I have just tried to pick up some new summer clothes. Aside from my work clothes I seem to live in jeans and jogging bottoms etc, but its too hot for them though.

Popped into town thinking I'd pick up a maxi dress or two, and some linen trousers/shorts. Tried on a pair of size 20 trousers in Primark and they came nowhere near me!! Sad admittedly primark do come up soon (I am wearing size 18 trousers from George today and they are fine)

Would love to just be able to go into a normal shop, and buy something that fits, without having to walk to a special section. I had a look at the inspire range in New Look today, and its just full of really unflattering tops that all look the same!

Would also be nice to be a bit more comfortable next summer. Feel extra sticky and horrible!!

No not much will help me to feel better this weekend Lioness ... though DH did make me feel a lot better last night. Asked him what I should wear etc as I'm going to be sitting next to this friend looking like a whale - his answer was "well she runs because she doesn't have any children, and she's also never been different" bless him trying to comfort me regarding her slimness and washboard stomach!

Was that 2.5l on top of other fluids? I reckon I average about 1-1.5l of fluids in total each day.

Did you get any dinner thisisthelasttime? - I haven't really tried on any outfits as of yet - didn't get in from work till gone 9:30. Going to jump in shower in a mo to wash my hair (DH attached the shower screen again, so no relaxing bath for me tonight!). I am thinking of wearing jeans, with a black top, and a thin overlayer on top, to try and hide a multitude of sins. I've got to be realistic - whatever I wear I am still going to be a size 20, sitting next to a size 8/10! I think I might just be a little happier if every lump, bump and bulge wasn't visible!!

Hello! I have a similar goal. I am LadyGisborne on MFP - feel free to add me!

Thisisthelasttime · 04/08/2014 08:49

Hi all sorry I have not been on. Weekend did not go to good but did try and minimise the damage. I wasn't feeling well yesterday so ended up on toast and biscuits but hopefully calorie wise it was ok. 3 days now to pull back another bit and maybe lose another 1/2 or 1 lb. it really means sticking to the plan though.
Welcome senatus .
How did the dinner out go Coldfeetwarmheart ?

Lioness82 · 04/08/2014 17:37

It was on top, so I've cut back! Hope the dinner went well cold feet - your DH sounds sweet and supportive.

Hope you're felling better thisisthelasttime good luck with the rest of the week.
Lots of out of house eating this weekend - dinner at friends, buffet at function yesterday. I'm logging calories as best I can and hoping for the best!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 04/08/2014 22:56

Hi Senatus

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly thisisthelasttime - I too feel like rubbish. I have had a sore throat/swollen glands etc on and off for more than 2 weeks now. Leaving me so tired. Felt like my whole throat/mouth was swollen shut earlier Sad

We got a takeaway in the end-time was getting on and the kiddies needed to go to bed. And to be honest we were all tired and couldn't really be bothered to go to a restaurant. Weekend away was nice - spent most of Sunday with the friends as well. Had more of a chance to talk to this friend (lets call her Claire) this weekend. Obviously we don't know each other too well-connected by our hubby's really. They live a good three hours away from us, so we don't see them often. Last couple of years when we have seen them it has been at our or their wedding, so obviously not much chance to have a chat! Anyway, I don't feel as self-conscious shitty around her now. Hopefully that will improve as time goes on.
One of the first things that Claire said to me on Saturday though was "oh you've lost weight" - not too sure why she said that as I have put on a stone since I last saw her! Though I was wearing slimming black, rather than an Ivory wedding dress.....

2.5l on top of other fluids is quite a lot lioness - I aim for 2litres of fluids in total!
DH is good in some ways. He is often very careful in what he says, so as not to upset me. Though that sometimes means that he refuses to answer a question (as he doesn't think there is a right answer), or I will get "you always look lovely to me" (got that last week when I was asking him what I should wear/what I have looked nice in lately)

I'm in!

I have just got down from 'Morbidly obese' with a starting BMI of 44 to 'Obese' with a BMI of 38.5!

Very pleased with myself!

I am 17 and a bit stone, I would like to get down to 11st by next summer.

I am doing 5:2 (actually 4:3 at the moment) and in September I will be walking 4.6 miles 5 days a week.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 04/08/2014 23:46

Hi ICanHearYou

Well done for sticking to the 5:2/4:3.....I am hoping to be able to do that again one day. But I need to be ultra organised and have lots of low cal vege soups etc for those days. Every time I have tried to fast I fail. But I read the book the 5:2 diet and there seems to be real benefits to the actual fasting part.

