So a new thread, a new more motivated state of mind.

We will be skinny. No more excuses.

Cusps? Crisps!

SolitudeSometimesIs · 23/11/2014 21:06

All of my clothes are out of fashion too. I had a sad look through my skinny clothes and there's stuff there I'd never wear again - quite a lot of clingy satin tops and spaghetti strapped, low cut numbers. After breast feeding 2 kids there is no way I would wear anything low cut. And as for clingy satin? Eh, no thank you.

I don't intend to buy much, maybe 3 dressy tops and a pair of really decent trousers. I had a try on session of dresses but from the rear I just look so wide. I have quite a big bum (and used to have a small waist) but it sticks out and has a good shape to it (think like Beyonce or Jennifer Lopez). But if I wear something that is poorly tailored or that flattens it, I look enormous. The shops are full of 50's style dresses that don't work on a figure like mine because they don't sit on my hips properly. So dresses are out.

I hear you with the snot covered clothes, I look like I've been slimed. And in the supermarket today I looked down to see sick trailing from my crotch to my ankles on both legs. TinySol must have vommed on me at some stage and I never noticed. I looked like a hobo.

I like your idea of reinforced underwear and tucking bits in. Belly origami!

Crisps are my downfall too. Have you had any slip ups since you have been on Exante? How long have you been on it now?

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 23/11/2014 21:45

I probably still have some satin spaghetti vests and tops too. I used to love them in 2004ish! Just thinking that lots of my tops will not be long enough. I like longer ones now. I don't think low waisted jeans will be suitable anymore either.
I used to be an hourglass too. It's slowly coming back. It is difficult to find stuff to fit though, especially on the lower half. If things aren't well fitting you look bigger than you are. I'm getting a sewing machine for Christmas from MIL so maybe I'll learn how to adjust things (doubtful, I don't know why she's got me one Confused)
I found a pair of pi's in my drawers last week that i bought a year ago. Never worn because they were too small. Now they fit. Hooray.

I've been on Exante for 6 weeks. I've amazed myself. I honestly don't feel like I've had any slip ups. Had the Chinese the other week. One Indian, but I stuck to just Chicken Madras and Saag. Fish and chips yesterday. Oh and went to the Italian on the first or second week. I've had other nice things that we've made but I feel like I've thought about everything and planned it carefully. I've pinched a few of the Children's crisps and ate too much cheese. I've had no alcohol at all which has helped. No chocolate either except for the Exante cereal bars which have some chic chips in.
I do feel more in control. I had PMT the other night, DH was away and we have lots of nice naughty things in the cupboards. I really wanted to just eat some rubbish, but I found some nuts and had them instead. Two months ago I would have ate crisps, chocolate and opened some wine up!
I don't know if it's just that this way of eating suits me better or that I'm finally taking it seriously. Maybe it's both?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 23/11/2014 22:05

You sound like you have found something that works for you (and I don't mean that in a patronising way) and the results you are seeing are spurring you on. I'm well impressed by your junk food and alcohol avoidance. It must be good to be in control of your food intake rather than letting your mood dictate your consumption.

I think the fact that our skinny wardrobes are 10 years old mean that they need to be dumped in the nearest charity bin.

When you say your MIL is getting you a sewing machine - do you mean one of those big fancy ones? Is she expecting you to become the next Coco Chanel and run up some fancy clothes for yourself? I think you should make your kids fancy Santa stockings for next year, that'd be brilliant.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 23/11/2014 22:19

Yes I think most of my old stuff will end up in the charity bag. Unless the DC's will go to 00's nights in the same way we went to 70's nights! They be dying to borrow my satin tops then!

She's got me basic machine. Thank god really, that way I won't feel too guilty when I never use it. I simply mentioned an interest in the great british sewing bee programme earlier in the year and she decided I should learn. She keeps asking if I want it now but I have no idea where I'm going to put it. I like the idea of Christmas stockings though. Maybe I could make crafty things?

Greenrabbit · 24/11/2014 17:45

This morning I was 13 stone 12lb. So 2.5lb lost last week and 23lb in total. Just 5lb to my pre Christmas goal.
My face looks much thinner. I'm going to check out my back fat later.

Greenrabbit · 24/11/2014 17:47

How has everyone's day gone?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 24/11/2014 21:27

Congratulations Green. I bet you look fantastic.

The race is on for one of us to be 12 stone first Grin.

