going to magically fit by Monday, unless you starve yourself. (Feel the need to point out that starving yourself is not a good idea).

If you want to be comfortable on holiday and you can afford to buy new clothes, buy them. Enjoy looking good in clothes that fit while on holiday then start on a sensible diet/exercise when you get back, if you want to lose weight.

EdithWeston · 13/08/2014 11:11

This won't help in time, but giving up red wine (and the associated cheese nibbling) really helped in the longer run.

Cocktails on holiday might help your perception of the situation?

trikken · 13/08/2014 11:21

Hmm maybe not a stone but half is definitely doable. Cut out all the crap, small portions for dinner filling up on veg, no wine or fizzy.

specialsubject · 13/08/2014 11:37

amputation.

or realise that your weight is fine, and move around a bit more on holiday.

hellsbellsmelons · 13/08/2014 11:37

Another saying 3 day diet.
I never get to end of day 3 but still manage to lose a few lbs.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 13/08/2014 15:04

You are all really helpful! I'm wearing my Zaggora hot pants and matching top. Heard of these? They're made of wetsuit material and make you sweat all your lard away. They're definitely diuretic as I've done nothing but pee this morning.

All I've had today is: 3 black coffees, 1 diet coke (I forgot the "no fizzy" rule), and this amazing 250-cal salad I discovered in Zizzi's. Prawns, broccoli and lettuce with some crushed hazelnuts on top. Really lovely. A rip off (£10!) but lovely.

I've got a pounding headache now. REALLY pounding.

Oh and I took my hairband off earlier and re-weighed myself for fun and I was a pound lighter. !! What are those things made of, lead?

OP posts:
WhatsGoingOnEh · 13/08/2014 15:05

I'm going to go to the gym in a minute when my headache calms down.

firesidechat · 13/08/2014 15:12

Are you going to starve on holiday too?

If not forget it. Any weight you loose through drastic measures is going right back on within days of normal eating. It's not worth the pain.

I would love to be below 11 stone.

Skinheadmermaid · 13/08/2014 15:23

Surprised at how against exercise everyone seems to be Confused Its much easier for me to maintain weight when i'm looking at food as fuel for my activities and muscle burns way more calories then fat. And everything looks tighter even if you don't lose as much weight.

PrimalLass · 13/08/2014 16:04

Surprised at how against exercise everyone seems to be

It won't work really quickly in the short term though.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 13/08/2014 16:05

I don't think anyone's against exercise? I know if I'd carried on going yo the gym, I wouldn't be in this mess now! It's just that losing weight is 80% food, 20% exercise, while to maintain weight it's vice versa.

But feel free to ignore me as I clearly (CLEARLY) am not an expert on this.

Three more pees, and still a banging headache. Now a sore throat is it closing up because the usual, hourly barrage of food isn't arriving?
