It depends what your defining sugar as in your giving up sugar pledge (or whatever). Nakd bars are basically just mushed up dried fruit and nuts. I try not to eat tons of dried fruit but I'm not giving them up so don't have a problem with sharing a bar with dd once in a while.

Dosey · 12/02/2014 21:16

No sugar again. Feeling good and it's getting easier. Two months now with a few binges and a few SOS moments but its the best and longest I done this.

HearMyRoar · 12/02/2014 21:25

Good job dosey.

I accidentally ordered a chai latte today when I didn't fancy a coffee. I just ordered without thinking that it had sugar in. I only managed half of it though as it tasted sickly sweet to me now I'm used to no sugar.

procrastinatingagain · 13/02/2014 18:22

Hello everyone. I've done 2 days "sugar free" now. I haven't been too rigid, for example I've still been eating bread products (wholemeal), but haven't had any chocolate or yogurts with sugar in. I've felt fine actually, was thinking today that I feel more energetic. I also know I feel much better when I don't binge, and sugar is what I binge on. I'll probably be ok until my period is due, then I'll be craving sugar. I'm going to attempt to deal with this by eating sugar-free oatcake biscuits to keep my blood sugar stable.

HearMyRoar · 15/02/2014 09:02

Oh dear, had a bad couple of days and accidently tripped over a cake shop. How are people doing on valentines?

SomewhatSilly · 15/02/2014 13:58

I'm doing miserably badly and haven't had a sugar free day for nearly a week :(.

Glad it's not just me. I have fallen off the wagon big time.I have loads of valentines chocolates off dp and dd melted a huge bar of diary milk and made me chocolate hearts. I really didn't have the heart not to eat them! I have now scoffed the lot in two sittings! Just really to get them out of the way. I enjoyed them but now I am feeling horrid. And have terrible wind Blush. My teeth feel manky too. i was at the dentist yeaterday and i need two fillings which i cant help thinking is a result of eating far too much sugar over the years. I am well and truly ready to start a fresh tomorrow.

Anybody else wants to get back on wagon with me.

HearMyRoar · 15/02/2014 19:13

Oh, me! Me!

My mum had to go into hospital last week to have complicated things done to her lungs (they keep filling up with water on top of having cancer in multiple places), plus I had a really stressful week at work With the stupid weather and people being twats. I sort of figured it was a toss up between getting really drunk or eating cake for a day. As I haven't drunk alcohol for about 3 years I thought cake was the lesser of the two evils.

So cake shop by 9am and then kids birthday with loads more cake this afternoon. I now feel horrid. I am really bloated, feel sick and have a headache. Also clearly even more of emotional wreck due to sugar crash. I don't want to eat sugar any more, its just not really as fun as I remember Confused

Dosey · 15/02/2014 20:14

Hi roar, your week sounds horrendous, I hope your mum feels better soon. I think I would have done the same in your shoes. I hope what's left of your weekend is good. At least we have both recognised how sugar is making us feel. Keep us posted on your mum.

PinkPeanuts · 15/02/2014 22:25

Another one that totally needs to get back on the wagon here, I've been so shit with this Sad

The thing is, I'm so unbelievably unhappy with the way I look due to weight gain that it's utterly stupid to continue cramming my face with sugar, yet somehow I continue to do it Sad

Dosey · 16/02/2014 21:46

A much better day for me. Though I did have a slice of cheesecake after Sunday dinner. Dm bought it just for me. I counted this as an SOS situation. I never craved anymore sweets, chocolate or any other kind of sugar after it so I was pleased with that.