My day was a bit shit. My car broke down and we were mad late getting home so I ended up having pasta with the kids. But I will pick myself up and dust off the carbs and eat my JD diet.

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 24/11/2014 21:34

Sorry not been around, Tiny is teething, DH had some kind of bug, also in the middle of a course at work....

Well done Green - that's so fantastic. Such an amazing weight loss and really inspiring.
Have you weighed in Sol? Hope nothing too desperate wrong with your car. You are so nice helping your friend out.
Weighing in tomorrow, was TOM so no point weighing at the weekend. I do think I have been picking too much and had a few too lapses, so am reigning myself in. Hoping to have lost the 2lbs I put on and then lose another 6 before Christmas. Hoping for a total loss of 12lbs before Christmas, leaving 19lbs still to lose. Having Christmas week off, then will have 3 weeks until our holiday so hoping to lose 6lbs. Bit disappointed I haven't tried harder but hopefully I will be within a stone of my goal weight for the holiday :) not too bad...

SolitudeSometimesIs · 26/11/2014 22:17

Gosh Beyond, you sound like you are crazy busy. How is your DH and Tiny? I hope the rest of you manage to avoid the bug. How was your weigh in? Don't be too hard on yourself, you seem to be working so hard at the moment, at the end of the day it is only a little extra weight, I think you are the lightest on this thread.

Had an alright day today. Very tired but I think that's down to sleep deprivation.I bought some Options low cal hot chocolate to manage the chocolate cravings but will not be having a weekend off anymore as I have spent the majority of this week trying to lose the weight I gained last weekend.

I have 2 parties to go to this weekend but I plan on having a massive bowl of soup and then some fruit right before I get there. It's so close to Christmas, I know it will all be worth it.

I went for a walk with the baby in the buggy yesterday, it was the first time I've done any proper exercise in months (it was a fast paced march). I felt great afterwards, I wish the weather was better here so I could do it more often. But honestly the only reason I did it was because the car was broken...I am such a lazy cow...MOO!

SolitudeSometimesIs · 27/11/2014 21:47

Got a menu dropped in from the local chipper offering lots of delicious food that they will now deliver to my door. I have actually come to bed to stop myself ordering something. I am starving and cold. At least now in my bed I am warm and starving. Barely had time to eat today - I will admit to scoffing a croissant in the car while waiting to collect friends son - and had a high protein dinner, but I am so unsatisfied.

How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 27/11/2014 21:59

Hi Sol - why do people drop tempting leaflets through doors - so selfish!
Well done for resisting. Your pre party plan sounds good.
I lost the 2lbs I put on, so 26lbs to go.....

I may have made an indulgent black friday purchase. Also seen some Ugg wedge boots I don't need but want.

Greenrabbit · 27/11/2014 23:08

Well done on your loss Beyond. You'll definitely be near your target by the time you go on holiday. We are all going to be skinny(ish) next year.
I agree with Beyond about the leaflets, so rude. I do like reading a good menu though. It's cold here too. I seem to be feeling the cold more now that I've lost some insulation. Or maybe it's just because it's November (more likely).
I've been bored with dieting for the last few days, but I've stuck to it. I really wanted some chocolate tonight but had a cup of tea instead. I think it's just because I've actually lost weight this time so I can tell myself that it is actually worth doing.

What did you buy Beyond? I got two pairs of pyjamas delivered today from M&S and you got a free beauty box. Got them when the 20% was on. Also got a Mac from Great Plains as it was a bargain, it's small but I think I'll keep it as it fastens so it's not in-conceivable to slim into it.
I almost bought a perfect curl from Boots, but i talked myself out of it. I didn't even know about it until today and I'm thinking of getting my hair cut shorter next week. Plus it was £100 so not exactly cheap either. Oh and it sometimes feels like mission impossible to even wash and dry my hair, never mind sit curling it. Hmm

Sol - the MUTU programme that I mentioned is having 40% off the programmes from tomorrow till Friday if you were interested. I think it's automatically taken off.

Greenrabbit · 27/11/2014 23:14

The mutu thing is till Monday not Friday

Greenrabbit · 01/12/2014 20:59

Forgot to weigh myself this morning. The excitement of the advent calendars was too distracting. Just realised it's the first time that I haven't bothered with one for myself. DH and I normally get one of the fancy hotel chocolate ones. Diet related or am I finally growing up?

I will weigh myself tomorrow (If it's not too cold to strip in the bathroom!)