Will you be doing the school run on foot by any chance? Or is this a set route you are planning to do every day?

OP posts:
ICanHearYou · 05/08/2014 00:04

Yes it is the school run on foot, with a 2 year old on my back!

Everyone is Amazed that I will be walking it, its only just over a mile away! Its a good 20min walk there and back, twice a day.

I am quite looking forward to it and the sexeh legs by the time the summer term comes around

I have 2x slim fast shakes with Almond milk on my fast days, it does it for me!

I have an excel spreadsheet and use that to plot my calories, basically evening out at 1300 - 1600 calories a day.

I am losing weight quite slowly by some standards (around 1.5kg a week) but I am happy with that steady, slow, comfortable weightloss. I imagine it will ramp up a bit with the walking in September but wanted to get used to the dieting first!

I did actually lose 15st in one night... that was the start of my diet...

Kicked my husband out!

Billynomates71 · 05/08/2014 00:44

Can I join? I lost weight last year from a 16 to a 12, lost about 2stone, got to 12'5lb

I used the WWapp and ran a lot. I started with the couch to 5k, but eventually got up to running 6-7k. I felt great, looked great, and thought I had really made a life difference.

Then I got a new job, and had an accident that twisted all the ligaments in my knee. No time (too busy) and no running, and am now 14'8' and a size 18.

I put so much effort into losing the weight last year, not sure I can find the impetus again. Sad

Thisisthelasttime · 05/08/2014 08:40

Hi ladies rushing out door to work but so wanted to say hi to the new ladies. You all sound so inspiring . Will catch up later

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 05/08/2014 09:22

Good on you for walking it icanhearyou, especially for carrying toddler while doing it!

Do you just have 2 slim fast shakes on fast days? any particular reason for the almond milk?
dr's always say it's better to lose it slower, as you are more likely to keep it off.

I'm sure you can do it again billy...are you able to exercise at all at the moment, or is your knee still bad?

I have a Dr appt later today. hoping I will soon shake this throat/chest infection properly and get my energy back

OP posts:
ICanHearYou · 05/08/2014 13:31

Yes 1 or 2 slim fast shakes depending on how hungry I feel.

I use almond milk because it is creamy, fills you up and isn't as calorific as whole milk. Skimmed milk is just pointless IMHO and will just make you hungrier as it contains lots of empty sugars.

The slim fast contains sugar too so I have something very low in sugar (almond milk) to accompany it. I have about 300ml of almond milk with either 1 or 2 scoops of slim fast. I generally don't have slim fast on my none-fast days (I used to) because I am getting used to eating other things now, like I had toast and tea for breakfast which was nice, I am supposed to be having an omelette for lunch but I'm not hungry. I did have a latte from the garage though which is probably why!

I am absolutely not going to eat when I am hungry and I refuse to overfill myself. My STBX made breakfast for us all the other morning (he stays over 3 times a week because I work into the night and he looks after the children in the morning) and i ate half of what he put on my plate. Just not interested in overfilling myself anymore, having much smaller portions and getting used to going to sleep hungry which is positive.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 05/08/2014 22:41

Ok. I tried almond milk when I was breastfeeding and thought dairy was upsetting dd's acid reflux. was nice with porridge, manky in milk! I might try it again to make shakes. I have phd diet whey indoors-it's a higher protein, lower sugar milkshake powder.
I've barely eaten all day because I've been so busy. Instead of coming get in and eating I should have just showered and gone to bed!

at the very least I need to be organised enough so that when I get hungry, I eat decent food! not crap!!

OP posts:
ColdFeetWarmHeart · 06/08/2014 23:42

I definitely need to plan some ALL of my meals a bit better. I need to make a conscious effort to eat foods lower in sugar and saturated fat, especially while taking Metformin.

I should be going shopping tomorrow. I will try and pick up some Almond Milk to make my shakes with. Save myself some calories, and have some good fats Smile

Going to try and start using MyFitnessPal again - even I don't log on every day to record my meals, if I use it to plan my meals hopefully I will start to make healthier choices (i.e. less sugar, less sat fat etc)

Good morning all. My ww leader told me to use soya milk but I use so little milk it seems to be a waste of money for me. I only take milk in coffee and have tea black. I eat cereal maybe once a week.
Have not had a great week overall. Now I wasn't eating bags of crisps or bar of chocolates but I was having a few biscuits here and there and an odd glass of wine. Here's hoping to be down or at least a maintain on the scales,
Have a wedding this weekend and we are stopping away for a night or 2 so that will be hard. May do plenty of dancing . Still not sure what I am going to wear.
Coldfeetwarmheart are you better now. I still feel a bit like I'm getting a flu but it's not coming out iykwim.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 07/08/2014 22:03

what is your weigh in day thisisthelasttime?

