Paul McKenna Can Make Us Thin! Thread Number 14 ~ A Simple Title, for Simple Weight Loss and All amongst Friends!!

Welcome to thread 14 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to Freedom From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

I've realised I eat a lot partly because I like the feel in my mouth (no sniggering at the back Grin). Anyone else or am I weird? I thought some chewing gum might help.

Hi the doc
I like the sensations of food in my mouth. mouth gets tingly, and there are all sorts of sensations. almost orgasmic. only get this with food though, when feeling hungry and eating slowly. can definitely see the pleasures in eating.

The visualising horrible things on your food was for if you have an obsession with a certain thing or are constantly craving it and would like to break that craving/obsession.

Read this for your reference:

The Hunger Scale

  1. Physically faint

  1. Ravenous

  1. Fairly hungry

  1. Slightly hungry

  1. Neutral

  1. Pleasantly satisfied

  1. Full

  1. Stuffed

  1. Bloated

10. Nauseous

Each person is different, but as a general rule you want to eat whenever you notice yourself between three and four on the scale – that is when you’re fairly hungry, but before you become ravenous. If you wait until you get down to one or two, your body will go into starvation mode, and you’ll probably end up eating more than your body needs and storing the excess as fat.

To describe the Hunger Scale with a bit more detail, try thinking, really thinking, about these phases:

You are so hungry you want to order everything on the menu.
Everything on the menu begins to look good. You may be very preoccupied with your hunger.
You are hungry and the urge to eat is strong.
A little hungry. You can wait to eat, but you know you will be getting hungrier soon.
Neutral. Not hungry. Not full.
No longer hungry. You sense food in your belly, but you could definitely eat more.
Hunger is definitely gone. Stop here, and you may not feel hungry again for 3 to 4 hours.
Not uncomfortable, but definitely have eaten a bellyful.
Moving into uncomfortable.
“Thanksgiving full.” Very uncomfortable, maybe even painful.

Jelly I think you need to wait until you are fairly hungry before eating. Slightly hungry should be kept waiting a bit.

I didn't used to like him either Mardy, but a few years ago, I took the trouble to listen to something serious he was talking about (took a lot 'cos I really thought he was awful) and I totally changed my opinion of him.

He smells fab too!

Although I agree that "1" is not a good place to be on the hunger scale I'm happy with "2" most of the time as this is where I find my true hunger. I'm still losing and am seriously in the zone. I'm determined to lose some fat and am visualising my slimmer self wearing new clothes.Smile

Each to their own solo. I wasn't impressed with his Paxman interview.

I get your little frisson for Mr McKenna though. But only in the flesh as it were. He comes across as creepy on the tapes.

Hi all, bit down today, weighed myself and I'm the heaviest I've ever been. Not blaming this WOE as I've only just restarted but still sad.

Don't worry TheDoc, you may gain a little, before your weight stabilizes, and you lose weight.

The important bit is that you don't give up but keep at it.

I've had a few wobbles on the way, and still not lost anything so far, but getting used to this woe, and so far enjoying the freedom.

That's what I've read about this woe so far.

Now reading PM's new book. Just reading about the serotonin levels which is really useful for me.

NoGood said there was a section about this in his new book, so I'm really pleased to come across it:)

The Doc

Just remember it can take up to 6 months for your weight to stabilize and start losing weight.

Yes it definitely takes a good six months to really get into mindful eating before you let go of expectations. The alternative Doc I
is grim isn't it?...... more diets that work for s little while and then the bingeing....more self loathing and sadness ay eating such crap food when you know you don't have to. Please stay with it but keep CDing and reading. CD best listened to every day. I like the gastric band one myself. It took me the whole of last year to fully adjust to the four rules and gaining and losing is part of the journey to freedom. Generally you start losing when you are doing this way effectively and conciously. When you are only eating when your body really requires nourishment you WILL lose weight. True hunger is your bodies way of fueling itself and stopping as soon as the present mouthful no longer tastes as good as the first is your satisfied point. That may be a couple of mouthfuls or more but your aim is not to feel full but satisfied. Smile
