Hi everyone! Started the Harcombe diet on Saturday at 8st 13, weighed myself this morning and am 8st 11. The first stage is usually only 5 days but might push that to 7/10 if I can bear the lack of a cup of tea that long!

lubeybooby · 06/01/2014 12:48

Hello! I need to lose a microwave... considering 5:2 at the moment but might just carry on with trusty cal counting making it up as I go along did that last year, lost a vacuum cleaner or 31 guinea pigs and kept most of it off but now need to do the rest

Debs75 · 06/01/2014 13:43

I have lost somewhere between a mid sized microwave and an average human leg in just over 2 years.

Sleepingbunnies · 06/01/2014 15:56

Had one of the leggera pizzas at pizza express today! And surprisingly I loved it!! :)

GinSoakedMisery · 06/01/2014 18:23

Evening all! Glad to see this thread still going, was one of the original guinea piggers and now back again. Was LegoAcupuncture, currently using this name but might revert back as doesnt fit well.

I managed to go through chrismas and never lost or gained so pleased with that.

Doing WW and have bought a (2nd hand) cross trainer, starting slowly, only managed 5 minutes today and legs are aching but intend on increasing the time by a minute every three days, fingers crossed!

Helenagrace · 06/01/2014 18:48

Just trying MFP which I downloaded and ignored months ago. I quite like it! The scanny thingy has amused me today. I know all the techy terms me!

QuicheDodger · 06/01/2014 19:10

Reporting for duty on this thread.

I've lost between a small bale of hay and a 5000 BTU air conditioner already. Still got a sperm whale’s brain to go to be my ideal weight.

Will probably end up mostly lurking like I did before. I read and you all inspire me to keep going!

TheOnlySeven · 06/01/2014 22:51

Can I join you? I lost an air conditioner doing WW at home in 2009, but I've put a microwave back on during 2 pregnancies and a horrible year in 2013. Now need to lose a gold brick to reach my ideal weight. I'm starting SW tomorrow night

Hello old friends and newbies. Good to see some familiar people (even if I'm having trouble keeping track of who was who).

Another good day for me today. I'm thinking of switching strategies, and low-carbing. Carbs are my great love and also my downfall. The past month has been a bit of a wake-up call to me - I thought my eating was sustainable long-term and that I had the psychological stuff cracked, but it was like my carb-addicted body got back in control of me. I don't want it to happen again. Reading the low-carb threads, people talk about beating their addictions, and I thought I'd managed that by giving into them sometimes, but maybe in the long term that's not going to work. I'm on 1200 calories a day at the moment, and by default that ends up being low-carb because I use up calories too quickly if I have high-carb foods. Perhaps it's time to do the low-carb thing properly?

MarysDressSways · 06/01/2014 23:19

I low calorie and by default low carb. So no bread, pasta, rice or potatoes.

But I love quinoa, lentils, beans etc as low carb alternatives. And I have butternut squash or pumpkin instead of a baked potatoe. And I have puréed cauliflower or mashed swede too. Either as 'mash' on it's own or on top of cottage pie or similar. All are yummy. They really can satisfy me as an alternative.

Sleepingbunnies · 07/01/2014 17:48

Managed 4 miles walking today :) loving new pedometer!

Filimou · 07/01/2014 18:16

GinSoakedMisery · 07/01/2014 19:51

Helenagrace · 07/01/2014 23:27

I had another good day. I've put my walking kit out ready for an early morning outing tomorrow.

Ooh it's weigh in tomorrow isn't it? Must remember that!

Are we going back to our Wednesday weigh-ins? I did today, out of habit, and I'm 10 st 2. The bad news is that's a stone more than my target which I hit last September after just over a year's weight loss. It's taken me a single month to gain a stone. Angry But on the plus side, I've lost 5 lb since Saturday - which I suspect is losing the 'water bloat' from my December carb-fest. The sad reality is that the remaining stone is probably real weight gain which it's going to be a slow, hard slog to lose. But I'm determined to do it - I think if I allowed myself to yo-yo back up to my starting weight (15 st 2) and more I wouldn't be able to motivate myself again.

Anyone else joining me in the Wednesday weigh-in?

clarinetV2 · 08/01/2014 10:01

Meant to say, congratulations, Helena.

Sirzy · 08/01/2014 10:06

I have stayed the same, that could be something to do with the 2 slices of birthday cake last night.

I think I need to get bac t the wednesday weight in to keep me focused.

I am happy to put together a list tonight of losses this week if people still want that

Hey allllll. Happy weigh in day!

So by some minor miracle. Even after copious amounts of rum, pizza and what can only be described as "twiglet gate" at the weekend, I have lost 3lb this week, so that's a human brain! No doubt all of that naughtiness over the weekend will show up next week instead... but let's pretend it won't right now!

So -
Start - 20st
Last Week - 16st 1lb
This Week - 15st 12lb

Debs75 · 08/01/2014 11:16

I lost an average human brain this weekGrin

Starting weight February 2013 15.5.5
Weight now January 2014 14.0

RalphLaurenLover · 08/01/2014 13:04

I'm a guinea pig off losing a vacuum cleaner! and have a microwave to lose!

moonshine · 08/01/2014 17:23

Some people think I've lost my marbles but I've actually lost a human brain this week, so 3lbs downs - yay!