I am feeling better at the moment. I think my main problem is I haven't been looking after myself (not eating properly, or getting enough sleep/rest) - am quite run down and just seem to pick up every virus going!!
it has got to the point where I am actually craving vegetables!

OP posts:
Thisisthelasttime · 07/08/2014 22:28

Coldfeet I know what you mean. Well I was down 1.5 lb today so happy with that. That's 4lb.
Had a bit of a binge on bread today though ??

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 08/08/2014 09:36

Well done!! is that 4 lb in 1 week thisisthelasttime?

I haven't eaten anything yet today, though that's not unusual. I have tried on a new skirt that's quite nice though. and not too tight - thank you H&M!

OP posts:
Thisisthelasttime · 08/08/2014 14:18

No it's over 2 weeks coldfeet. Well done on finding a nice skirt. Have a good weekend

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 08/08/2014 22:20

I have lost 2lbs in 3 weeks, but I haven't really followed any diet as such yet. Just been making some effort to eat slightly better / drink more water. I need to make a food plan for next week. So far I have decided to have a shake for breakfast every day, instead of nothing. I am hoping that means I will eat better at lunch time.

I blame my stupid shifts for my very weird eating habits of late. I was talking with my team leader earlier, and we've both agreed that when you are working evenings, it's like you are trying to cram 2 days into one. It's true - when I worked 4 hours during the day I would pick DD up, and we'd play indoors a bit, have dinner etc. I did a certain amount of housework, and I definitely didn't attempt to run loads of errands etc before/after work. Now I spend most mornings doing loads of housework, running around parks, running back and forth to shops, and lots more. Then after getting in at 9:30 I do yet more housework/household admin. Who has time to eat??!!

OP posts:
Thisisthelasttime · 11/08/2014 19:08

Coldfeet that is good weight loss. I know the feeling about running around like a lunatic trying to squeeze in everything and then eating sandwiches etc. this week not great so far as ate loads at the wedding after. It was so lovely though. Anyway will try and be good this week. Went for a walk this afternoon that involved climbing steps and I realised I was majorly unfit. I would like to try and improve my fitness as well as losing weight.

Lioness82 · 12/08/2014 12:21

Well done cold feet I hated that shift pattern. Always felt like I was just waiting to go to work, always watching the clock.

I weighed in yesterday, 20lb lighter than I was when I started 8 1/2 weeks ago!! I'm so excited. Tried on my work trousers (teacher, school back on Thursday) - they're too big! Going shopping at weekend to get sorted (anywhere other than Matalan/H&M/supermarkets to get budget work clothes in size 18?)

I'm worried about keeping up weight loss now... I've been doing well with all the time in the world, I'm not sure I'm ready for real life. I have to break the long days and try to just work 8-6, rather than all hours like I did last year, so I have time to exercise still and clean the house again

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 12/08/2014 22:22

In some ways I really dislike this shift pattern, but it does have its benefits. Either way I'm going to have to accept it though - I shall be working these hours for a long time as we cannot afford to pay for childcare! DD doesn't start school until 2017, so got at least another 3 years of this!

Well done Lioness that's brilliant!!!
I'm sure you will be fine when you go back to work/school. Have you been doing lots of exercise? Or have you just been able to really focus on the diet during the holidays? Any chance you can schedule in your exercise before heading off to work? Then you have no excuses like parents evening/marking etc to not get it done in the evening. Even if you did just 15 mins every morning it would be better than nothing!

Btw most of my clothes these days seem to come from Asda, Matalan or H&M. I get the odd item from Next, normally in a sale. I don't go near Evans etc - far too expensive!!

OP posts:
SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 14/08/2014 07:42

Well done Lioness !

ColdFeet I would like to shop at Next more, but I live in France and the trick is that the clothes are never on sale on their EU website. So sometimes I spot a nice dress with 70% off on their UK site, only to be forced to pay full price.

I am 10lbs down since I started 17 days ago. My face looks slimmer and my size 16 jeans feel comfortable.

Thisisthelasttime · 14/08/2014 21:33

Gosh ladies you are all doing so well. They are huge weight losses. I was up 1 lb today , was not happy. Anyway back on the road to slimness today hopefully. I was feeling a bit down in myself and tend to go a bit wild when I'm like that with the eating. Good luck back in school lioness.

I love France , must be really hard with all those breads and pastries ??
