I have just tried to pick up some new summer clothes. Aside from my work clothes I seem to live in jeans and jogging bottoms etc, but its too hot for them though.

Popped into town thinking I'd pick up a maxi dress or two, and some linen trousers/shorts. Tried on a pair of size 20 trousers in Primark and they came nowhere near me!! Sad admittedly primark do come up soon (I am wearing size 18 trousers from George today and they are fine)

Would love to just be able to go into a normal shop, and buy something that fits, without having to walk to a special section. I had a look at the inspire range in New Look today, and its just full of really unflattering tops that all look the same!

Would also be nice to be a bit more comfortable next summer. Feel extra sticky and horrible!!

Hi all ,
Welcome wedontneedanother. I know what you mean re the depression about weight, that a horrible feeling.
I've been busy this week so haven't been as good as I should. Am trying to make healthier choices but it is hard. I had a major fall off the wagon on Monday night and ate a full tub of icecream. I can't believe I did that. Have been ok since.
I need to start exercising but find every excuse not too. Some major motivation needed here for excercise.
We will get there together

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 27/08/2014 18:16

Thisisthelasttime this is why you will succeed - and why I will probably fail. You had a tub of icecream. You acknowledged it. You moved on.

If I had eaten a tub of icecream, I would have thought "everything is ruined, might as well eat 2 packs of chocolate digestives as well", deleted my MFP account, disappeared from this thread and given up.

You have the right attitude!

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 27/08/2014 23:01

I did attempt to follow Jililan Michaels once - lasted a week on the Shred, and I could never quite manage the sit ups......

I do think its quite important that you try to eat a little more senatus - I know to some its sounds counter-intuitive but eating too little will just screw with your metabolism and your body will just hold on to everything that you do eat instead of processing it properly.

We all have little dips in our motivation from time to time thisisthelastime - hopefully you will have a couple of good days and you will find the motivation return.

I have just ordered a pair of winter trousers. The only size left was a 14. It means I have to lose another 1 - 1.5st before it gets too cold! Smile

All my winter coats are a 14 too. We didn't really have a winter last year in France so I was able to put on weight without buying a new one, but I really, really want to be able to wear them in November or December.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 28/08/2014 23:53

My nice winter coats (that I will wear to work) are size 12's and a size 14. I do have a light parka style coat in an 18 that will tide me over the autumn, but again I don't really want to wear that for work. Unfortunately I need to lose more than 1.5 stone to get in the size 14 coat.......more like 3 stone!!! (and the rest!)

had a bad day that lead to a binge......had an e-mail forwarded to me to say that our buyer has dropped out. Was very angry at this earlier on, as buyer did not have decency to ring me (though she has managed to ring me most days in the last month), then upset as its likely we will now lose the house we hope to buy. All this while I was stuck at work, unable to do anything productive (other than grit my teeth, and stop myself from slapping stupid people!). So I ended up eating a cheese baguette, a large packet of crisps and a treat size bag of minstrels at my desk. I felt sick driving home. I am now drinking a double baileys .............

I am so sorry about the house ColdFeet

You were under major stress and you found a cheap way to comfort yourself that did not alter your capability to work or take care of yourself and your family. Don't be too hard on yourself.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 30/08/2014 19:37

My stomach/boy didn't appreciate it last nights binge - had stomach cramps most of the day!

Thanks senatus

coldfeet I'm sorry about the house, it's terrible not to contact you. Fingers crossed for some leeway in your sellers timeframe and a new (chain less) buyer for you. (I bet you burned loads of calories with the suppressed rage anyway!)

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 01/09/2014 01:18

Thanks Lioness - although we are obviously still hoping to buy the house we have agreed on, and will be doing everything we can to do so, I am basically telling myself that we have lost it! Don't know that for sure yet. It all happened too late on Friday for me to make any phone calls. But trying to prepare myself, you know? Hope for the best, but expect the worst!!!

Just trying to take each day/thing as it comes at the moment so that I don't get too stressed and turn to more chocolate! As that just makes me hate myself more, which causes more issues with DH, which causes more stress..........vicious circle!!

Hello everyone. Are there any news ColdFeet?

I am (just) under 78kg this morning, which means I am halfway to my first goal. My BMI is now 26.96.

I have tried a few moves from the Mark Lawrence book but I find it hard to know if I am doing them right. I cannot see if my back is straight or if my legs are at the correct angle.

Thisisthelasttime · 03/09/2014 08:21

Coldfeet that is terrible, hope you get sorted out. It happened us years ago and it put us back a few months but it worked in the end.
Food choices not going great but exercising has taken off. Have done 4 days in a row of walking and am sleeping better and feeling a little trimmer. Expecting to be up on scales again but I am getting back on plan.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 03/09/2014 21:43

Moving is going full steam ahead again at the moment - buyers who pulled out called back on Monday to say they would like to proceed again!! So now doing everything I can to get to exchange of contracts asap, but I'm not letting myself get excited yet. Just waiting for the next thing to go wrong, esp as they have already let me down once!!

