New thread for those of us with lots of weight to lose, following on from the previous 3 threads. For those who weren't aware a guinea pig weighs 1lb

clarinet
lots of food but no drinks ....
you were not hungry, you were thirsty
whenever you think you are hungry, drink a whole pint of water and wait 20 minutes
you need to be drinking around 4 pints of water a day
as well as cups of tea / coffee

clarinetV2 · 18/01/2014 18:10

I know, Debs, it was a lot of bakery items - I just love them! Though not quite as bad as it sounds. I bought two separate bagels, not a whole packet. If I'd bought a packet of 4 I would have eaten them for sure. TalkinPeace, I had lots of water as well, just didn't put that down. I'm trying really hard to keep my water intake up. I don't know that I quite manage 4 pints every day, but I have water on my desk at work and I'm constantly drinking from it.

Well done on your NSV, Debs. And I think your attitude to losing is absolutely sensible and sounds as if it will keep you going much longer than unrealistic expectations of yourself.

I'm having another fast day today, and it's going well. It's been a busy day with lots of things to stop me thinking about food, so I managed to leave most of my calories until teatime. I'm hoping this will mean I don't wake up quite so hungry tomorrow.

TalkinPeace · 18/01/2014 18:12

have a pint of water just before you go to sleep - constant sipping is less good for you than a big glug - its all about letting your tummy empty and "vacuum into the corners"

clarinetV2 · 18/01/2014 18:22

Thanks, TIP, I'll try that tonight. I find large quantities of water quite difficult (wish I felt the same about bread, cakes, chocolate, ice cream...) but I'll give it a go.

katykuns · 18/01/2014 23:47

Hiya. Can I join? I need to lose a Ewe plus a couple of extra pounds. I have lost a chihuahua this week. Using MFP and changing eating habits gently, rather than going aggressively into dieting and losing my motivation and willpower a couple of weeks in.

MarysDressSways · 21/01/2014 10:56

Hey all! I'm not sure how tomorrow will go because I've just got back from a long weekend away with friends and it was VERY indulgent.. so we'll see! Ha!

Welcome Katy! Sounds like you've got the right approach!

Hope everyone is having a good week.

lubeybooby · 21/01/2014 13:04

my first weigh in due tomorrow (been doing 5:2)

good luck to all!

clarinetV2 · 21/01/2014 14:37

Hello and welcome, katy and congratulations on losing your first chihuaua! Slow and steady is definitely the way to go.

I'm also having a go at 5:2. Hoping for reasonable news on the scales tomorrow, but this pattern of eating is new to me so I'm not sure how it's going to work out - I know from bitter experience that this old carb-addicted body of mine can behave unpredictably especially when I've changed eating habits.

Hope you enjoyed your indulgent weekend, Mary.

MarysDressSways · 21/01/2014 16:48

Yes a little too much thanks Clarinet! Uhohhhhhhhh!

lubeybooby · 22/01/2014 03:06

woohoo I have lost four guinea pigs :o

Helenagrace · 22/01/2014 06:40

Another guinea pig here so half a stone in total!Grin

lubeybooby · 22/01/2014 09:48

well done Helena :o!

clarinetV2 · 22/01/2014 10:56

Congratulations, lubey, that's a fantastic result, and Helena congratulations on this week's loss and your milestone.

I've lost two guinea pigs which I'm very pleased with given Friday's blow-out and a more restrained blow-out yesterday (two Twixes were involved). That makes 10 guinea pigs since the start of the year. Most importantly, I'm back in control after a month of completely uncontrolled eating in December in which I gained a stone and a half. I was beginning to worry that I wouldn't get my mojo back, and I was back into the yo-yo cycle. If I'd carried on the way I was going I would almost certainly have gained several more guinea pigs, even a whole stone. So relieved that hasn't happened. And chuffed with myself!

MarysDressSways · 22/01/2014 11:15

Well done all!

I'm down 1lb this week (so long guinea pig!) which I'm happy with after the weekend I had!

Debs75 · 22/01/2014 21:17

Another 1lb off this week which I am very happy about. I have stuck to things as much as can ever hope to do. I don't like diets where I am restricting myself so I am more than happy to have a couple of bad days and not have a big weight loss, I just don't like gaining lbs.

Been good so far this week, eating more and better food then this time last year. I want to lose another 1.5 stone this year which will see me about a stone within target (I think I am always changing my mind on y goal weight) and I think that is a relatively easy target to make.

Seeing an old friend tomorrow which could turn disastrous. She is taking me to some botanical gardens and then a long 4 mile walk back to her house. Just wondering if the gardens have a café and the slice of carrot cake will be worked off with the hilly walkHmm

wyldchyld · 23/01/2014 09:18

8 guinea pigs off!!! =D

MarysDressSways · 23/01/2014 13:02

Wow, that's some going Wyld, well done!

Debs, I think a long walk deserves a reward sometimes!

wyldchyld · 23/01/2014 15:40

Thanks, Mary, I'm chuffed this week! Best part of 4 stone off now!

Debs75 · 23/01/2014 22:39

Marys It did and it was a lovely lemony sliceGrin

Well done on 8lbs Wlyd I can only manage losses like that when I am ill.

SingingGerbil · 23/01/2014 22:40

A human brain mine Grin

MarysDressSways · 27/01/2014 17:40

How is everyone doing? It's Monday and it's raining, sigh.

But I have lots of lovely veg in the fridge at home for this week's dinners! :)

TheresASnakeInMyBoot · 28/01/2014 17:48

Can I join in please? Found this thread a little late, have been trying to loose weight since 6th January and have so far managed a stone! I know it won't be this fast forever, but I am really determined this time to actually succeed.

I have a lot more to lose, 173lb to be precise (and which I've admitted to no one but myself before) but am keeping fingers crossed and calories low!

MarysDressSways · 29/01/2014 09:51

Great name theresAsnake, welcome!

We do a weigh in (not compulsory) on a weds. I had/have a lot to lose too, I'm just over half way to my target. Well done on your great losses so far! I find once you're in the groove and it's coming off it's easier to keep going.

This week I'm 4lb down. Yay :)

B52s · 29/01/2014 10:08

Another third of a kilo, or about three quarters of a guinea pig. Slowly but surely, plodding on. No diet here though, so it's going to be slow progress, but I am hoping my few small changes in lifestyle will be keep uppable. New faces all the time here (welcome, everybody), I wonder if the men support each other like us ladies do?

TheresASnakeInMyBoot · 29/01/2014 19:11

Thanks MarysDressSways - my favourite film!

I do my weigh in on a Saturday, but could change to a Wednesday - perhaps not tonight, I've just eaten dinner!

Well done to all the weight loss so far, here's to far less of us in the future!