How were your parties Sol? Have you got your car sorted yet?

Did you get your boots Beyond? Those Ugg ones I bought in October have barely been off my feet. So warm and comfy too.

BeyondTheSea · 01/12/2014 21:57

Good luck for tomorrow Green and well done on resisting an advent calendar. Weighing in on Wednesday and hoping for a 2lb loss. I like your positive thinking, yay for a skinny 2015!

My boots we sold out, will hold out in the hope of another 20% offer. Going shopping on Friday, so may well come back with something different..

How things Sol?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 07/12/2014 14:35

Hi all,

sorry for the disappearing act. We have had a long week of no-sleep TinySol, early rising DS1, my stupid car breaking down, my phone refusing to connect to the internet, college work and being in bed at 8.30pm to cope with 3 hours of sleep per night.

How is everyone getting on? Have you both disappeared in to the mists of skinniness?

I haven't really eaten much during the week but I've put on 1 lb. Insult meets injury. Tiny is teething and is awake from midnight to 4am most days and then DS1 is up at 6.30 am, there were a few days where I was sure I would fall apart through exhaustion. I am too tired to cook anything except meals for the kids, so I've been having a few bites of those and then going to bed.

I have started doing lunges when pacing the floor with Tiny and my thighs are definitely changing shape. I have to move around otherwise I will fall asleep standing up (that happened twice pre-lunges). It's like I'm having a night time work out.

OP posts:
BeyondTheSea · 07/12/2014 21:07

Hello Sol. Sounds like a week best forgotten? Fingers crossed to a better week ahead. I hope you get some sleep soon. My Tiny is also teething.... Well done on the lunges!
I STS last week, hoping to lose 2lbs this week. Have been mainly good.
My work christmas party this week, tried my old faithful party dress on - it looks ok. Usual story - wish I had tried harder and was 1/2 stone thinner. .. Am only having 3 days off at Christmas, have got to break this cycle!

SolitudeSometimesIs · 07/12/2014 22:01

I'm sure you will look gorgeous Beyond. Have a great time at the party and don't be worrying. Have you some good shoes and a nice bag to with it? I think 3 days off is a winner, it will be long enough but not too long to do too much damage.

The sleep deprivation is killing me. DH has been great and gets up every second night but he gets to go to work and have a bit of a rest, whereas I'm stuck with a lunatic baby that screams all day. Shall we have a group chant where we repeat "It's just a phase, it's just a phase..."

I'll tell you something sweet though. One of the days, it was 4am and I took over from DH who was exhausted, and Tiny was delighted to see me and started hiding underneath his covers and peeping out saying "Boo!". It can be soul destroying being so tired, but he really made me laugh.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 08/12/2014 14:28

Hi all, seems like we all have teething babies. Mine still only has 6 teeth, she's been teething for months. I'm hoping they'll all pop through at once.

I hope this week is better than last Sol. Well done on the lunges though.

Enjoy your party Beyond. You'll look fabulous.

I lost 1lb last week and 1lb the week before. I'm now 13stone 10lb. Slightly disappointed, but I know I could have tried harder. I'm still wanting to get to 13st 7lb before Christmas.
I haven't had any alcohol since I started the diet so I'm feeling very proud about that. My shape seems to be changing a lot too, even though the scales aren't showing it as much. 3stone to lose still. Xmas Hmm

BeyondTheSea · 08/12/2014 21:14

Ladies - we can do this (survive teething and get to goal)!! I just know we can, we are making progress. slow maybe but we are losing.
I think you have both done fantastically well (I have been more half hearted but have reigned myself in!).
So, albs for you before Christmas Green, How much for you Sol? I am hoping for 4.

The teething will get better, this time will pass (we are over the worse bit I am sure!!) :)

BeyondTheSea · 08/12/2014 21:15

ps how did you do a Christmas smiley Green?

Greenrabbit · 08/12/2014 21:30

Yes we will do it. This time next year we'll be discussing how to maintain and everyone will have a full mouthful of teeth.

New Mums still seeking new bodies - this time we'll do it.
Greenrabbit · 08/12/2014 21:31

I'm torturing myself watching Christmas cookery programmes. I'm my own worst enemy!

BeyondTheSea · 08/12/2014 21:40

I did my Christmas food order last night, I am trying to ration the amount of cake we have in the house (or at least only have enough for 3 days of the things I like Xmas Grin
