New thread for a new week.

Looking forward to seeing you later, you lot. Have to get DCs up and then take DD to her swimming lesson, so won't be around till after you'll probably have to have left. Will check in just before I leave for Oxford in case of any problems.

WigWamBam · 18/08/2006 09:10

Have fun girls

Still have fingers and toes crossed for you, Schneebly. xxx

schneebly · 18/08/2006 09:32

Thanks coppertop. Will let you guys know later what happens.

WigWamBam · 18/08/2006 09:36

I've only just spotted your other thread, schneebs. I have everything crossed for you - let us know how you get on.

Oh poo you will all be chatting away now, eating lunch. I'm here on my own about to eat a low fat sausage sandwich. Boo hoo woe is me.

JackieNo · 18/08/2006 15:24

Well as I live the nearest, I guess I'm first home. We all met up safely, and had a great time. The restaurant was OK, although I don't think any of the DCs ate very much. It was lovely to meet you suejonez, MrsJC and Littlefish, and your gorgeous DCs.

It's my first MN meetup of any sort, and it's strange to meet people that you feel you know so well, yet have never actually talked to in RL . DS was getting pretty tired by the end of the meal, so we parted company just before 2 - hope everyone else had a good journey home.

Flutterbee - if we meet in Oxford again, maybe we could meet at Didcot Parkway and go in by train together? It would be great to meet you too.

WigWamBam · 18/08/2006 16:02

Oh, so glad you had a good time. Feel really pleased for you (and very too) that it went well.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 18/08/2006 16:03

We missed you, and wished you could have been there too - hope you can make it to another one.

WigWamBam · 18/08/2006 16:09

Would love to try and come along another time.

Meanwhile ... what's the goss? Are they all lovely?

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 18/08/2006 16:11

I'm listening!

was really lovely. I do like to meet proper nice people who are just as friendly in real life as they are on here! I'm only sorry I'm buggering off to the other side of the planet and won't see much of you. but will carry on chatting here safe in the knowledge that everyone is as lovely as they seem

JackieNo · 18/08/2006 16:16

They are all lovely - and I really wanted it to all go on longer, but the DCs weren't up to it. Wanted to settle down for the afternoon with a huge cup of coffee and carry on chatting. Another time, maybe.

WigWamBam · 18/08/2006 16:45

I knew you would all be as lovely as you seem to be.

Am doubly now. I wish I lived closer to at least some of you!

OP posts:
suejonez · 18/08/2006 17:13

We WERE all lovely, weren't we?

no-one has mentioned the freaky coincidence that Littlefish and I know two people in common in real life, I'm still slightly freaked by that. One is the brother of my best friedn from school (who Littlefish admitted she didnt know very well) and the otehr someone I worked with for four years - we trained together so I knew her quite well. In fact Littlefish temped at the company I worked for just before I joined!

Small world.

suejonez · 18/08/2006 17:13

Shit, forgot the doggy bags

suejonez · 18/08/2006 17:14

and I had a v v fattening lunch. Didn't even attempt to cut down the calories though did have diet coke

JackieNo · 18/08/2006 17:20

Just after you left, the DCs demanded pudding, so after they'd rejected anything in Pret a Manger, we headed to Thorntons. And I was the only one whose kids had chips and apple juice, so am feeling a bit of a bad mummy. Didn't buy anything for me in Thorntons though (did consider it) .

JackieNo · 18/08/2006 17:21

Yes suejonez - that really was weird - it is indeed a small world.

suejonez · 18/08/2006 17:36

to be fair Jackie - I did lead your DD astray by telling her that the restaurant did ice cream so she probably felt cheated! You can tell her I was impressed by her singing - always impressed when anyone is prepared to join me in the "singing in public" lark (have I no shame?)

suejonez · 18/08/2006 17:37

I think MrsJC's DD was a bit stunned by the two of us serenading her with "twinkle twinkle little star" though.

JackieNo · 18/08/2006 17:38

It was very tuneful, I have to say. Although generally she's got DH's ear for a tune, which is to say, not much of one. She is very enthusiastic, though, so I'm loathe (or is that loath) to squash her, so to speak!

JackieNo · 18/08/2006 17:39

Yes, MrsJC's DD did look a bit bemused by the whole thing.

suejonez · 18/08/2006 17:40

well she held her tune Ok, so she's not tone deaf. Singing shouldn't be confined to those who can anyway!

JackieNo · 18/08/2006 17:41

Well quite - that's exactly what I think - singing's also very therapeutic, and definitely something to be encouraged.

MrsJohnCusack · 18/08/2006 17:42

ah, but the minute we'd dropped you off sue, I was treated to a continuous reptition of Twinkle Twinkle, interspersed with (I think) The Wheels on The Bus
I think she was struck dumb today - most unusual. She's been chatting like mad since we got back. Contrary thing
Jackie, your DD is so sweet! taking me all the way to loos to change DD, offering garlic bread and napkins to mop up the water based carnage. Very helpful