Well done senatus - what is your first goal?
Hard to follow exercises from books etc - sometimes you really need an instructor there to tell you if you are doing it right!

Glad to hear you are sleeping and feeling better thisisthelasttime

I went through my weight loss diary last night. I have lost 5.75lbs in 6 weeks. Quite pleased with that, especially given all what has gone on and what I have been eating etc. I hope to have got my weight loss to 7lbs by next wednesday.

That's brillaint news coldfeet both about the house and the weight loss. Well done.

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 04/09/2014 09:58

ColdFeet that must be such a relief! Congratulations on the weight loss too.

My first goal is 70kg. I have a large frame so at 70kg I am a size 12 top and 14 bottom. This is where I have always failed in the past 10 years. So I want to learn to stabilise my weight at 70kg for a few months - then we'll see. Ideally I would like to be between 60 and 65kg, but I'd much rather be 70kg for the rest of my life than go through the binge-starve cycle again.

Thisisthelasttime · 04/09/2014 11:16

Senatus I would so love to be 70kg too. I'm about 89 kg at the moment , when I see it in numbers like that I feel it is so unachievable. I did a 5.5 mile this morning so am happy with that. I have no work today so will miss my weigh in as my dh gone with the car also. I think there is about 15 weigh in to Xmas so we could all lose a stone from this week ??

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 04/09/2014 11:46

Thisisthelasttime my heaviest weight was 103kg (just before I got pregnant with DC1). It can be done. A stone lighter for Christmas sounds great!

Lioness82 · 04/09/2014 21:03

Thisisthelasttime - I'm at 89kg too -We can definitely do it!

coldfeet that's great that your buyers have come back - will keep fingers crossed for you again. Congrats on the weight loss too - that's great progress, especially with all the stress.

Thisisthelasttime · 04/09/2014 22:43

Lioness hopefully we will. Look forward to a new trimmer me .

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 07/09/2014 08:08

Good morning everyone! How is everyone doing?
We went shopping for some sports gear for DC1 and 2 yesterday. We walked a lot and the scales were down 400g this morning.
My muscles are sore because of the bodyweight training (those Bulgarian split squats are evil!)
Have a nice Sunday. Smile

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 07/09/2014 22:17

yes, this week has been a bit nicer than last weekend - everything seems to be going in the right direction for the move now (things moving on solicitors and mortgage front). will speak to solicitors in the morning to get an idea of timescales. Hopefully it won't be too long now, as we have already started to buy new stuff for the house (would be rude not to indulge in the sales!!)

Do you ladies all weigh in kg? I have always weighed in stones and pounds. Kilos mean nothing to me for my own weight, but weirdly I only use metric when cooking!!

Senatus what are bulgarian split squats???!!

OP posts:
SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 08/09/2014 09:00

It is a single leg squat, with your back leg resting on a raised surface, such as a chair. The first ones seem easy, but after a dozen my muscles start shaking.

I grew up in France, hence the use of kilograms.

ColdFeetWarmHeart · 14/09/2014 23:30

Senatus ..... that looks painful! To my knees it does anyway. I really should start a small programme like this (squats, bicep curls, sit-ups etc). Perhaps I can get this into my daily routine when we have moved and life has settled down a bit more. I seem to have loads to do every day at the moment - things kind of happen the way I need them to that day, and therefore we don't have a set routine.
Anyone know the best time of day to exercise? Should I exercise when I get home from work if I have done nothing so far that day, or should I really make an effort to exercise before work? Would that be the same for cardio and resistance work?

Got to get myself a bit sorted out. Ok so life is hectic, so there is no point in saying I'm going to run 5k a day for the next 2 months. Not going to happen. But I need to make more of an effort to make sure I take my tablets every day, and drink plenty of water.

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 18/09/2014 16:36

Hi everyone! I am back from what was supposed to be a week by the sea in the south of France. The DCs all caught D&V so we had to come back early. Sad. I am proud of myself because I stuck to my diet - I didn't even have a single ice-cream. However, the flat was tiny (we couldn't all fit in the main room) and the furniture was flimsy, so there was no way I could exercise.

ColdFeet I found that doing cardio after 6/7 PM stops me from falling asleep early (something to do with raising your body temperature), but resistance work is OK for me at all times.
When you manage to get into a new routine I am sure you will easily find what works best for you. Good luck for the next few days!

SenatusPopulusqueRomanorum · 27/09/2014 18:21

Is anyone still around?
Today I was 74.1kg, which is the lightest I have been in over two years.
When I was shopping two young men said something about how beautiful I was. Smile