HearMyRoar · 16/02/2014 21:48

Thanks dosey I'm feeling much better today and managed a sugar free day! Had a lovely morning out in the sunshine, I am so over the whole rain business. I just want some summer now.

pink it is hard. I find stopping the comfort eating cycle is the hardest bit. You comfort eat, then feel crap about yourself for comfort eating and then...guess what...go and bloody comfort eat some more. I don't really know what to suggest. I am trying to train myself to comfort eat other stuff rather then sugar. Not sure if this just replaces the problem with something else though Confused

EnidB · 16/02/2014 22:00

Oh I am so glad it isn't just me. I was sugar free until about 3 weeks ago - even through Christmas! But a rubbish work routine tipped me over the edge. New day tomorrow

Dosey · 17/02/2014 22:23

Sugar free day today. Though I did get a craving and had some crisps I instead. Slightly defeats the object but it took the edge off and I was fine after them. Dd has a massive bag of tangtastic which has been sat winking at me all day. I haven't touched one. I would have scoffed the bag two months ago and then rummaged about for more.

HearMyRoar · 18/02/2014 19:39

Gosh, I love tangtastics. Impressive restraint dosey!

I had a strepsil today as I have an awful sore throat but I figured it was allowed as medicinal. Not that it made a jot of difference so haven't had any more.

My colleague is pregnant and almost convinced me to buy a toasted tea cake as she currently adores them. I valiantly resisted the tea cake by not so valiantly buying a bacon roll instead. Oh well.

Dosey · 18/02/2014 21:42

Hi there. We had a trip to the seaside and I had a donut. Anybody who can resist that smell just isn't human. I am sorry to let the side down but I really enjoyed it. I had a few sweets in the car too. Half term is very hard but I do feel good that my cravings have vanished I just had them because it was a seaside day. I will try harder tomorrow.

Well done hear and don't worry about the strepsil. Hope the buttie sorted the sore throat out.

HearMyRoar · 19/02/2014 21:37

Umm.. Do you think everyone else is out scoffing chocolate dosey. I'm starting to think its just us....

SomewhatSilly · 19/02/2014 22:47

I am :(

Fallen off the wagon and rolled under it.

Attempting to regroup, hope to be back soon.

Really bad week. I am going to try again tomorrow though we are eating out tomorrow and Sunday so puddings will be tempting. I ate some of the tangtastics and pulled a filling out. If that's not telling me something I don't know what is !

JimmyCorkhill · 25/02/2014 09:03

Fallen off the wagon and rolled under it I am pulling you out Grin

Are you all just cutting out sugar or are you replacing it with fat? I am, and I think that is what is making it easier for me. Strawberries and double cream is a delicious alternative to chocolate.

Dosey · 25/02/2014 17:24

Hi there jimmy, I am replacing with full fat yes. I am back on the wagon half term just killed me going out for tea and lunches so many tempting puddings.

I am in the full fat yogurt now. Soooo yummy !

JimmyCorkhill · 25/02/2014 19:45

Full fat Greek yog and cream is delicious. Well....anything and cream is pretty delicious to me really Blush

HearMyRoar · 25/02/2014 20:09

Just clinging onto the wagon by my fingernails.

I think you might be onto something with the fat. I think I am suddenly having problems because I have cut down my dairy intake, which was a lot of the fat i was eating. I hadn't eaten any dairy at all for well over a year because dd is intolerant and I was bf. Suddenly eating tons really was not agreeing with me so I have reduced it right back and do feel much better, except I am suddenly getting cake cravings.

Maybe I need a new source of fat. Any ideas?

JimmyCorkhill · 26/02/2014 11:06

On the low carb bootcamp threads (I lurk Grin) they say butter doesn't really count as dairy, less carbs I think, although don't quote me on that. So you could add butter to everything some of your food. I bought some Lurpak garlic butter and it is gorgeous on veg. I actually desired, yes, desired brussell sprouts the other day!

Fatty meat, bacon fried in butter! is delicious.

Avocadoes. Avocado chocolate mousse!

Nuts. Coconut milk/cream. Ghee (they sell this in Asda)

I am consuming loads of dairy and really need to try cutting it down to see if that makes any difference to my weightloss/psoriasis. So do as I say not as I do Grin
